hi all.
you may know that i'll be moving across the US (Pennsylvania to Oregon) in July 2008.
what you probably don't know is i have a bad habit of buying old books to use in collages. i have over 50 books i tear up!
everything from old dictionaries to old school texts to novels to poems to weird reference books [women and sexuality, mobile home repair & maintenance, electricians manual, etc.].
All of it is in varying degrees of yellowed, aged fabulosity. Some of it is foreign--all of it is wonderful. but, i can't justify shlepping it across the continental US.
I need to pare back & I'd love to share--but I don't have the $$$ to send dozens of envelopes out everywhere.
If you want some, and are in the US, send me a 6x9 or larger inch SASE with at least 97 cents on it, and i'll stuff it with really awesome stuff! A nice variety.

I figured this out:
If anyone goes to www.usps.com and looks up "international postage," and enters MY zipcode [15106] as the point of shipment, and their own country as where it's being sent, you can see how much $ it will cost to ship how many ounces of book pages. For example, artists in canada can get a little over a pound [18 ounces] of book pages for $5.00 US. And, artists in Australia can request 7 ounces for $6.30 US in postage.
PM me for my address if you're interested! I am TOTALLY willing to do the paypal thing. :D I've already done it for someone, and it worked great!
[In the US, the 97 cents is the actual shipping cost. i'm not asking for payment. also--to be honest--if you want to slap up to 4.85 on an envie, which is the cost of a flat rate letter sent Priority Mail, I'll fill that envelope to the brim!]

Oh, and yet another goodie offer I miss out on. I need to either move to the US, and help ATCs really take off in Australia! :)

Maybe Paypal could be of use in this instance? Sorry for butting in, just trying to help! :)
I'd happily pay, if someone is prepared to find out how much an envelope to the UK would cost.

We so need to have a big Washington/Oregon meetup after Ms. Amy finishes relocating! There are so many of us nearby...although not many in Eastern Washington...but I love to drive so I would make the commute to the coast somewhere...
This is a great offer, Amy you sweetie...I'll PM you.

Holy Mackrel!
I just got back from picking up my mail and will be scheduling hernia surgery soon because my envelope was so heavy! We're talking pounds people... a great value for my $4.80 Priority stamp! Thank you amyfaerie for the countless creative possibilities that will result from sharing your old books. Now I'm off to sort through my booty. :~]
