Everyone's art is turning out so amazing. I'm so looking forward to seeing mine when it finally returns.:notworthy:
Well, Els Moley went off to Rubyyot today. I thought I should mention that there looked to be a miscalculation on the the page count somewhere. It was going to be one short for the last artist (Rubyyot) Maybe he could add in an extra page so he has four.

Els
03-21-2012, 02:26 AM
Yah, that's my screw up. Another page added would be lovely, but only if you feel like it, Jamal.

O-KAY...I JUST completed Kat's moley...since it skipped Jamal, where shall I send it, Annette?

ArtsyLady

Just so you all know, I am leaving town on Sunday to go and visit themuppet with Cindyjob (yay!), so I won't be able to post right away when the moley lands. I'll post on Friday when I'm home again, home again, jiggity jig.

Artslady's moley is complete. I added a picture of my oldest and youngest grandchildren playing with Wii Just Dance. The little guy is our miracle baby (now age 4 years). He likes to select the donut as his symbol. His older sister selected the perfume bottle.

kat
03-25-2012, 11:48 AM
Artslady -- I'm glad you like it. drawing people is not my forte, but I my sister is always encouraging me to draw from life. The initial sketch was created during a four-hour babysitting period which also included Wii tennis, bowling, and baseball; assembling a floor puzzle of the world; four rounds of hiding & finding 20 small toys; playing with the cats; watching the out-takes of Wallace & Gromit; practicing writing; hopping on one foot; watching "Disco Worms", the movie; and eating lunch. I should have titled the finished product: Just Pooped!

I received Ann's book yesterday. I tell you, every single book has been amazing to see. Vincent's been at my shoulder with every one of them, and is very impressed with the quality of work. He finds the idea of the whole rotation quite amazing, and you know, it really is. I think we all got very lucky with this group of artists...wonderful work, all.

Renu, have you rec'vd Dada's yet?

Yes, I got her book on Saturday. Sorry, haven't been online much. My allergies have really smacked me this spring. I usually get them later in the year, but with the warm winter, all the trees are out with pollen already. It went from a few coughs to full blown bronchitis in less than a week. I've been taking my cough syrup with codiene and drinking lots and lots of hot water drinks and resting. that
codiene stuff sure puts you to sleep!

Thank you. I tried to do one of those tessalations and make an original one, but I just couldn't get all four corners to match up. I finally figured out my problem. I'm mathematically challenged! lol So I changed tracks and went with his morphing idea. I picked up the idea of the ribbon from the last layout and worked that into stylized waves into a can can dancers skirt into koi fish. I really loved doing this one.

04-17-2012, 05:26 PM
Isn't it interesting that what seemed a horrible tragedy has made the little moley more dear? It's a world traveler! It's gone to places I'll never be able to go myself :).

Meanwhile, I started the WC moley with the theme "Lost", but I have since decided to make the theme "Lost and Found". I'll be taking it to Portland. Because entries can be as small as one page, it won't present the big commitment larger journal do. That should make it easier to complete in a single, crazy weekend. I hope some of you will be there. It's going to be my 4th AFA!!

Also, you may be interested in the fact that my husband & I have started a WC moley exchange with our son & his two boys. Hopefully, the correspondence will build a bond among us across the miles.

Els
04-18-2012, 11:22 PM
My newest Moley is about to start, too, Kat. I HAD planned to make the theme the Fibonacci Sequence/Golden Mean, and WILL be using that in the future, but I believe I've settled on Personal Geographies for this one. I have a huge list of moley themes I want to try, and will given time.

But all that has NOTHING to do with why I signed on tonight. MY moley arrived in the mailbox today from Jamal! And it is nothing less than a MARVEL! The styles are all over the place, but woven into a cohesive blend of One. Thank you ALL so very much for the work you did and for the grand camaraderie along the way!

Oh, and if anyone's interested, I *think* there's still some space in the new moley rotation previously mentioned, but check with Kristinized if you're interested in joining us.

Jewels
04-19-2012, 12:45 AM

Jewels -- that's lovely!

All -- The postman had a package for my husband today, so he knocked & rang. Thus, I was able to catch him just in time. I told him that I had something I wanted to show him, and I brought out the moley. "I want you to see something that you delivered last week," I said. He was totally astounded & flummoxed! After I explained the process, he said that the most amazing part was how seamlessly the artists continued the work of the previous artist. I bet he spent the better part of the day thinking about his share in this incredible exchange. Thanks again to each of you.

04-25-2012, 05:53 PM

kat
04-25-2012, 06:54 PM
My DH says, "Don't flag your mistakes!" It runs against my nature, but I've learned to bite my tongue. Most people recognize not only the art we create but the larger vision behind it. Although it may fall short of our ultimate goals, it's a lot! We should all rejoice in this exciting, successful exchange. We created synergy. I know I created some art that would have never been without the input from the others in this group. I suspect you all (y'all) feel the same.

Jewels
04-25-2012, 06:55 PM
I know I've had a blast with this project. Tried a bunch of things I wouldn't have otherwise.

AnnD
04-25-2012, 10:04 PM
Okay, I have to ask. Now that we're (almost) finished, what's the longest time you spent on any one person's spread? You don't have to say whose. My answer is downright horrifying. LOL.

