Okay ready?

Guess what kind of trees - I live in Florida and of course have green foliage all year long your job is to guess what kind of trees I have in my yard.

I have 6 trees but only 3 different types - post your guess and whoever gets it right wins! Good luck players!

02-19-2011, 03:23 PM
Since I live in Florida I will give good guess... Palm tree, Magnolia tree, and maybe a Oak tree?

02-19-2011, 03:26 PM
palm tree, orange tree, and lemon tree

02-19-2011, 03:33 PM
Wow good call on the fruit trees AmericanHwyFlower. I should have thought of that, I wish I had fruit trees in my yard.

02-19-2011, 03:43 PM
Hmm, palm tree, cypress and pine tree?

02-19-2011, 03:49 PM
Cypress and water ash?

02-19-2011, 03:51 PM
Hint - hint: Ok so far only 1 person has guessed 1 of the trees we have.

02-19-2011, 03:52 PM
Hmm imma say pine, oak, and orange tree

02-19-2011, 04:10 PM
Harder than I thought: 2nd hint-hint Oak is right! The rest wa, wa, wa! Wrong! Ok so keep going - now you have 1.

Just Ducky
02-19-2011, 04:10 PM
what ???? a tree guessing contest ???? and no pictures ??? bummer...

poor ducky, ain't got no idea of what trees they got in Florida... here in Michigan if it isn't a pine tree all the rest look alike... like kinda dead looking....
guess I goona have to do a web search for.... sunny states ....trees...
Dena, you got toooo much free time on your hands....:jiggy:

02-19-2011, 04:20 PM
Pictures - oh Ducky that would be too easy. Should I give more hints?

Okay hint-hint: No fruit trees.

02-19-2011, 04:37 PM
bottle brush tree? sycamore tree and then the oak...

02-19-2011, 04:37 PM
wait a minute what about a nut tree? do you have nut tree?

02-19-2011, 04:39 PM
Uh-oh tekamarie lives in Florida - do you think she'll be driving down to my house to check out my trees? So far she's only got the oak right. Oh - no nut trees!

02-19-2011, 05:13 PM
hummm.... since I used to live in Louisiana, I will guess cypress, palm, oak, and/or magnolia.

02-19-2011, 05:15 PM
ohhh... what about Crepe Myrtle? Ours kept leaves all year in LA. They drop in Maryland. :(

02-19-2011, 05:38 PM
We used to have a Crepe Myrtle but a bad storm took it out a few years ago - I loved that tree.

But...since little Ducky is whining about no picture - here's a photo of the 3 trees in our front yard.

02-19-2011, 05:48 PM
Ok, I wanna play, ............I'm guessing, some kind of Oak, red Maple , and Mimosa

02-19-2011, 06:01 PM
Peach, Apple, and Mango trees!

02-19-2011, 06:05 PM

02-19-2011, 06:40 PM
Man so many plants around us in the world yet we know animal's names even better, even though some arnt even where we live lol. So oak is there. Pine? Spruce? Um... Redwood (idk if there any of those dwn there)

02-19-2011, 06:56 PM
Mimosa... I love that tree, even though it can get a little messy. Speaking of messy, I have a HUGE mulberry tree, a crab apple tree and a north american persimmon tree in my backyard. Flies can be a big problem come summer! Birds are everywhere though. Don't be surprised if you eventually see some bird paintings popping up in my gallery!
Did anyone mention Maple yet? Don't know how well they do so far south...

02-19-2011, 06:59 PM
Ppfftthh this little mousie has NOOOOOO Idea what would be growing in your garden..LOL Those trees in your picture don't even look like any trees I know.... heehee and our OAK trees look nothing like your oaks, so I am just going to sit and enjoy the guessing game on this one...LOL

02-19-2011, 07:26 PM

My last swap I played a few little games and everyone loved it - of course there are prizes (I send out with your swapped ATCs) so please join in the fun!

Okay ready?

Guess what kind of trees - I live in Florida and of course have green foliage all year long your job is to guess what kind of trees I have in my yard.

I have 6 trees but only 3 different types - post your guess and whoever gets it right wins! Good luck players!

Mmmm I am giessing the Brazilian Palm Tree. .....

02-19-2011, 08:08 PM
My guess on the trees- Pine, Oak, Palm?

02-19-2011, 10:05 PM
Thumbzink - please - please get out your books. You tree lovers are a little lacking in the tree identification category. :swoon:

HINT: READY - the middle tree in the picture is native to India and the tree supposedly has healing properties - they make capsules, extracts and salves from the leaves, bark and twigs.

02-19-2011, 10:06 PM
orange, lemon & mimosa

02-19-2011, 10:19 PM
Picture of the trees for our little game is at post #91 - guess what kind of trees they are. One has already been confirmed as an Oak - that just leaves 2 more. Come on guys - there's a prize for the winner. A new car - well not really a car but some kind of craft prize!

