View Full Version : Tarot Card Swap Due April 5, 2011

01-19-2011, 03:45 PM
Tarot Card - Major Arcana - Swap
Due April 5, 2011

Swap Due Date - April 5, 2011
Signup/withdraw date - April 1, 2011
Number of cards - 3 for 3
Theme - Any tarot card from the Major Arcana
Medium - ALL mediums
Size - ATC 2.5 x 3.5
Number of Participants - 50

1. Draw/paint or collage 3 cards depicting any one of the 22 cards from the Major Arcana in a tarot deck. Please pick three different cards to do. Do not draw the same card three different times! You can find a picture of each card in the Rider Waite deck at this website: http://www.learntarot.com/titlema.htm for inspiration. However, you can interpret your card however you like. If you wish to use trees, animals, people, things....doesn't matter. It's your interpretation of what that card means to you.

COLLAGE NOTE: If you are creating a collaged tarot card, please do not use images from current tarot decks either from cards or those published in magazines. Please use other images. You can use the same symbols that are shown in a tarot card, but they must be from other sources. For example: In the moon card you can cut out a picture of a moon, a dog and a crab which are shown in the Rider Waite deck and place the pictures in the same way, but do not cut the pictures from that same tarot card. I hope this makes sense. If you have questions, please pm me.

2. Include Title and number of card on the front. Does not have to be very big since the card is small ATC size....but it should be somewhere on the front. Here are the names of the major arcana:

0 - Fool, 1 - Magician, 2 - High Priestess, 3 - Emperor, 4 - Hierophant, 5 - Lovers, 7 - Chariot, 8 - Strength, 9 - Hermit, 10 - Wheel of Fortune, 11 - Justice, 12 - Hanged Man, 13 - Death, 14 - Temperance, 15 - Devil, 16 - Tower, 17 - Star, 18 - Moon, 19 - Sun, 20 - Judgement, 21 - World.

3. Since each card is your interpretation, it would be nice if you include key words on the back of your card so we know what it means. Or you can include key words on the front of your card as part of the artwork.

4. Please do your best work. Do not rush.

5. PM me for my address when you are ready to send. I live in Utah so if you have a previous address in MN, that's not correct!

6. Please include your username, name, title of card, and medium that was used.

7. Please include a LABEL WITH YOUR RETURN ADDRESS. This is VERY important so that I can return cards to you. You do not need to send a return envelope! I will provide this.

8. You also DO NOT NEED TO SEND POSTAGE! I seriously have a ton of postage I really need to start using. So you are not required to send any. If you want to send an extra card, that's okay. I'd never turn down an extra ATC! But it is not required!

NOTE: You will receive 3 different tarot cards back. If you have a preference for what type of card you want, please make a note of that when you send your cards. I will try to honor the request. However, if nobody creates a Lovers card and that's what you want, then you won't get one back.

I'd be able to do this if it were mixed media collage. My drawing and painting skills are pretty rudimentary. Also, I take it that the cards don't have to based on the Rider Waite deck. You were just giving that as a reference, right?

01-20-2011, 07:59 PM
I"ve just started working on designing Tarot cards utililizing vintage images in new combinations... but in collage format... ( my La Lune/Moon is in my Gallery )...if collage is acceptable, then I"d be glad to do more of the Major Arcana

01-20-2011, 08:33 PM
Okay I am going to change this to ALL mediums. The only thing I ask is that those doing collage do not use images from a published tarot deck. It would be better if you come up with your own images from other types of collage materials or magazines. You can also combine your own artwork with collage.

The Rider Waite deck was only an example of what symbols are commonly found on each card.

Yes Internationals are welcome in this swap.

So now that that is cleared up, who is interested in signing up?

01-20-2011, 09:42 PM
I'd like to join also! Thanks!

01-20-2011, 09:48 PM
Count me in, please. :)

01-20-2011, 09:52 PM
Oh my! You beat me to it! I was thinking of starting a Tarot swap myself, so yay!! Been working with tarot cards and their artwork for years...this is so exciting. Yes, count me in!

Please pencil me in. I am in your other Tarot swap and reckon I could easily make 6-7 cards with the theme I have in mind.

01-21-2011, 03:42 PM
Welcome everyone! So glad to have you aboard. I'm really excited about this swap and can't wait to see what you guys come up with. Please post your artwork to the thread when you can so we can all drool over your cards.

01-21-2011, 07:21 PM
OK, with the change to all media (I can't draw!) and the long deadline, I'd be interested in this - sounds like a great idea for a swap.

Welcome latindolly!

02-01-2011, 01:38 PM
I have started work on a New Zealand Tarot deck.

I've made 8 so far:

Three of which will find their way into this swap. I'm not 100% sure which ones yet, but I will likely keep the Fool and Love for myself, as they are special to me. So naturally, I'm going to picture them here even though they will remain in my collection.

