WE ARE FULL!!!
I have been eying these Japanese Moleskine exchanges, but first I didn´t find a Moleskine, and then they were full. A real woman takes matter into her own hands, so here it is - THE LUCKY 7 MOLESKINE EXCHANGE! Please join, and join soon - these things usually fill up pretty fast. 10 players, open theme, first mail date September 1st.
# You Promise that you will see this through to the end – no flaking allowed!
# You must be an actively trading member (defined as: positive iTrader across 2 swaps in the last 3 months)
# You must have 3+ months in good standing (no neutrals or negative iTraders)
# You have an iTrader rating of 25+
# You are willing and able to do your very best work
# you will mail on time – the 1st of each month.
This swap requires a huge amount of your time – there will be no withdrawls once you are accepted into the circle. Be very sure you are ready to take this on both in time and money – you will be looking at a 10 month commitment. You have to let us know if you´re going to be away, so we can work around that.
This is how we do it:
Purchase your Japanese moleys, they are appox. 3.5”x5.5” and fold out like an accordion. Pick out a theme - fill out and decorate the first non-accordion pages with your name, address, and travel plan (which will be posted after signups close). You may decorate the cover or not. Then, the first 3 pages are all yours - this is a good time to establish your theme and color scheme – this will give your fellow artist a better sense of your theme, if any. The owner of the Moleskine decides whether the contributions of the other artists to her Moleskine should follow a certain theme or not. Some people like a little "bio" of each artist (and a photo, if possible) on the backside of their entry, but it's totally up to each book owner.
You will create a three page layout in each journal you receive. Each artist will draw, make a collage, paint, or use whatever media (this will be open media, but if you want a media in particular in your book, say so when stating your theme). After finishing an entry the Moleskine will be send to the next person. Each artist gets one month to make an entry. Please do only your very best work.
* Mailing must be done with either the priority flat rate envelope or small box with delivery confirmation for the US participants. International participants should use their equivalent! Don´t use surface mail, since it can take up to 8 weeks. Please protect your moley with a bubble envelope/bubble wrap and plastic bag!
* PM your recipient before mailing to make sure they're ready to receive the moley and don't already have one. We need to try to keep one moley per person as much as possible!
* I will keep a master list of all participants' mailing addresses, email addresses, and other contact information throughout this whole thing, just in case!
In this thread we can give each other updates of the well-being of the visiting Moleskine, if there is a delay, etc., etc.. We do have to post when we mail a Moleskine and when we receive one. We don't post pictures of our work unless the Moleskine arrived at the next artist … it'll be a surprise for all of us, including the following artist.
One last thing...there is a pouch at the back of the Moleskine that we could put little things in if we wanted...perhaps an ATC in your own theme or an ATC that represents your art or style, some ephemera... a nice little present for the Moleskine owner!
And most important: let´s have lots of fun with our moleys!
So, if you´ve read through all the rules and still want to do this, don´t hesitate, join - either via PM or in the thread.

Yay, it´s up!
Ok, Of course I have to be in it, I want my moleskine filled with petite dolls and pretty girls - pretty, girlie Suzi Blu style, and lots and lots of mixed media. Layers! Unfortunately I don´t think beeswax will work - with all of the folding, but it would´ve been nice...

I'd love to join! I'd like to leave it up to each member of the group what they would like to do. So my theme is open and up to each artist. I love collage, painting, drawing and the combination of all three.

Welcome, Knesi! Yay!
Are you waiting for many swaps and trades, Penlowe? It´s over a month until shipping time, and if you think you are closer to 25 by then, I can put you on the list as stand by.
Penlowe
07-14-2009, 09:06 AM
I have 4 items on my desk ready to mail out, so yeah I'll likely be at the bare minimum but I can't guarantee it. Back-up list would be awesome :) If I get a book started and don't wind up in this one I can save it for the next.
Doesn't the chance of someone picking a theme totally alien to your experience scare you? Not so much technique but the actual themes make me nervous.
malinmaskros
07-14-2009, 09:12 AM
Then I put you on the list - if you won´t make iTrader in time, I´ll remove you. But it sounds like you´ll be able to play with us!
Yes, sometimes the themes scare the crap out of me (especially when I did the Favourite artist PAT - totally intimidating!), but somehow I´ve worked it out in the end. And those scary themes really help you grow as an artist.

