View Full Version : 1on1: George cards - Help?

I just thought I'd put this in here now like the old one because I'm still on the look out for people who will be kind enough to help me with this.
As some people know (as they have been kind enough to help me in the past, and thank you to all of those that have already helped!) my dog George is very ill. We thought he just had Peripheral Vestibule Syndrome but unfortunately when we took him back to the vets last week he was diagnosed with lymphoma (cancer). He's 13 years old and my parents think that this is too old for him to undergo treatment such as chemotherapy so when he gets too back we're going to have to have him put down. :(
Now anyone who knows me knows that I am VERY close to him. In fact he is closer to me than anyone in my family and I'm not ready to lose him yet, at all.
So I was just wondering if anyone would like to do me a card as something to remember him by as part of a one on one trade? I will try absolutely anything if you have themes.
here (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v158/wolfwynd/BILD0023.jpg) are a couple (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v158/wolfwynd/BILD0003.jpg) of pictures of him and I would be ever so grateful for people who can help me. :notworthy:

Hey Wolfwynd. That's really tough news. I have had beloved pets that have had to be put to sleep and I know it's a tough thing to do though the right thing to do. Are you looking for a portrait 'cause I'm not so great with that kind of thing but I'd be more than glad to make you a heart-felt collage type card with George's picture(s). Hugs and prayers.

No, I'd be most grateful for anything. Thank you!
What would you like in return?

Great. PM me with your info - as for what I'd like, you really don't have to give me anything in return. I know, I know... you said this was a one on one swap but you really have a lot on your plate right now so don't worry about actually swapping. Otherwise, anything you'd like to create is fine with me since I like it all.

Wolfwynd, I am sorry to hear that George got such a rotten diagnosis, I know you will treasure the time you have had with him and have left with him. I love my George card that you made for me.
Linda
I can make you a George atc. Please pm me your address.
Wolfwynd, my heart goes out to you. I'm not much of a dog draw-er, I have to say, and fear that my representation of dear George would do him disrespect...but pm me your addy and I'll come up with something...
Hugs and hugs to you. Pm me if you need to chat anytime. I so understand losing a dear furbaby...

To all those who are hoping and praying for George, or who just want an update, tomorrow is the day we're going to take him to the vets. He's gone downhill really really fast and the look in his eyes... I don't think he's in any pain but you can see how tired and just not happy he is.
I don't think I'll be able to go... it's killing me now. :(
Just had a little cry - I am so sorry, he looks so cute too! It must be heartbreaking, and I know you will really miss him. I will make you something and let you know when I have put in post. I hope what time you h ve left together, is full of cuddles and happiness.
Lots of warm hugs - Ria

Hi, I'll give it a try too. I don't think a handdrawn from me, will look in any way like George, so it will be a collage one.
It is not going to be really soon, but you'll get it.
The George story is really heartbreaking.
Hugs, Linda

*hugs* At least he's had a good life with someone who loves him.

Wolfwynd, your George ATC is being mailed today. Hope you like it! My thoughts are with you. There is a website called petloss.com where you can leave a tribute to your pet. It also has an animated version of the Rainbow Bridge story.
Be well!

He went today at 4:35pm. I couldn't go in, but my sister said that we'd done the right thing, the cancer was everywhere and he wouldn't have lasted any longer, and he wouldn't have eaten or walked again after today. He had hardly any strength left today. He went pretty much as soon as they gave him the injection.
I just feel so lost... I keep looking for him and he isn't there. I have his collar and his lead and his blanket and they're giving me his ashes in 3-4 days, and they're going to keep him warm tonight and take him to the crematorium tomorrow and say a prayer and everything. I think we're going to scatter him up around the pond.
Thank you for all those that have helped and are helping, and if anyone else wants to help I'd be most grateful. All those that have ATC's due from me will get them, it just might be a little while coming until I can get my head around things.

Oh Laura, honey, I'm so very sorry to hear about your loss. I know from experience that this is a difficult time for you but you should remember that George was well loved and cared for and he had a wonderful life thanks to you and your family. Take care.
((((((Laura))))))
Oh, hon, I'm sooo sorry for your pain. *sniffle* You were so blessed to have this wonderful friend in your life, and George was equally blessed by your care and devotion. You were both lucky to have each other.
I remember when I lost my boy Pookie, also through cancer, how devastated I was. But I kept telling myself how lucky I had been that of all the world, *I* was the one to share this sweet cat's life. And when I brought my grief to my angels, they told me that Pook had known only love from me. To have a life filled with love, security, and comfort, and to pass gently in loving arms...these are blessings I made possible for him. I still can't think or talk about him w/o tearing up, although I lost him in 1991; we never forget, do we.
You did, too, for George. You did well by George, as he did by you. I'm sending comforting angels to hold you close...

I would be happy to send you a Georgie RAK...my beloved boys Bruno and Dozer [German Shepherds] would be happy to help! We have had 5 German Sheppies and of course, some of them have gone over the Rainbow Bridge...you don't need to send me anything, just send your addy...
I will keep you and Georgie in my prayers!

Hi Wolfwynd, I have just read your post and it was so sad. I sympathise with you so much as I would be heartbroken if anything happened to one of my cats.
I looked at the picture of George and fell in love with him instantly because he looks like our dog Mr. Bear who had to be put to sleep a couple of years back.
Anyway I would really love to make a card for you of George to remember him by. I will PM you when I am done for an address.