Also, Princessgene, if you can let me know which one is your favourite, I might well include it as a hostess gift (unless it's one I've mentioned as keeping for myself).

02-01-2011, 02:29 PM
Great cards, Lemurkat. I can see why you want to keep those for yourself.

02-02-2011, 01:18 AM
Lovely cards Lemurkat. Of course I would love to have any card you make!

Received cards from Cynthiasillitoe. Thank you.

Just to let everyone know, it is easier for me to do itraders at the end of the swap. So I hope this won't be a problem for you.

02-02-2011, 11:50 PM
Can I join please?

02-03-2011, 03:25 AM
Welcome Zaida!

02-03-2011, 11:00 PM
If there's a slot left, may I have it? Tarot cards are so neat

02-04-2011, 01:31 PM
Welcome Usaecjs2

02-05-2011, 11:21 AM
can you withdraw me. I just can't think of any good ideas.

02-08-2011, 01:27 AM
There seems to be a spot left ... can i still join?

02-08-2011, 01:51 PM
Welcome Suntrade and Michelemergesmarten. Sorry you have to drop CandeeLynn, but I totally understand how that goes. I've been feeling rather dry creatively and unmotivated myself. But if you do think of any ideas and want to rejoin, just let me know.

02-09-2011, 01:43 AM
Great!!!!! Thanks.

02-09-2011, 11:51 PM
Is it too late to join? Thirty slots have been filled but one of them withdrew....
I'd really like to join if I can!

02-10-2011, 10:28 AM
I'm going to have to withdraw - sorry, it's just not happening for me on this subject at the moment!

02-11-2011, 07:08 PM
Please sign me up. Thank you!

02-11-2011, 07:25 PM
Nevermind: I see the list is full.

02-13-2011, 01:40 AM
I will open up the swap for more players. I originally put 30 because I thought that was more than the number that would join. But since there is interest, I will open it up for more. So I have put the following on the list:

If you don't want to be on the list please let me know to withdraw you.

Sorry you have to withdraw Gina-B, but I totally understand. Perhaps next time.

02-13-2011, 10:27 AM
So happy to get in! I'm excited!

Just a reminder though, please put your username (and a creation date would be nice) on the back of your cards. Artist60164, you didn't have your name on the back of your cards so I have added it.

My cards went out yesterday. Thank goodness I noticed I had the numbers wrong before I mailed them. So now they're correct.

03-02-2011, 06:16 PM
I've been having a wonderful time drawing tarot cards! I've decided to do a whole deck. My biggest problem is choosing which cards to swap :)

I've put pics of what I've done so far in my gallery --debs913.

03-03-2011, 12:13 AM
Cards are on thier way!!

03-03-2011, 03:20 PM
Deb, your interpretation of the Lovers is amazing! So creative!

03-03-2011, 04:55 PM
Welcome blueanchors3!

03-04-2011, 10:53 PM
I just want to say up front, I've lost several swap envelopes in the mail recently. I will have to find a different location to mail from. It's SO disappointing. If my cards don't show up, that's why

You never know, they might show up in the end - I just had a set of cards take nearly a month to arrive, but they did! I hope the same is true for yours (though if it's more than one envelope, it does suggest something might be up with your mailing location, it's true...)

03-05-2011, 06:35 PM
I've made four cards for this swap - The Tower, The Wheel of Fortune, The Sun and The Moon. A few of the images on the cards were taken from the classic set - the scorpion on the moon card, for instance (as was the idea for the moon overlaying a sun on that card) and the lightning strike on the tower. The cards are fabric and stitch entirely, and I have to say, I really enjoyed making them - great swap idea!

03-05-2011, 08:18 PM
Love the fabric Tarot majors, Kate!

arty val
03-06-2011, 03:54 AM
katelnorth, your quilted ATCs are fab! esp love the moon!

03-06-2011, 01:03 PM
Those quilted cards are neat! Great cards everyone!

03-06-2011, 05:09 PM
My cards are done. I do not know much about Tarot, but I certainly love Disney, so I decided to put them together.

I think I cold have made a whole deck if I had the time!

Hope you all like them. They are ink and oil in a diamond glaze.

03-06-2011, 06:23 PM
Received cards from Lilthamel and Usaecjs2. Great cards!

Love the cards just recently uploaded here. Wow! Quilted tarot cards. What a great idea.

Suntrade....love your take on the tarot cards using Disney characters. Great idea.

03-06-2011, 06:27 PM
Hurray, mine made it. Thanks, Princessgene for posting that my cards arrived. KatelNorth and Suntrade your cards are great. Maybe I'll be lucky enough to get one of them.

03-06-2011, 06:28 PM
Love the cards just recently uploaded here. Wow! Quilted tarot cards. What a great idea.

Thanks. I like to make cards from fabric whenever it seems to suit the theme... This seemed like a good chance!

03-06-2011, 10:47 PM
Thank you for nice compliments!

