06-10-2011, 04:44 PM
Thanks for being the first person to sign up for my first swap. We have over one hundred different editions of Stephen King books on our shelves here at home. Thanks again PAMI for signing up. I can't wait to see your ATCs.

06-10-2011, 05:17 PM
cool idea! i loved pet cemetery!
lurking for now! let me see what i can come up with!

06-10-2011, 05:27 PM
Oh lordy, I am a HUGE Stephen King fan. I got to see him read in person when he was touring the US on his motorcycle (before the accident). He is just as cool and creepy in person as are his books.

Now, hmmm, Christine? Oooo Dumas Key! Black Tower??? To choose, to choose!

(Oddy did you get that weed whacking done? heh heh)

06-10-2011, 07:59 PM
Welcome oddbreed, debs913, and papersaga. I'm so glad you all signed up for my first ATC swap! That's awesome debs913 you got to see Stephen King in person a few years back. That is pretty amazing.

06-11-2011, 05:32 PM
Count me in. I love Stephen King. He's a huge Red Sox fan so he hangs out around the fenway in Boston where I work. A husband of one of my patients when out for a walk and ran into him on the street. We looked out the window but he was gone.

06-11-2011, 06:11 PM
I'm thinking the Shining calls to me. All work and no play makes deb a dull girl

06-11-2011, 07:17 PM
oooh this is a good one, I am in!

06-11-2011, 11:32 PM
CherylS--That would be crazy to see Stephen King on the street out the window. Have you ever seen pics of his home in Maine. Incredible! I would love to have his home.

06-11-2011, 11:32 PM
rockinrobin--welcome, welcome. Have any ideas for your Stephen King ATCs yet>?

06-12-2011, 08:23 AM
Darn it! I am over my swap limit now. If I catch up before you fill your spots I will be back. Maximum Overdrive was filmed in Wilmington, NC about an hour from my home. The oil tanker trucks and the truck stop (Dixie Boy) in the movie was owned by the oil company I worked for at the time. I have memorabilia packed up some where, if only I knew where!

06-12-2011, 11:44 AM
Wow! That is so cool callalily!

Another brush with Stephen King...his wife, author Tabitha King purchased a pair of vintage Miriam Haskell earrings from my many years ago. I thought about saving the check...but needed the money.

06-12-2011, 01:18 PM
Callilly-- just pm me if you decide to sign up and there is a slot available. If its full I could put you on a waiting list. I don't think this themed swap will come up very often in the future though. :D

06-12-2011, 04:22 PM
One of my favorite authors ..... have to join.! ;)

06-12-2011, 06:27 PM
Welcome SunTrade. I've added you to the list. Can't wait to see your cards since I looked at your blog. I really liked your Harry Potter ATCs. I just mailed 6 Harry Potter ATCs for the swap that is going on now!

06-13-2011, 03:21 AM
Oh, I want to play! Please sign me up!

06-13-2011, 02:02 PM
Phrixy--added you to the list. This is going to be a sweet swap! :jiggy:

06-13-2011, 02:13 PM
I am a fan of Stephen King (or just about any author, but I'm biased) but I don't like a lot of gore just reading some of his work makes me cringe. let me think about this one good and see if I can get around the gore factor before I commit to it.

06-13-2011, 04:58 PM
I simply cannot resist these "odd" challenges. And, we just watched one of his non-gory movies last night, "The Diary of Ellen Rimbauer". Sign me up!
(toddles off to find a pic of a cherry red & white '57 Chevy...)

06-13-2011, 05:13 PM
I know this is an "odd' and unique challenge but there are so many things from the Stephen King realm you could make ATCs about, right? There are probably hundred of characters, animals, settings, buildings, objects, etc you could include on your cards. I'm super excited to see everyone's cards. PM for address when ready!:D

06-13-2011, 09:24 PM
Absolutely! I've never thought of King as being particularly gory. Suspenseful, scary, creepy, but not terribly gory.

06-14-2011, 12:36 PM
Oh, then you haven't seen his old werewolf movie, Silver Bullet. I seriously left the theater 15 minutes in. That one was horrific. Most of his aren't anywhere near that, thank heavens. "It" was my favorite.

06-14-2011, 02:49 PM
Rose Red, The Shining, Cujo, The Green Mile, and Thinner are some of my favorite Stephen King films. Has anyone seen any of the Creep Show short films>?