Els
04-25-2012, 10:52 PM
The problem with answering that, Ann, is that a good part of my work is just noodling for weeks. I started thinking about yours, for example, back when the themes were first announced. That's how you ended up with the triptych piece long before I even saw your moley. So perhaps yours is the longest time spent, but not necessarily the longest time drawing/painting. I know you struggled with my dragons (FB post gave you away), but ya did GOOD.

kat
04-26-2012, 06:56 AM
My sister is an art teacher. One demonstration she does is a 30-second gesture drawing. One student complained about how quickly my sister captured the gesture. She replied, "Yes, it only took 30 seconds and 50 years."

Boy Escher is kicking my butt!! I finished a little over half of it last night hopefully I can get the rest finished tonight/tomorrow.....I will keep you posted. I I have to say again, EVERYONE before me has done and absolutely OUTSTANDING job.

Els
04-27-2012, 05:50 PM
Exactly right, Kat.

Oooo..Escher as your last one. That's tough. I was glad to get Escher and Persian art out of the way at the front end. Though I really though tea parties was going to kick my butt, it turned out Kat's dinosaur spread was the hardest one for me. Escher just required TIME...

How does one get into another Moley round anyways?

burningthirteen
04-29-2012, 11:46 PM
As for which spread took the longest. I would have to say that it was the M.C. Escher spread because I had to do it in a style that was not my own and did a number of practice sketches to figure out how to make the optical illusion work.

AnnD
04-30-2012, 12:25 AM
You did an awesome job with it, though. I'd say your hard work paid off!

Know whose spread I spent the longest on, burningthirteen? YOURS!

DADAology
05-01-2012, 03:04 PM
I'm still working on the Escher....hopefully be finished in a couple of days. I think it has been my hardest too....but I will repeat again the book is just awesome....everyone before me did the most fantastic work....

Jewels
05-01-2012, 03:33 PM
Oooo... can't wait to see it.

I think it was a toss up for me between Rubyyot's and AnnD's. Mostly because it took a while to work out exactly what I wanted to do and then do it.

kat
05-01-2012, 05:32 PM
Anytime a theme required a human figure, it was harder for me. Therefore, odd little girls, the tea party, & children at play were the hardest. My Persian spread had some human figures, too, but one was a statue and the others were small. Pushing my limits was one of the best parts of this exchange.

DADAology
05-07-2012, 12:28 AM
I can't believe I'm still struggling with Echer!! I did one section over, I worked on it a while tonight and almost have it sketched, I will start coloring tomorrow. I'm getting there.

I'm not sure why but this one was the most difficult for me..had planed on following the themes set before my spread...The English dept..the Psychology dept...I was going to have the pre-K dept...with letter T's in cups..what I ended up with was just sort of hodge podge...

Will be ready to mail before the weekend...thanks for your patience Renu

OMG, that middle teapot is ADORABLE! Great spread, AL - love how colorful it all is!

I have one of my theories (I am rife with the suckers) about why the last spread is taking so much longer for so many of us. And no, it's not a longing to continue playing with this group, though it's related. Rather I think it has to do with that old devil, Completion. I have a bit of difficulty actually finishing the longer projects - which is part of why I was drawn to ATCs in the first place - and this was no different. I'll know if I'm onto something when the end of the next Moley rotation happens in a couple of months!

I took my molie to PSY150. They were amazed (& hopefully inspired). You can see that they listened well about not touching the art. :cute:

Kat that is so cool....great picture, great example of showing how art is much more than just something to look at, it is theraputic, instructional, form of record/documentation, expression and much more.

Three cheers for the Best Hostess. We should do this again sometime.

We will have to do it again sometime. It was easy because everyone was understanding that life happens to all of us. Deadlines are great and a haveto have sometime but being a little flexable is a good thing. Thanks to each of you too.

I'm not going to officially close this until all have returned home.

We are giving iTraders for this swap, right? I have only seen one, possibly two. I think I gave one to everybody.

Yes give iTraders. I believe there are 3 more books still out. Mine is but I know where it is. I believe Els and Midnites are still with their last artists too. We need to get these home guys, thanks.

And everyone don't forget to leave iTraders for each artist in your book. Thanks.

Oh dear. Were we supposed to? I'll go do it now. Doesn't seem like enough though... Where's the button for 10 points when you need it?

AnnD
06-04-2012, 07:08 PM
I know what you mean. It feels like a moley swap should be worth at least as many points as there are members! (Which in the end, I guess it is. But you know what I mean. :))

kat

I think I gave both iTrader & rep pts. Let me know if you did not receive either. I personally enjoy the rep pts more than iTrader because I have sufficient of the latter.

WOW. You really do have a lot of iTraders, kat!

I usually give both in a moley swap and sometime in a regular swap.

DADA -- Thanks again. You did a wonderful job keeping us all on track, even if some moleys decided to take a side trip to the South Pacific. Els & I showed off our final products at AFA Portland. Many there didn't even know what a moley was. All were amazed! Like you, I appreciate the care the artists took to make it a cohesive work of art. Let me know if you up for #3 :).
