Hey all! I'm coming to the party a bit late, but better late than never I guess!
You all been creating up a storm this weekend! Wonderful art in this thread that I totally missed out on! My muse simply refused to cooperate in this endeavor till late last night when these 5 crds were made.
There was little time to post any earlier than this today. I still have 4.5 hours to make some more...if the muse will cooperate!

If anyone wants any of these, please shoot me off a PM. Thanks for looking!

Hayward_cs ~ art can be so raw and real - without meaning to - that it can touch on feelings we sometimes don't even know are there. Your art is made without malice. Your art is just ... your art! I am sorry your friend cried. But within the tears there is healing.

30 years after a horrific experience in my life, I can still have a reaction from seemingly innocent remarks. It is not the fault of the person standing before me ... it is a shadow of Evil Monster from the past ... I can recognize that .. I am sure that your friend can too.

JAW you explained that eloquently and I couldn't agree more. There is healing in art and in confrontation with that which haunts us.

Okay Cheri, You've inspired me. I'm taking a bit of a liberty with this card, the line is from a poem that I wrote after my husband died . It was published so maybe it counts but I couldn't cut up the book it was published in because I'm down to my last copy. Anyway writing poetry was healing for me while I went through the grieving process.
p.s. I was widowed very young and have since remarried andnow have my wonderful husband and 10 year old Son.

Wow--you guys made some AWESOME art!
I planned to try this...had 3 CRAZY and WILD nights at work, so no time to try prepping anything....and I am not really sure my mind works abstractly enough to do this type of art...

I do have to admit...I dreamt about this ALL day while I was sleeping...kept half waking up with what seemed like GREAT ideas...why, oh, why didn't I write them down?

I have a couple hours before I have to get ready to head back out for another busy night at work...maybe I will play around and see what comes out!

RobbyGirl, that made me cry. Instantly. That compacts so much into 11 words. I am . . . amazed.

After a brief pause to read to that to my hubby, get a Kleenex, re-read it, and start crying again, I proceed onward to say here's my next one. There are two people who have right of first refusal on this, but if they pass, I'll mark it Available in the thread. [Sad smile, and a hug for Robin - or maybe a group hug, since I can't stop crying!] [Traded]

Alright, these are my last 2 for this weekend. I had such an awesome time creating with you all, and I want to thank everyone for the fantastic trades you've arranged with me. :D I hope y'all like the cards as much in person as you do in pictures. ;)

Thanks Amyfaerie and RobbyGirl for hosting this Found Poetry A Thon. I can't wait to do it again!

The First one has been TRADED :D

Ok--I made one! LOL

Actually, I wanted input..does this count as "poetry" or just text? I can't really trade this since I made a mistake...forgot I had beeswaxed the background...then, was trying to hurry up the drying process of the paint and used a heat gun, which melted the wax and ruined the look of the images and text...Sigh!

Anyway--since this is my first effort...does it fit the criteria for "found poetry?"

Funny--card is a bit dark, but the words came from a romance novel! LOL

Thanks everyone for your nice words and sharing. I think it's time for me to wrap up since I just put my paint brushes in my Dr. Pepper. This weekend has really produced some fantastic art it's been a pleasure sharing with you all. Amy you are a fantastic co-host!!

I commented in your gallery already, but I'll comment here as well. LOL

I like it. I think that it 'fits'. Modern poetry/verse covers such a broad spectrum that I think the only steadfast requirement is that it comes from the soul (kinda like art.) If you feel it in your soul, it fits ;)
(One of mine came from a magazine put out by my church. Seriously. But not the Cocaine-stained razor blades one ROFL)

Well, that was fun! This is the first time I have been able to participate in any "A-Thon" since I work 12 hour night shifts every weekend.
I came up with a great system for found poetry cards.
I grab a bunch of random book pages. Trying to use only one page per card, I cut out the words for my "poem". When I am happy with the order, I write the "poem" on a pre-cut piece of cardstock. (believe me, it's easy to forget what you "wrote") I then put the cut out words and the cardstock into a plastic sleeve. (I was able to do this much at work.) Later I simply pull out a sleeve, search through my picture/paper stash until I find stuff that fits the "poem" and use the cardstock for a base for the card.
Unfortunately I only got a chance to make 6 cards, but I am in another Found Poetry swap at IATCs for January!

If you want to send a few scans of a few cards, follow the submission guidelines at www.arttradermag.com and maybe sal still needs some cards for the gallery?

thanks so much for playing everyone!
