Unusual Media Swap

This is a swap for ATC's made out of things other than card stock. Some examples that I can think off that would fit the theme include

Glass, metal, wax, wire, cork, wood, foam, plastic, papyrus, stone, beads, rubber, dried fruit skin or flowers, clay, shell, hand made felt etc.... the imagination is the limit!
If you want to made a base out of something that needs a card base underneath to make it sturdy that is fine! For example a wax card base would need a card underneath to prevent cracking.
Let's try and be really inventive with these cards. If someone has an image of an ATC made completely from wire PM me as I would love to put it as an example. I remember one on the OS.

I am in England so most of the return postage for me I will cover (for international players).
If you are in the UK send a SSAE.
If you are international, a self addressed envie is very helpful to me. If you would like to send me stamps from your country I would be most grateful as I can then send them to swap hosts of swaps I play in.
Make sure that you have your username on all your cards! (and also your envie)
If you need to withdraw, just let me know. When you are ready to send, PM me for my address. (Please note that I moved house last June so if you are storing an old address for me and are not sure if it is my recent one....please PM me to check!)

I also love people to post their creations into the thread for all to see as we go along, tis fun!

Here are some examples from my collection

1st card made from paperclay and is by Bluellen
2nd card is made from something with loads of little beads in it…not sure what but it is COOL, made by Annalise
3rd card made from texture medium and is by me! Lol
4th card made from cork and is by dmnh
5th card made from wood by Judi
6th card made from ‘punchie needles’ and is by Auntie Curley

Hello Mrs Ragbrutty! welcome to the swap! Felting something would be cool! But do whatever your heart desires.

04-08-2008, 06:14 PM
How about that black scratch off stuff? I've made some atcs w/ it, traded one at the os. I traded a wood card here. I have a couple made of clay in my collection. I'm thinking...I really like the theme. I'll subscribe and see if I can come up w/ anything before I jump in.

Yay Arsena!

04-14-2008, 01:26 PM
I'd love to play in this swap, but I'm allergic to wool. Can I join, and request not to get any wool felted cards? If that will be too much trouble, just let me know. It's really too bad. I love the felted look...

04-14-2008, 02:27 PM
Of course, you may need to remind me nearer the time just to make sure I don't send you any.

04-14-2008, 03:31 PM

Welcome fingers and rockstarsgirl!

04-15-2008, 05:10 AM
I was at a live trade on Saturday, and traded for an ATC made out of a CD. I'm going to try to make some CD's into ATCs for this swap. Wish me luck!

04-15-2008, 06:14 AM

04-15-2008, 07:35 AM
My cards went postal today. Pls let me know when they arrive.

04-15-2008, 08:13 AM
Wow that was quick! Want to show us what you did?

Vicki Z
04-15-2008, 09:18 AM
Sorry, they are already in the mailbox, and I think I might get arrested trying to pull them out.
1. One was a Southwest Navajo Indian Theme on Burlap
2. One was heat embossed flowers on vellum with silver wrap ribbon
3. One was violet colored violets on violet colored suede with liquid applique seed centers
4. One was black ink on acetate - a very cool geisha in full regal dress, with sparkles, and glitter, and silk, oh my.
Afraid you are going to have to wait for the postman to actually see them.
Three for the swap - one for the host - your choice

04-15-2008, 09:23 AM
Ooooh they sound amazing! such variety. I am been painting on plastic this afternoon.

Vicki Z
04-15-2008, 09:31 AM
I was using metalic markers on shrink plastic, but when heated, the shrink plastic shrunk, and the metal paint didn't, which, although it gave a very interesting "ruffled" look, the ruffles were in the wrong place, and really ruined the piece.
I am still experimenting with that technique, or you were going to get a plastic one in the swap, and I was going to keep the burlap one. I REALLY liked that one.

04-15-2008, 09:41 AM
this swap would be great can i join I already have ideas......

