If you think 3 heads are better than one when it comes to making ATCs this is the place for you.

We are a fun group of ATC makers who like to spread the making of ATCs around to more than one person.

Here is how to get started……………..

First you sign up in the thread and tell us what themes you do not want so I can add your name to the list in the 1st post.

Next you PM your mailing address and any dislikes to me so I can add it to the address list. I will update this list as players come and go or change their status.

If you wish to take a break from playing at any time all you need to do is post in the thread and send me a pm. I will move you to the HOMERS ONLY section of the address list until you ask me to change it. This way you will still get any you have started that have been completed by others but you should not get any new ones. If you do get new ones, please let me know in a pm.

And here is how a Round Robin works…………

Player 1 starts it off by starting 3 cards. These cards need to be more than a preprinted background. Please put something on them. On the back please put ATCS FOR ALL RANDOM ROUND ROBIN or AFA RANDOM RR at the top (so we know where it came from as there are 2 round robin groups) along with at least your user name. Mail all 3 cards to Player 2.

Player 2 will work on the cards. Add at least your user name to the back. Mail all 3 cards to Player 3.

Player 3 will finish the cards. Add at least your user name to the back. Keep 1 card and mail the other 2 back to Player 1.

Player 1 will keep 1 card and mail the other one to Player 2.

VERY IMPORTANT ~ Please note you must look at the first post before sending cards to anyone to make sure they are still playing.

EQUALLY IMPORTANT ~ Please check what cards a player DOES NOT WANT. Do not send unwanted themes to anyone as they must pay to send them on to someone else .

If you get a set of cards and you have no idea what to do with them, just send them on to someone else.

Part of the fun of being in a Round Robin is seeing who is doing what so when you receive a Round Robin and when you mail them out please try and remember to post here. Although there will be no Round Robin Police sent to visit if you don't! And you never have to say who you are sending to unless you want to.

Feel free to post eye candy whenever you want.

And last but not least…………

iTraders are fun to give and get so please remember them. Once you have a completed card you can give them to both the other players.

Great cards everyone!

I need to start on the ones I have. I've been mulling over ideas. And I have ideas for starters. I just need an assistant to do everything else in my life so I can just create.

MaryAnn will update the list soon, but just wanted to say, please don't send anything else to my US address as I am leaving tomorrow! I have one more set of starters I haven't worked on, and probably won't until after I am home (we have 4 days with my brother & SIL in Arizona and their new baby, so I don't see much crafting there). I'm sure I will get to them before too long after I get back, though... JAD - those two sets look great - I'll look forward to getting them back and seeing them in person!

I have received cards from Lafaver55 and 2 sets from Kentuckydakota. Plus I still have 2 more. Finished 2 sets last night. I will post them soon - right now I am sitting outside with my dog as we enjoy our last indolent day of summer before school starts tomorrow. I am going to ask to be put on homers for the month of September, until I'm back onto a normal schedule again. I would really like that secretary to help me! Wouldn't it be wonderful to just do art, and then pass it off to someone else to mat or package up & mail? Off to pm xstitcher!

Ok, these first cards are done and headed home. They are Lafaver55, KentuckyDakota, and me.

The second set are the Clue cards which are KentuckyDakota, me, and need a third player.

Thanks. I was kind of stumped on both, but when I started going through clip art, they came together. I'm really in love with the black circle trim on the finished set. Was that yours or Charisse's? Because I might need some of that stuff.

That was mine and I got it at Joanne's fabrics but it was like 100 years ago. It was labeled for decorating lamps, jeans and purses. I've used it on just everything. Hopefully they still have it.

Just to say that I received one last homer at my mother's house before I left yesterday - it is packed in my luggage somewhere, not sure quite where at the moment and annoyingly, I can't remember who it was from as we were heading out the door and I kind of just glanced at it and then threw it in my bag. I'll sort it out later! Anyway, other than that one, anything sent to Maryland won't get to me until later - my mother can forward any late arrivals, but hopefully there won't be anything else...

An update has been sent! As usual MissCarrymary and SilverSeam did not get it!

removed US address for katlenorth and moved ineedtocreate to homers only for awhile.

I have a few sets of cards I need to work on, a homer I need to send on to the 2nd player and a couple of iTraders to give out I think. Hope to get to it all soon but that silly thing called real life is calling my name right now.....that and a dryer full of clothes I need to fold....................

Happy arting (if that's really a word) everyone!

