Same Actor, Three Movies

This swap idea came to me in a dream, so I figured it had to happen.

It's a simple idea but a lot of fun. For this swap, choose an actor (either male or female) you'd like to draw, then draw them from three different movies.

For example:
I want to draw Gary Oldman. So I draw:
-Sirius from Harry Potter
-Zorg from the Fifth Element
-Drexl Spivey from True Romance (awesome movie.)

Johnny Depp:
-Captain Jack Sparrow from Pirates of the Carribean
-Edward from Edward Scissor Hands
-Ichabod Crane from Sleepy Hollow

See what fun it is? If you need help choosing from films, www.imdb.com is a great resource for filmographies. You can choose to draw a scene from the movie, or just a portrait of the character. Want a real challenge? Do a doubles team! Two actors and three movies they have in common. Movies can be any genre, any country, any rating.

Swappy details/rules:

--Cards must be hand drawn or painted only, standard ATC format 2.5x3.5" and sent in plastic sleeves. Don't forget your username and information on the back of cards so people can leave rep points!

--Notate on the back of the card what actor and movie you chose

--Each card must have a unique image.

--Send in your best work!

--Include an SASE with at least .45 postage. For those outside the US, please include postage or a us dollar if you can, if not, I'll cover return postage. Outside US, include an envelope with a return address.

--Clearly mark your username and number of cards you sent in on the back of your RETURN envelope.

--When you're ready to send in cards, PM me for my address. When you get your returns, please leave iTrader for me and rep points for those whose cards you receive!

How can I say no to one of your swaps? Please sign me up. :D

02-15-2012, 04:24 PM
Yay, Michael! Glad to have you playing!!

02-15-2012, 04:30 PM
I love your swaps so much I have to be in every one I can. :wubclub: Oh, and you just hit 1,500 posts. A milestone. :jiggy:

02-15-2012, 04:32 PM
Gasp! I did! And it was welcoming you to the swap! Double awesome!!

02-15-2012, 04:38 PM
can I join please :D

02-15-2012, 04:50 PM
Of course! Welcome aboard, pixie. :)

02-15-2012, 06:29 PM
Oh I love this idea! Sign me up please!

Now to decide if I want to draw Geoffrey Rush or Liam Neeson XD

02-15-2012, 06:45 PM
Ooh good choices kheelan! Yep this mulling business may very well send me over the edge lol
I might go with elijah wood then I can make prints for my sister hehe

02-15-2012, 06:50 PM
Are voice over work out like cartoon movies? Just want to make sure...

02-15-2012, 07:50 PM
Awesome! Great to have you aboard, Kheelan! I love Liam.

Pixie, for this swap it's live action work only. That way we can see the person in each role. :) A voiceover swap might be fun though...

02-15-2012, 07:53 PM
I think I am going to do Patrick Swayze in Ghost, North and South, and Dirty Dancing. I might change my mind though. Still thinking.

02-15-2012, 08:10 PM
May I join?

02-15-2012, 08:27 PM
I love this idea! What I'd give to be able to draw Alan Rickman! Yummy! :) I'll have to lurk and hope people post their cards so I can swoon over them.

02-15-2012, 08:44 PM
Oh, hells yes! Count me in!

02-15-2012, 09:57 PM
I know, Michael. I can't quite decide either. IF we get enough people I may make this open to 6/6 as well. And then people could do all six the same actor (wow), or choose two different actors.

Debby!! Glad to have you in the swap. :D

And of course my lovely Siren, too.

02-15-2012, 09:59 PM
Lilac, great to have a lurker! I'm pretty excited to see what people come up with, myself. :D

As another note, don't feel the need to make these realistic portraits! Stylized drawings are a-ok.

02-15-2012, 11:08 PM
I thought it was just live action so thought it was best to check so thank you for clearing it up.
The hard part is figuring which films, I don't want to do similar looking characters if you know what I mean...
Ooh I just thought keanu reeves! I'll forgive teeny for waking me up in the middle of the night for that brainwave :D
Now which films....bill n ted, freakd, johnny nmeumonic...ooh maybe... Hehe if sequels counted I couldve put alex winter in too hehe or I could just do him...oh dear think I need to sleep on this a little more lol

02-16-2012, 12:15 AM
This sounds so fun! Please add me. Now the trouble of picking which actor...hmmm.

02-16-2012, 12:17 AM
Please sign me up! :)

02-16-2012, 12:23 AM
Laurie, you might want to change your postage. It's gone up a penny.

02-16-2012, 01:10 AM
 It did? Where have I been? Thanks, Deb.

02-16-2012, 01:11 AM
And welcome aboard to renren and KD. :D

02-16-2012, 02:01 AM
Sounds challenging ... please include me.

