definitely-Feb is perfect for that
will you be sending PMs?-you might post it to the "watercolor wizards "social group for starters.
thanks for the idea

12-09-2012, 11:17 AM
Thanks for the idea...I didn't know where to start posting PMs. Any other ideas as to how to get the message out? I'm lost...

12-09-2012, 04:29 PM
I might consider it Eleanor. I'm not great, but could contribute a little.

12-09-2012, 05:08 PM
Carole, it looks like there is plenty of interest for a paint-athon. Can we get it on the schedule for Feb 1-4? Thanks!

12-09-2012, 06:03 PM
You may need to post here:

If you don't mind newbies--like finger paints and abstracts--I'm game. :)

12-09-2012, 06:35 PM
Cynthia, I think ANY type of painter would be welcome to participate...go for it!

12-10-2012, 02:53 AM
i could paint abstracts - that's about it!!!!

12-10-2012, 03:32 AM
I am in...if I am home. We will go to Belfast around that period, or I could have a meeting with the Psychologists group of which I am the administrator.
Fingers crossed!!!

12-10-2012, 09:43 AM
jonquil, I think abstracts are FABULOUS! I think the main idea is all about "painting"...

marilou, I sure hope you can join in...you got some SKILLS!!!

12-10-2012, 10:38 AM
Just got news from the organization, meeting will be on Monday February 4th, and I will have to leave on Sunday. How could they
Being optimistic, I still have Friday ans Saturday.

12-10-2012, 11:05 AM
We'd love to have you as much as we can. Really, can't you tell them they need to push it back a week -- you have a more important engagement lined up :biglaugh:

12-10-2012, 11:11 AM
They are cognitive psychologists, if they have put their mind on something, good luck trying to change it, but they pay me for my hobby!!!!

12-10-2012, 11:22 AM
Doggone it all anyway...I actually think I may be married to one...try telling him anything! But I love him and like your group, he pays for my obsession(s)!

12-10-2012, 11:26 AM
I KNOW I am married to one :biglaugh: but you know, sleeping with the dog, and you catch his flees LOL

12-10-2012, 11:38 AM
Ah -- such truth to start my day off right!

12-10-2012, 01:44 PM
You guys are cracking me up..

12-10-2012, 01:47 PM
I'll be lurking and hopefully jumping in! Eleanor, you might try posting a PM to the folks who take part in the various painting PIFs and MMHs in the atc trades gallery...and you can post an invitation in the HD/HP swaps in open and active for others who might be interested. I've seen that done.

12-10-2012, 02:33 PM
Thanks Jean...really good ideas!

12-10-2012, 08:20 PM
If I'm home that weekend...never know when the eldest son will kidnap me and for how long...I'll play in the paint-a-thon!

12-10-2012, 08:58 PM
here's hoping!

12-10-2012, 10:19 PM
Cynthia, I think ANY type of painter would be welcome to participate...go for it!

Thanks. This year I conquered drawing, thanks to AFA. Next year, painting is on my schedule. :)

12-10-2012, 10:27 PM
You go, girl!

Spirit Soul
12-15-2012, 10:16 PM
I'd like to participate too. Let's hope the gods are with me and don't throw too many obstructions in my way.

12-19-2012, 01:52 PM
A paint a thon sounds like fun!

12-20-2012, 02:29 AM
Sounds like fun.

12-20-2012, 03:23 AM
I'd love to "athon" with you painters!

12-20-2012, 09:54 AM
Sounds like the momentum is starting to build. YIPPEE! If anyone has some ideas or requests for challenges and daily games please pass them along. I think it's always good to stretch a bit to make our talents grow...

12-28-2012, 10:04 AM
GREAT! Lots of fun folks will be playing...always a party!

12-31-2012, 12:57 AM
I'm really new to painting and not very good yet but I hope to paint more in 2013 and improve, so I would be interested in playing.

12-31-2012, 10:06 AM
Outstanding! You will be most certainly welcome to join the fun!

12-31-2012, 12:10 PM
Hi! if anyone out there would like to co-host with Linda4atc and myself, we'd love to hear from you, especially someone on the other side of the world from California, USA.

12-31-2012, 12:36 PM
oh I would love to co-host, but I will on a dull meeting as from Sunday 3th
Maybe I can skip the meeting????? What if I get ill??? No no no no tricks girly :nah:
Happy New Year everyone!!!

12-31-2012, 12:53 PM
Most excellent, Marilou! Not about the meetings, though

01-01-2013, 10:53 AM
I would volunteer as well, but my DH has just surprised me with tickets to go see Chef Geoffrey Zakarian in Atlantic City. I'll be gone the first and the second.

01-01-2013, 11:13 AM
Would you be available on the 3rd and 4th? Marilou has to be away those two days. If you could that would have all days covered by at least three people. Please think about it...

01-01-2013, 12:00 PM
This would be perfect Neener, fill in the gap please!!!

01-01-2013, 01:20 PM
Yup, works for me. Consider me the back up. I'm not very good at this stuff, but I''ll try.