Hope to see you again, HHC!
I'm kinda of rethinking about this...I check out the Japanese moleskins...have a few questions so each person in the group is gonna do a page in my book by the time this is over and that is front and back of page? in my theme?
Rina
Oh and is there somewhere I can see examples of one of these swaps...you know pics???lol
malinmaskros
07-14-2009, 02:48 PM
I´m happy to see you here, re-thinking things! :D
We all do three pages in each others books, front pages. If you want the backs decorated in any way in your book, then you say so. You can make it a bio of the artist, a photo, maybe a self portrait, whatever you like. Since the Japanese Moleskines have accordion pages, you don´t really see the backs, it´ll be one long page if you fold it out.
If you go to the book journals forum page (http://www.atcsforall.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=72), and look at the treads, you can see a little paperclip in the end of each headline. If you click the paperclip, you get a list of all of the attached photos in the thread. Lots of beautiful Japanese molies there!

I have been watching this thread since I have often coveted the moleskine journal pages I have spotted in the gallery, and have long wanted to join in.
Then you post, and I dither, and dither, and dither.
I tried to buy a journal today with no success, but I know I can get one from Amazon, so that is no excuse.
And I know, even though other participants themes are not always to your liking, it does push you, as I found with the circle journals I have done.....
So, after all that, can I please join?
I will have a good think about a theme, and get back to you ASAP.

I too have been watching this thread for awhile...I've never worked in a Japanese Moley so I'm kinda chicken...I know, I know, step out of the comfort zone...try something new...yadda, yadda, yadda... I'm still lurking and contemplating...
Lol...I didn't know either....I briefly look thru some but now I want to play...(me think)...few more questions thou
Malin
so when should I have my moleskin by? by sept correct?
what would be the best shipping to pick when sending international?
you say we decorate three pages(front side) in each other's books...so I take it that means three fold out long ways pages?
sorry for all the questions....just want to make sure got this right....I'm really trying to come up with a theme now...well at least a name for it...I want a book of mermaids, fairies, witches, pretty girls, gothic girls, goddesses.....all good or bad, creepy or cute..alittle of each!
one more thing Malin....is there a time limit to get the pages done for whoever book you have....I'm alittle concern because it looks like this will be going on thru the holidays and I work retail...so that's gonna mean long and crazy hours...I was planning on taking a break for sure from atc swaps during that time...but I think this mokeskin exchange would be perfect for still getting my art fix in!

I believe each person has each book for about a month, that's why it's such a big commitment. Ten people/ books = ten months. Although it is up to each group leader to set the dates, so perhaps we could bat our eyelashes and ask for an extended period in December? Practically every major religion has some kind of holiday in December (Ramadan floats, but sometimes it's as late as December), and most non-religious folks vacation & party over that month. For me it's super busy because both my oldests daughter's birthday and my wedding anniversary are also December, and dad's birthday is January 1.
I worked retail from age 17 until I was 33, I know how it is :) I actually liked the hustle of holidays over those long boring summer days where all I did was fold things over & over. Yeah, I'm weird, I liked working retail. If it paid better I'd probably be doing it still.

Ok, first - welcome, Bright-Spark! I´m happy you decided to join! And of course you too, Rina! Your theme sounds great, all we need is a name! Maybe something in the line of Enchanted Ladies, but I´m sure someone will come up with something better. Ideas, please!
Lurk away, Mad Catter!
Then, questions:
The first mail-by date is September 1st, so you should have your Moleskine before that, so you can write in your travel plan, do your first pages, perhaps decorate the covers...
The three first fold-out pages are all yours (there´s first one page, the one with yor contact info, that doesn´t count as a fold-out page, it´s the three after that one, but if you include it, you´ll have four pages to decorate - it makes sense when you have the book in your hands) to paint in your theme - take the opportunity to establish your theme here.
Then you do three fold-out pages in everyone´s books, again, you know exactly what I mean when you see the book.
You should send international by airmail - by surface it takes too long, up to two months, sometimes longer. If you send it in a padded envelope, it shouldn´t cost that much (only for me...), the books are small.
Yes, we send the book in time for the 1st each month, and yes - I can be kind to you all in December, and give you some more time with your books. I´m not impossible!
Also, I mentioned it in the first post - it would be nice to put a little present for the book owners in the back pocket, nothing big, maybe an ATC, some ephemera, nice paper scraps... something you think would make them happy.
THANKS MALIN for answering the questions!!! Little intimidated with others themes and what to do but excited about this.
I'm gonna order my book by the end of the week so I can get it in and get started on my pages.
Please add mixed media to mine as well(if you have room-LOL)
Still thinking about title...so anyone else if you have suggestions for a title for my theme please share.....and if I pick it...I'll make sure your book gets an extra treat from me!!!!
(see how hard up I am for a title....I'm not creative enough to come up with my own:rolleyes:)
Malin I got you down for Enchanted Ladies