03-07-2011, 12:33 AM
This seems like a very interesting and cool swap! I had my future read to me using tarot cards on spring break in New Orleans! Count me in!

03-07-2011, 04:02 AM
katelnorth, I'm not sure I've ever seen sewn/quilted tarot cards before (and I'm a longtime student of tarot and it's art)! The cards are unique, colorful, and quite creative!

03-07-2011, 03:30 PM
Welcome Shellyrosebud. So how was your tarot reading? Was it accurate?

I've had a few tarot readings in the past and they have not been very accurate. But I have had a few psychic readings (and not sure what method they used) that were amazingly accurate. What experiences have other people had?

03-07-2011, 03:34 PM
Forgot to mention that I received Weston Wyse's cards. Thanks!

03-07-2011, 03:48 PM
I'm a certified professional tarot reader (I had training through the American Tarot Association). I don't claim to be a psychic. Yet so far, I've haven't had anyone say I was way off the mark. This may be due to the fact that when I read, I don't use Tarot as a fortune telling device, but as a way to look at one's past and current path, and to peek into where this path may lead a person. Then everyone has the free will necessary to change their future and the information to do it.

I read long distance through my own website for 4 years. Its a little harder to tell long distance how well it works for people, but no one complained and some came back, so I took that as a compliment :)

I've had readings that were very accurate, and some that I couldn't see were right until much later. I find it very hard to read for myself, so I'm always looking for someone to read for me...lol.

Since I have about 25 decks, I became interested in the artwork on the cards and decided that each one I used with people wasn't quite right for me, so now I am going to make my own, eventually ;)

Sorry to ramble. That's just my two cents (or a buck!)

03-07-2011, 09:18 PM
Very interesting Phoenix. I am familiar with the American Tarot Association. I joined many years ago but life got too busy and I stopped studying the cards. I didn't think I was very good at it anyway and I definately cannot read for myself! Although every once in a while I attempt it. But I think it is hard to do it for yourself because you are already biased about certain events in your life and you can't help but hope for a certain outcome so of course you can manipulate the card meanings to come up with what you want. At least that's how I see it when reading for yourself. I did try doing free readings through some website (can't remember the name) just to get practice in reading for someone. But I never got feedback on any of those readings so I have no idea if I missed the mark or was right on.

One thing I always had trouble with are court cards. I never could figure out if it really meant a person or if it meant something else.

03-08-2011, 01:15 PM
I agree with every word you said about reading for yourself/myself. I think it is hard if you are a reader yourself to let go and hear what the cards have to say. Yep I did free readings for a while before studying more and starting my own website.

Court cards were definitely my most difficult challenge. I now use an astrological connection that helps me get a feel for the personality of the courts. The element plus the general idea of Pages, Knights, Queens and Kings helps me put together a kind of profile that might be another person, might be the person themselves, or may just be a general energy in people surrounding them. I hate the interpretations that say *spooky voice* "You'll meet a tall, dark man who will take you for granted!" LOL.

Anyway, its always fun to talk Tarot!! I'm so glad you are hosting this swap!

03-08-2011, 08:39 PM
Interestingly enough....when I was a teenager and had a deck of cards and didn't really know what I was doing, I read the cards just that way. LOL "A dark haired man you haven't seen in many years will suddenly appear at your door." Something like that anyway. And lo and behold within the week, a man I hadn't seen in a long time showed up at my door! Now that was spooky! Scared me so bad that I didn't read the cards again until many years later. But now my problem is I never know if the card represents the person or something else.

03-08-2011, 11:13 PM
I observed some really terrible quality readings back in middle school (granted, the reader was also a middle schooler). While I don't necessarily think that one has to be psychic to give a good reading, I think the person doing it should be able to link the cards together into a coherent story to at least provide a source of advice.

Anyway, I sent my cards (http://www.atcsforall.com/forum/gallery/index.php?n=212595) out today. I hope the swap recipients enjoy them!

03-09-2011, 04:16 AM
I just looked at your cards in the gallery Kavka. They are wonderful! Can't wait to see them in person.

03-09-2011, 07:22 AM
ooh, if there's room I am all about this swap!! thank you!

03-09-2011, 12:20 PM
I completely agree with you, Kavka. The story part of the reading is key, painting a picture for the person. And I'm also a mental health counselor, so I love giving advice (lol...not really). I've found that most of my tarot readings turn into counseling sessions, and if I could I'd take a tarot deck with me to counseling sessions.

BTW, LOVE your cards!

My cards are done and ready to be shipped.

03-09-2011, 07:49 PM
katelnorth, I'm not sure I've ever seen sewn/quilted tarot cards before (and I'm a longtime student of tarot and it's art)! The cards are unique, colorful, and quite creative!

Thanks :) I hope they are also reasonably representative of what the cards might traditionally portray (I didn't stray much from other decks I found). I know very little about the history and theory of Tarot, but I do enjoy the artistry of Tarot cards - fortune telling aside - so I've really enjoyed seeing what people come up with for this swap.

