FOODIE FANATICS MOLEY GROUP: All themes are free game, as long as they involve food &/or anything foodie inspired.
we will be following the atcsforall rules - as follows
REQUIREMENTS
Because these type of swaps require a huge, very long-term commitment of time and resources, and because it is absolutely heartbreaking when a journal goes missing (unfortunately, it happens), there are special requirements for participation in a swap of this type.
You must:
* Be an actively trading AFA member (defined as: positive iTrader across 2 swaps in the last 3 months)
* Have 3+ months in good standing (no neutrals or negative iTraders)
* Have an iTrader rating of 25+
* Be willing and able to do your very best work on a strict, inflexible time line, over a long period
* Be willing and able to complete the set number of journal pages in the themes chosen by your fellow participants depending on the journal group guidelines
* Have the cash resources necessary to ship the journals around the world using First Class or Airmail. Tracking is not mandatory, but could be suggested
Additional Requirements for the Hosts:
* Have completed hosting (5) swaps before hosting a circle journal swap. This is to give our Hosts the additional experience needed to handle a swap this long in duration
* It is the Host's responsibility to get complete contact information for each member (real name, street address, mailing address if different, telephone numbers, email, etc.) And to PM this information to all members of the group.
* It is the Host's responsibility to PM members who seem to be lagging behind in posting weekly and/or completing and mailing pages. If Hosts do not keep up with the members of their swap, AFA staff will assist.
* If a player gets behind and the circle members are uncomfortable about leaving a negative iTrader, the Host shall, after notification to AFA staff of their intent, leave a negative iTrader for the delinquint player upon approval from AFA staff provided that the player:
- has not responded to PM's from the Host despite logging in at AFA
- has not posted to the thread for (2) weeks
Note: AFA members of iATCs can use their iATC stats to fulfill these requirements.
Limited sign ups for first-time participants. Individuals new to circle journals and book journal swaps at ATCsforALL.com can only sign up for one journal group initially. After the successful completion of their group, they are welcome to sign up for multiple groups but must check with a Moderator before signing up for more than three (3).
iTrader for players removed from a Moley group:
-If someone worked in a player's moley, and the player DIDN'T do theirs, they should receive a Negative until they mail pages, the rating will then be changed to a Neutral.
-If a player holds up a moley for more than 2 weeks past the mail out dead line, the owner can give neutral at their discretion.
now for the fun part
we will be using the Japanese Moleskine accordion style pocket album. Approximate size is 3.5" x 5.5". Available at Amazon.com...http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/8883701046/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?qid=1420591787&sr=8-1&pi=AC_SX200_QL40
& also at http://moleskine.com/us & most anywhere else that sells books/art supplies.
Pick your foodie inspired theme!
Decorate the covers or wait till your book comes home
some like to wait to protect the covers from damage - some like to establish theme, palette, and mood by doing their cover before.
on the front inside cover please put your name, address and phone number in case your book is lost in the mail
also either in the front or the back inside covers put
1. your username
2. your assigned "travel-plan"
3. a sign-in area for artists
4. any special instructions
5. also decorate the first three pages (the fold out ones) in your theme
this will leave 27 pages for the other nine artist to each do three pages in your book.
Allow plenty of time for drying before shipping. Wax paper between pages is a must in the summer heat!!! Please mail moleys in a ziplock type bag & use a bubble mailer to protect them!
Be sure to communicate regularly via email, PM, and in this thread
When ever you rec or send a book - include tracking numbers. They are required in case a book goes missing.
There has been issues with journals piling up with one player who is unable to keep up due to Life - please let us know - everyone understands and there are ways we can work around that if you find yourself with this issue. So please talk to me and we will come up with a way for you to finish and the books keep on moving. Communication is Key!
mail these journals at the post office personally. Don't want to chance them getting taken from the mail boxes plus that way you can be sure to get a tracking number.
you will do a 3 page spread in each book you rec. please be care of the the pages you are next too and keep your art to your 3 pages (unless otherwise noted by the owner) - post it's work nicely to keep the pages ahead and behind your art clean
***A special thank you to goat goddess & Nicky for allowing me to borrow their moley rules posts :) ***

Travel Plans:
Please note that the order of mailing will differ for each journal. Yes, this is absolutely more confusing than mailing to the same artist after each round of creating. The reasons behind jostling the order of mailing are (1) To keep the swap lively and challenging, by changing the person you're "working toward" in each round; and (2) To balance shipping costs across all participants.

Participants & Themes:
1. TF Balding---Theme: "In the Kingdom of the Sugar Shock Princess..." A panoramic tour of a bright & vivid realm of sweets & it's inhabitants.
Do: Create a section of this imaginary kingdom made of sweets & show us the flora, fauna &/or people who live in there. & to make each page & scenery flow into the next, please let your art spill over just a bit into the next section so the next artist can add to your section by blending it into their own, & creating an unbroken view of the realm.
