Pocket with a Surprise, Round 2- due June 10th
Number of cards- 3 for 3
Number of players-?

Every card must have a pocket. Inside each pocket must be a surprise which can be moved from the card. Surprise ideas could be things such as a twinchie, an inchie,... a poem....a quotation...a paper doll... a little book....origami...an altered photo....a note..... and so on and so on.

Cards should arrive in sleeves and every card must be different.

Mailing Directions- Everyone must provide a self-addressed envelope.
US players-send along at least 61 cents in postage.
International players-send along a dollar if you can. Otherwise I will cover postage.

As usual, I do swap out on time and I do not wait for late cards.

This go-round will be a NO SIGN UP swap. You can talk in the thread but there will be no sign ups. I will record whose cards I receive.

Arrived Cards...

Cheryl S...5/6
Cathy1 ....5/8
Poet Artist Girl...5/11
cecileb.. 5/16

Please add me to the list

04-14-2011, 11:56 AM
Not making a list until I receive cards. But yes, this swap is fun...at least round 1 was!

This is my first hosted no sign up swap. I like to try out different things.

04-14-2011, 12:43 PM
i think ill do this XD

04-14-2011, 02:41 PM
PM me for my address when your cards are ready...who will be the first on my received list??

04-14-2011, 06:00 PM
What a fun idea! Lurking. . .

04-14-2011, 06:37 PM
Oh my gosh I love this will do cards ASAP. So many ideas so little time.

04-14-2011, 07:45 PM
So it doesnt matter how we do the pocket or how big right? and there has to be a suprise of anything in it right?

04-14-2011, 08:12 PM
Sounds like fun. I would like to join.:spinny:

04-15-2011, 12:32 AM
Make your surprise something interesting. Last time, some pockets were large and some were small. Some people made their entire card with fabric.
If you decide to share on the thread, don't show the surprise (or it won't be a surprise!) just show your pocket.
How you create your pocket is up to you. This is an open theme, just got to have that pocket with a removeable surprise.

04-15-2011, 04:42 AM
This was such a great swap the first time around I will definately be sending in a set of cards.

04-15-2011, 08:11 AM
ok, thanks for the explanation Nancy ^^

04-15-2011, 10:07 AM
Ooh fun! please add me! Thanks.

Mrs Ragbrutty
04-15-2011, 11:14 AM
A very challenging idea - I shall just lurk and play - I don't want to sign up to anything before I know I'm going to achieve.

04-15-2011, 11:16 AM
tjs and MrsRagbrutty, its a no sign up swap ^^ so you can make the cards, but if its something you dont like or cant get the cards in, theres no penalty! Thats one reason I love no sign up swaps ^^

04-15-2011, 05:48 PM
Not making a list until I receive cards. But yes, this swap is fun...at least round 1 was!

This is my first hosted no sign up swap. I like to try out different things.

Nancy- I swear by this!!!! IT makes life so much less complicated.:chatterbox:

Cat's Cradle
04-15-2011, 05:55 PM
I'm gonna lurk and see if I can work something up this time.

04-15-2011, 06:52 PM
Already I am enjoying not having to add players and I really don't like doing a Wait List.
Maybe the only disadvantage is that you can't limit players, but many of my swaps are unlimited anyway.

04-17-2011, 04:53 AM
The great thing is real life happens and no one has to sign up and then withdraw and all the other mess. If they send, they are in! I have been doing it for about a year now and if it is just a general swap, haven't had any problems. No body has to feel bad about anything! Its a win win situation.

04-18-2011, 12:38 AM
interesting swap...

04-18-2011, 07:21 AM
Oh I loved this swap first time around but unfortunately wasn't able to participate back then. Since it's a no-sign up swap I can't say "sign me up please" but well you get the idea ;)

04-20-2011, 08:38 PM
sounds like fun

04-24-2011, 06:39 AM
I'm in - surprises are my favourite thing!

