Wasn't sure where to post this, but is anyone here going to the Art & Soul retreat (May 1 to May 5, 2008) being held in Hampton, Virginia?

OOOH FUN! No, I won't be going to that one, but I went to the Portland event last October and HOPE to be going again this year. I am also going to Artfest here in Washington in April.

No, I don't think I'll be going. But I have a couple of friends that go every year.

this is my first ever retreat, so I'm getting really psyched. I can't wait to immerse myself into 5 days of making art and learning new techniques! it would be so nice to meet anyone from ATCsForAll there if they're going.
Origami Grace - here's the website - http://www.artandsoulretreat.com/ and they have a yahoo group, too - see the details in the website and I think there's a link.

That would be way cool - I'm hoping to catch one of these in the next year or two - be sure to give us a full report when you come back :)

ok, will do! and I'll post some pics of what I made, too. I have classses lined up with Michael deMeng (altered electrical outlet), Diana Trout (acrylic glazes), Albie Smith (handmade papers and book binding) and Kathy Wasilewski (tin souls assemblage). I think it's probably going to be the most fun I've had in years.
That sounds wonderful. If you don't mind, I'd love to see a ballpark estimate of what one would expect to spend--for the workshops, not the other stuff. If you don't wish to post that, I will certainly understand. It just sound so good, and I couldn't see that kind of info on the site.

No problem - I gave a link above for the website - you can see all the particulars there, though most of the classes fall in the area of $100-$135 for full day and @ $75 for half days.

I thought the prices for the classes were pretty good. The hotel where the retreat is being held is pricey though. I got a room for $129/night because I booked it months ago. Now I hear the price has gone higher and they're not honoring the rate originally advertised. I guess they only reserved so many rooms at that lower price. So if anyone does go next year, book your room early!!

HI! I live in the area and will be going at some point during the week. As will some friends who will be taking classes. They took classes last year and absolutely loved it. I heard some really great feedback from them.
Please PM me with info about when you will be there, maybe we can arrange to meet up!

Me, too. I had a conflict with the one in Virginia this spring, but MIGHT be able to swing the one in Portland in the fall, especially as I have friends in the area. Please do let us know what you think!