02-16-2012, 04:25 AM
Of course, ceejay!

There are so many great actors to choose from! I'm having trouble narrowing it down, too. Though I do love Gary....but there's also Helen Miren, Colin Firth, Bruce Willis, Katherine Hepburn....gah!

02-16-2012, 05:12 AM
This is such an awesome idea, I'd love to play... but I need to try and draw something before I join, to see if I'd be able to. :D
So lurking for now!

02-16-2012, 07:08 AM
Well ... I guess you just answered my unasked question. I was about to ask if we were limited to Actors, or were Actresses included.

02-16-2012, 07:11 AM
Hehe I've just been writing a list on the bus and I'm up to 10 lol oops :D

02-16-2012, 11:09 AM
Oh goodness, I can't RESIST :D

Terri F
02-16-2012, 02:26 PM
This does sound fun. I think I will do Jim Carrey. The Mask, Ace Ventura, Grinch (if thats ok) or Gene Wilder

02-16-2012, 02:45 PM
Oh, Gene Wilder would be fun too. Good idea.

Terri F
02-16-2012, 04:34 PM
I'm going with Gene. He's done some GREAT roles ha ha

02-16-2012, 04:55 PM
Clopina, I'll add you to the audience. :)

And welcome to the show, debs and Shawnicaitlin!

02-16-2012, 05:02 PM
Kheelan--Liam...YUM :D

I might try my hand with Alan Rickman (swoon). Maybe Sean Connery. Or Emma Thompson!!! "Broaden your mind...."

Decisions, decisions....

02-16-2012, 05:02 PM
Question- If the actor you have in mind has played roles where they are completely covered with their costume, should we stay away from that role or is it ok to draw them? In other words, do you have to see their face?

02-16-2012, 07:32 PM
I'd like to try this swap. Methinks Hugh Jackman would be a good candidate for a few ATCs!

02-16-2012, 07:48 PM
I'm a little overbooked atm but will lurk.

02-16-2012, 09:05 PM
This sounds cool! Sign me up please!

02-17-2012, 01:50 AM
Great theme! But I have to lurk for now - have to catch up on other swaps first :D

02-17-2012, 04:00 AM
New people! Sesshanach, SunTrade, and NickyBlade you are added!

Evalila! Good to see you again and glad to have you lurking in the audience. :) You too, ArtDuJunque!

02-17-2012, 04:04 AM
KD, for the purposes of this swap, I'd prefer to have the actors' faces more visible. Although...Hugo Weaving as V in "V for Vendetta" would be pretty wicked....

I guess I'm on the fence about it. Group consensus?

02-17-2012, 07:51 AM
I don't mind if they're in costumes etc, I was toying with keanu reeves as dogboy in freaked you can't really tell its him also elijah wood in sin city where its all black n only see the white glasses or helena bonham carter in planet of the apes etc.
I'm wanting to do 3 pics that don't look like 3 identical portraits :D
Told my sis about this swap and she wants me to make cards for her too so at least hugh jackman and cary elwes are off my potential list if I'm making them for her hehe...

02-17-2012, 09:25 AM
Opinion (mine) ... If the actor/actress has a "face mask" or makeup ... in the movie, they should be as they were in the roll ... ie: Jim Carey in "mask" or as the "grinch" ///

02-17-2012, 09:39 AM
Agreed, costumes and masks rock. Ron Pearlman has masks, heavy make up or a mask in a good 2/3 example of his movies, same with Tim Curry. I may do one or both of those two.... Oh screw it. Sign me up already. The ideas are there now and if I don't do them ill be upset with myself. I'll do Tim Curry as Darkness (Legend), Pennywise (IT), and the high wizard (The Colour of Magic). And if we are doing 6:6 then ill do Ron pearlman as the Beast, Hellboy, and one more.

02-17-2012, 09:54 AM
Ooh tim curry is fab! Love legend its such an awesome film! And ron perlmans done wicked movies too hehe...

02-17-2012, 10:17 AM
I think if ONE of the three is in mask or makeup that is cool...but I think the appeal is being able to recognize the actor in the role.

02-17-2012, 12:25 PM
Well the actor I was thinking of was Warwick Davis, but I can't imagine not doing his Wicket role as that was his break out role, but for the person receiving it, it would be like getting a teddy bear card- maybe not what we're going for here. I'll head back to the drawing board and see what I come up with.

02-17-2012, 01:35 PM
One thing you could do would be to make a portrait of the actor without the mask with a picture of Wicket (or V, or whoever) as an addition to the card. I know this card isn't a perfect example since it is a man and a ship, not a man and a character, but this card from EdensRainbow illustrates my point.

