How should we handle the tip-ins for the missing moleys??? Just send them to the original artist (who's book is MIA)? Or send them to the next artist in the mailing rotation and they can add their tip in to the previous pages? Or, have a couple of people "collect" tip in pages until they're completed?

These are good questions. Personally I would send the tip-ins to the last person (before the original owner), so that the book would return to its owner completely finished. This does cause problems if the last person is MIA though...

As I already have 2 sets of pages for Lilbad's book, I volunteer to collect the rest if the vote goes that way. I too like the idea of sending a completed book to the owner. I'm not sure about assigning people to collect though, it depends on the individual if they feel comfortable with doing the gluing of other peoples art into a book that isn't theirs.

Yes, I had a voicemail message from her, after I left one for her. Because I simply left a message - did not ask any specific questions (like where are the books...) her message to me was that she is currently away in France on a study trip and will telephone me when she gets back. But she didn't say when she'd get back, and no one has phoned.... I'll be happy to try her over the weekend again - might get a bit of luck

Tipulida - I'm sorry that things that haven't gone smoothly with this exchange. It's hard when we have someone that doesn't check in and we're unable to get in touch with them to find out where our journals are. As for your question regarding Bright Spark's journal, it is still in rotation, so the journal should be mailed to you. You shouldn't have to do tip-ins for her book.

With that being said, though... I feel like we should hold off working on her (Bright Spark) journal until she is back and we know that the missing journals have been located and are back in circulation. What are everyone else's thoughts?

It probably has something to do with me being involved. My first (and only!) PAT had the host go awol with all of the cards - and the same thing happened with the first ever swap I joined! (Luckiy I had at least joined two others and had returns before that became apparent). I don't think I am meant to be involved in things like this... ;-)

The good news - she still has the moleys, so nothing has actually gone missing in the post.

She is going to send them to me. She said she is still up to her neck in boxes, but that she is at the old place tomorrow, so should get them in the post to me Friday or Sat. So with any luck I will have them next week and then we can take it from there.

Whew...at least none are lost. This is my 4th moley exchange. In the first, Katie V's never showed and we all did new pages for her. In Loralou's moley group, I had Loralou's last and mailed it to her old addy in England....never was forwarded to her, so it's gone. Maybe I am the jinx!@

Just so you know what's going on with me, I have 1Oranges completed and will be mailing within the week (need to get out and stock up on bubble envies) so that will be going to Gina-B. I have Brightsparks journal and have been slow to work on it, because of the situation, but I sketched it in yesterday...so that will be going on to Tipulida soon.'Lilbad's pages are done and will also be going directly to lilbad in the next few days.
I hope this is clear?!.. It is too bad when this happens, but the rest should not stop or suffer because of the situation... AS for me, I would rather you send my trades directly to me, since Brightspark has my journal. That way , if my journal is lost , I can at least salvage some for a journal.

Do you think we should all do Brightsparks pages as tip-ins, and wait to see what happens ? Or should I just send hers onto the Tipulida?

Why don't you give me Bright Sparks' when I see you next week. Then when she's back on the site (or responds to my emails), I'll check in with her. If nothing else, I'll simply mail her journal back to her and take her out of the group, if necessary. Hopefully, her life will get back to normal and she'll be able to do tip-ins for us and vice-versa.

I've also been in a moley exchange where two moleys went missing (with the same person being the one that they were last "seen" with)... Everyone did tip-ins and sent them to the original artists. It's sad, but it happens.

Karin, I was with Corrie yesterday and gave her BrightSpark's Moley. I did my pages as a tip-in ( another words, I did them on watercolor paper to be glued into her moley). I asked Corrie not to attach them and so I have her pages done, but am hanging onto them until she gets some of the journals back in circulation. I will then send them to her to add to her journal. Perhaps you could do her pages and just wait to see what happens with her journal? Anyway, I know you haven't had hers yet, so that may be a solution. Anyway , that's where that stands. Pages done, and Corrie has her journal for now.

P.S. I like the pages I did for her and will just use them in a journal for myself if things don't get straighted out .

Well, nothing from BrightSpark yet so I will start chasing again this week.

This of course has put me behind, as I should have finished Lilbad's as a tip-in, but put it off as I am still hoping to get that moley from BS before I post it on, in an attempt to save overseas postage.

When I joined the swap I made a page in my swap journal with the addresses and the mailing order, and I did put them in vertical format for myself. Therefore, I don't need you to do so here, but others may like that if they aren't write it on paper people like me.

It still kills me as I mailed KarenM's book one day before it came out in the thread that Spark wasn't moving anything along yet.Thought I was being efficient & ahead of the game, an instance where simply being on time would have rescued a book.

I am in Texas, we are ahead of normal on our temperatures, it's already been in the upper 90's for a couple weeks now. (yes, really, it's flippin' HOT).
Please put wax paper, parchment, velum, or something in your pages if you use any media that can get sticky. Acrylic paint, gel medium, and Mod Podge are all subject to stickiness when exposed to this heat.

Ok, still nothing from BS.. BUT.. the holiday situation is a bit crazy in this country - last Friday and Monday just gone - both public holidays (for Easter) so no post.

According to how I've figured it out, you should currently be working on mine, so you have finished early.

The next one you will get will be 1Orange's - which is coming from me, and will leave on/near the deadline of May 15! (So, the 16th - I'd like to work on it this weekend a bit before I post it)

So, I figure you can have a well earned rest!

Tip-ins - Brightspark has your moley, GMSS's and KarenM's. So, if you have done the tip-ins for those two, no need to do anything.

And no guys, haven't heard anything over the weekend. Will carry on nagging this week!

Oh, that's ok about the neg then. I suspect she won't though. She didn't even put a return address on the envelope. She sent some cash to cover postage, but I have left a message with her because I'd have been sending two on anyway, so that I can send it back - but without a current address I can't.

And another thing. She put the moleys into sparkly gorgeous, bright, unused bubble-bags, inside another. But I'm really wondering if these wonderful envies will just prove too much temptation for any unscrupulous mail person. (I'd want to know what's inside) and if maybe I should just send them in plain envies to not tempt fate? What do you all think?

It's just so weird to me. I've been a member here for almost 3 years, and Brightspark was active here when I first joined. I can't imagine stopping communication while I still owed something; it would mess up three years of good reputation and just be wrong. I spend a few months away from the site a year ago, but I forced myself to finish everything before I left.

KarenM's moley - Please send to me. I was scheduled to be after Bright Spark, so we'll just finish out the original mailing order. I made the mailing order adjustments on the first post. (The dates are still old, but it will tell you who to mail it to, next.)

Lilbad's moley - PENLOWE, have you did her tip in yet? If not, then Gina will send the moley to you. If you have already sent Lilbad's tip-ins to her, then we will skip down to the next person (that hasn't completed/sent the tip-ins, yet).