There´s always room for mixed media! ;) I hope you get your book fast!
Hi Malin, can you add mixed media to my theme, forgot I should have said so.
Okay, it scares me a little, but I'd like to join. I'm still debating on my theme and will let you know. :)
Okay so I'm thinking for a title for my book it will simply be
Sugar n Spice n Fantasy
I look up Fantasy art and it has alot of that mermaids, dark stuff, etc that I like also.
whatta ya all think?
gonna check out my local bookstores tomorrow if they don't have the moleskin than I will be ordering one come Friday.

I ordered my book from Amazon and it was dispatched yesterday.
But, I am having difficulty on a theme..... I know it will come to me, but at the moment there are a lot of ideas whizzing round in my head, and I can't come to a landing on one!

Welcome, HHC!
I´ll add mixed media to you, Bex!
And you´ll get your theme, Rina!
For those of you who haven´t decided on a theme yet, it´s ok, take your time - we still have more than a month before we have to send our books!
Actually I have a preference for hand drawn or painted work, including collaged drawn/painted which is good. Am I being too picky - would anyone mind if I asked for that?????
malinmaskros
07-16-2009, 08:57 AM

07-16-2009, 02:24 PM
I personally am open to whatever media each person is most comfortable with so long as it doesn't render the other pages unusable by the other folks.
I realized several of the things I sent/ will be sending in the next couple days aren't due till September 5 or later, meaning I won't have iTrader for them until their due dates. I'll have 20 within a week and I guess a month to squeeze in five more individual swaps to ensure it but... blerg, I hate trying to squeeze in, y'know? I ordered 2 moleskines today, just to be prepared :)
malinmaskros
07-16-2009, 02:28 PM
If you´d like, I´ll do a trade with you! And if we ask nicely, maybe some of the other players as well? There are so few iTraders left, sure we can come up with the ones missing!
Penlowe
07-16-2009, 02:37 PM
I keep a swap journal, I dug through it after writing that. I'll get five points in August from stuff I've already sent :jiggy: /phew!
Bright-Spark
07-16-2009, 02:37 PM
I am happy to trade with Penlowe if that would help?
Although I have not yet made my choice on theme, I know I will leave the medium open so that everyone can do what they are comfortable with.
I am the opposite of HHC in that I think I am much better at hand drawn/painted than collage, but that is why I like seeing what others, like HHC, do with collage and other media!
No probs, will go back to mixed media!
Bex! I just meant my drawing may not be quite up to your level of drawing... as long as I can collage a bit with it, it will be okay. I don't totally suck, just partially. LOL! You should have what you want in your book.
And I'm open to whatever media people prefer to use, be it hand drawn/painted or mixed media.
I'm going to leave my theme 'mixed media' as these swaps are about relaxing and having fun, the last thing I want is for anyone to feel pressurised. But I just thought I'd test the water so to speak. We all just want to gain every artists unique expression of our chosen theme.
Malin, your travel plan pages are beautiful!
malinmaskros
07-16-2009, 02:53 PM
I´ll change you into mixed media then, Bex. And thanks! I can´t wait to see what you all will do!
Sounds like you´ll be home safe with the iTraders, Penlowe. But if it looks like there´ll be a point or two missing, just holler, and we´ll help you out!
Penlowe
07-16-2009, 03:30 PM
I just realized what my theme needs to be: windows & doors with or without their various metaphors and meanings (i.e. go as deep and philosophical or light & word-less as you feel).
So if we want a little info about each person on the back of their pages we put that in the book or with it when we mail, right? I hear about it but haven't actually seen it asked in any threads.
malinmaskros
07-16-2009, 04:13 PM
Yes, you could add a little note, and if there´s anything else you want to say to the players, just send it along your journal. I´m adding your theme, what media do you want it, anything or something in particular?
Also, when you get your hands on your books, and when I´ve posted your travel plan - write it in your book, so we know where to send it next. I´ve seen some beautiful travel plan pages in earlier Japanese Moleskines, so make it pretty, and make it along the theme of the rest of your book. At least that´s my suggestion! ;)

It´s a good thing, that several of us are in Europe - we get our journals a little faster then... Often I´m the only one outside of the US, and I get swap returns long after the rest of the players. I´ll try to arrange the travel plan for some inter European travels...