02-17-2012, 02:03 PM
I'd love a wicket card! But I get what you mean, and love that yummy patrick stewart!

02-17-2012, 02:21 PM
It is one of my favorite cards in my collection. :D

02-17-2012, 03:43 PM
Can't resist. I've always wanted to do some Chuck Norris cards. Count me in!

02-17-2012, 04:15 PM
Ok I can't resist, I'm in! Still have to decide between some actors tho. XD

02-17-2012, 05:32 PM
Great idea sasjhwa! Maybe I'll give that a try. That is an awesome card BTW- lucky you!

02-18-2012, 06:03 AM
It seems that we are all agreed! Masks and prosthetics are in! It was really Ron Pearlman that won the vote for me. How could I deny Hellboy anything? As long as it is a role the actor is known for, I don't think it'll cause too much confusion. And one of the best things about swaps like this is that you get to learn about new actors and new roles.

And welcome to all the new people! Adding you to the swap now.

We have enough people that I am opening this up to 6:6, if you'd like. Just make sure to note on your return envelope how many cards you sent in. It helps to keep me from freaking out when I double check everything before sending returns. :cute:

02-18-2012, 06:11 AM
So 6:6 can be 1 actor 6 films or 2 lots of 1 actor 3 films :D

02-18-2012, 06:23 AM
I think I'll try my hand with Orlando Bloom. :D I don't know if I'll be able to draw 6 cards, I guess I'll stick on 3 lol. But I'll start working right now! This will be sooo much fun!

02-18-2012, 08:37 AM
That's my dilema too singbluesilver, I might just sketch out a ton of cards and whoever gets finished first I'll go with hehe

02-18-2012, 03:25 PM
I think ill do both Tim curry and Ron pearlman then. My last for Ron will be his character in the city of lost children and since it sounds like our host is in love with hellboy I think that may be a host card and ill do a 4th of Tim curry as Dr. Frankenfurter. :-D

02-18-2012, 03:27 PM
I'm not very good at drawing people, so I'm probably digging myself into a hole, but I'd love to try this. If someone draws a Goldblum card I might have to squeeze them :jiggy: Lol.

02-19-2012, 05:13 AM
Oh I still don't know have a few cards sketched so I'll know in the next few days :D

02-19-2012, 11:51 PM
You guys are fast!

02-20-2012, 05:44 AM
Oh my word! So many good ideas flowing around here!! ArtDuJunque, I love your brain. Keep going, and before you know it, all your cards will be mine.

And welcome to katrinabean! It's all a good time here. :D

02-20-2012, 05:53 AM
Hehe I've got 4 sets of 3 sketched out and even though I only do limited sketching I can see that elijah woods out of the running, and I've also noticed I keep putting eyes slightly off hmmm

02-20-2012, 06:01 PM
I said to myself I will not do johnny depp, but you know him and helena bonham carter have been in 3 live actions together so I can do both :D

02-22-2012, 04:20 PM
Please let me join up too, it will be a great challenge but lots of fun, thanks Kath.

02-22-2012, 04:49 PM
mine are in my gallery :D

johnny depp and helena bonham carter and keanu reeves

02-22-2012, 04:57 PM
OOPs! I keep having trouble posting this, hope it doesn't repeat itself again?? Anyway, please let me join up for this swap, I think I want to work on those 'Bette Davis Eyes", thanks, Kath.

02-22-2012, 08:45 PM
Yikes! Totally thought I had already posted YES YES YES!!!! I WANNA JOIN I WANNA JOIN!!! :) I promise I do love you, ER :) It wasn't personal that I dropped the ball.

02-23-2012, 01:58 PM
EdensRainbow- Is this swap still open?? I would like to join, thanks- Kath.

02-23-2012, 02:04 PM
Yes its still open kath I think eden may be busy, don't think it will take too long for you both to be added to the list :D

02-23-2012, 03:13 PM
Thanks pixie. (And oh my word, amazing cards! First cards of the swap awarded to you!! :D)

I've come down with a nasty head cold, so I may be a while in responding for the next few days.

Kath, you're added.

And Lisa, I was feeling bad because I kept forgetting to tell you about the swap. So I say we're both free of guilt.

02-23-2012, 03:24 PM
Boo to head cold!!! I've just got over that little beastie! Glad it was nothing super traumatic to keep you away!
And thank you, just need to do a hostie card and they can be on they're way :D

02-23-2012, 07:41 PM

02-24-2012, 12:00 AM
Pixie you are the queen of atcs in my world! I wish I could work so fast. I can not even keep up with the threads!