Big Toe....I buy the cheap shaving cream at the dollar store. Spray into big pan(or recently I saw how they sprayed it onto the BACK of a foam plate)and drop some re-inkers on top. Swirl colors with a pick...like for very curly hair(dollar tree has those too). Lay paper on top and lift. Scrape off excess cream with spatula or similar and let dry.

Lotsa mail this week. homers from x-stitcher and LauraM540, Ceejay and LauraM540, Maggie and LauraM540....thanks Laura for sending all the seconds home for me! Got the Clue set from CynthiaS...have an idea, now to see if I can do it. Starters from CynthiaS also arrived before... that I have a plan for and will send them along with StoneFX's marbled background.

Hot and muggy here in San Diego...ugh....stay cool and happy arting over the long holiday weekend all...

Okay, the last of the envelopes opened and sorted - and I have lovely finished cards from CeeJay/me/theatrerachel, JAD/me/prayeratnight and kentuckydakota/me/nancy. I also have two sets of starters from angelmuz to add to my pile of things to be worked on. Looking forward to tackling that pile in the next few days. In the meantime, I think I'm caught up on all my iTraders, but if you are missing one from me for a card I've definitely mentioned in the forum, let me know - I can't promise my brain is totally functioning yet after all that travelling!

I've been amazed by those shaving cream backgrounds, too. It looks like it's a high gloss paper? It amazes me that they don't curl. Are they just kind of picking up color without absorbing a lot?

Bah. Been on hols for a week (with very limited internet access) but am back now and was surprised to see no updates on the RRR thread in my subscriptions... then I checked the thread and realised we'd rolled to a new thread!

I've got a bit of a backlog of cards to get sorted but am planning to get them finished and sent out within the next week or two (bit of a crazy week ahead as DD1 is starting full-time school - with a staggered start where she does a morning on one day, an afternoon the next day, then goes onto full days - and we're also hoping to complete on the sale of our old house on Friday! Eep!

Anyhoo... just to keep you all up to date, the cards I currently have are:

Watercolour background with leaf stamping by Big Toe Studio and Ferretgirl
Patterned paper and die-cuts cards by Angelmuz and mzspurslasso
Two sets of altered playing cards by Castlequeen5
Pink and patterned paper background by Kentuckydakota
Newspaper and hand drawn/coloured card by ineedtocreate and Kentuckdakota

I think I also need to leave some itraders... am I right in thinking that for each completed set of RRR cards I take part in I need to leave itrader for the other two participants?

Years ago, there was a fake Saturday Night Live commercial for a service I really want. It was a company where if you forgot to mail something, they'd take the blame. Like they'd put an old postmark and a few different "returned to" arrows and distress the box. I thought that was a swell idea.

I have some cards to work on and some homers to send to players.

I hope to find some time this weekend to work on them.

I plan to send an update to the list soon so if anyone has anything they want added, changed, moved or removed now would be a good time to let me know.

Hey Ali,

I have a shoebox with my art stuff goes that I keep the envelopes holding the ATC's I need to work on. After I work on them I have 2 tacs holding up a plastic thing that i put the to go out cards in. I wasn't as organized in OHIO. MaryAnn remembers me stressing over the fact that I couldn't find the cards I completed. LOL so i know how ya feel.

OKAY open question to the forum. A few times I've received all 3 cards back after they were finished. Ones I started. Is that the protocol? Or does the 3rd person send the other 2 the cards (that's what I've been doing).

kentuckydakota
09-06-2013, 05:52 PM
I'm guessing that was a mistake. The third player should keep theirs and send you the other two.

lindagiese
09-06-2013, 06:04 PM
As I understand it the 3rd person only sends two to the starter. That leaves an empty space I sometimes fill with a 3rd card...a RAK. Not always, mind you...just sometimes. If I am 3rd and mess something up, that is the card I keep. It has happened a few times.

Received two nice RR envelopes today - one some homers back from prayer at night (on a French text background); the other one chock full of three things - the Henry VIII homers, which I love, a card I worked on second and another set for me to finish up (lindagiese/cynthiasillitoe). Lots of fun stuff!

Also I have 1 set I have been pondering on over a week and just can't think of anything to put on the card. (I only draw I don't have collage materials) and can't find room or think of anything to draw on it. Do I just send it on to someone else?

Mace, your addition to the black crow card looks great - looking forward to seeing those come home :)

Got a nice envie myself today, from JAD - three different things. A set to finish from castlequeen/JAD and two sets of homers, both oriental (though neither starter was specifically oriental) - and both great - one with koi (me/tandy/JAD) and one with Japanese kanji and ladies (me/bigtoestudio/JAD). Looking forward to working on some more cards soon!