04-16-2008, 02:33 PM
Does this count as "unusual"? ;)

Plastic wrap in green and clear, and blue cellophane (all heated together), and a betta fish on shrink plastic.

Vicki Z
04-16-2008, 03:36 PM
I would call it unusual!!
When you heated them together, did it melt into one amalgomous (spelling??) background?
I am going to have to try that one tonight!!!
Thanks for the tip - and the pict

04-16-2008, 03:50 PM
That is a very cool card! I have Bettas...

04-16-2008, 05:03 PM
Yep! That is very unusual... and beautiful!

04-16-2008, 05:12 PM
Thank you, everyone! :embarrassed: I love bettas.

Vicki - the plastic didn't really melt into each other... exactly. Have you ever taken Saran Wrap off a bowl, set it aside, and had it sort of shrink into itself because it was so hot? That's what this did. I played with it all morning with just the green, and wasn't completely satisfied with it, I added the blue cellophane between it and the clear wrap and sort of folded it into itself in a fairly good-sized piece (5x7 maybe?). I used my heat gun and worked both sides (I had it on a cookie sheet), and flattened it periodically with a empty round salt shaker (rolling pin is in the dishwasher  ) I think the pieces would peel apart if I really tried, but they'd tear.

04-16-2008, 08:38 PM
I would like to join this swap if there is still room! Thanks Rooskie

04-17-2008, 03:41 AM
Welcome Baleau and Rooskie!

04-17-2008, 01:34 PM
Volomortuus I am removing you from the swap for the time being.

04-19-2008, 01:30 AM
Loralou, I'm so sorry but I need to drop out of this swap. Maybe next time. Thanks, Rooskie

04-19-2008, 05:10 PM
Please sign me up for this interesting swap!

Can you, Loralou, or anyone else on this thread, give me safe mailing tips for cards like this, especially to another country (I am US)? I've been sending cardstock weight or matboard weight cards with no trouble, but these might be a bit bulkier.

04-20-2008, 05:27 AM
It depends what you make them from and how fragile they might be. I suggest sandwiching between card to prevent bending and to prevent injury.

04-20-2008, 09:48 PM
Please, please, please let me into this swap! I have been waiting to come up with something totally different. And when I look in the gallery for things I want I always choose the most unique! Still room? If so, Loralou, sign me up!

04-21-2008, 02:50 AM
Welcome to another of my swaps Therapyartist!

04-21-2008, 04:42 AM
I would love to join this swap if theres room ?

elaine x

04-21-2008, 04:59 AM
ok i will play please as long due date thanks

04-21-2008, 12:46 PM
Here's my 2nd one:

I used the Fiskars embossing plates and their embossing tool with the ball bearings in it. Even tho I taped the aluminum down, it still wanted to curl up long-ways.

04-21-2008, 01:29 PM
welcome paperfairys and duckface!
Asena you are making some COOL cards!

04-21-2008, 02:20 PM
I love that rainbow/braid one, Asena. Is that aluminum foil? What did you put behind it to hold the shape? Its very cool.

I've made my 3 CD cards, and will try and upload a picture today. I also made a couple out of a Foam Coffee cup. I hadn't planned on it, but the coffee cup had such great decorations, I couldn't resist. Its not exactly styrofoam, but some type of soft foamy stuff. I used parts of the cup, and glued it to cardstock, so not sure if it really qualifies as 'unusual materials' but it does look cool....

04-21-2008, 03:10 PM
Stormarela - I used a soda can. I was afraid it might be too thick to emboss, and I did have to put some elbow grease behind it, but it worked fine!

04-21-2008, 03:10 PM
Sounds pretty unusual to me!

Vicki Z
04-21-2008, 03:37 PM
We are remodeling our kitchen, and I just finished an ATC out of left-over spackle, a formica sample chip, and luminere paint.

My gosh, it is stunning! Now I am off to the dumpster to see what else the kitchen crew might have thought I didn't want -- silly men!
See what you started.:goofy:

04-21-2008, 03:44 PM
Vicki got your cards today! You sent 4... is one for me? Great start to the swap!