03-09-2011, 09:03 PM
Is it too late to sign up? I would love to play

03-09-2011, 10:08 PM
Welcome Needlestuck and Cardmama. No, it is not too late to sign up. Just remember that cards must be received by April 5th, so as long as I get them by that date, doesn't matter when you sign up.

Received fantastic cards from LadyDoor today. Love the cards Nicky!

Love the cards that have been produced for the swap so far. Everyone is doing such a fabulous job. Can't wait to see them all together when I swap them!

03-11-2011, 01:50 PM
Nice work here!

Phoenix, very interesting. I have never had a card read ... and now I am getting curious!

03-11-2011, 06:02 PM
Oh, SunTrade, it is a wondrous world, for me anyway. Tarot has such an interesting history, and can be used in so many cool ways. Plus the artist in me cannot resist such pretty representations. It has gotten such a bad rap, but tarot really is fascinating.

I also really love the art I've seen posted so far! I have not finalized my images yet, I want them to be just so. But I know they'll flow. I'm actually going to do a mini reading about it to see what is most important to create right now.

Yes, I'm a weirdo, but it works for me! LOL.

03-11-2011, 08:22 PM
Hey never a weirdo! You are so funny.

I guess we are all a little crazy ... just living in this day and age makes it so! i wish I could read cards ... God knows I wish I could know what my future holds, as i am going through a lot right now. But I guess that is not something you can pick in a book It must be another form of art!

03-11-2011, 10:36 PM
I agree with you, suntrade, tarot reading seems to me to be a form of art...as certainly the pure and immense variety of all the cards out there sure are!:D

Here's my designs ( and I guess interpretations, to boot! ) of 4 of them:

The Empress
The High Priestess and

All are digital designs of 9 to 15 layers, some of which will be printed up to re-assemble as collages, which I'll be highlighting with some judicious pen work here and there after the gluing down is done.

I wanted to show them now...as they're HOT OFF THE PRESS!!!....so to speak;)

( Hope Strength isn't tooo Wizard of OZ-like ....it's my daughter's favourite ):D

Also, the 4 are mounted on an old, faded Italian card of The World...thought to place the cards on what I thought were appropriate symbolic corners...

Justice / Angel-Matthew/Aquarius
Strength/Lion-Mark/Leo ........both OK
The Empress might be better served by the Earth-Taurus/Bull-Luke quadrant; and the Priestess by the Water-Scorpio/Eagle-John, but....guess they'll just have to fight it out!

Will need your address soon, please, princessgene

Love the cards Wildgoose! I pm'd you my address.

I received cards from KateNorth, Kavka and Suntrade. Excellent cards everyone! I can't wait for the end of the swap when I have everyone's cards. It will be so fun to see them all together. Now unless anyone asked for a particular card, it will also be interesting to see which 3 cards will be dealt to each player for the returns.

In fact, here is an idea I just thought of....TELL ME what you think!!!!

Each person will receive 3 cards back. This could be used for a mini reading (Past, Present, Future). You could each send me a question and then when I swap the cards I could include a mini reading of how I interpret the cards I swap for you. This of course would be just for fun!!!! I want to stress the word FUN....as I am not a professional reader or a psychic or anything. I just think it would be fun to do. So tell me what you think of this idea and if you want to participate, just pm me a question for your returns.

03-13-2011, 01:56 AM
Almost forgot to mention....RachaelArt you are very welcome to join the swap.

03-15-2011, 02:04 AM
Okay....I guess that wasn't such a great idea. It got suddenly really quiet on here!

Anyway, I have received cards from Deb913, Shellyrosebud and Nicky. Wonderful cards!

I've really gotten into this swap. I've drawn up 10 cards so far! I just have to color them. I'll probably post them this week.

Anyone else have cards they would like to share?

03-15-2011, 10:59 AM
The mini-reading is fun idea if you're willing to do it, princessgene. I will try to get my cards done over the weekend and post them here.

03-15-2011, 11:14 AM
What sort of questions are people suppose to ask for a tarot reading? It's an interesting idea, but I need to know what kind of question I should be thinking up.

03-15-2011, 02:40 PM
Some readers will tell you that tarot cards do not tell the future. They merely give you advice about a challenging situation you are facing. Therefore questions should not be answered "yes" or "no" or begin with the word "should" or ask "about time." Good questions should begin like these examples:

What do I need to know about .....
How can I improve my chances of ......
How might I ....

You could just ask a basic question such as "What do I need to know for this month?"

Hope this is helpful.

03-15-2011, 02:41 PM
Is anyone interested in participating in another tarot swap after this one is over? I was thinking of hosting a swap for the court cards and another for the minor arcana.

03-15-2011, 03:15 PM
I would be interested in both. :)

03-15-2011, 05:31 PM
I think I'd like another swap, too!