02-24-2012, 04:32 AM
Awww thanks suntrade! I only get to work on them in the evenings so I have to work fast, and having internet on my phone helps me keep up with the threads.
I have a system one night I'll do a ton of sketches then the next I'll go through and colour, then the noxt add the water and ink, then a session on backing the cards and a mammoth scan and I've got lots to post :D I love my watercolour pencils! :D

02-24-2012, 04:35 AM
We've only got those daft energy saver bulbs, but with 3 kids I can't really work in the day they want to "help" and want to use all my good paper lol

02-24-2012, 04:47 AM
Nickyblade your cards rock!!!! I must admit I had to google him as I wasn't sure who he was but I did, loved him in without a paddle and let's go to prison :D
And actresses are allowed :D

02-24-2012, 05:02 AM
Hehe I couldn't resist calculating how many I've made since I joined on new years eve...124+ no wonder my house is a freaking pigsty lol!

02-24-2012, 06:38 AM
i would love to join your swap

02-24-2012, 04:16 PM
Woah pixie, you really are the ATC queen! I did "only" about 170, and it's been 2 years since I started making them. I am so slow haha!

btw, my cards are all planned out, I'm just practicing my realism before trying my hand with Orlando Bloom lol.

And NickyBlade, amazing cards! I'm speechless for what you guys can do. I wish I had that talent. XD

02-24-2012, 07:38 PM
I've got the bug :D waiting for hubby to stage an intervention!
I know you'll rock it clopina! I have every faith in you :D

02-25-2012, 01:25 AM
I feel your pain... er... mess... Pixie. I have scheduled my extra time on spring break to clean out/ clear out my basement and studio and get all my old vintage stock together to sell off.
Maybe I'll get some funky rubber gloves and watch some re-runs of Kim and Aggie for inspiration!

02-25-2012, 03:49 AM
Fantastic cards, Nicky! Totally awesome set. :D

And welcome to my new players.

Love sharing the inspiration!

02-25-2012, 08:00 AM
I've finished my cards~ Here's David Wenham as Dilios (300), Faramir (The Lord of the Rings), and Audrey (Moulin Rouge) :D

02-25-2012, 08:36 AM
Oh SWEET! I love that you picked such radically different looks...so very cool!

Doesn't hurt that I have a huge soft spot for Faramir either^_^

02-25-2012, 08:57 AM
Thank you, Kheelan! :D
I feel the same way about Faramir. <3 When I saw this swap I knew I just have to draw him. <3

02-25-2012, 09:37 AM
renren I LOVE your cards!! I want the Faramir one, haha! :goofy:

02-25-2012, 12:37 PM
Think there's going to be a fight for faramir! Love the cards renren! Awesome stuff!!!!

02-25-2012, 02:32 PM
Just realized I could do 6:6 so that SLIGHTLY makes it easier to choose but I still have too many ideas!!!! Definitely gonna do Tom Hanks (Ladykillers is a favorite of mine!) but what to do for a second set...........

02-25-2012, 03:37 PM
Haha! Very awesome!

Lovelovelove the Wenham set!

02-26-2012, 02:37 PM
Johnny Deep as Edward Scissorhands, Captain jack Sparrow, Sweeny Todd

02-26-2012, 02:44 PM
oh god Mike, that Jack Sparrow is just amazing!
Awesome cards!

02-26-2012, 11:00 PM
Oh Edward, the only Edward I truly swoon over! Screw sparkles, give me some scissors!

02-27-2012, 03:34 AM
Awesome cards mike! Edwards my fav too! :D

02-27-2012, 11:46 PM
Drew out my Tim Curry cards tonight. Not too shabby if I do say so myself. I will get them all inked and colored then post them :-)

02-28-2012, 05:28 AM
Fantastic cards, Mike!

I'm so glad this idea floated up in my sleep. This swap is so fun!

02-28-2012, 06:14 AM
Very excited to see tim curry cards adj!

02-28-2012, 05:23 PM
Ok, here is the man himself, Tim Curry as some of my favorite characters!

Hope you like them as much as I do, if not I'll keep them :-D

02-28-2012, 05:58 PM
Those are awesome adj!
Especially love darkness!!! I forgot he was the clown in IT....that scared the bejesus out of me! :D oh and doctor frankenfurter is super hot too!

02-29-2012, 04:51 AM
Aaaah! Those are perfect! Love 'em to death!

02-29-2012, 05:10 AM
I like this concept, wish I could draw people better. Might give it a go anyhow - the best way to get better is to practise, right? Don't sign me up yet though... Gotta decide WHO first!

Also, those of you counting cards they've made - I've about 60 cards shy of 3000. I started in 2005.