04-21-2008, 04:09 PM
silly men!

Can I get an "Amen!" on that! Sheesh - what are they thinkin', throwin' out art supplies?!

Vicki Z
04-21-2008, 04:39 PM
It was soooo funny:laugh: I am up-ended in the dumpster, and one of the guys (sweetie-pie) must have thought I fell in and hurt myself.

He came running out to check, and here I am, pulling out all the stuff they just put in. I got a red bull can (your next metal swap) and some of the thinnest (wood) underlayment that will make great card backs.

Now they are stacking my art supplies - ahrr - garbage - in the wheelbarrow, and I get to go through it BEFORE it goes into the dumpster. Pretty much a win/win situation. I think I'll bake a batch of cookies for the crew!!

Vicki Z
04-21-2008, 04:44 PM
oh, yes, Loralou, the 4th card is a hostie gift, your choice.
Pls check Post #34, page 2
Sorry, I should have put in a note, I thought I did... dah.

04-21-2008, 05:05 PM
They may be silly, but apparently chivalry ain't dead. :D Shoot, I'm so impressed, I might bake some cookies and eat them in their honor! :biglaugh:

04-21-2008, 05:32 PM
I might bake some cookies and eat them in their honor! :biglaugh:

that sounds like a good idea...:)

04-21-2008, 08:16 PM
I was so hoping to get in this swap that I went ahead and made 3 cards. Let me see if I can figure out how to get two of them posted. (One is in water diluting the paper that - oops - stuck to it.)

Yay! This is fun!

04-21-2008, 08:33 PM

Wire and glass is just wire and glass beads - not a great scan.

Sculpy Dragonfly was made with Eraser Sculpy. Also not a great scan. The background is dark blue.

04-22-2008, 04:47 AM
wow love the wire one!

Vicki Z
04-22-2008, 07:57 AM
I might bake some cookies and eat them in their honor! :biglaugh:
Hey, Asena, leave some for me!!!

((Wire and glass is just wire and glass beads - not a great scan.))

TherapyArtist, GREAT wire and glass card!

04-22-2008, 02:55 PM
Wow! There are some very creative cards appearing here! I like the airiness of TherapyArtist's wire and glass bead piece, and also the embossed pieces by two artists here. Standards are being set pretty high!

04-22-2008, 04:21 PM
OK - here's my 3rd; leather and feathers unusual enough? I did glue the leather onto cardstock for stability.

Sorry for the crappy scan - the original is brighter.

04-22-2008, 04:39 PM
Wow a little person on a card, I love it!
Please don't worry if your chosen material is 'unusual' enough. If it isn't your standard cardstock with standard stuff on it, it is unusual.

04-22-2008, 06:33 PM
This one was time consuming but I love the way it turned out all farm-like!4422

See! It's all miniature dowels glued together one,,,,by,,,one...:swoon:

04-22-2008, 07:16 PM
My unusual materials are on their way!

04-22-2008, 07:37 PM
OK, here are two more. Yes, I realize I have put four. I've made 5 and am in the middle of 6. I will choose the best ones for the swap. Your comments - here or on my gallery - will help me choose which to send. I got wayyyyy carried away with this. FUN! Loralou - do this again!

04-22-2008, 08:01 PM
This one was time consuming but I love the way it turned out all farm-like!4422

See! It's all miniature dowels glued together one,,,,by,,,one...:swoon:

SUPER amazing! i'm sure it was time consuming, but it looks awesome!:notworthy:

04-22-2008, 09:18 PM
I really like the dowel one!

04-23-2008, 03:27 AM
That dowel one is cool! Very imaginative :) Terapy artist love those sculpy ones, is that what they are? and Stormarela, they look interesting, I can't guess what any of them are made from, are there some foamy cups in there?

04-23-2008, 03:38 AM
The turquiose one has the foam cup bits, the 2 squares are cut from the cups, and glued onto cardstock.