Yes, it´s that small. I was a bit surprised too, I had to ask at the shop if this was the only size there was, and it is. Your Japanese Moleskines are surprisingly small!

LOL, if you stand on the beach at Portobello and I stand on the beach at Burntisland we could probably just shout 'catch'. Or maybe I will need to do a bit of shopping in Edinburgh and I can just hand it straight to you!

Hi there!
Malin & BrightSpark, I worked on my first 3 1/2 pages last weekend for group #4. First time I was working on a Moley... and I find that they are small too!! I wanted to fill it up with more stuff but I had to stop! So I bought a larger one (the regular one, not the japanese one) and I think I will start a book in which I will keep everything I like that is too big for the small book!
This group sounds great! Have fun!
LOL! I'm happy with the smaller size. Bigger "canvas" scares me.
malinmaskros
07-17-2009, 01:09 PM
I´m going to get the bigger Sketch Moleskine also, but that will be later on. I want one for art journaling, and one for Suzi Blu´s portrait class. You would think, that after being used to atc´s and chunkies, 3-4 accordion pages would feel huge!
Bright-Spark
07-17-2009, 01:34 PM
Okay, made up my mind! I would like my theme to be "My favourite things", and I mean each artist's favourite things.
They could choose to depict one thing, or pack the pages with lots of their favourites.
Would this be okay? Let me know if you can foresee a problem with this theme.
PS I like LOTS of colour  Oh, and some words would be nice!:rolleyes:

Malin, I'm warning you now I can do cute little girls but my attempts at Suzi Blu style are creepy & weird instead of cute. I did a whole page of heads this morning in practice, my 7 year old came up & said "why are you drawing creepy heads?".
malinmaskros
07-17-2009, 02:14 PM

and I'm confused about the travel plan :D lol, so I send to HHC my moley to HHC? but then what?! :D
malinmaskros
07-17-2009, 03:56 PM
When you get your moley, open it up. On the first spread, there´s a spot for you to write your address info. That page (front and back) is the only "normal" page in the book, the rest folds out like an accordion. The first three foldable pages are yours to decorate in your own theme. Then, when we start to send the book, you do three of these foldable pages in every book, but in the book owners themes of course. It makes sense when you see the book! Also, the first spread is where you do your travel plan. I´ll ask around and see if we can borrow some pics from the other Japanese Moleskine exchanges, so you can see what they´ve done.
As for the travel plans. You send your book to HHC, who sends it to knesi07, who sends it to Bright-Spark... Meanwhile you get books too - first from Bright-Spark, then from knesi07 and so on. Thanks to the travel plans in the books, you know exactly where to send it. But your plan, for your book, is no 8.
Are you with me?

YES, Thanks, Malin :D Of course, I can always ask if I get confused  again :D SO--I look at the travel plan and send it to the person who is after my name on the travel plan in the book, correct? Don't worry if you can't find pics, seems to make sense now!!!!!

Hehe, WOW--there are some awesome artists right here in our own group :D I feel a bit intimidated by you all :D ANYWAYS :D I have one other question--will there be any room left over or will we fill each other's books all the way?
Nowzem, if I have calculated correctly, the book should be filled up all the way,in fact the final artist to receive each book may only have a two page spread available to fill. The way I have worked it is that we do the first two pages on opening the book with the travel plan. Then starting on the back of the only normal page in the book we do our own three page spread before passing it on to the next artist. I worked this out using the moley I currently have in my possession.
malinmaskros
07-18-2009, 01:02 AM
I´ve counted lots of times, we should get three pages, not including the back of the normal page (because that would give us four). I just counted, but I´ll count again...
malinmaskros
07-18-2009, 01:04 AM
Yupp, three pages for all of us, and then the moley is full!