02-29-2012, 06:27 AM
Holy moly! Lemurkat that's awesome!!!!
And practice does help, I try to stay away from feet and hands as much as possible for the same reason ;)

02-29-2012, 02:08 PM
I'm thinking... Jude Law, perhaps? Will get back to you!

02-29-2012, 02:11 PM
If it's not too late, I will sign up with Tilda Swinton. (when you say "actor" you don't mean "male" right?)

02-29-2012, 02:49 PM
Ooh jude law and tilda swinton have done awesome films!

02-29-2012, 03:07 PM
Ooo Tilda Swinton is a perfect choice!

02-29-2012, 03:32 PM
Now I'm tempted by Leonardo DiCaprio.
Of course, Johnny Depp is the obvious choice, he gets awesome roles - but I can see he is already well represented here.

02-29-2012, 04:03 PM
Dina!! Happy to have you aboard! And yes, by actor I mean both male and female actors.

lemurkat, you are soooo welcome to join. So I hope you will. :D And, wow! 3000 cards! That's just crazy to think about. Also, what a collection you must have!

02-29-2012, 05:50 PM
I think it's going to be Anthony Hopkins for me.

02-29-2012, 06:50 PM
Cool! Can I decide to do 2 actors later or do I have to commit now? Thinking Zoe Saldana would be neat to do. (Just to get a blue Neytiri in there)

02-29-2012, 07:30 PM
I am thinking Tom Cruise ......

03-01-2012, 05:29 AM
Dina!! Happy to have you aboard! And yes, by actor I mean both male and female actors.

Yeh, it's pretty massive! Two bulging binders and a number of scrapbook albums - I started with scrapbook albums but they don't hold as many cards!

And I exaggerated, it's around 80 to go. I just thought I was closer. Also, that is all mail art so includes 6x4s and 8x8s and twinchies. Don't think I counted inchies though - not that I've made many of them.

03-01-2012, 01:24 PM
Also, those of you counting cards they've made - I've about 60 cards shy of 3000. I started in 2005.

I also started in '05 but I lost interest in counting by '06 LOL! I do know that at one point I had 2500 blanks cut at Staples and they are LONG gone!

03-01-2012, 01:48 PM
Oh you 2 are way more impressive than I am! Although that does give me a challenge!
And I totally need someone to cut and back mine out for me that would save me soooo much time!!!

03-01-2012, 01:58 PM

Fainting! ......

03-01-2012, 02:08 PM
Hehe I'm only at 2 binders, well 1s full of my own stuff to keep neat, the lady I trade for them thought I was mad because I asked for 2 more hehe...want to make sure I have somewhere to put them all now they've started coming back :D

03-01-2012, 02:37 PM
I only have one, but granted is a really big one! My son got it for me when I first started... he is so sweet to me :)

03-01-2012, 02:54 PM
Dina, you are free to change your mind as often as you wish. As long as the cards get here on time (which yours always do :)), you could do them all the night before!

I've got a couple of not super full binders, but I've also found fun ways of displaying the cards around the house so I can enjoy them more often. We've got a picture mobile hanging over the kitchen bar that we've clipped the hard plastic ATC cases in, and that's fun. Also, ages ago I bought a cabinet from IKEA for my room and this last summer I was staring at it and realized that the plastic inset panel in the door was just wide enough to fit three atcs. Now, it looks totally awesome. I've almost got it full. I should take a picture....

And last night I was watching my all time favorite comedy "Wet Hot American Summer" and I think I might have choose Jeneane Garofalo. She is so stinking funny.

03-01-2012, 03:09 PM
Ooh that does sound good eden! I have 1 on my wall so far with my heart/vampire cross stitch thingy I've got, don't want to have too many out though my kids are touchers! Hehe! I was thinking of making a tree from wire with crocodile clips on the ends of branches, think it would have to be hung from the ceiling ...

Ooh she is funny! I love her in romy and michelles high school reunion. I've not seen that one, must keep a look out for it! :D

03-02-2012, 03:35 AM
You know I was just sorting my envie to post my cards to you and I've not pm'd you for your address! Please can I have it. :D

03-02-2012, 04:19 AM

03-02-2012, 07:32 PM
Thank you eden, I'll let you know when they're on their way :D

03-02-2012, 08:14 PM
So I hope my cards qualify. I used to paint a lot of pop art, and I sort of went that route. Hope you like them!

I went for Tom Cruise. One of my favorite movies ever is the last samurai. So the movies are:
The Last Samurai
Risky Business, and
Top Gun

03-02-2012, 08:22 PM
I've changed my mind of who to draw again, but you can officially sign me up now as I've made my first card.

Who he is shall be revealed soon!