04-24-2011, 04:11 PM

04-24-2011, 04:26 PM
fun fun...must nab this thread!!

04-25-2011, 04:36 PM
And whose cards will arrive first?

04-26-2011, 07:27 AM
I'm going to have to think about this one - perhaps I'll find some cool surprise appropriate item on my vacation to include in cards! Love looking for inspiration.

04-26-2011, 11:06 PM
First cards have come from PAMI.

04-27-2011, 01:44 AM
Wow, I just made one of these for a 1 on 1. I have to think of a few new ideas and maybe I'd like to join.-No wait I do want to join!

04-28-2011, 06:25 PM

04-29-2011, 12:20 PM

04-29-2011, 03:11 PM

04-29-2011, 03:16 PM
Anybody got any they can post for "show and tell"? I'd love to see what people are doing! (I'm thinking about this one).

04-29-2011, 07:16 PM
Ok I have one of my pockets fullhttp://www.atcsforall.com/forum/gallery/index.php?n=224024 Ok since it won't move to my post. (There is something with my computer that doesn't want to do this task) It is in my gallery. The little baby doll has a hand stitched romper on.

04-29-2011, 09:48 PM
If I told you what the surprise in the pocket was it wouldn't be a surprise now would it??? ;)

04-30-2011, 10:13 AM
I've done ATC sizes purses as my pockets. The fabrics don't ever scan well for some reason. I think they're so cute that I'm going to have a hard time mailing them.

05-19-2011, 07:51 PM
Nancy, My cards are off to you today. Could you tell us what some of the surprises are, without telling us who made what, Please. We'll still be excited and surprised

05-25-2011, 12:12 AM
Jennie, your cards arrived. thanks for the host one.
Maybe I'll share of the surprises, but not at this time. I have three other active swaps going on as well as recording returns from another. AND we have house guests coming a week from today. My art space is gone! I still have to make 3 beds, iron the rest of the wrinkled shirts, and grocery shop and make the garage into a play house and art space, and I'm sure there are a few more things to do. the guests will our younger son (that's right, we are also holding a surprise birthday party for him and doing games and gifts and prizes) and his wife and daughters...Rani 5 and Diya 3. Too busy to spit even!

05-25-2011, 07:55 PM
WOW Nancy, You are far braver than I. I'm afraid that I'd hide in the bedroom with a pillow over my head if I had to think about all that. Good luck

05-26-2011, 01:49 PM
Skip the ironing darlin'. Wrinkles are artistic expressions in clothing. :cute:

05-26-2011, 10:26 PM
that's a thought.
the art room is almsot a bedroom. One bed is made and much of the art stuff is in the closet and covered by an old tablecloth to make it less interesting to any little people who open the closet.
I am looking foraward to seeing and playing and reading to my granddaughters....Rani, almost 5 1/2 and Diya, 3 1/2.

05-26-2011, 11:18 PM
Have a wonderful time with them Nancy

05-28-2011, 12:02 AM
Okay, I've been silently lurking and realize the due date is soon. How long does mail take to reach you from the continental US? (Michigan, specifically, but any state will do.)

05-28-2011, 01:31 PM
If you send them priority it's 2 days. I sent them normally, can't afford priority and it took 6 days from Arizona. So you might want to add a couple

05-28-2011, 05:25 PM
The us mail is completely undependable. Sometimes prioity mail does take 3 to 5 days and sometimes it takes longer. I would allow at least a week.
You could always have the distinction of being my first late player for any of my swaps. But I do swap out on time and these cards will be going out the 2nd of July.
You could just make the cards today and send them soon and not worry. Let me know if you want to sign up, as those gates are closing on the the of June.

05-28-2011, 11:57 PM
@Jennie - Thanks.

@NancyL - uhhhhhhhh.. I'd rather NOT have that distinction. :) Allowing a week will be fine; I can mail them Tuesday after Memorial Day. That would be a solid 10 days before your June 10 deadline. However, if cards are being distributed July 2, doesn't that provide some leeway? ...Or have I totally missed something?