Here's a catch up on the hints:

All guesses up to now except for Oak have been wrong.

None of the trees are fruit trees.

The middle tree in the picture is native to India and the tree supposedly has healing properties - they make capsules, extracts and salves from the leaves, bark and twigs.

02-19-2011, 10:25 PM
tekamarie... we here in CA have much of the same climate and trees as FL.. that was why i guessed that.

02-19-2011, 10:45 PM
Ok, how about Acacia? Mimosa?

Just Ducky
02-19-2011, 11:58 PM
wow... that picture really helped.. my super guess is..
1..... green
2..... tall
3..... bushy

so OK... I ain't a good tree person... but I still love them...

if ya have time... I got cute TRUE story... went to a Christmas tree farm one year to cut our own tree... bunch of kids and people running wild, looking for just the RIGHt tree... this one young family was nuts... and the wife standing right behind me said.... Henry, guick come here.. I love this one... I turned to see what she picked.. IT WAS DEAD... her husband came and looked a long time... but only said that he thought it was just not looking right... keep looking... but she was so taken by this beautiful totaly BROWN tree.... said it was different...
(I told ya she was nuts)... I sure wish he would have cut that dead tree down and taken it up to the tree loading men....
there they put your tree on a shaker to fell any LOOSE needles and them wrap it for easy to place on your car......... can you imagin what her Brown tree would have looked like after the tree shakey thing ???? ( I know the guys up front would have done it, just to see her tree in a pile of needles....)

02-20-2011, 12:31 AM
How about a Elm tree and a Neem tree?

02-20-2011, 01:16 AM
Oh Ducky that is so funny and your guess is soooo close - not!

But tekamarie good guess - Neem tree is right.

Last hint: The 3rd tree has small red berries on it. That should be a dead give away!

Just Ducky
02-20-2011, 02:06 AM
dead ??? did you say dead give-away ???? does this mean I have one rite ???? NO????? bummer

02-20-2011, 03:50 AM

(not trying to gess what trees,
but trying to make some tree-cards before signing up ;) )

02-20-2011, 04:08 AM
JustDucky-LMAO you are comedy lol (green, tall, and bushy)

neem tree? never even heard of it lol

Red berries you say? hmm holly tree?

02-20-2011, 04:12 AM
Uh-oh watch out Boekwrm if you lurk around here lacemuse will seek you out and twist your arm to join us. haha

02-20-2011, 04:22 AM
OK tree guessers we have the 3rd - a Holly tree was guessed by Threshold90. So since tekamarie and Threshold90 both guessed 2 out of the 3 tree species we will call it a tie.

Congrats Blake and Teka!!! I'll send your prize with your swapped cards!

02-20-2011, 04:26 AM
Is this full? I notice a lot of ppl. If not, I'd like to get in.

02-20-2011, 07:04 AM
Hey shayNOLA as I read back through the forum I noticed you were awesome at pulling a lurker into the swap - good job. I think you should be the swap charmer. What do you think? Of course remember - if you need any arm twisting Henchman lacemuse can help you out. Watch out for those lurkers - we want them to play!

02-20-2011, 07:15 AM
A big welcome to MACE - so happy to have you join the swap.

Also I'm happy to see that you gave in Wil Opio Oguta - it really was the only sensible choice. haha

Threshold90 - is happy about being one of the 2 winners for our game - he says he never wins any contests. (Gee I hope he read that I was only kidding about the prize being a new car - wouldn't want him to be all disappointed when some craft items arrive at his house.) Oh and thanks for showing the love about the forum - I appreciate it!

02-20-2011, 08:45 AM
Sign me up please....I love trees!

02-20-2011, 09:07 AM
I honestly wouldn't know what kind of trees would florish well in Florida! :)

I've worked on a set of 6 cards yesterday, will be sending in 3 for the swap and posting the other 3 to my gallery for trade (after this swap is finished I think).

The tree is stamped on watercolor paper with distress ink, and I colored it in using ecoline inks. Then I added blossom (though on the third one it more looks like red cherries!) in form of liquid pearls. I hope you like them.

02-20-2011, 07:48 PM
May I please join? My trees won't be hand-drawn though, far too many talented artists to try and get my drawing skills to compete (I have improved - my drawings no longer look like they have been done by a 2 year old with bad crayons, they now look like a 3 year old's with slightly better crayons :skeptical::D)

02-20-2011, 10:24 PM
:jiggy:Yay - yay - yay!! 2 more players I am so excited! Welcome to the swap to octocat and Donnacr I am so happy to have you both.