03-15-2011, 05:49 PM
You bet!

03-15-2011, 11:18 PM
Yes, I'd be interested in both the court cards and the minor arcana.

03-16-2011, 10:56 AM
Asking a question might be interesting... I've not tried but wonder if I can ask an appropriate question.

03-16-2011, 01:44 PM
If you are interested in asking a question ArtyVal you can pm me if you like.

I most likely will put up the other swaps sometime this weekend if I get time.

03-17-2011, 09:43 AM
princessgene--I would love to do another swap. I am trying to create an entire Tarot deck, so another major arcane or maybe a swap focusing on one of the minor arcanes (cups, swords, etc.) would be so cool!

03-17-2011, 11:25 AM
So glad they made it safe!!! Can hardly wait to see the returns in due time!

03-17-2011, 04:18 PM
Received fantastic cards from cardmama!

As for a swap for the minor arcana....what would people prefer? A specific suit? Or just the minor arcana? The thing about tarot cards is you are not restricted to just cups, swords, pentacles and wands. You can make up 4 different suits of your choosing. I thought it might be interesting to see what people come up with. Some examples include:

vessels, rods, coins, knives
cauldrons, brooms, flames, boulders
bats, pumpkins, imps, ghosts
lances, stones, chalices, swords

Or should we make up our own 4 elements? Let me know what you guys think.

03-17-2011, 05:04 PM
Draw a card and see what comes to you... ;)

I'm up for anything: 3 or the same suit or number. Pick any 3 we like... All good!

03-17-2011, 05:09 PM
I would probably be interested in another swap - I'm not planning to create a whole tarot deck or anything, but I do think it's an interesting idea for a swap!

03-19-2011, 02:38 PM
Well I've gone crazy making tarot cards. I made two versions of Strength and Wheel of Fortune. I would like opinions as to which version you prefer.

03-19-2011, 02:40 PM
Received fantastic cards from ArtyVal today.

03-19-2011, 02:41 PM
I think they all look amazing! I would be excited to get any of them. :)

03-19-2011, 04:52 PM
I agree, PrincessGene, they're amazing! I really like both versions of Wheel of Fortune.

03-19-2011, 10:58 PM
The Goggled-wearer Wheel one and the top-hatted Scarlett O"Hara Strength .../since you asked!

You are taking the words and ideas right out of my head! Before this swap I was trying to figure out how to do a swap that included the minors and courts.

I've been really dying to do a tarot swap of some kind. Then you started this swap, which is a great way to handle majors. I would be interested in any form of tarot swap, and would even volunteer to help you if you wanted (not that you need it!) but that's just how into it I am! It sounds like you have a pretty good idea of how it could work, and I'd love to hear it!

In terms of making a mini reading out of the cards we each get back, I think that is a *great* idea! No one need ask a question, in my opinion. A simple past, present, future spread simply shows one the path they are on and where in may lead in any situation. There is another three card spread I use called "Issue, Action, Outcome" where the first card describes the heart of the matter at hand (whatever that may be), the 2nd indicates and action to be taken, and the 3rd tells of what might happen if that action is taken.

Sorry to ramble on, but as you see, this has been such a part of my world for so long, its hard to keep my yap shut.

Personally, I've got about 5 cards laid out for the swap, but I'm trying to see which ones move me to color and send. I think I'm doing The Empress, Death, The Tower, and The Chariot. Yikes that says too much about me...lol.

Thanks for the opportunity to chat. It seems everyone is having fun with the swap, and like I said, please consider me as a co-host, or just a sounding board if you decide to do another tarot swap. You know I'll at least be a (annoyingly chatty) participant :twitcy:

03-20-2011, 05:34 AM
The Goggled-wearer Wheel one and the top-hatted Scarlett O"Hara Strength .../since you asked!

I agree, tho they are all great!

03-20-2011, 06:29 PM
Hi StudioBlue....I can sign you up but your cards have to be here by Aprl 5th. That's just a few weeks.

03-20-2011, 06:32 PM
Hi Phoenix....thanks for offering to co-host. I'm not sure how that would work. Perhaps I could host the court cards and you can host the minor arcana. Would that work? Let me know your thoughts about this.

03-20-2011, 06:35 PM
Here are my next set of tarot cards completed.

03-20-2011, 06:42 PM
Received fantastic cards from Wildgoose yesterday.

03-20-2011, 07:00 PM
Your cards look brilliant, princessgene!

03-21-2011, 12:06 AM
princessgene, your cards are amazing and a fantastic inspiration!

We should pm about ideas for hosting more tarot swaps. Your idea that you do courts and I do the pips is great. But I'd love to have a sounding board for how this could work...all I know is that I'm thrilled that there are going to be more tarot swaps one way or another, since my dream is to someday create my own deck.

03-22-2011, 10:42 AM
Princessgene, your cards look FAB!