I have been itching to start work on my moley - the travel plan and cover. My ideas have been crystalising, but I need to prioritise swaps, etc, etc. And, I am painting the front door next week! :(
malinmaskros, the petite dolls/pretty Suzi Blu girls... I don't draw them. I really don't draw people at all, other than stick figures. Is there a website or two (besides Suzi Blu) I can find an image that would make you happy?
malinmaskros
07-19-2009, 03:34 PM
How about making something else nice and layered mixed media, look at her paintings and be inspired, without making the petite dolls. I have faith in you!
I can do layered mixed media, just can't do people. At this time. LOL! I'll do my best to create something you will like.

You´ve got some time to practice, my book won´t be with you for a few months... :D I´m quite intimidated by some of the themes as well, and maybe even more by the undecided themes (here´s your chance to get back at me! LOL!) - I guess it´s the fear of the unknown...
Bright-Spark
07-19-2009, 04:58 PM
HHC and I should collaborate!!! I am happy to do the drawing bit, and I am I think, improving with the whimsy stuff, but the mixed media layers are more of a challenge for me. But then, that is what this is about?
malinmaskros
07-19-2009, 05:04 PM
I agree - PATs and circle journals and such scare the crap out of me, but still I enjoy doing them, because I know I´ll learn a lot, and I´ll grow as an artist. And often, the theme that intimidates me the most, turns out to be a lot easier than I first thought.
LOL! I still haven't decided on a theme, but it won't be scary. I will go with open media, so folks can do what they do best.
I GOT MY MOLEY! I GOT MY MOLEY!!! (doing a happy dance)
so cute...tiny but cute and I'm with you malin on the counting pages part...I counted twice...we each should have three.
Now where to start with mine and how do I want to establish my theme.....

No mail delivered since Thursday...... Getting the shakes:D
nowzem
07-21-2009, 11:18 AM
I hate when people go on strike--it's pretty selfish-either on their part or the buttheads that don't treat them right and cause the strike in the first place! Rar!
And! One more Q: what the heck do I do on the back of the first non folding/accordion page? I have my travel infor on the inside cover, then I am going to pu my addy on the front of the only non accordion page..but what about the back of it? it isnt included in my 3 pages if i am correct in counting!
malinmaskros
07-21-2009, 11:34 AM
Either you can include the back with your three pages, making them four, or you can come up with something clever to do. I think I´m going to write what I´m hoping to see on my pages - lots of layers, pretty colours, pretty girlies... Maybe... I still have some time to think about it. :D

Is it too late to change my theme....because I been reconsidering....I feel like my theme is just all over the place...and I'm not happy with the title........
although the other theme I'm considering going with may just be silly...but I think it will be easier AND I can provide links to helps those who can't draw to be able to draw these characters!!!! ;) so much I think can be done with this theme as well and I will love it just as well.

That sounds interesting - tell us! And of course it´s not too late to change the theme - we´re not mailing our books out for another month, and not all of us have even decided on a theme. So don´t hold back on us - what do you want instead?
Okay people I've changed my theme and don't laugh at me...but here it is
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SpongeBob_SquarePants
want some help drawing these characters ...you can go here..... listed under cartoon characters for Nickelodeon
http://www.dragoart.com/nickelodeon-c293-1.htm
http://spongebob.nick.com/
http://members.outpost10f.com/~lindax/spongebob/colorpages.html
Of course it's mixed media still...I listed a few links to inspire...IN CASE...not familar with Spongebob Squarepants. You can google and find so much on him and even you tube I believe may have a few episodes.
I'm looking for characters in scenes....like spongebob and patrick playing in Jellyfish fields, bikini bottom scenes, scene from an episode or movie...anything really...the possibilities are endless.
That's it and I'm sticking with it....off to start in my book.