Oh and Donnacr I'm so happy to know you are on the same drawing level as I am - 3yr old. haha I always say that I'm just happy if my 3 1/2 yr old grandson recognizes the animals I draw for him when we craft together - it's so nice to draw for someone who doesn't expect much. hee-hee I like it when the players in my swaps have varied techniques - it makes it more fun for swapping.:D

02-21-2011, 06:19 AM
Ducky You tell a great story! heehee....

02-21-2011, 06:42 AM

Had to laugh at that - that's about what my hand drawing skills look like (actually, I work in a Year 3 class - that's 7&8 YOs - and they are all impressed with my drawing abilities. They are the only people who are, though!!)

02-21-2011, 11:44 AM

02-23-2011, 11:49 PM
Yeah I have fun doing perspective, and love drawing trees (mostly dead ones LOL) South Dakota is awesome. I'm a transplant from Ohio and glad i did.

Just Ducky
02-24-2011, 12:03 AM
oh goodie... hi Mace... glad you like doing dead trees too... since I don't draw to well
I can do dead trees... well not really dead but kinda dormat for fall and winter...

02-24-2011, 03:11 AM
I like that description Just Ducky - they aren't dead trees they are dormant trees. haha!!!! Oh and that tree description - the tall one hmmmm - no wonder you didn't win the Guess what kind of trees game - haha! You are so fun to have in the swap!!!

02-24-2011, 03:25 AM
:) Everyone in here is so funny about trees... I love them but think my cards do not look tree like enough... back to the drawing board... Love this swap :D

02-24-2011, 04:10 PM
Cards came in from alanabannana today - they are great -and the colors in the 2 Zetti style cards are so vibrant - really awesome.

Maybe you will have to talk to Ducky about how to draw leaves since your other 2 cards are very leafy - haha - Ducky says she can only draw "dead" or "dormant" ones. Silly girl she is!

02-24-2011, 04:15 PM
Welcome to the swap Baitu. She signed up through a PM but hopefully we'll see her in the forum soon. Glad to have you join!!!

02-24-2011, 05:43 PM

02-25-2011, 12:30 AM
I would never kick any of my players cards under my sofa - I value every card as if it was a 1909 T206 White Border #366 Honus Wagner baseball card. (For those who don't know it's the most valuable baseball trading card $1,500,000.00) See how much I love you guys!

Just Ducky
02-25-2011, 01:27 AM

02-28-2011, 07:48 PM
Hello All,
Here are my trees. I admit that they are very simple and I only used one type of medium, but I love their bold shapes and deep colors and how the oil pens applied like butter onto the paper canvas. I hope you like them.

ICraft... they will go postal shortly!:jiggy:

02-28-2011, 09:22 PM

03-01-2011, 01:50 PM
At last, the lurker Art101, has finally given in and is joining the fun.;)

Yes Boekwrm there are some mighty majestic trees being created around here. Perhaps you need a little woodland fairy to be your muse and help you create some trees...hmmm... where to find a woodland fairy.:cute: Ok that's the best I could do - we'll just pretend it's a woodland fairy muse. haha

Oh AmyMax don't we have awesome players in the swap - talented and kind hearted - the perfect combo!!!

OOOOh, so private requests go on around here? I had no idea! But now I have an idea...ha ha ha

03-02-2011, 03:08 PM
On occasion in my swaps I will get a PM or two about a special card - you know how it is - sometimes there is a card that is just for you and you must have it - right? I mean sometimes there is money involved - $100 or so for the perfect card but if you really want it then it's worth it. hahaha TOTALLY kidding about that - the moderators just had a heart attack - no - no - I would never take money for a swap.;)

03-02-2011, 03:13 PM
Elena - your gorgeous trees arrived today - but 4 host cards? That's a bit much don't you think? Oh wait - you are doing 6 for 6 - haha! (Such a funny girl today :jiggy: - or so I think) But there's still an extra for me - yay! The cards are awesome and I'm glad more players will have the opportunity to receive one of your beauties!

03-02-2011, 06:06 PM
Climbing the stairs to my art-attic this evening
there was a strange singing voice coming from behind the door.
A strange greenish light was shining through the cracks!! :wideeyed:

What should I do?

I peeked round the corner and...
saw a real woodland-fairy :wubclub:
working my paints and scissors and glues and more.
She was happily creating some decent trees for me.

This thread cracks me up. So many jolly tree creators. Who knew trees were connected to the funny bone.

I knew it BOEKWRM the Woodland Fairy muse worked - yay I can't wait to see what she helped you create. haha

No-no players it's not the host cards that make me happy - well they do but it's just all these pretty trees - think about it - even without any host cards I'm going to get to admire over 150 beautiful trees - oh it's so fun!!! If you guys don't get your returns you'll know why - haha I made off with those 150 trees - I'll have the largest ATC tree collection ever - :swoon: Oh wait no - no I must stay strong - I can't become a suspended or banned player!! hee-hee The trees are making me go kooky.