The other three are the cd's. You can see the center wholes. The 'norton anti virus' one has trees that I drew with sharpies. The Red one was a red cd, that I wrote all over in black ink. The third cd has yellow silk flowers and buttons glued onto it. The cds are a bit hard to cut (with scissors) and have sharp edges, but I 'sealed' them with crystal effects , so they are not sharp anymore.

04-24-2008, 12:44 PM
Is there room for one more...Therapyartist has talked me into it. I would love to swap.

04-24-2008, 01:31 PM
Sure jetleg! Glad to see you in another of my swaps!

04-26-2008, 04:33 PM
Received from Stormerela today. Thanks for the extra and the postage as well hun :)

04-28-2008, 12:03 AM
May I play?

04-28-2008, 01:09 AM
I'd like to join this swap, please!

04-28-2008, 06:39 PM
I've been playing today! I've knitted a couple of ATCs. Should I mount them on to card, or leave them as they are and attach a label with my details?

04-28-2008, 06:48 PM
That is *excellent*! I haven't tried crocheting wire - does it give you much fuss knitting it?

04-28-2008, 07:16 PM
Not much! Crocheting was the next step, but my fingers are a bit sore to do it tonight. But that's more my problems than the wire, as that's quite flexible. This is .280mm.

HMT thinks I'm nuts, but entered into my search taking me to likely shops. I was also looking for resistors and diodes and he found me packs of them, but I wanted to know if I could get other colours, so went off to ask. (This is where HMT divorced himself from the proceedings!)
The guy behind the counter asked what watt I wanted and was flabbergasted when I told him I didn't know, what colours were they! When he heard they were for embroidery he was speechless, but the woman on the phone next to him found it very funny.
Long story short, they didn't have any different from the packs, but if there's anyone who would like a few I've got plenty!!

04-28-2008, 08:31 PM
Men are so silly - they never seem to see the potential in things...

Skybluepink (http://www.skybluepink.com/products3.html) sells packs of resistors and I keep meaning to ask my dad (a mechanic) if he has any lying around not doing anything. I'll be down there in a week, so perhaps he'll let me root around in the garage. He'll roll his eyes, ask if it's for "arts and craps" and let me have what I want.

04-28-2008, 08:41 PM
If my Dad was alive, he'd have had everything I was looking for! Also if I was back in SA, I'd have known just where to go and get them. I just don't know my way around Glasgow yet, at least not for all the little shops that'll happily sell you one of, instead of a pack of 100!

04-28-2008, 11:06 PM
where i used to work, the locking mechanisms were always coming out of the furniture on the show room floors, so i'd pick them up and take them home. haven't actually used them yet, but they have a couple diff colors of metal to them and i always found the interesting. the weird things we pick up for craft projects.

04-29-2008, 01:56 PM
Oooh gorgeous leave them without backing. therapyartist just attached tags to hers without a back it worked well.

04-29-2008, 01:56 PM
Welcome clweeks and dmnh!

04-29-2008, 02:03 PM
Received lots of packages today!
From Lisa Vollrath, some wicked wooden cards! Thanks for the postage.
From Paper faeries some cards made from alsorts, thanks for the extra!
From Asena her unusual cards, thanks for the postage.
From Therapy artist her wire card and sculpy cards, thanks for the extra!

Can I just remind people that although these cards are of unusual media, they still need to be of the correct ATC size and a good way to gauge this is to check it fits inside an ATC sleeve.

I have already received some that are not of the right size, so I will need volunteers who don't mind receiving cards of this kind. Please post to the thread.

04-29-2008, 03:37 PM
I don't mind receiving something off-sized. :cute:

Thanks for letting me know my contributions arrived!

04-29-2008, 04:04 PM
Mine barely fit in a sleeve. I am going to try to trim them, but with unusual media, it is hard to allow for thickness and maintain the outside dimensions of an ATC. I will probably make creative ATC sized paper envelopes. The pattern I downloaded some time ago from another site allows just a smidgen of extra room. (But I'm still trying to tackle the size challenge!)

