View Full Version : TWELVE DAYS OF CHRISTMAS ORNAMENT~Due Dec. 4th

Jan
09-25-2009, 08:59 PM
Due date: Dec. 4, 2009
Sign-up: no deadline just be sure you can get it to me by Dec. 4, 2009 or I will return it to you.
Number of participants: many I hope, no limit

Let’s treat each other to a new ornament for our Christmas tree based on your choice of one subject of the Twelve Days of Christmas. This ornament needs to be completely hand made, no purchasing an ornament and gluing glitter to it or something like that. It can be made of fabrics, fibers, dominoes, clay, some type of sturdy papers such as mat boards, beads, knitted, crocheted, glass/slide. The work must be completely finished and creative. This ornament must be in my mailbox by December 4, 2009. Please include a self-addressed mailing label and a little extra postage to help me with return costs. One ornament is sufficient. If you wish to send a couple more I will return to you the number you sent in exchanges.
Primary requirement is you do your best and have fun. Dream a little.

Oh Ibus....don't do that!!! Just keep adding to it.....I'm sure a li'l Partridge Birdie would be happy to perch on this beautiful ornie. You could add a sprig of wire for a branch and cut a few lil' pears and make a lil' felt birdie....or one of any of the other 11 themes of the 12 days!!!

Ibus
10-05-2009, 05:59 AM
It's not a big problem Art, I've got another ornament swop to do and I make a new ornament for our tree every year, so it won't go to waste!

Jan
10-05-2009, 05:38 PM
I agree seems like you could add one of 12 images to it. Love the ornament.

Aha!!!....FIVE GOLDEN RIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINGS!! Beautiful!
Tell me they ain't all from your X's!!!!ROFL!!!

I have that same ornament pattern and use it with stiff/card stock paper (holiday designs and music sheets). I punch the holes and then sew up on all the sides but one. I put a lil' angle inside sitting on cotton....to see it you place fingers on top and thumb on bottom and pinch....it's a pleasant surprise. I have done non~holiday ones as well....so much fun to make and include a loop or wire for hanging and the bottom trims.

Here's my contribution! I decided to do "3 French Hens". :)

Jan
11-03-2009, 06:47 PM
Oh "key" is that lovely. Is it made out of felt?

keysandcastles
11-03-2009, 09:39 PM
It's actually Christmas ribbon which reminds me of cross stitch/needle point canvas. I doubled it up (to hide the strings from adding the beads and ribbon), painted the hens using water colors, attached them and the green ribbon on both sides, and then hand stitches the sides closed.

It's about 6 inches in length, not including the green ribbon at the top for hanging.

Jan
12-03-2009, 02:39 AM
Just finished sealing the packages and they for sure will go out tomorrow morning. I think you will all be surprised. Hoping that Ibus gets her's before the holiday, it has a long journey. Postal Service says by the end of this week they could not promise overseas mail to get to its destination by Christmas.
Please be sure to give your ornament recipient a "you rock" perk and don't forget to give a trader rating to me as host. This is the proper way of concluding these swaps.

I'm going to move this thread to archive tomorrow. Have sent Pm's to absentia with no response. Today I noticed she hasn't been on this site since Nov. 29. This is the sad part of these trades. I'm so sorry for the one participant who did not received a "you Rock" from her. If you let me know I'll post one for you. Hope we "play" again ladies very soon, thanks to each of you for bringing so much joy into my Christmas season..
