You can stick stamps on, I often get letters with a row of stamps on them!

Lil, if it's like here there's website that tells what things cost when you enter the weight and destination.

Here is the site that I use for calculating postage (http://postcalc.usps.gov/Default.aspx?m=1&p=0&o=3&dz=76058&oz=98226&pob=0&MailingDate=10/17/2011&MailingTime=8:00%20AM).
It works for letter sized envies that aren't too heavy. Anything that is in a padded envie, though, usually requires a customs form and I go to the PO window for that. I haven't tried customs forms online.

Just letting everyone that I traded with know that their envies went postal today. Thanks again for a wonderful PSAT. :D

I'll mail my envelopes in the evening or tomorrow morning depending on when I have time to pack them. And then I can start the preparations for the CBAT :).

Most internationals go with a $0.98 stamp for the first ounce. So I bought some of those to keep on hand - (and they are "pretty" as well!).

As discussed many times earlier, I (and most of the people in Europe) got about 80-90% of trades from the US and I get mostly that $0.98 stamp. I don't say it's not pretty, but if I get about 200 pieces of that stamp every year, it's not very useful after that...

O.K....so I'll look for smaller cost stamps and put a bunch on them!:D
Sorry sniisk.....you got that typical $0.98 stamp this time!

Sue, that's absolutely OK. Not a problem at all. I love also those stamps :). But as I said, it's also nice that some players use others stamps :).

I'm going to buy a whole bunch of stamps as soon as I'm near another post office, as miss csn doesn't like using them. :skeptical: probably because she has to use her one brain cell!

My swops will all be out by next week, I'm a bit low on cash till payday.

I, too, didn't use one of those US$.98 stamps this time. I got some newer $.44 and put two of those one and a $.10. Much more fun for my wonderful postal agents (who are all AMAZING!!!)

Also, just a thought....I'm going to be ordering my stamps from the USPS. You can order them online and the postage HAS to be less than gas to the PO these days! AND you can take your time and order some pretty ones. And, like this time, some of the stamps I wanted - they were out of. BUT if I had ordered them online I could have gotten them. Worth checking out anyway.

I bought some new stamps on Friday :), because I used almost all my stamps when I mailed my envelopes in the evening.

And today I have been prepapring some backgrounds for the chunky book pages. And making some more APCs. It's been very busy art day here but so relaxing.

Just playing around at USPS site on ordering stamps. You can get a good number of stamps for only $1 s/h!! Here in MN that is the cost of just a bit more than 1/4 of a gallon of gas. Depending on your vehicle the s/h costs for ordering online is well worth it.

Not to mention the hassle of the lines and short tempers for the next 1 1/2 months.

HHC

minnkel, I haven't ordered any online yet, but will have to try it.

sniisk

We have that online service too. Really worth to use. No time spent just waiting in a post office and then I can choose what ever I want.

I wish I would have thought of putting different stamps on my four over-seas envies....just the usual 98 center! Next time!

minnkel

Don't know what the situation is elsewhere but our PO guys are concerned about the gov closing the PO in Rogers. Then the online service will make even MORE sense.

I know my plain black rural mailbox sure has a sparkle to his flag these last days...
have received most of my trades and seeing most of my cards are at their new homes...
went to p.office today and bought new/more stamps and was sure to pick up some of them 10 cent ones so I really will try hard to mail over-sea without that silly one and only 98 cent stamp...
at least this way, with me putting on my 3 stamps and then, if they over weight I can just buy the added postage and this OL' post lady won't beable to throw the meter thing on my envelope...I hate (HATE) that meter machine of her's...

There was a huge pile of cards waiting for me tonight when I got home after being away for work for most of the week. Thank you all for the fantastic swaps. There are still a few to filter down to me and vice versa and I still have to make one set for Sanna but she knows these will be on their way on Monday. I have done itraders for the cards received so far.

Great athon title. Hope we do it again at another time.

Some tips for everyone:

1. When making APCs (as some of us are somethimes making) be careful can use correct size playing cards.

2. When useing clue and not useing double side tape, be sure your items will stay together. I have now (after this a-thon) received two cards in several pieces. It's not nice to start put puzzle pieces together :(.

That's a good reminder Sniisk - I keep forgetting that the shiny surface resists some adhesives.

Oh no...if my cards are coming apart, I need to know!!

Just Ducky
11-25-2011, 04:10 PM
Lilbad... I think that Sniisk was talking about APC ... and they are abit harder to get things to stick to their shiny surface. but yes, sometimes things just go wrong at times in getting stuff to glue down and STAY down... once in awhile I will receive a card that maybe one thing needs a bit of help and I can take care of it with no problem... but if it's more things or seems to happen to one gals cards more then once, I would send a friendly pm and just ask her to check what she is using... ( I haven't had to do this ) so don't worry gal...

ibus- do you shorten your Elizabeth? I have an Aunt whose proper name is Elizabeth but she is called Dibby (no idea why?!?)

Ibus
11-30-2011, 02:52 PM
I've been Elizabeth all my life, until I got online in 2001. I got fed up with typing it and shortened it to Liza, as I hate Liz. I then met SR, so he and the STs call me Liza, but officialdom still calls me Elizabeth. As the STs are so horrendous, Liza's lost it's charm and so online, I'm Elizabeth again.

Ibus
11-30-2011, 02:55 PM
Your aunt's name might come from not being able to say Libby right, hence Dibby! I was called Elizabeth Ann (till I was ten and objected) and as a toddler called myself Fam, because I couldn't say it right. Ibus comes from my niece, as that was her way of saying Elizabeth as a toddler.