Ooh, expect an envelope of stuff from me, too. I have more than I'll ever use. Collage is a very forgiving medium and also a nice balance to drawing. I kind of alternate between the two so I don't burn out on either.

Homers are finished cards. The "homers only" list is people you should only send finished cards (that they either started or worked on) to and not new stuff. Envie is envelope. Addy is address. Or snail addy is mail address. What else?

Collage is fun... you can use anything and just play about with it. You can even print out clip-art/graphics etc and use those or snip pictures from magazines and catalogues.

There's a good blog that posts loads of free-to-use vintagey images that can be good for collage - it's called the Graphics Fairy: http://thegraphicsfairy.com/

The best way to do it, Mace, is just to give it a try :) I will also send you some collage stuff, in the envelope when I send a set of starters - but I see collage stuff everywhere in the world - magazines, obviously, but also, printed bags from shops, junk mail, wrappers from food products - you can collage anything your imagination will stretch to!

I'm a terrible magpie like this... Okay, I've been a bit productive. Finished sets are headed to MissCarryMary, Nicky, Nancy & KentuckyDakota. I was participant # 2 in two sets that are going to Theaterrachel, also. I am posting one ATC (they are all the same) that was done by MissCarryMary/Nicky/me; the other set is by Nancy/KentuckyDakota/me. I hope it is not a big deal that I am only posting one each of the ATCs? I wasn't that motivated to scan them all (sorry). I ran out of ink on my printer so will get some more today & hopefully have several more sets out to people. It feels really good to have finished product!! MACE...check out the insides of business envelopes...can cut strips or punch out shapes. Finding sets of 3 images is sometimes challenging...but with a piece of patterned paper you can easily get 3 of a kind. You can print out a sheet of your own sayings from the computer and have 3 matching. With a collage i often look for the color scheme and subject matter to start. And ribbons go a long way on such small surfaces.

happily seeing lots of cards I love and a few are even coming my way...yay!!!

Oh, and Mace, I've got an envelope of collage stash for you. All of this stuff could be collaged using just a glue stick, which I think is the easiest (and least expensive) way to start. I keep wishing I had handouts from collage classes to send you. (Linda, do you have any?) Um...arrange stuff on cards and don't glue anything until you like it. Also, if you don't like a result, don't despair. You can add more and collage over mistakes. Feel free to ask questions. Also, remember that you can draw on another paper or cardstock and then collage that on. Hope that helps.

My apologies to all.

I am worried about some of my baby cards that are not back yet so I want to let everyone know what I have to work.

Right now I am looking at 9 sets to complete!

To make it quicker I am only going to list the starter even though on some I will be the 3rd person. If you want to pm me I will go into more detail when I have a bit longr.

I have at least one set of cards started by the following players.......angelmuz, CastleQueen5, katelnorth, kentuckydakota, LauraM540, lindagiese and Nancy.

I have ideas for many of them and I hope to find time soon to find the patterns and stitch them.

Also have a couple of completed babies to send back to the 2nd person that worked on them.

Again I am sorry, somehow things have gotten out of control AGAIN and I am getting lost with everything I have to do.

It does not help that we are redoing the floor in the room most of my stitching stuff is in so it is a major project just trying to find anything.

You know, every year on Sept. 11 I'm shocked to hear how long it's ago now. I mean, it's been 12 years this year, and I was only 11 when it happened - you would think I should be used to it by now. But I still can't look any of the documentaries without crying.

You all remember what you were doing that day, right?
I know that I was doing my maths homework when my mom called for me - I thought my grandma had died, she sounded so strange. My dad had called her and told her to turn the TV on. And then we spent the rest of the day staring at these totally unreal pictures. It was the strangest thing - although it all happened at the other end of the world and we definitely didn't know any of the people in danger, we were terrified and crying all the time.

kentuckydakota
09-14-2013, 04:24 PM
I remember that day pretty vividly. My sister called from Canada and said "Turn on the TV the US is under attack." It was a horrible feeling hearing those words and even worse seeing the videos over and over.
My husband was a military chaplain and was sent to Dover to help families view and identify their loved ones who were killed in the pentagon. So tragic!

I asked my son this year on the anniversary if they had a moment of silence at school for it or mentioned it in any way and he said no. No one mentioned it. That's pretty sad. How quickly we forget.