03-22-2011, 12:51 PM
I think I'd like to sign up for this one. I have an amazing idea that I've been meaning to put into a tarot card but haven't had the proper insipration.

03-22-2011, 05:34 PM
Welcome Axisofanarchy. Just remember that your cards must be in my hands by April 5th and that is approaching very quickly!

StudioBlue....I will take your name off the list but if you feel inspired and think you can submit your cards by April 5th then you can still participate.

03-24-2011, 11:38 AM
I really hate to do this because I was looking forward to the swap, but I have not been pleased with the cards I tried making, so I need to drop this one. I'm not sure I can get another set done by the deadline, and these turned out not at all as inspired as I imagined...

03-26-2011, 12:36 PM
Hope you feel better, RachaelArt... :(

03-27-2011, 01:49 AM
Sorry to hear that a few of you have to drop, but it's totally understandable. I appreciate your letting me know. Hope you get better RachaelArt!

03-28-2011, 08:48 PM
Received excellent cards from BlueAnchors3 and Eviledna.

Deadline is approaching soon. Please be sure to send your cards so that they get here by next Tuesday. And if you can't do it, please let me know that you will be withdrawing. Thanks.

03-28-2011, 09:01 PM
I am working on some for me. I'm doing Dragon Age cards with some keywords on them. :)

03-28-2011, 09:13 PM
Sounds interesting AxisofAnarchy! I love dragons!

03-28-2011, 10:03 PM
You'll love my interpretation of Death methinks. It's the Archdemon which is a dragon-like demon.

03-29-2011, 11:58 AM
Here are my cards which are on their way (the scans did not come out well for some reason...the skin color is much smoother IRL)

Very nice Phoenix!!! Your Justice and Star are my favorites.

03-29-2011, 01:36 PM
Beautiful cards, Phoenix!

03-31-2011, 03:17 PM
Yay! Can't wait to see them!

03-31-2011, 04:13 PM
I regrettably am going to have to withdraw to being ill lately. I was really excited about this swap too. :( If you ever have another swap like this, let me know so I can sign up.

03-31-2011, 06:41 PM
Sorry you have to drop out Sammylouise, but I understand. It happens! Actually I am going to put up a new swap, probably later tonight if I get tiime, for the Tarot Court cards. So hopefully you can sign up for that one.

04-01-2011, 12:19 AM
I am sending mine out tomorrow. I will be sure to scan them before I do though. I am glad to see you're doing a swap for the Court Cards as well. I may have to join. ;)

04-01-2011, 04:55 AM
Yay! I've been keeping an eye out for the court card swap...will check again tomorrow.

04-01-2011, 01:15 PM
Here are some more cards I made up for the major arcana.

The Star
The Moon
The Sun

04-01-2011, 01:38 PM
WOW princessgene , your cards are amazing!

I hope I get lucky with one of those!

04-01-2011, 02:34 PM
Beautiful cards, Princessgene! Great ideas in them!

04-01-2011, 10:19 PM
I'm afraid I will have to withdraw. Things have been very hectic lately. Will try to get some cards done for the court swap (before I sign up this time).

04-02-2011, 12:28 AM
Thanks for letting me know Goldenwolf. Hopefully we will see you in the next swap.

04-02-2011, 12:31 AM
Received great cards from LatinDolly today.

04-02-2011, 01:12 PM
Sorry for not posting pics earlier. I'm a little nervous I went a little more abstract but I sent them in anyway:

EDIT: I just realized I messed up the numbers. ;.;

04-02-2011, 09:47 PM
Thanks for posting your pics Axisofanarchy. Did you already send your cards? I could fix the numbers if you like, that is if you've already sent them. Let me know.

Received cards from Phoenix today. Yay!

Deadline is Tuesday. If I still show that I haven't received your cards on the list, please let me know by Tuesday if you have sent your cards or not so I know whether or not to expect them. If I don't hear from you, I will assume you've dropped and I will swap out the cards without yours.

Please note....I hate to do it....but rules dictate that I have to leave a negative if I don't receive your cards or communication that you've dropped. So please let me know your intentions.

04-03-2011, 01:13 PM
Thanks for posting your pics Axisofanarchy. Did you already send your cards? I could fix the numbers if you like, that is if you've already sent them. Let me know.

I was able to correct them before they went in the mail but they are on their way now. Thank you, though.

04-03-2011, 05:21 PM
I have to withdraw from this swap. So sorry. :(

04-03-2011, 05:39 PM
Your cards are great and fun, Axis! I like!

04-03-2011, 06:11 PM
Thanks for letting me know kstyles.

04-03-2011, 07:15 PM
and they look like this. (Assuming I did this right. It's my first time posting images in a reply here.) :policeman: Also, that should say "on THEIR way."

04-03-2011, 10:16 PM
Great cards, wenrl!

04-04-2011, 11:17 PM
Nice cards wenrl!

