View Full Version : Collecting the States - DC, NH, VT, WY

03-17-2010, 08:01 AM
I'm working on collecting ATC's from all 50 US States and am looking for one to one trades for the states listed below.

I am looking for hand-drawn/painted, fabric or multimedia collage and will make a cross-stitched, multimedia collage or hand-drawn/painted (my weakness, but I'll try) in return.

I will request that cards (both yours and mine) are posted to our galleries so that there will be satisfaction on both ends before cards are mailed.

Preferred themes:

* The name "Nora"
* I like seashells, dunes, beach grasses, those white-slatted chairs you often see at the beach, sea green, sky blue, white sand, sea glass, beach cottages, especially the porch, nautical rope, starfish, beach umbrellas.
* Books/Reading
* Celestial, especially stars
* Butterflies, especially blue ones
* Horses, anything not cutsey (no collage)

The states I need:

New Hampshire
Washington, DC

I'm going to restrict to five at a time.

1. dina54 - Rhode Island - DONE!
2. KatieV - Delaware - Sent
4. shahe05 - Utah - DONE!

Let's trade! :D

I'll make you a beach/sea themed hand drawn card from Rhode Island in exchange for a cross-stitched card (any theme)
Below are a couple of beach-y cards (traded) that I have made in the past

Those are awesome. I especially like the dune one.

I'll start looking for a pattern for you. I doubt I'll find anything "gothic" but I can do cats, something 'botanical' or maybe even Mardi Gras-ish.

03-17-2010, 11:08 AM
I can do dunes :D I'll get started this w/e. Botanical would be fine. I'm sure that's the easiest to find patterns for.

There was a star fruit one I thought you might like and a cool Persian type cat. But I'm still looking over patterns. I have tons of them.

03-17-2010, 11:35 AM
I LOVE cross-stitch so anything will be fine :D

03-17-2010, 07:53 PM
Hey, guess what I found? A gargoyle pattern! That good for you, dina?

03-18-2010, 12:56 AM
OMG! a cross-stitched gargoyle?...that's cool!

03-18-2010, 07:02 AM
You got it!

03-19-2010, 03:43 PM
just lurking here, but i hope you post the gargoyle norabear, i bet it's awesome!

03-24-2010, 09:42 AM

Ooooh, I found a nifty cross-stitch pattern for you based on Russian nesting dolls. :)

I have finished a card of "The Towers", in Narragansett, R.I., which I am posting for your approval. If you like it, I'll need your address. The original building was built in the late 1800's and at one time was a casino. Most of the building was destroyed in a fire in 1905 leaving only the stone archway intact. The re-built building is now a restaurant and entertainment venue. It is right on the ocean with a gorgeous view!

It's even prettier in person, dina. Thank you! The gargoyle should be on it's way mid-week or so. I finished stitching it yesterday and now just need to back it with a blank ATC and maybe add a flourish or two.

Gargoyle card for dina mailing out tomorrow.

That is too awesome!

Great card Nora!

Must keep hubby away from this thread. If he sees it he will want me to make him one.

I am currently living in VT but I grew up in NH and sometimes go back there.
If I were to send a card, I would be counted as Vermont, correct?

I'd love to send you a card on one of those themes. I do hand-drawn cards mostly these days. Sometimes I break out the watercolors... Haven't in a while, though.

I love your cross-stitch cards. I would love to trade for something of that nature! I've never gotten fiber arts cards really before.

I would like to draw/paint a card for you of the books/reading theme. Is that all right? Can I ask about what your favorite type of books are? :)

05-12-2010, 09:17 PM
Yep, it would count as Vermont. Books/reading would be awesome. Just to let you know, I'm about a month out on getting cards done. Maybe a bit less. My favorite books are urban fantasy, but I also like all fantasy, regular fiction, classics, science fiction, non-fiction, historical romance.

05-12-2010, 10:45 PM
Awesome! I'm glad you're up for this.
I'm fine with a wait. A month is no problem. :)
I am kind of slow lately, too, with getting my stuff mailed out...

Urban fantasy? Like modern-day but with fantasy stuff? "So You Want to be a Wizard"-esque?

05-13-2010, 07:15 AM
Traditional fantasy = elves in woods
Urban fantasy = elves in malls

I've never read "So You Want to be a Wizard" but if there is magic or elves or werewolves or vampires or shamans or witches, etc. in "our" world, that's urban fantasy.

05-15-2010, 02:50 PM
Yeah, that's what that book is basically about.
It's pretty coooool. :D

05-17-2010, 10:30 PM
Hi! I'm from Utah.... I make fabric cards usually embellished with beads and Swarovski crystals. I would trade you a butterfly for a butterfly. I have a pink one in my gallery... so easy just to make a blue one. Your month out would be no problem.

Best wishes,

05-18-2010, 07:26 AM
I would love one of your blue butterflies. They are fabulous! I'll get you on the list.

05-18-2010, 11:56 PM
Great.... I guess I just message you when I'm ready to send it for your address? It will either be on Friday or one day next week. Thanks... Denise

Please realize that I'm running about a month behind at this point. I have a PAT and some RAK's to finish first and I'm a slow stitcher.

05-23-2010, 01:52 AM
Nora: I just saw this thread. You have a VT. card from our trade several years ago in Minneapolis, cause I am from VT. Let me know if you want another one, my friend!

05-25-2010, 09:01 PM
I wasn't at that trade!

05-29-2010, 09:46 AM
I got your card shahe05. Thanks!

06-01-2010, 09:47 AM
Hi there! I'm in CT and would love to help you out. Would a mixed media celestial card be fun to have? Please let me know! :)

06-01-2010, 10:00 AM
Sure thing, just be aware it will be AT LEAST a month before I can get to it.

06-01-2010, 10:04 AM
That's certainly fine with me! Let me see what I can create for you.

07-23-2010, 03:00 PM
Would you like a card form Arkansas? I don't think I saw that state listed. I'm not sure what you are wanting, but I do have some stuff in my gallery, brenda

07-23-2010, 05:58 PM
I have Arkansas covered, but thanks!

07-26-2010, 09:07 PM
The card for shahe05 is sent!
