ANYWAY....Count me in! :cute:

04-20-2012, 09:31 AM
Thanks for the invite, Jennie. For some reason I've been meditating on and writing about hope a lot lately. This swap comes at a perfect time. Though I do love me some Dover cut outs, I guess I can put the books away for this one.

04-20-2012, 09:47 AM

Welcome the_girl_with _the_starry_eyes so glad you joined. Hope is so uplifting. And you get to use all the fun stuff.

Make sure you read what you can't use guys. I don't want to have to send anything back. Oh and everyone post their cards to the thread so we can all see the wonderful work. Anyone that hasn't started their gallery I'd be happy to help if you PM me.

04-20-2012, 08:36 PM
Jennie, can we use Christian imagery, ie. a cross? I was just about to start but thought I would make sure on this.

04-20-2012, 10:41 PM
Absolutely! Kathy I think that is a wonderful idea. Mine were going to be Christ inspired with the exception of one that is family inspired.

If there is anyone that would rather not receive a Christian card in return simply PM me and make it know.

04-22-2012, 10:56 PM
This was fun and inspiring. I could not put these down. So here is what I came up with this weekend.

04-23-2012, 12:15 AM
KathyD they are wonderful. The colors, the different materials all great i can't wait to see them IRL

04-23-2012, 12:15 AM
They are cool, you have inspired me, I'm off to do some more on mine.

04-23-2012, 12:19 AM
Wonderful 1orange

04-27-2012, 09:27 PM
Here is one of my atc's.
Made of Perspex, wallpaper, hand-made paper, buttons and bits of plastc.

04-28-2012, 11:43 AM
Love it, Love it
And why does this show your hope? It's so cool

04-28-2012, 04:33 PM
I decided to double layer the art work, art on the bottom of the Perspex, and art on top, to show a layering effect. Which means to me, even though our lives are full of obstacles coming our way from different directions, I still have HOPE that everything will turn out right.
Hope that's not to deep for anyone.

04-28-2012, 05:36 PM
I adore that thought

05-01-2012, 12:17 AM
Bumping us up the list

05-01-2012, 10:13 AM
1orange. What a neat card! The chaotic background (things coming at us) was what I was going for with two of my cards. It is a very pretty card.

05-09-2012, 08:17 AM
Awesome! there are sticky notes of instruction throughout the site as to how to use the AFA gallery. It's quite easy once you get used to it. http://www.atcsforall.com/forum/faq.php toward the bottom of the page is all the info remember though your pictures have to be under a certain size and need to be jpeg

05-13-2012, 12:16 PM
Do to health and other problems I need to withdraw. I can't find my hope right now. Sorry

05-13-2012, 02:06 PM

05-19-2012, 07:21 AM
Whew! I am done.
I am a drawer, but since Jennie challenged me I've been working to come up with something. Inspiration came pretty quickly, but trying to work in non traditional materials didn't. Here are the results, what do you think?

hi Ladies and gentlemen where as I am extraordinary I do lack psychic abilities, (Now that might be a neat thing to have.)Anyway I do lack psychic abilities and therefore would greatly appreciate your user name and which swap this is for on the back of the envelope. I have to admit guessing is so fun, but at times, it's very time consuming.

Mail call I rec'd beautiful cards from Raineyday

05-26-2012, 02:08 PM
Hayhill62 - your cards are awesome - especially the fabric one with the one - outstanding. I saw that you usually draw - you really stepped out of your comfort zone and made it happen. I am the opposite and this year I have done 2 swaps that I had to draw - doesn't it feel good to push ourselves and stretch and grow our talents a little more? Beautiful work!

05-26-2012, 02:11 PM
KathyD just came across your beauties - they are true mixed medium works of art - I bet you had a blast creating those! I bet they are the kind of cards you can touch and look at for hours.

05-26-2012, 03:06 PM
1orange - great idea with all that layering your cards are all going to be wonderful!