05-29-2011, 12:31 AM
I'm a little confused myself. This swap is due June 10th and its a NO sign up swap.
Another swap is due July 1st. A sign up one.
So you have from now until June 10th to get your cards here for Pocket with a Surprise Swap.

05-29-2011, 01:39 PM
It's ok Nancy I'm always confused

05-30-2011, 11:08 PM
Im sorry but I gotta drop out. Its been hectic here and I just dont have the time to finish them

05-31-2011, 12:32 AM
That's the joy of a NO sign up swap. The host does not have to deal with withdrawals or wait lists, just with the cards that actually arrive.

06-01-2011, 09:59 AM
My cards are done and ship to you today. Gives me 10 days to reach you. If not, then I will have some cool cards for my gallery. (My husband insisted I make an extra one that "we" can keep!)

06-01-2011, 11:18 AM

Hee, hee. I've done that. If the fam gets attached to a card I start over on the swap card. I have to stop showing them.:skeptical:

06-01-2011, 01:20 PM
I think that I'm kind of lucky in that way. I have only 1 of my cards and that was a booboo. But at least I can say I'm starting to get a card from every artist. My hubby looks at them and goes thats nice. Or it's very nice. I really knows he likes it when he says wow someone will want that one. He's really very lovable. I don't read music or play drums so I shouldn't expect him to have an art opinion.

06-01-2011, 01:20 PM
By the way KD I love the verse at the bottom of your post.

06-01-2011, 05:29 PM
Thanks Jennie- My wonderful son put that up for me. I'm sooo computer challenged. Sons are great. Love that verse too!

06-04-2011, 07:56 PM
Sent the company off to Volcanoes Natl Park and we did some errands. Received cards from Deedles (thanks for the host card), Deann Mc (thanks for the hsot card) and Angelsomething from Ontario. PM or respond here and I'll get your user name right on the player list.
My granddaughters are 5 and 3. usually they play well together....always some involved story and all is sweet. then after dinner, they go crazy and scream and yell for a couple of hours. I got grumpy last night. Tonight I'm having wine! Tomorrow they go home and all of us will miss them.
First night they were terrified of the dog. Now the three yr old is so sad that she is going home. she told her mom that she will miss Pepper(the dog) and her friends (Gran and Opa.)

06-04-2011, 09:12 PM
Isn't family wonderful? I'm old enough for grandchildren but my daughter who is 26 isn't ready. I guess I started too late having kids myself. 3 and 5 are so cute together. My girls are 3 years apart.

06-06-2011, 11:13 AM
@kentuckydakota -I understand that, totally. Still, I want my husband to support my mania, so I have to include him. :)

06-07-2011, 08:24 PM
Cards came from both Tiffany186 and ScrapPea. thank you both for your host cards.
ScrapPea, don't apologize for sending the self-seal envelopes! Those are the best kind to have here. Regular envelopes close and then they are unuseable. The wonderful flap on the kind of envelopes that you have been sending prevent that from happening.

06-08-2011, 12:11 PM
No post office today. This day is for gardening.....well, pruning. I didn't prune anything while company was here. And art! I'm setting up for printing with objects. Yesterday I i made my own rollers, and blocks with glued on stuff(buttons, paper clips) and today I'll try them out.
Hoping to host either an ATC or bookmark swap with object printing.

Someone is going to the post office tomorrow and Friday. Then I'll swap out and cards will go out Monday.

06-08-2011, 03:12 PM
Wow that all sounds really creative! Wish I had the time to let the muse run wild like that.

06-08-2011, 04:12 PM
REtirement is grand. You have to do whatever you can while your body still works.
My mother is still active and she's 88! But her husband is 95 and she's the main driver, cook, etc.