03-02-2012, 10:21 PM
SunTrade, you keep surprising me! Just when I think I have your style figured out, you do something different. WAY cool, woman :D

03-02-2012, 11:23 PM
please sign me up ! Irva

03-03-2012, 12:12 AM
See if you can guess who I'm drawing...

1. My actor is male
2. He was born in 1958 in England
3. He is often cast as a villain
4. He has been in 50 films (including some as a voice actor)
5. He has appeared on Friends
6. He has played a musician, a vampire, a wizard and a spy. Amongst many other roles.
7. He is....

03-03-2012, 12:34 AM
Would that be a certain Mr. Gary Oldman?

03-03-2012, 01:42 AM
Why, yes indeed it is.

I need an address now, please.

03-03-2012, 01:56 AM
Wahoo, you did Fifth Element!!! You are my hero! But no Dark Knight?

03-03-2012, 04:39 AM
I love Gary!! Awesome cards, kat! Will PM you now.

SunTrade those cards are awesome. What pop and style! Love it!

And welcome to the swap, Irva. :)

03-03-2012, 04:44 AM
Wahoo, you did Fifth Element!!! You are my hero! But no Dark Knight?

I stopped at four - do you think I should do six? Or rather - seven.

And if so - which movies should I do? Initially I was doing ones I had seen - but I've seem True Romance (I think, a long time ago) and Dark Knight as well. I suppose I could do the other Dracula images (with top hat, long hair and glasses instead of the "bum hair".

He was fun to draw, actually - the roles are so different and because he's not young, its nice to be able to add a few wrinkles and so forth. Plus he's a really eclectic actor.

03-03-2012, 06:56 AM
I note we are almost full. My cards are finished. EdensRainbow ... could you please PM me your addy?

03-03-2012, 07:39 AM
Hehe I was too slow to guess who it was but I was thinking oldman too not that it matters now you've posted your awesome cards lemurkat! Love the dracula!
And suntrade those are amazing!!! I love doing paintings like that too! :D

03-03-2012, 07:43 AM

03-03-2012, 10:53 AM
Nice cards, Suntrade and Lemurkat !

03-03-2012, 02:45 PM
I liked him as the spider in lost in space :D

I haven't seen Lost in Space.

Let me google it the images.

03-03-2012, 03:47 PM
Its quite good, but then I never watched the series so I didn't have to compare it to the original...
I love google :D

03-03-2012, 10:25 PM
(Can I still get into this party? I was on my way here when aliens erased my memory - AND made me buy art supplies. I hate that. At any rate, I hate to miss any party hosted by a prelapsarian refraction of light.)

03-04-2012, 12:03 AM
Nice, i wasn't sure about Dakota as a vamp, but she has surprised me. She is nicely creepy.

03-04-2012, 12:17 AM
SunTrade, you keep surprising me! Just when I think I have your style figured out, you do something different. WAY cool, woman :D

03-04-2012, 05:29 AM

03-04-2012, 12:02 PM
Thanks, everybody ...you're right ... which movies was the hard part

03-04-2012, 09:04 PM
Wow. How did I miss this one. Please sign me up Laurie. I will have to think upon which actor. Does ithave to be a male actor (or can I choose an actress)?

03-05-2012, 04:54 AM
I did never post WIPs here, but hey, I just wanted to let you guys know I'm working on my cards! You all posted such beautiful cards that I couldn't wait!
So here you have my Orlando Bloom as Will Turner.
This still needs coloring, but I'm so afraid of messing it up. XD

ok, I'm out. I promise my next post will be of actual art.
(still need to decide if I'm going to use acrylics or watercolours on these cards, tho.)

03-05-2012, 06:20 AM
Clopina, he's beautiful! What fantastic style! You're doing so fantastic already, don't be afraid!

Sharazoid in da swap! :jiggy: So glad you're playing. And yes, both male and female actors are welcome. (The feminist in my brain refuses to use "actress". Sorry, all. :))

03-05-2012, 06:21 AM
ceejay, those Robins are great! Love the Mrs. Doubtfire.

03-05-2012, 06:42 AM
Woo! Clopina he looks fantastic! I get scared everytime for the same reason :D

03-05-2012, 08:37 AM
Lookin' good, Clopina

03-05-2012, 10:46 AM
Mailed today Monday the 5th

03-05-2012, 11:28 AM
There are sure lots of beautiful cards coming through! Clopina, that Orlando is a heart thumper! I think it looks great in B&W if you decide not to color.

03-05-2012, 12:40 PM
(The feminist in my brain refuses to use "actress". Sorry, all. :))

Don't apologize for the feminist in your brain!

Before the Civil War started, Walt Whitman was working on a dictionary in which he wanted to propose a gender-neutral suffix, which I think (?) was trist; Actrist, Poetrist, etc. Pretty cool!

