View Full Version : NJ Gathering August 2011

07-12-2011, 02:07 PM
I'm planning a central NJ gathering on Friday, August 19. Location will be at my house - Skillman, NJ. (Please PM me for the address.) We'll plan to start 10 am in the morning and go until late afternoon/early evening. Please bring your supplies - we'll be sitting down to craft together. If you have a technique you'd like to share that would be fantastic. We'll break for a pot-luck lunch. (I'll have fixins for Chicken Ceasar Salad and Christina is bringing dessert.) Also we'll get to do some live trading - YIPPEE!!!! Anyone willing to make the drive to central Jersey is invited - you don't have to live in NJ to attend! Please Please post to this thread if you plan to attend so I know how to plan for food and space to craft.;) Here are the main things to remember:

1. Bring your supplies to craft

2. If you can bring a food item or bag of chips or bottle of soda/juice/tea (no alcohol please since everyone has to drive home and I'm allergic)

3. Bring ATCs or other art or supplies to trade

4. See you on Friday, August 19th!

I would love to join you. What a great idea. Thanks so much for the invite Kristen. I think it could take me about 1 1/2 TO 2 hours to get to you. I could make homemade coleslaw and something else. I can't wait to meet you and hopefully the rest of the gang.

I will have supplies ready for anyone interested in learning how to create the folded pocket ATCs that I make. (These can be made in any size actually.) You do not need to bring anything but if you have a BONEFOLDER please bring it. The folded edges will be sharper on your finished project. Here is a sample of one that I made in the past:

Sharlene54 is going to demonstrate how to use alcohol inks on foil. There is an example of it in her gallery on page 12 called "Proud Moment".

It looks like we are all going to get some great ideas for new cards! :)

Getting ready for Friday. A reminder that I'll be serving grilled chicken cesar salad on Friday. It will be set out salad bar style so we can all make our own.

Little more than 2 days and counting!

Here is a sample of art from our meeting:

jj9jj showed us this neat technique for collage!

Sharlene54 demonstrated alcohol inks on foil - so much fun! To the side of my foil sample is the wax paper that was underneath to protect the table. Pretty cool that it picked up a design also.

For those who could stay later we gave Bernie Berlin's Lumiere Towel technique a try.

Oooh fun! I love the pocket folded ATC holder, as well as the other projects you played with at your gathering! (And I think the waxed paper looks as pretty as the foil!)

Wish I lived close enough to attend this event!