05-26-2012, 03:22 PM
Hooray for Jennie - so brave of you to host a swap with real dimension and texture - I love works of art that have tactile elements that add to their beauty. I've learned so much from my buddies at the post office and have found that instead of compromising on the elements I want to use on a card for an extra 20 cents and a hand cancel I can use that vintage button, twisted wire, altered chipboard or whatever :daydreaming: and know my card will arrive to it's new home safely. I hope to be back to join and soon as I settle from our trip.

05-26-2012, 09:55 PM
Dena, I agree. I love texture too. I'm trying to come up with different interesting swaps that hasn't been already done while I have been at AFAThings at aren't specific to any characters. I really thought that this one would be fun and a bit challenging.

Mail Call I rec'd card from hayhill Thank you for the wonderful host card

05-29-2012, 11:00 PM
Mail Call- Wonderful cards from Sassy- Now here is thinking out of the box The hostess card is made with Legos- It's wonderful thank you!

06-04-2012, 09:20 PM
sorry to loose you frances maybe you'll join the next swap

06-06-2012, 08:03 AM
A question Jennie...are danglies allowed if it contributes to the sentiment? Just wondering as eyelets and ribbons/fibers are on the okay list.

06-06-2012, 12:44 PM
I love danglies. Everything is fair game

EXCEPT No glitter, Rubber stamping, Stickers, Photographs (including photos from the magazines) , and Dover graphic cut outs-

06-06-2012, 02:33 PM
Mail Call: I rec'd cards from julebear- thank you for the extra.

06-13-2012, 02:12 AM
Jennie sorry I have to drop from this wonderful swap. The ideas looked fine in my head but a bit blah in real life. I think I need more practice and confidence with abstract.

06-13-2012, 02:25 PM
I understand wen-nine maybe the next swap

06-14-2012, 11:48 PM
Okay, I better officially lurk so I don't forget about this swap. I dont want to formally commit commit yet, but being subscribed reminds me.... :)

06-16-2012, 01:52 AM
Oh no. I reached for my ink pad and a rubber stamp jumped onto my card without me seeing it. (sneaky stamp!) I just finished the card and there is a smidge of Tim Holtz stamp image showing, just one inspirational word and an itsy bit of circle. Is that going to be a problem? I can cover it up, but it flows so well as is. I have scolded that stamp and warned all the rest to stay off my craft table for now. There will be no more problems. Let me know....

06-16-2012, 05:02 PM
Well Scrap Pea what are the requirements for this swap. I mean like there are a million mediums that you are welcome to use and only 5 that you can't use. I don't know... what other mediums are you using? I have cards that are done with legos, to wood, and a mixture of all kinds of things.

Well ok this time only. but make sure to admonish that stamp thoroughly.

06-17-2012, 02:49 PM
Welcome Karrell! Glad to have you, please make sure that you read all the instructions for the swap on the first page

06-18-2012, 06:42 AM
Awww.... there's no way I can make the due date on this one... but I wanna lurk. You have a GREAT idea here!!

Welcome Ligilass. Glad to have you with us

06-19-2012, 05:31 PM
Hi everyone just a reminder we only have about 1 1/2 weeks left. Please remember that they need to be postmarked by July 1st.

06-20-2012, 02:48 AM
Well Jennie, I followed your directions and stretched myself silly on this one. I'm a little sore...Good Orderly Direction really did not scan well, too much texture I think. It has a pressed orchid (with 80+ orchids in my home there is alot of hope brought into play here). There is an embossed metal directional arrow guiding one onward with the call to action "go" tag. In ancient literature a dragonfly is a symbol of God's presence. In "Nest of Dreams" hope is the nurturing mother bird that feeds our hearts' dreams and desires. "Heart Stitches" is hope strengthening and mending one's heart. "Unlock the Answers" is a hinged card with the keyhole being the front. Hope unlocks the doors to our questions, filling in the missing puzzle piece.

06-20-2012, 11:29 AM