04-29-2008, 05:12 PM
I am not too worried about thickness, I am more concerned with 2.5 by 3.5 inches. Don't get too worked up about it, but just not way off.

04-29-2008, 09:32 PM
Can I just remind people that although these cards are of unusual media, they still need to be of the correct ATC size and a good way to gauge this is to check it fits inside an ATC sleeve.

I'd taken that as a given!
I've found I can crochet with it too, :D but I don't have beads big enough to fit the hook through and I was too impatient to thread them on before as I did with the knitting. I'll use these as a base and add something to it.
This finding unusual media could get quite addictive.

04-29-2008, 09:40 PM
This finding unusual media could get quite addictive.

Oh, yes! I have bits leftover from putting up a new tub/shower surround that cuts with heavy duty scissors, but I can't decide what to do with the pieces, embellishment-wise. DH did "let" me keep the scraps. ;)

04-29-2008, 11:02 PM
I don't mind receiving off size cards...they can be bigger or smaller, just so long as they are nifty....which sounds like a given. I can't wait to see the results from this one.

04-30-2008, 09:30 AM
3/3 means just three, not multiples of three like 6/6 or 9/9 -- the swap will explicitly note those as options if they are, correct?

04-30-2008, 12:38 PM
Asena (correct spelling!) and jetleg thanks for putting yourselves down for offsized cards! I'll note it in the list.
CLweeks yes this is a 3/3 swap, not multiples of 3. As I pay for all the postage myself I need to keep these at 3 or they might get quite heavy (and expensive)
Thanks to all who send me postage from their countries.

05-04-2008, 01:20 PM
I'd like to join.

05-04-2008, 01:44 PM
Hi zanylady!

05-05-2008, 03:32 PM
I made some cards for our swap this evening
One with acetate and glass paint, one with texture medium and one with friendly plastic!

05-05-2008, 10:14 PM
I haven't checked in on this thread for a while, so it has been interesting catching up. I have made only one card for the swap so far. It is friendly plastic and gel glaze on a CD base. I will attach a pic here, but I want to say that hardware stores are great places for unusual materials for crafts. I love hanging out in my local folksy HW/country store. The old guys there are always so helpful and they are so interested in what I am doing. They have saved me lots of times when I was making props!
I call this one "jukebox splendor"

05-05-2008, 10:53 PM
Wow, I like that one.

05-06-2008, 10:05 PM
VERY cool!

05-07-2008, 11:07 AM
Geez, you guys are killing me! May I join too please? I have been lurking for days and may as well take the jump!

05-07-2008, 03:29 PM
Of course lynn101!

05-11-2008, 09:38 PM
I got the idea that I wanted to do these cards out of scotch tape with lots of overlapping layers. I have a security card at work that has broken several times and instead of replacing it I keep taping it up and the pattern of tape, old and new is kind of neat. So I wanted to apply that. I didn't capture what I really wanted to but I ended up putting a ton of tape on a page of paper and then soaking the paper (mostly) off. I then just colored up some nature imagery with sharpies. I probably should have gone with a more abstract array of small images, but hey, live and learn. I hope these are up to the standards -- I'm terrible at evaluating such things.

I uh, can't post the image as a new user (grr!), but if you want to click through to it:

05-11-2008, 09:43 PM
Here's my latest, crocheted copper wire and then 'embroidered' with copperwire and beads.

Vicki Z
05-12-2008, 12:32 AM
Oh, Ibus, awesome card!
Is that electrical copper wire?

05-12-2008, 01:46 AM
I think so, I got a reel of it at the same place I got the diodes etc.

05-12-2008, 03:10 AM
My cards are done and in my gallery. They are stamped and embossed images on white (coffee cup) and black (food tray) styrofoam. Wow, what a process figuring out what worked and didn't work...alot of trial and error. The cards are thicker than paper ATCS but much lighter! Take a peek:

Vicki Z
05-12-2008, 07:24 AM
Your cards are really GREAT! What a wonderful way to recycle styrofoam! I like the way the syrofoam granuals give their own texture to the piece, particularly in the pottery one. Although I think I like the black ones the best, but then the middle one is soooo interesting. Oh, what the heck. I like them all.