Yes Gypsysoul, I received your cards today! Very funny cards! LOL I like the humor....I don't know if your cards are in the gallery or not for others to see, but I thought that was hilarious that you used Sarah Palin as the fool! LOL I also liked your judgement card....Bush burning in hell! Who is the guy you used for the Devil?

Also received very nice cards from gbennett1989.

04-05-2011, 03:32 AM
Here are two more cards I made. The High Priestess and Justice.

04-05-2011, 01:03 PM
More amazing cards, princessgene!

04-05-2011, 01:07 PM
I am so excited about this swap! These cards are all so much fun!
Can't wait to see what I get!

04-06-2011, 09:13 AM
Love your cards princessgene. What materials do you use?

04-06-2011, 07:50 PM
Debs913....I just use colored pencil and marker on smooth bristol paper.

Received great cards from wenrl and axisofanarchy today.

Hopefully I will get some time tomorrow to swap these out. I work this week so it's kind of hard to find a block of time, but hopefully I'll get these out before the end of the week.

04-06-2011, 10:21 PM
To say I"m looking forward to these is an under-statement,fershure!

04-07-2011, 12:28 PM
princessgene: I am so glad you received mine. I was a little nervous. I am looking forward to returns as well. Everyone's are so great. I can't wait for the Court card swap either.

04-09-2011, 01:00 AM
Cards should go in the mail tomorrow! I just to do one more final check to make sure I didn't give you your own cards back. But just in case I do, or there is some other problem with your returns, please pm me and I'll see what I can do.

04-09-2011, 01:14 AM
In case you are interested in statistics....

I counted each card that was received and there was at least one card from each of the 22 cards in the major arcana.

The most popular cards were....

1. The Moon with 10 cards received.
2. The Sun with 9 cards received.
3. And it was a tie for 3rd place between The Empress and The Tower with 8 cards received for each one.

The least popular with only one card received for each one were....

1. The Emporer
2. The Heirophant
3. The Chariot

04-09-2011, 01:53 AM
Cool! I'm glad it worked out that each card was represented in the swap!

04-09-2011, 02:59 AM
That IS cool! (I actually almost sent you a Happy Squirrel card!)

Was the Chariot mine?...or did that one make it into the other swap? :D

I am really excited to put together a deck of ATC tarots, and then show them off to all my crazy tarot friends!

And on a weird sort of related note...I just sold out my latest deck! Whew! I am SO glad I don't have to print any more of those damn penguins!

04-09-2011, 05:29 AM
Chronata....I didn't count the cards that were for the illustratedatcs swap. So your chariot is probably sitting in the envelope for the other swap. I didn't even think about that swap when I was counting the cards. Anyway...you keep talking about these penguin tarot cards. Do you have pictures of them? I'm just curious to see what they look like.

04-09-2011, 01:12 PM
Oh! Yeah...I never really showed them off...but this was a full 78 mini deck on the natural world of the 17 different species of penguin.
The edition was only 50, because it's really hard to hand cut so many cards!

04-09-2011, 04:10 PM
Here are two more cards I made. The High Priestess and Justice.

My goodness - they're just amazing!!!

04-09-2011, 05:57 PM
Fun to see that the moon and sun are most popular

Well, I admit I did both of those- I think because they were fairly easy to come up with a design for! I toyed with some of the more obscure ones like the heirophant, but couldn't think of anything obvious to do with them...

04-09-2011, 07:12 PM
I did a moon, sun *and* empress. They're probably so popular to make since the imagery that goes along with them is more accessible than some of the other cards.
That being said, I'm going to try to work with the 'harder' major arcana cards in the future for the sake of diversity.

04-10-2011, 01:14 AM
Love your penguin cards Chronata!

Well cards have been swapped and put into the mailbox. Of course, being it is Saturday, and it didn't happen until late, they probably won't start their journey until Monday. But at least they are done and out of my hands.

I just thought I would let everyone know that with your cards I included a little card reading based on the 3 cards you are receiving. It's more like a fortune cookie reading or a daily horoscope as they are all about one sentence long. I'm also NOT psychic!!! Just want to make that clear and I did this just for the fun of it. So take it however you like--serious or not. Hope everyone likes their returns!

04-10-2011, 07:27 AM
I have left itraders for everyone. If I missed you, please let me know.

04-10-2011, 10:06 PM
Cool! Thanks for all the work you did!

04-10-2011, 10:46 PM
I just started at the beginning and made them in order.

Actually, I'm a little stuck on what to do for the sun, moon and star in my collection!

I guess it helps if you have a specific theme for your deck - like mine is "New Zealand, Naturally".

04-11-2011, 02:33 PM
I confess, I did the Chariot. LOL!

04-12-2011, 11:24 PM
This was such a fun swap. I really love working with Tarot and it's great to see everyone's interpretations! I got cards from AxisofAnarchy, GypsySoul, and someone unnamed. (It's a gorgeous High Priestess with a handmade green paper envelope? Let me know who you are, please, so I can leave feedback.