01-25-2013, 09:36 AM
Everyone got their thinking hats on?? Only a week away to the Paint-athon! Hmm.. guess I better take my own advice and start getting some ideas together.

01-25-2013, 11:29 AM
Oh yes...can't wait. I will try some different techniques, different style.....just
playing around and have fun! Too many ideas for only 2 days.

01-25-2013, 01:32 PM
Hi...how will the paintathon work (I've never participated in an -athon before)? Will there be specific themes for specific days?

01-25-2013, 03:41 PM
I will post an "initial" thread on Thursday with more instructions, but mostly you just paint (or if participating in a different "athon", whatever that is). Some participants actually start working on their pieces before the start time -- for this one it will be midnight on Friday, whatever time zone you're in -- some wait until the actual start time. You can begin posting your artwork as soon as the athon begins, either in the Athon gallery or on the thread or both. If you see something you'd be interested in, you would then PM that artist, or they may PM you if you have something they'd like.

There will be some challenges; hopefully they will be "challenging" enough to interest you, but they are in no way mandatory to play. This is all about having fun while you paint. All paint mediums will be welcome, even fingerpaints :D so I hope everyone will feel comfortable participating.

Any other questions, please ask...

01-25-2013, 04:29 PM
I just ordered some paint and atc blanks for it. :)

01-25-2013, 06:37 PM
Yea!!! Now it's a party :jiggy:

01-26-2013, 03:40 AM
athon= art marathon ;)

01-29-2013, 12:12 PM
Planning on this. :)

01-29-2013, 02:57 PM
I am cheating....sorry. I had made some HD/HP Easter greeting cards, and at the same time made some ATC's for the athon. Will not post them, I am waiting till friday morning, probably will be up early :biglaugh:

01-29-2013, 03:24 PM
I've been drawing some things ahead as well since I will be out of town until late on Sat.

01-29-2013, 03:32 PM
Well, true confession time...I've been painting also. But will not post until the athon opens. Let's see, Marilou, you're how many hours ahead of me, so then I don't have to stay up "stupid" late to start posting? :biglaugh:

01-29-2013, 03:42 PM
Just for clarification. Is this paint-athon strictly paint- i.e. watercolor, acrylic, etc. or is it the traditional hd/hp with pens, pencils, chalks and such included?

01-29-2013, 04:00 PM

I might have to drop in and dabble! I would love to have some themes and ideas to work with... Something to mull over while I wait :biglaugh:

01-29-2013, 04:34 PM
Kentucky, I think it is just going to be painting. Whatever medium you use be it watercolor, acrylic or oils. There will be themes and one day is actually painting using a medium you aren't familiar with. For me that will be acrylic. I'm not good at that. Not like our fearless leader Lv2paint!

01-29-2013, 05:46 PM
As most of you are in the USA....I will be first nananna na na
Oh boy how childish, but I love to go crazy, as live sometimes live sucks, sorry ladies
we are going through a rough time lately, and only AFA keeps me more or less sane :biglaugh:

01-29-2013, 06:02 PM
Yep I know about that sanity thing. If I didn't have this I'd be in a rubber room somewhere sitting in the corner and giggling to myself.

01-29-2013, 06:21 PM

Yup.. Meeeeee too!

01-29-2013, 07:51 PM
Kalycakes and others with questions...this Art-athon is about painting, but using ALL paint mediums. Since many inks are considered a paint medium, I say go for it. Pastels (chalk) have for centuries been considered a paint medium. Then there are the watercolor pencils and finger paints. The list is too numerous to name. My co-hosts may correct me, but if one can purchase it in the paint or fine art section, sounds like paint to me...

Some of the daily challenges will include landscapes, faces, using a less-than-familiar paint medium, abstracts, insects and trees. There will be others, but this gets your imaginations a jumping off point.

Couple more days and we'll be off to the races!

01-29-2013, 08:27 PM
some of the painters on here have pestered ( encouraged) me to paint, so i may take a shot at this too!!! How is finger painting??? just kidding!

01-30-2013, 03:22 AM
I think I will try encaustics, Linda4atc made beautiful cards, and I am the lucky owner of 2 of them. Never done that before!

01-30-2013, 09:50 AM
I'm thinking of doing some encaustics as well. Need to get some drawn on that kind of stock.

Angelmuz I suggested finger painting for one of the days as a kind of joke too. I believe I said it as finger painting or whatever body part you could get to the table. :))

01-30-2013, 03:52 PM
I'll try to get in a few things too. I mostly do watercolors, but line my drawing in pen ink. Is this acceptable?

01-30-2013, 05:48 PM
Why yes, kwailin...sounds fabulous!

01-31-2013, 02:57 PM
hello hello, another 4 hours and 5 minutes to go before the start of the marathon overhere! Will be in bed though.
Do we stay at this thread or will there be another official one for the start tomorrow?
Whatever...I am ready!

01-31-2013, 03:52 PM
Marilou, I did post the initial official thread HERE (http://www.atcsforall.com/forum/showthread.php?t=25488) if you want to check it out. Since you are in the earlier time zone, I think whenever you're ready to post -- you go girl!!!