05-12-2008, 12:22 PM
Wow, I love the black ones!

05-12-2008, 10:20 PM
i didn't realize the black one was styrofoam until i went back and re-read the post. those are amazing.

05-12-2008, 10:28 PM
My cards are done and in my gallery. They are stamped and embossed images on white (coffee cup) and black (food tray) styrofoam. Wow, what a process figuring out what worked and didn't work...alot of trial and error. The cards are thicker than paper ATCS but much lighter! Take a peek:
These are so amazing....recycling at its' very best...

05-13-2008, 03:35 PM
mrubyjean - very cool cards! and Ibus - very cool crocheted wire! I know an artist up here who does a lot of wire work and I have seen her crochet and knit jewelry with copper wire

05-13-2008, 10:23 PM
My cards were mailed today.

05-14-2008, 12:34 AM
Can i play please??????????????????

05-14-2008, 03:41 PM
My cards are going postal today Laura! I have uploaded the cards to my gallery for anyone who would like to take a look, I also included an extra for our hostess. :)
Thanks so much for hosting!

05-15-2008, 02:34 PM
I am having a problem....I don't have an address. Can someone send me a PM as I haven't received any response from Laura.

05-15-2008, 02:44 PM
Laura is in the hospital last I heard, but i'm sure someone has her address. just didn't want you to think she's MIA.

05-15-2008, 02:45 PM
Thanks Nicole.... hope she is mending well. Can someone who has her addres forward it to me? I am leaving on a trip and need to get these in the mail soooon!

05-16-2008, 07:36 AM
I have sent loralou's addy to zanylady.
Just so everyone knows this has been taken care of, so zanylady doesn't get a whole bunch of addy's filling up her mailbox!!!:D

05-16-2008, 02:17 PM
Thanks Vicki for sending that on. I was afraid I was going to have to drop out. I loved this swap. I made my cards out of Lutrador, paint and lace, added some sticking and seed and polymer beads. Off to package them and get them over to PO as we leave today on holiday.

05-16-2008, 02:17 PM
oops...that is I added some stitching!

05-17-2008, 12:47 PM
Hello everyone, I was discharged from the hospital today, sorry that people have been left without my address for a while, thanks to everyone who helped out with that.
Seeing some awesome work in the gallery for the swap!

05-17-2008, 01:56 PM
Here are my 'cards' - they are traction (fine) sand and acrylic, drawn on with metallic markers (Krylon) and painted with acrylics. I am sending them in a bubble-pack envelope for the long trip. They are in plastic sleeves, but oversized ones due to their thickness. (Tried for as thin as I could!)

05-17-2008, 02:04 PM
Stunning KaHeD!

05-17-2008, 05:58 PM
Oohh welcome anne, nearly missed you there love.

05-17-2008, 07:58 PM
Wow KHD, I love the pansy shell.

05-18-2008, 12:58 AM
ok I did reverse "painting" on Acyrlic

I used staz on ink and rubber stamped the image on one side, and "painted" on the back side with sharpies, and yes i did write the words "backwards" :)

05-18-2008, 02:39 AM
Mine are ready to go in the mail. I'll get them out on Monday! Thanks so much for hosting this swap, Laura!
I would show them to you all but my scanner is dead as a doorknob!
One is made from FLOAM, one from wood and one from dimensional paint.

05-18-2008, 04:20 AM
Sue that is well cool, I love it!
dmnh, I so look foward to meeting your cards!

05-18-2008, 04:52 PM
My cards are packed up and will be posted tomorrow. I sent the two copperwire ones and two pyrography ones on balsawood. As the wood is thicker than card, I cut them slightly smaller (widthwise) so they would still fit in a sleeve.
I had a lot of fun making them, but as I used a soldering iron, it took quite a bit of practice to draw and write with it!