Thanks, princessgene! I can't wait for the Court cards...still making up my mind as to which ones I want to do.

04-13-2011, 02:04 AM
Glad you enjoyed the swap Cynthia! I think those cards were made by Artist60164. I had already swapped out the cards before I realized they were not signed on the back. Through process of elimination, I think they belonged to Artist60164.

04-13-2011, 12:13 PM
Ok, great, thanks!

04-13-2011, 08:34 PM
recieved my cards today. they are beautiful. thank you nightvamp, SunTrade, and artyval thanks so much for hosting also princessgene

04-14-2011, 12:46 PM
I just received my cards today and they are amazing! Beautiful cards princessgene, chronata and westonwyse!! Thanks, too, princessgene, for doing the swap and for all the work you put into it and the reading! Great job!

04-14-2011, 01:04 PM
All cards were mailed so hopefully nobody's got lost in the mail.

04-14-2011, 02:11 PM
Got mine today and you have no clue how appropo these cards were to my life right now. My 5th grade teacher was killed in a car accident a few weeks ago and just yesterday, I found out a friend of mine committed suicide. The fortune that came with these cards was such a comfort.

04-14-2011, 04:24 PM
I'm sorry to hear that AxisofAnarchy. I'm glad what I wrote was a comfort, although I don't remember which cards I gave you or what I wrote. I didn't keep a copy of anything I wrote on everyone's cards.

04-14-2011, 04:27 PM
It was The Tower, Judgment, and High Priestess.

To find hope in your past wisdom in this time of turmoil.

04-14-2011, 04:30 PM
oh ok. Thanks.

04-14-2011, 06:16 PM
Sorry to hear your news, Axis, and my best wishes go out to you...

04-14-2011, 07:31 PM
I am so very sorry for your losses, axis! (I still owe you a card from the tarot MMH)

I have such a love of all tarot art, and I got three amazing cards this time around!
Death from our wonderful awesome magical hostess,
a really super fabric Wheel of Fortune from Katelnorth
and a fun Octo-Lovers from Debs!

Thanks for such brilliant cards!

04-14-2011, 09:45 PM
I'm sorry too, Axis. I'm glad you found solace in the reading. Mine was scarey it was so "right-on." Princess you should go into the business. I received fantastic cards from arty val (The Moon), Latin Dolly (Fool) and Chris Carroll (Justice). Thanks also for the great card with Strength on it. Now off to do itrader and reps. This was great.

04-14-2011, 10:10 PM
lemurkat for stars you should do the Southern Cross of course :)

04-15-2011, 12:37 PM
Gypsysoul I am currently hosting the tarot court cards. Did you sign up for that one? Later I plan to host the pips and then maybe host the major arcana again. I really enjoyed hosting this swap and loved seeing everyones interpretationd.

04-15-2011, 02:10 PM
Glad you found it Gypsysoul. I'm not quite sure how to put links to swaps in my messages.

04-15-2011, 05:46 PM
Got my returns today for this swap and they are truly spectacular - I got a Tower from wenrl, a fool from shellyrosebud and a Magician which is unnamed and I think must be one of the cards from Artist60164 (it was in an envelope of handmade paper). I also really like the card which came with the returns - you put a lot of effort into this swap, PrincessGene - a big thank you to you!

04-15-2011, 06:48 PM
What can I say? I have received the most beautiful returns from a swap, and have had a great experience with a very special and generous hostess!

I got cards from Lemurkat (Chariot), Nicky (Death), and princessgene (High Priestess). Such wnderful artwork and meaningful cards. Thank you for the mini reading, princessgene, it was right on (the tarot never lies!)

Thank you again, everyone!

04-16-2011, 09:29 AM
Received great cards from Lemurkat, Kavka and LadyDoor.... thanks for hosting this great swap and for the reading!!

arty val
04-18-2011, 08:44 AM
My cards flew in! NICE!

Cards from Lady Door (The Hermit), blueanchors3 (The Star) and Nightvamp (The Tower). :)
Princessgene: Thanks for hosting this swap and the interesting reading. I'll tell ya if it works out that way.

04-26-2011, 05:16 PM
It took a fair while, but now they are here!

Thanks to

Nicky for The Hermit, usaecjsz for the Empress and katelnorth for The Tower... a coloured pencil work, a paper and pen collage and a fabric piece...delectable diversities!:)

Thank-you, princessgene for being the originator of a great swap.....( and of course I look forward to a repeat );)
...and advice taken!

05-20-2011, 01:07 AM
Got mine! They were late cos I was in the same swap in IllATCs and wanted to save Princessgene some postage.

Colorful Magician from duckduckgoose
The Tower from ShellyRosebud (it's nice but a bit concerning - we've had enough fall down around here!)
The Empress by Phoenix (hope that's saying my imagination is fertile, not me ^^)

Thanks all for the lovely cards.