A question: I know I´ve stated that we don´t show the pages we´ve done until they´ve reached the next recipient of the book. I wonder how you think about our own pages, do we show them, so everyone can see what we had in mind for our theme, or should they stay a surprise to the next in line? Opinions, please!
THANK YOU...I think so too....I'm shame to admit I love spongebob ...not a fanatic...but love the little guy...and yes my girls love to watch em too and it's one of those that I love to watch with em...well listen to in the background etc.
I think they'll enjoy looking thru the book as well when it's done.
hhmmmm.....I'm one of those hate to wait....BUT it would be a nice surprise...maybe should take a vote...I don't know..
why are you done with yours????;)
malinmaskros
07-22-2009, 12:16 PM

Rina: I think SpongeBob is really the iconic cartoon of this generation of kids and will have as long a run as Bugs Bunny and his compatriots the Roadrunner and Coyote and Daffy Duck etc. So yes, I am admitting I like SpongeBob too :D
Oddly I've never really tried drawing and cartoon or comic character, this will be fun & challenging! My favorite episodes are the dirty words one (where he says the dolphin noise) and when SpongeBob gets "the suds" and Patrick goes all medieval torturer on him. The real video at the end is the best part
I am now putting on the radio so I don't sing the theme song all day.

My method is to do as much 'stalking' and research as possible then just think on it for 3-5 days. Then I get down to work and plan the whole thing all at once. If I can get a look before the book arrives I can start working as soon as it arrives :)

malinmaskros
07-23-2009, 06:44 AM
Thank you!
I think most people put their info at the travel page (or the spread - I put the travel ino on the left, and my addy on the right), but you can put your info at the page behind the travel spread if you want to. I´m working on decorating that page right now, as well as the cover. Or you can use that page along with your three pages, and make them four. Doing Spongebob, I think that extra page might come in handy - you can do half the ocean on those... :D
Rina - Spongebob is such a great theme. I have only ever seen one episode as my son is older, but I laughed my socks off at it. You have just given me a good excuse to sit infront of the TV and veg out watching kids programmes (all in the name of research you understand). Well at least I know who Spongebob is, I am shame faced to admit I have never even heard of Suzi Blu - sorry Malin - research required for that one too.
Your pages are fab Malin as always, I'm loving the little opening doors.

I have decided I like her techniques, seeing the layering going down on the page is cool. But I fast forward to actual art and watch with the volume off. I could care less about her kissing her dog or watching her eat and I sure as hell don't want to hear her opinion on politics / the environment / California / whatever.

OK, just finished watching some Suzi Blu on the net, so now I know what it's all about. Love the techniques - practice will be required. The artist herself, hmmmm - slightly strange - poor little chubby chub with soooooo much belly fat - my heart bleeds. Cute dogs tho.

I love goats, I´d love to have a goat farm, and make cheese. I love goat cheese!
I think they understand when we talk to them, maybe not the words, but the tone of voice, our intention. My nephew asked me: why do you sound like that when you talk to the cat? Of course I was talking with my silliest voice - "who´s mummy´s pretty baby, such a good boy"... So I had to tell him - this is my "good cat" voice, and this is how my "bad cat" voice sounds like. So that´s what I think they understand - the tone of voice. :)

ok, i've decided. my moley's theme will be fairy tales. create a page based on your favorite fairy tale..think brothers grimm, hans christian anderson, or even the classics such as alice in wonderland or wizard of oz. it can be dark or not, in any media you feel comfortable with. the only thing i ask is that no tale is repeated, so if hansel and gretel has already been done, you need to pick a different one. how does that sound?

I keep tossing my book around on my desk, so far the paint on the cover is holding up, I'm going to give the whole cover one more coat of matte medium though just to be safe.
How many layers of matte medium do you have on now?
Penlowe

that depends on which part you look at :D the red heart only has one, and the ink on top of it (both black & white) none.

Yes, your book is INCREDIBLE, Penlowe! I am really impressed and intimidated... my cover blows. :( Just acrylic paint in no pattern. Maybe I can paste something on there.... :D and I've only completed a very slight bit of the first pages. I'm boring. :D HAHA, oh, but enough about ME, back to you :D
I LOVE how the page opens like a window--that is SO COOL!!!!!!

Great cover and pages penlowe, get us all inspired!
Mine is still waiting here patiently for me to have time to get started on it. The main idea for the cover is set in stone, but I keep changing my mind on the rest....
Part of me likes the idea of opening this rather boring looking black book to find lots of wonderful art inside. Quite a surprise for anyone not in the know! ;)

I hadn´t planned to decorate the covers, first I was going to keep it black. But then I saw all the beautiful covers in the gallery, and I knew I had to do something to them.

I want to make a bag for it, but I sort of have a self imposed moratorium on sewing until I clean off my cutting table. Yes, I'm spoiled rotten, I have both a paint & paper crafting table and a taller smooth surfaced cutting table for sewing projects, much to my husbands disappointment. But hey, I designed my cutting table and my daddy & I built it together for under $60, not bad right?