06-10-2011, 01:08 AM
My cards arrived! *deep sigh of relief*
I'll be sure that I save ALL my self-seal envelopes for your swaps, m'dear. My husband prefers them anyway. Still, MY box of lick'em envelopes came with 10 more than his. Hah! :) Here are my cards, and nope, you cannot know what the surprise is yet!

06-10-2011, 11:03 AM
Going to another part of the island today and on the way home, will stop at the post office. Hoping to swap these out tomorrow and mail them either Sunday or Monday.

06-10-2011, 10:24 PM
Momoruth, your cards arrived today....lucky youall cards will be swapped out this weekend.

06-10-2011, 10:25 PM
Momoruth. thanks for the host card.

06-11-2011, 12:00 PM
ScrapPea those are awesome!

06-11-2011, 01:13 PM
Oaky the cards are swapped out. some will be mailed tomorrow and the rest on a day we go into town.
I think round 3 will have only flat surprises. This round there were some bumpy surprises and I did repackage some into bubble envelopes.

06-12-2011, 10:08 PM
yay they made it on time...I figured they would get there on the 10th but I had my fingers and toes crossed...lol

06-12-2011, 10:10 PM
Momoruth. thanks for the host card.

which card did you end up keeping?

06-13-2011, 05:51 PM
the rest of the cards went out this morning...these were the ones for which someone needed to stand in line...and I was fortunate not to be that person.

06-13-2011, 07:43 PM
I just gave out my iTraders.
When you go to give rep points(you rock), three players have not talked on this thread. they are shellyrosebud, lilthamel, and TIFFANY186. I was able to give them iTraders by going to the member list. However, I don't know how to give them rep points . If you really want to follow through with rep points, ask a moderator.

06-13-2011, 07:46 PM
The NO SIGN UP swap was interesting. I missed getting excited about who was signing up. I missed being able to send out a PM 2 weeks before the cards were due. I missed having everyone say something on the swap thread.
It was pleasant to not worry about a wait list and withdrawals. I will continue to join Nosign Up swaps, but don't know if I will host another.

06-13-2011, 09:21 PM
They are pleasant in a way for the player since it takes the pressure off if you get over committed, but there is a camaraderie that happens when everyone signs on for the adventure together. I can see the pros and cons of both kinds.
Anyway, I'm excited about the returns.

06-13-2011, 10:20 PM
@Mrs.Alderman - Thank you!

@NancyL - Interesting. I never thought of the "downside" of a no-signup swap. I didn't think there was one. I'm glad you experienced that and shared your thoughts. Appreciate that. Ditto the pros and cons, kentuckydakota.

06-15-2011, 07:57 PM
I got my wonderfuol cards today. First a huge thank you to our host NancyL. This was so fun.
I'd also like to thank Mrs.Alderman and the darling oragami fishie, ArtistPoetGirl, anf the wonderful Message in a bottle, And last but not least KentuckyDakota and chocolate truffles. Teresa can't wait to make truffles. I love chocolate.

06-16-2011, 08:42 AM

06-17-2011, 03:20 AM

06-17-2011, 01:59 PM
Received my cards! Thank you to NancyL for another fun swap. Thanks also to my swap buddies: Pami, DeannMc, and Cathy1. Cool cards, fun surprises, and great workmanship. :jiggy:

06-17-2011, 03:55 PM
Hey you guys. Sorry I never posted anything in the thread. I just got a PM from PAMI that she got one of my ATCs. Let me know if you got one of my cards. Have a sunny daY!

06-17-2011, 06:26 PM
I wish we had some sunny days! We are having rain at night (usual for this time fo year) and lots of periods of day rain,(not usual.) It does give a good excuse for staying in and doing art!

06-18-2011, 11:23 AM
Nancy send your rain our way... we're drying up here in Texas!

06-18-2011, 12:30 PM
I wish!

06-22-2011, 10:16 PM
wow wow wow! Fantastic returns from Lilthamel, cecileb and CherylS.

Thank you to our lovely hostess for a wonderful theme!