06-14-2011, 09:12 PM
Film favorites: Carrie, The Stand, Stand by Me, Needful Things, The Shining
Book favorites: The Stand, Salem's Lot, Duma Key, The Bachman Books, On Writing: A Memoir of the Craft

06-15-2011, 12:24 AM
debs913- Did you ever see the tv version of The Shining they made a few years back. It was really good and the guy playing the main character was cute.:jiggy:

06-15-2011, 10:09 AM
Haven't seen it...will have to check Netflix! I did see "Kingdom Hospital". Now that was one weird, not very good show....

06-15-2011, 10:31 AM
Kingdom Hospital had potential, but wasn't on long enough to really develop it. I like Creepshow. I can't think of his name... Stephen something? Yeah, the latest remake of the Shining was much closer to the book. It was the guy who played one of the brothers on the comedy "Wings". The cute one. :) Oh, they should remake Christine. The possibilities with cars and their computer chips and such these days? Super-creepy.

06-15-2011, 10:51 AM
I'm hoping they will make a movie of Duma Key which I think is one of his best books ever, certainly the best since his injury.

I wish they would remake Salem's Lot. With Twilight and Buffy, I think we need to get back to vampires that were really scary, gruesome, and horrid!

06-15-2011, 01:06 PM
They did remake it. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0355987/
It was still pathetic.

06-15-2011, 01:48 PM
Love this theme - lurking for now :)

06-15-2011, 06:44 PM
I'm an art teacher at a middle school and I saw a few different 8th graders reading Duma Key this year. I haven't read it though. I think a modernized remake of Christine would be great. Some films just dont need a remake like MISERY, and Cujo, because they were done so well. I did recently see a new new version of Carrie that was changed a lot at the end of the story. The girl was not Sissy Spacek but was really a great actress for the modern verson of Carrie.

06-16-2011, 10:17 AM
Welcome sgirl58. I just added you to the list.
Has anyone seen the movie Rose Red? I started watching it last night but I didn't finish because it is about a 4 hour movie. That would be awesome if there was really a huge mansion like that in Seattle. Great movie!

06-18-2011, 12:37 PM
OK, here's what's winging its way to you!

06-18-2011, 02:27 PM
Please add me to the list if it is not too late. been reading the King for many many years. Oooooo Salems Lot. I could hear them scratching on the windows when I was reading it.

06-18-2011, 02:36 PM
Clowns make me hyperventilate....muhahahaha! Good one :)

06-18-2011, 10:47 PM
Welcome rogalaca! I added you to the list. I only have one spot left. I wonder who it will be!

06-18-2011, 10:48 PM
SeattleMeg- I love your evil card. Great work!

06-21-2011, 12:53 AM
Here are mine. I hope you all like them. I got inspired by Stephen King the stand series.

I feel kind I have done something wrong, because yesterday I made cards for the illustrated Bible passages, and today I do Stephen King. That is wrong!

06-24-2011, 04:23 PM
SunTrade-- Your ATCs are so awesome. It looks like you even made an extra for me---the host. Awesome!!!!

06-26-2011, 01:29 AM
All slots are full....ALRIGHT!

06-26-2011, 10:40 PM

06-27-2011, 03:58 AM

06-27-2011, 12:42 PM

07-03-2011, 10:22 AM
Mine are done and mailed out on Tuesday. They are in my gallery. I have trouble getting them to show up here. I did the Langoliers.

07-03-2011, 10:45 AM
I checked out your Langoliers Atcs in your gallery. I really like your style of painting. It reminds me of children books from the fifties when they wouldn't coimpletely color the images in the book. Very cool cards. I can't wait to see them in person!

07-03-2011, 11:33 AM
thanks for the comps. I appreciate it.

07-17-2011, 10:10 AM
I love anything Stephen King does, my favorite film has to be The Stand. have to confess I don't watch too many fims as I think they can never top reading the actual books - and I love all the books. I was dedicated to the dark Tower and waited for years to get to the end - what an epic, my all time fav.

07-20-2011, 07:54 PM

I'm glad everyone is getting their cards. Sorry I haven't posted. I am a middle school Art Teacher and we just went back this past week. I'm beat. Last year my 7th graders made atcs and we traded with another middle school.