That Orlando Bloom card looks fabulous - as do all the cards in the thread!

03-06-2012, 05:05 AM
Nicky - the Dakota cards are very nice. You know, the only movie I have ever seen her in is War of the Worlds - although I have heard her in several others.

Ceejay - Robin Williams is awesome! Why didn't I think of him? Still, I think I chose well - and so did you ^^

03-06-2012, 06:25 AM
I had a list of about 10 people I still have 2 sets sketched out lol but the cary elwes will be a gift for my sister, and maybe the elijah wood ones too if I ever get him finished :D

03-06-2012, 08:50 AM
Ok. Done lurking. :) Sign me up if there's room. =) I'll try Drew Barrymore. Hope they turn out ok....

03-06-2012, 06:22 PM
Yay go lilacdragon!!!

03-07-2012, 01:00 AM
Maybe the R.O.U.S.'s got your sister pixie, if that is the case you can send Cary my way ;-p

03-07-2012, 06:03 AM
Hehe. Rats of unusually large size isn't it? She loves the princess bride! Well actually so do I lol! Its a shame we like similar things getting and giving her birthday presents is very hard not to keep them for myself had to give her the worm from labyrinth early or I'd have kept it :D

When I've finished them I'll post for you to see :D

03-07-2012, 06:30 AM
SingBlueSilver, sorry to see you go. Hope all works out well.

And welcome to LilacDragn! Love Drew. :)

03-07-2012, 09:06 AM
Oh no singbluesilver that's so sad!sending big hugs your way!

03-07-2012, 12:09 PM
Hugs ... singbluesilver ... it's never easy.

03-08-2012, 02:26 AM
Many condolences, Silver. Losing a pet is never an easy thing to go through. Take your time and don't push yourself.

Cards have arrived from Mikesatc, Suntrade, and ceejay. Beautiful work folks. :)

03-08-2012, 02:34 AM
Well, I was doing Robin Willams and I see someone else beat me to the punch. lol So I think I'm going to try Meryl Streep. Might go ahead and finish my Robin Williams cards, too.

03-08-2012, 06:30 AM
Mine have gone postal :D

03-11-2012, 04:41 AM
Can't wait to see them both! :D

03-12-2012, 01:11 PM
I was wondering if my cards arrived to you safely?

03-13-2012, 05:15 PM
Cards just in from Shawnicaitlin, renren and Nickyblade! Will leave all iTraders tonight after work. :D

Irva, will PM you now.

03-14-2012, 06:29 PM
And, of course, my internet was down last night. Everything is being updated now.

Anyone have movies they're looking forward to this year? I think the Julia Roberts "Snow White" story looks interesting. And "Brave". I'm *really* looking forward to Brave.

03-14-2012, 06:33 PM
I am looking forward to both of those Laurie. Not sure what else. I have been watching Once Upon A Time & really liking that one this season.

03-14-2012, 09:13 PM
I think The Hobbit is due out...this year perhaps? Other than that, haven't heard of anything good.

03-15-2012, 02:50 AM
I'm really liking Once Upon a Time too and can't WAIT for the Hobbit- though I thought maybe it was next year?

03-15-2012, 03:14 AM
I like the look of the raven but you guys have already had it over there :D

03-16-2012, 12:03 AM
Well, this is a goofy fun idea. I think I'd like to join up and know just who I am going to do. May I be added to your group?

03-16-2012, 04:55 AM
Of course! Welcome spineofafish. :)

I've been meaning to catch Once Upon a Time, but it seems like I'm never home for tv. It's worth checking out, though?

03-16-2012, 06:30 AM
I'm always home but never get to watch what I want :D did see alcatraz though was very good

03-16-2012, 07:16 AM
I record it & often watch it later. The premise is interesting. Not sure how well it will span seasons. My fave of this past season was American Horror Story, but I am disappointed that they are not continuing the storyline that they had. They will do a whole new storyline next season. Hope it is as good.

03-16-2012, 08:48 AM
Oh yes. I have been waiting for Tim Burton & Johhny Depp's collaboration in a Dark Shadows remake. Not sure what to expect after this trailer:

03-16-2012, 12:54 PM
I wish I'd known about that new johnny depp/tim burton film before I'd mailed my cards heehee

03-16-2012, 01:34 PM
I would like to play :)

03-16-2012, 02:02 PM
I see there is one more spot and I'd like to have it. I can't decide which actor/actress to do - so many great ones!

03-17-2012, 05:16 AM
Awesome people squeezing on in! Welcome. :D

03-17-2012, 11:27 PM
Got my last three done, Ron Perlman as Vincent from Beauty and the Beast, Reinholdt from Blade, and of course Hellboy!