05-18-2008, 05:13 PM
Sounds great Ibus! I look forward to their arrival. I should be getting loads of mail soon with lots of you recently sending.

05-20-2008, 07:00 AM
Loralou - I mailed my 'cards' yesterday - they are in a white bubblepack envelope with a proper customs sticker ($0 value, gift). I hope that they will make the journey safely. If they don't, or if one or two break, let me know and just swap for the remaining card(s). This was a creative adventure, fun to do anyway, and my sand concoction has never been tried for mailing!

05-20-2008, 08:32 AM
I hope they get here safely too!
I received 2 sets of cards today
mrubyjean - your syrofoam cards are sooo cool, I chose the darker one with the moon on it, thanks so much for including an extra, and for the postage!
Ibus - your wire cards are just about the most beautiful cards I ever saw! I chose the one with the flowers attached to the wire. Thanks so much for including an extra.

Gorgeous work so far, look forward to some more mail soon!

05-20-2008, 01:04 PM
Laura...i am so glad you are better. My cards will be going out on Weds...hopefully that still gives them time from the states. I keep making changes and I have school today. Sorry for squeaking in at the last minute.

05-20-2008, 01:28 PM
Not a problem! As long as know cards are on their way, I will wait for them :) (within reason)

05-20-2008, 04:55 PM
my cards are postal in the am :)

05-20-2008, 09:13 PM
Hi all...got my cards in the mail today so I hope they make it in time! What a fun swap!

05-21-2008, 04:29 PM
here's a scan of mine. they are created with diamond glaze and stickles so they are completely clear.

05-21-2008, 05:17 PM
Those are fabulous, Nicole! What are stickles?

05-21-2008, 05:20 PM
Stickles are kinda like glitter glue (but they don't really work as glue lol). They are kinda like puffy paints, but all glitter (which i looooove).:D:D

05-21-2008, 05:54 PM
Here are my cards....I am on the way to send them postal... There is an extra one for your Laura...thank you for hosting!!! Oh, they are embossed metal

05-21-2008, 08:36 PM
Mine are ready - if I can decide which to send? I got carried away and made 6! (I will welcome feedback on which are the most unusual, please!) I will send one for the hostess too. I do need an addy, Laura!

The cards are friendly plastic on CD (shown above), cord woven on metal mesh, window screening and iron-on tape, more iron-on tape and patch, embossed leather, and embossed cork.

05-21-2008, 08:42 PM
I like the window-screening; embossed leather and embossed cork.

05-22-2008, 12:45 AM
Wow...I can't wait to see the returns on this swap. All the cards posted are so amazing and different. Thanks

05-22-2008, 03:26 AM
I am mailing the atcs on May 22,2008. Hope you haven't changed addresses again, as I am using the one I have on File.

05-22-2008, 04:53 AM
I moved a year ago now, but people do store very old addresses
If the house number is 33 you are right!

Everyone such good cards! Sometomato I will PM you my address.

05-22-2008, 09:37 AM
It looks like I didn't post to the thread about it (or I may just be missing it now), but my cards are on the way to you as of a few days ago. Hope you enjoy! I packed ina bunch of mediums--craft felt, friendly plastic, embroidery, and fabric flowers...

05-22-2008, 11:03 AM

05-31-2008, 05:56 AM
I forgot to say, for anyone who receives my acrylic card. If you store them in a binder Back-to-back, then you might want to slip a piece of white paper behind the acrylic card.

06-02-2008, 03:28 AM
I've scanned and photo'ed my cards for this swap but forgot to bring them to the internet cafe with me (got paid today so can surf at long bloody last!)- they didn't come out too well and you'll see why when you receive them Loralou :) I won't spoil the surprise yet but I haven't seen any other cards made with this media :D

06-02-2008, 08:39 AM

06-07-2008, 03:07 AM
I think boatbird won the pride for the most 'unusual' material.
