Welcome to the January 2014 RAK Attack!

A RAK is a Random Act of Kindness, and a RAK Attack is this group of participants mailing some sort of surprise to a ‘victim’ who is selected by nominations through private messages sent by you. Please try to send the name/user name of the ATCsforALL member and their address (if available) when you sign up. (Please one nominee, per person.)


This is not a popularity contest it is simply our small way of spreading cheer in our little community. This particular RAK is intended for members of ATCsforALL. If you have friends in need of a RAK feel free to open a new thread and let us know, there's always someone to step up and contribute.


One person per month, not the same person in a year. A list is maintained to assure no repeats. If you nominate someone who is ineligible I will send you a private message to send in alternate nominations. The RAK host (me) cannot be RAKed.


Who to nominate and why?


Any member who is going through a rough time and could use a smile, who has been especially helpful or accommodating, the victim does not have to be a participant in the monthly RAK, just any member of ATCsforALL.


What to Send On a RAK Attack


Anything Goes: ATCs, Arty bits, cards, Handwritten written wishes on handmade or pretty stationary, Envies, Handmade stationary for gift, Candy, cookies, Stickers, Books, Artwork, Encouraging words, Poetry, favorite quotes. You decide what to send based on how much time you have and what your budget is, look to the supplies you already have and all it will cost you is a stamp.


How Do I participate?:


1. Post in this thread to sign up


2. PM me one member nomination and their address, if you have this info, it is extremely helpful. This information is always kept secret from the participants so do not ask. (If you don't have anyone to nominate, that's OK, you can still play!)


3. I will PM you all with the address of the RAK recipient.


Expect to see this info around the 30 of December. You can only receive this information from the host (me) so please do not ask others.


This is a surprise! Please do not tell the RAK recipient-let them find out in the mail.


Please PM me if you have any questions.


Remember, the RAK is to bring a smile to somebody and show them we care.

Okay...something very strange is going on here. I kust got back from a funeral of a dear friend way up in Georgia...I have a bunch of mail....I won't open my mail till I am at my computer so I won't do it till morning. I think that Carole lied to me..... I won't say anything more till the mornih and I can't type on this little phone.....but I think someone has misrepresented the truth.........hmmmmmmmm...somethings fishy in Florida...........

I have to admit... You guys got me good! I'm pretty close to Maria, and Carole had pm'ed me that Maria was the Rak "victim" this month and she was feeling down... I was worried as I figured Maria was the kind of person NOT to burden you with her troubles- she would hold it in and hold it in, unlike me who projectile vomits them at everyone and gets it out of my system. I pm'ed her a couple of times asking her how she was feeling, etc. trying to get her to open up to me... (and, NOW, I am sure she knew WHY I was asking such asinine, open ended questions...)

I was very confused at first.... The day before I left for Georgia, I got a bunch of envies (5 or 6) from MariaP. Now, none were marked January RAK, and she sent me an ATC or something in each, a couple of them said, January RAK on the back of the ATC. I'm thinking, after sending Maria, who I am worried about, me the RN, knowing that people who hold emotions in like that are more prone to (Nancy, my friend, great example) drug addiction, suicide, etc... Anyway, I am sending Maria, an envie a day, filled with 2 ozs (max fill for international stamp to Canada) of all kinds of crappola. So, I figure, keep it on the downlow as they must have told her I was the Rak "victim" for this month and they wanted to throw her off.

Low and behold!

I come home from Georgia and I have ALL THIS HAPPY MAIL!!! Lots from the athon but enough marked January RAK, that I FINALLY figured out it wasn't Maria that was getting "thrown off the scent", it was ME!!!! You guys are just too good! I opened all this up and I am just boo-hooing and amazed at all the love here! I don't know what to say, except you got me GOOD! I will be back once I compose myself and get it together!

Oh, and Gaialuv, you cracked me up... after I text'd on my phone my "suspicions", you did EXACTLY what I would have done!!! You were all tickled & excited that y'all got me and tee-hee'ing and then after you posted that it was like, whoops she just came from a funeral, better send sympathy! That is soooo ME!!!!! I had to laugh as it is a perfect example of what I would do! You are too funny! (and sweet!)

And here I have been sending letters to Maria P everyday asking her if she likes being a rak attack victim! ... Maria, it is a great feeling!!! lol

TeeHee, I purposely did not write January RAK on the outside of the envie (just on the back of the ATCs) and I ran to the post office first thing Jan 2 cus I wanted to get them to you before anybody else did! YAY, we succeeded! :jiggy:
BTW, you will continue to get daily envie from me for the entire month!

You guys are so sweet... lots more love in the mail today.... and it has been a hard week, as you-know-who is on vacation ALL this week, and between making the trip up to Georgia... 8 hours there and 8 hours back, just him and me in the car...ugh.... and all day long in the house, it has not been easy. I took benadryl and put myself to sleep for 2 days and faked a migraine. So the love in the mail was right on time!!!

I am making a special Thank You card to send out to y'all, not a store bought one... I just cut all the paper today & got the envies.... this is going to be soooo much fun. A little time consuming, but y'all are so worth it!!!!!!!

OMG!!!!! Today I got 2 envies from Maria (and a bunch of others, but I have to tell you this stat!!) She has been sending the same gold tone envies with a big label with my name and addy printed on it.... All the same, all alike, all the same same, return addy label, etc.

It was opened by the Department of Homeland Security!!!!! US Customs and Border Patrol!!!!!! :biglaugh: Is Maria a terrorist??? Is she sending me drugs??? What was in that envie!!! They cut the side of the envie open and then taped it shut with their green special tape that has their name on it and says opened by US Customs & Border Patrol Department of Homeland Security WITH the SEAL of the Department of Homeland Security!!!!

And inside was another little envie with a SINGLE ATC that reads "You know it is a good day, when I didn't have to unleash the flying monkeys!"


WE ARE NOW SAFE FROM THE MARIA THREAT!!!!!!!!

The more I think about it, it is kinda freaky! I was using printed out mailing labels b/c it was easier than handwriting 31 envelopes, and kept the envelopes non-descript to keep Cathy wondering!

I'm not sure Carole. Perhaps because I'm using the exact same envelopes and mailing labels, going to the same person, maybe they thought there were narcotics???? I checked out the DHS website, and they screen for a whole variety of things that apparently can be mailed. Maybe identical envelopes of a period of several days got flagged? DHS has the right to open any mail coming in to the US from a foreign country.


That being, Toni, I don't' think I want to mess around with homeland security that way! LOL