That sounds fabulous, Penlowe! I used to paint and sew on the same table, but when I got my computer, there´s no room for my sewing machine. Which means that I hardly ever get it out anymore...

It feels good to be among like minded folks :hugs everyone:
Hey that pic does show a nice view of my recently sorted & organized large paper in the Rubbermaid drawers in the background :)
Hey, all you guys are so organised. Like BrightSpark, my own little book is still sitting sadly waiting for something creative to happen to it. But I have nothing set in stone either, being such a dithering idiot that I am.
All the covers and pages I've seen in the gallery are gorgeous, I'd better get my thinking cap on - QUICK!!!

Checking in - haven't been around to participate in discussions, been away on vacation. I still need to purchase my moleskine, the art store near me didn't have the required moleskine - running out today to another store to find.

hi everyone-
just checking in...i had other pages to do for other moleys, then went on vacation and now i'm leaving again to go pick up a new dog...be back tomorrow night! Wednesday i'm going to start working on this moley...i have so many ideas in my head, i need to get them down fast before they fly away!
I have been floored with a serious ear infection which has left me with almost no sense of balance and everything spinning alot of the time - not nice! I will hopefully be well enough to start on my moley next week, but if I'm going to be delayed I will keep you posted.

A new dog! How wonderful, knesi!
I hope you get well soon, Bex! You´ll send to me first, and I´m perfectly fine with getting your moley a bit later. I´ll try to plan your pages ahead, so I can just paint them when I get your book.
I´ve sent you a list of our addys, keep it safe!

I saved it in Word and I printed it. :happy dance:
I added a red paper heart to the back cover similar to the one on the front.
I am now contemplating a mailing envelope... Tyvek is very sturdy and reusable, but I don't know if there are Tyvek bubble mailers. I am rather enamored of the concept of getting back the same envelope with all it's worldly wear & postage with my book, but realistically I know this may not be possible.

How are you all doing with your moleys? Remember, it´s two weeks until they need to be in the mail! And don´t forget to show us photos of your pages!
I have managed to paint the cover of mine - nothing exciting tho and the writing I did seemed straight at the time, but it looks very squint now. Still, it's only my book - I can live with it! Still in the planning process of my first pages. I have too many ideas and can't seem to settle on one.

I actually packaged mine up last night, was going to PM and give a heads up :)
Well... I haven't started mine, although I have my pages mostly thought out. Not sure I'll decorate the outside, or at least do much to it. It's good I don't have to mail until the 1st. LOL!

Hi all!
I completed my journal pages and posted them on flickr (http://flickr.com/kristiamb). I'm figuring It will be in the mail late this week. I will get a tracking # at the PO (doesnt cost extra) and send it on to Goat Goddess. I'll send you the tracking # once I mail it off.
While painting the journal pages, two of them stuck together. I didn't realize this til it was too late. I had to do some extra pages so, Nowzem will probably have to continue onto the back side of the accordian book. I'll write a note and include it in the journal.

Maybe you could cut a piece of paper the size of the last panel & use paper tape to attach it? (you can paint or draw over paper tape quite nicely) then the last person will have continuous panels same as the others.
I have paper tape, depending on the order I could do that for you when it comes to me if you like.

I just looked at the first post, I'm close to the end of your book so that might work out as it won't add any bulk but for one other person.
I also realized the SpongeBob panels are my first task! eekk!

Thanks! I included some extra moleskine pages from another journal I had in an envelope that will be with the journal. I was going to leave it up to Nowzem as to what she would like to do? (the last person on my journal route) But go ahead and add the pages with the paper tape. Perfect! Thanks!
so far the hardest for me will be Kristib...but I got awhile til I receive hers so it's all good!;)
off to work on mine today and maybe get it finished!

Malin: I guarantee my kids will want to see my book, as far as what I'd allow or be okay with, naked babies are always fine, and bare bums as long as the scene isn't overtly sexual, beyond that it's gets complicated. I'm pretty uptight when it comes to what my kids know about adult humor & relations. They will learn at the right time, but 5 & 7 isn't it.
.... Sweden is the originating country of the sauna isn't it? that I think would be cool (or hot as the case may be). :D