Yes, that is sad - we mustn't forget things like this!
I know that exactly one year after the attack, there was supposed to be a collective minute of silence at 11 o'clock, if I'm not mistaken. We had heard about it and wanted to do it, too, so we asked the teacher we had then if we could, and he refused to give us this one minute... but when we heard the church bells ring (my old school was a monastery, so we had a church right next to us), we just all refused to talk to the teacher for a minute. Bloody man was furious, but we had our minute. :policeman:
And really, considering how they kept banging us over the head with the Nazi story (another thing nobody in this world is ever allowed to forget!), I was really disappointed that we weren't supposed to remember a terror act that happened only a year ago - wasn't that what they wanted to teach us, to be aware of the things happening to our world?

And oh, what a horrible but very necessary job your husband had there! I can only imagine how much the families needed a support like him. :(

MACE
09-14-2013, 06:48 PM
The minute of silence is actually at 0856 am EST. The time the first plane hit tower 1. Yes prayer, I remember exactly what I was doing. I was working medical records at the Cleveland Clinic. Someone wheeled in a television. At that moment I knew they were going to hit the Pentagon. I come from a military family and we just think that way.

Anyways on to more cheerful topics. Who wants the 911 cards :)

What a nice surprise to find in my mailbox today. I received materials from "A.J.", Alipeeps, and Linda4ATC. They were filled with wonderful goodies. I took a small shoebox and started my collection :)

I was very surprised to find pages from an oriental book. This was very cool because I lived for 3 years in Misawa, Japan when I was in the USAF in the 1980's. I used the paper and some beautiful butterflies to make my first "collage" ATC. I hope I did it right. I read the pages you guys directed me to, so I put a lot of thought into it. I remember the gorgeous butterflies flying all over the cherry blossom trees when I lived there, so I thought they went well together. I also used them to finish another card.

Would anyone like to be number 2 on the japanese butterfly card?

Oohh MACE, your first collaged cards are looking gorgeous! Great start!

I too clearly remember where I was when 911 happened. I was at work (in a law firm) when someone said a plane had hit the World Trade Centre. I initially thought it was a light aircraft and an accident... then more and more details came through. All work pretty much stopped as everyone watched events develop. I remember the news websites pretty much all crashed as so many people were trying to log on to see what was happening. I remember my supervisor running from the room in tears when the first tower fell - she had a friend whose husband was a NYC firefighter. :/

MACE, the last updated list was sent on Aug. 27. If you don't have that one, I can forward it to you.
And I'd love to work on your Japanese butterflies! They're lovely. :wubclub:
I have a set of starters and a few collage items all packed up for you. ;)
Oh, and I guess we didn't do the same minute of silence, then... that would have been almost 3 PM here, and I'm sure I wasn't in school at that time.

Oh man, it always touches me to hear what others were doing when they found out - it must be a lot worse if you know someone who is directly involved. Do you know if the firefighter husband was hurt, Ali?

Re: 911....my daughter's 30th birthday. We were still in bed asleep and my best friend called me and woke us up and told us to turn on the TV. I remember feeling so upset and wondering how to cope, how to feel, what to do and generally confused as to what my mind was trying to comprehend. We traveled internationally the next January and I was touched by the condolences from people across the world.

Mace...did you get my big envelope?

Cynthiasillitoe....got the fabric cards and have an idea how to finish. I have 5 sets to work on, but spent all day yesterday making a Spirit doll on matboard with a tin behind the hanging as seen in the latest cloth paper scissors magazine. Turned out great!

I don't really want the 9/11 cards, as I'm not sure I could do justice to them. But I do have a 9/11 story. Although I have lived in the UK for 20+ years, I grew up outside Washington, DC, and as luck would have it, we were in the US, visiting family at the time of 9/11. We were driving on the BW parkway, on the way to go to the Zoo, with two quite small kids, when it all started. I remember listening to the radio and watching the other drivers gradually tuning in to the news. Luckily, my friend who we were meeting at the zoo (which closed, soon after we arrived) lived in Adams Morgan at the time, so we all went back to her apartment and hung out there watching CNN. In later years, I was always glad to be in the US, in the DC area, in real time while it was happening, as I have a lot of ties to the area.

this one added Hely to homers only

the last one added angelmuz and me to homers only and removed Pink Zombie from the list completely.

Also I would like to track down my babies that are still out. I have a way to display them as a set and some are not home yet. Just wondering if they are lost in the vast wilderness of the postal system and I need to send another one or if they are waiting to be worked on somewhere as many I have are.