03-18-2012, 03:14 AM
Yay!!! Fabntastic adj!!!! They are all so goood!

03-18-2012, 07:56 AM
Very creative choice. Hellboy is spot on! Love it.

03-19-2012, 04:40 AM

03-19-2012, 06:01 PM
Still trying to narrow it down. I have about 5 to choose from (besides the obvious Johhny Depp & Gary Oldman). I am going to challenge myself a bit.

03-22-2012, 10:04 AM
Shoot! Went to start on my Tom Hanks cards....not turning out. At least I have a number of other actors/actresses in mind :) It's so hard to narrow it down!!!!

03-22-2012, 10:13 AM
Have my cards shown up yet? :D

03-22-2012, 10:29 AM
I'm going to have to withdraw.

03-22-2012, 03:02 PM
Hey Eden, I chose Meryl Streep but I haven't seen the Iron Lady so I was wondering if I could do Fantastic Mr. Fox. She's the voice of the wife. But if that's too far a stretch, I can choose another one or make that your host gift, since I already have three others. Just let me know what you think :)

03-23-2012, 03:26 AM
Lisa, I have total faith in you. :)

debs, sorry to see you go! Thanks though!

Cards have arrived from pixiecorpse and kath! So many pretties already!

katrina, I'm gonna say go with it. I'm feeling magnanimous, and not really sure I used that word correctly....

03-23-2012, 04:20 AM
Phew! So glad they got there! Was beginning to get a little nervous now if my other set could just reach its destination today it will be a fantabulous day woo!

03-23-2012, 04:53 PM
I'm sure they will! They're much too awesome to get lost, I'm sure. :D

Anyone see the Hunger Games movie, yet? I'm a little worried it won't live up to the book...

03-23-2012, 04:57 PM
I'm waiting to see it until after I read the book.

03-23-2012, 05:18 PM
Its not out here yet...and I've not read the book either...saying that the last movie I went to see at cinema was saw 2 before we had #1 child...not been anywhere since lol

03-24-2012, 01:28 PM
I'm sure they will! They're much too awesome to get lost, I'm sure. :D

Anyone see the Hunger Games movie, yet? I'm a little worried it won't live up to the book...

It's really good! It really lives up to the book, and even though there are parts that they, naturally, have to minimize a little bit for time and whatnot, it keeps the feeling of the book so well and the characters are great. They added some extra scenes that show a bit more of Snow, which is nice because with it being in first person you don't get that in the book.

03-24-2012, 02:26 PM
That's good there's nothing worse than them completely messing up the book, like when they did the dean koontz Frankenstein pilot he was not pleased with the way they went on it. I thought it was good on its own but I can see why he wasn't happy...and there was vincent perez in it as the monster mmmm he's yummy!
Oh I couldve totally done him instead of keanu reeves...oh well at least you've got them wish my vamps would arrive at vickis too they are awesome...

03-24-2012, 11:45 PM
Here are my 3 "Tildas":
The White Witch, from Chronicles of Narnia

Woo! They are gorgeous Dina!!! The constantine 1s my favourite :D

03-25-2012, 09:33 AM
I've got it narrowed down to 3 Actors. I've got sketches for each. Oh...how to choose. I may have to do 6 & do 2 actors.

03-25-2012, 09:59 AM
That's how I did it too, I just sketched a few out and let my colouring in decide for me :D

03-25-2012, 11:38 AM
Love your cards Dina- beautiful shading work and the background on the White Witch is such a nice touch!

03-25-2012, 12:17 PM

03-27-2012, 08:12 PM
Everyone's chosen fantastic actors here! I always thought Nicole Kidman is a fun, quirky, and great actress. I especially loved her as Diane Arbus in "Fur". EdensRainbow, I was sure we had traded before, but I guess not. Could you please send me a pm of your mailing address?

03-28-2012, 08:27 PM
You *really* got her down! I loved her in the Golden Compass.

03-29-2012, 04:14 PM
Haha! I should make a movie using the cards of various actors to act out the scenes. That'd be hilarious.

03-29-2012, 04:21 PM
I know that's what I'd be doing with all those cards :D

03-29-2012, 09:54 PM

FINALLY lol...I'm done with these :) I went back and forth with them. I was having such a hard time with them but now that they're done, I'm feeling okay with how they turned out. Watched Marry Poppins today and kicked myself that I hadn't thought of doing Julie Andrews, but, oh well. I did Meryl as well :) Here they are:

04-13-2012, 01:10 PM
Oh boy is your art gorgeous alffly! Those are so WOW!

04-13-2012, 03:39 PM
I love all of them alffly, but comishoner gordon has me especially excited. Hint hint nudge nudge
