I hope she's okay. I sent her a message before the OS went down, but haven't heard from her. She probably didn't get it in time :(
I sent a PM to everyone in the swap with my email and snail mail addresses. I think it went out in time so I'm hoping to hear from bdb and hgsv49.
Good to see you made it over here, crazy4 - I'm extending the swap deadline by a week - so that's March 7th - cuz of all this kerfuffle. Hope you can make it by then.

ok, eepy... I'm ready to mail... what do I owe you in postage/ do you want an addressed envie? I know it's different for Canada. Also, any idea what it is to mail from US to Canada? I have a bunch of loose stamps I wanna use up.
Wow! That didn't take long... you don't need to send me anything Jami, just make sure your return address is on the envelope.
Postage from US to Canada for a regular envelope is 69cents.
Will let you know when they arrive.

We're Canadians! Anything Goes!
Cards Due February 29, 2008
OK fellow Canadadadians! Let's do something silly - or serious - or sexy! Your choice!
This is for Canadians only, and it's my first swap so I'm only allowed a dozen people. First come, first serve.
The theme is wide open, whatever warms the cockles of your little Canadian hearts. And preferably makes you laugh! How about nominations for a new national holiday in February! We could probably use some warm cockles just about then.
It'll be 3 for 3, signup/dropout by the end of January, and cards are due on Loon Island by the end of February. It's a Leap Year so you get an extra day!
I'll PM you my address when you sign up. Please make sure you have your name on the back of your cards, and make sure I have your address. I'll pay for postage. YeS! Cheap postage!
1. wackystuff - received
2. Jean (withdrawn) rkolig now trading & cards received
3. stormarela - received

12. and the last spot goes to howiewonderstud from Manitoba!...
More great cards received today from howiewonderstud!
Howie, I map-googled your small town... looks pretty isolated. Is it farming country, or ranching maybe?
crazy4's cards are on the way, but I'll wait another week in case bdb and hgsv49 are still in the game. I sent everyone a PM before the OS went down, and I'm pretty sure it got out in time as I had a few replies directly to my email address.
Thanks for playing everyone, this is super fun for me!

uh oh... now you can really track me down, eh? lol
mostly farming around here-lots of canola, wheat and winter wheat farmers,
lately, the big thing is Pig Farms- its a huge smelly industry, but they pay the most for wages round here...
Lots of Hutterites in this area too....
I like it here, but it sure ain't Toronto- I miss the Tdot... and all the faces there- here it's pretty white-bread- ain't no curry restaurants, for sure!
But here the rent is waaaay lower-
I was paying 900 a month for a tiny studio apt in a crappy neighborhood, here I could pay 350 for a house with a huge yard in town!
We have this tiny mall, and the old retired farmers sit on a bench there everyday- all of them have known me since I was a baby- everytime I go thru and pass one of the old guys, he'll say
See that girl? She's a city girl, you can tell by how fast she walks- no flies on that girl!
People are friendly, nice place to raise kids, but God I do miss the city.
I know what you mean about small towns vs cities... I've lived in Montreal, Toronto and now Vancouver, and I've lived on a farm and out in the middle of nowhere in the Queen Charlotte Islands. I always think that I want to escape the city, and my best friend has moved to a small town. But when I visit her a couple of times a year I can't wait to get home to the city. There's an energy here that I'd miss so much.
Cards arrived today from our honourary Canucklehead, crazy4homer. I think that's probably all we're going to get. But as promised, I will wait until Friday in case our other two lost players show up.
I DO NOT recommend sorting out shiny, colourful ATCs with a rambunctious teenage male cat in the house!

homesick for a city...
Man, I know how that feels.
as much as I love it here, and I do...
I REALLY miss the Tdot- miss the people, the streetcars- everything...
I even miss the sirens late at night roaring past my windows- its jsut so quiet here at night, that I wake up and wonder why its so quiet outside- than i remember- oh- I'm country-mouse right now.. oh yeah!
here the firebell rings everyday at noon- honestly, it does- so we all know its 12:00 and time for lunch.. whenever I head back to the city, I found at noon, that I would listen for it because I really miss the reminder!
Cards are in the mail! Canada Post - do your thing!
Too bad we lost a couple of peeps in the shuffle, maybe they'll find their way over here.
Thank you everyone! This has been great fun for me, and I hope you all enjoy your cards.

Heehee! My cat is older than a teenager yet he still manages to get his paws in just about everything. I have to keep the card sleves locked away so that he doesn't chew them!

I'm in southern Manitoba-a nd believe it or not, we ahven't ahd snow for about a week-
there was some rain yesterday, and we got rid of a fair amount of the stuff-
but alas, we will get at least one good snowstorm before April comes...
funny- why do we call big snowstorms 'good' storms?
Dragoness
03-14-2008, 12:05 AM
Because they're the ones most likely to bring a 'snow day'. Ah the chance to curl up with a hot mug and a good book!

Agreed...I just started 'The Golden Compass' on Saturday (while waiting for the snow to stop) ...primarily because one of the local school boards has banned it, but that's another story...