Don't: Use heavy/bulky embellishments or unaltered magazine pictures or stickers as your main focal point.
2. Grrrdjules---3 panels in a row, no carrying over onto next. Illustrate/collage a recipe. Lots of examples of recipes in the gallery. No legumes, desserts or tofu!
3. CharlieBrown---Theme: arty/illustrated recipes. The theme of the recipes should be anything "food truck" related. It can be any type of recipe you might be able to enjoy from a food truck, which is essentially anything. A source for inspiration is http://www.theydrawandcook.com
Each person's spread does not need to merge into the next, but each persons spread needs to include a recipe. It's ok to keep it simple OR not when it comes to picking your foodie truck grub recipe. Keep in mind your space needed for recipe text. Neatly handwritten is fine, so are typed-out and securely collaged ones- you make the call on how you get it on there, just plan it out. You can do just the illustrated recipe or you can be imaginative with your recipe and include your food truck, truck foodies/fans, and surrounding city happenings. Any questions, let me know.
4. Linda4atc---Theme: "Steampunk Village Feast" A panoramic view of the town and it's inhabitants during this festival of good eats.
Do: Create a section of this industrial gadget strewn town as the smartly dressed (steampunk) people prepare the feast. It is a happy festive occasion so there is no need for the typical monochromatic browns or grays of some steampunk art. Doing a slight overlap of pages is optional. But if you wish to use a version of an element from another page, such as a pipe in a wall, a tree, a bike or a gadget, in your page that is fine. Often towns will have similar aspects in more than one location..
Don't: Use heavy/bulky embellishments or unaltered magazine pictures or stickers as your main focal point.
5. Kynara---Theme: "Outer Space Pot Luck" Set on a spaceship and all the different aliens have brought entrees, desserts, h'ordeuvres and/or drinks from their planet to share.
Do: feel free to make each page or set of pages from a different part/room of the ship. also, feel free to get as crazy, colorful and creative as you like!
Don't: run the pages together. You can continue the room if you'd like, but I'd like to keep it where the next person can do a separate room of the spaceship if their muse tells them too.
Please don't use heavy/bulky embellishments or unaltered magazine pictures or stickers.
*If you want to include a bit of a story about your pages on the backside that'd be great! however I don't want anyone to feel stressed/pressured to do this
6. Mrs.Alderman---Theme: My theme is "Forest of food!" this book should be full of edible flowers, berries, herbs and fruit trees being tended by Fae! such as Fairies, antlered folk, gnomes and whatever else you may think to live in a forest. maybe a river mermaid?
no stickers or un-altered collage elements as focal points. if you use bulky things please make sure they are well protected in shipping and wont rip anything.
7. KentuckyDakota---Theme: Food in Children's Literature.
Here are some ideas to get the juices flowing: You could go with a scene like Edmund and the Queen enjoying Turkish delight, or Lucy taking tea with Mr. Tumnus in The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe. Perhaps Harry and Ron eating Pumpkin Pasties and Chocolate Frogs on the Hogwarts Express. Or the banquet in The Phantom Tollbooth where everyone has to eat their words. Of course there's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, James and the Giant Peach, Hansel and Gretel, The Tale of Peter Rabbit all with food themes, and so many more.
I love hd/hp, though no rule on that if it's not a strength. Would love all the spreads to flow together as much as possible. I prefer no tip-ins.
8. Angelmuz---Theme: Time Traveling Teddy Bears Picnic. So for my theme I would like folks to use the little dolls and animals on this page http://rinabears.com/index.php?PID=1 as the focus of the book and put them in various places and/or times. These are very tiny little animals and dolls so for example one might put them in a watermelon boat floating on the Seine with the Eiffel tower in the background . Feel free to use any number of the little darlings in your drawing. I don't really care that they be sitting down at a meal, they can be riding on birds munching crackers, or flying in a mini balloon over Africa with a glass of wine in hand. Basically for rules then, use at least two of the dolls/animals mentioned above in your spread (can use more) and make sure food is used in the picture.
If you wish to do mixed media (as I love to do) feel free. Hand drawn is fantastic. And a bit of collage is OK as well. Basically the same old rules everyone else has listed. Hopefully it will be a fairly wide open enjoyable theme for all you amazingly talented ladies.
9. Waffle---Theme: Cupcakes and Tea - For this swap please make a scene with a table set for high tea with cupcakes being served as the main pastry. There can be other pastries and foods but the centerpiece should be a large cupcake or a grouping of smaller cupcakes. It can be any flavor mix you want, real or made up. You can use any medium you want, hand drawn, mixed media, etc.
The table can be far away or close up, set for one person or many guests, there can be people or animals enjoying tea, or the table can be lonely with no guests yet. The setting can be fantasy, vintage, modern times, etc. - it's up to you. At a minimum there needs to be an obvious cupcake and a teacup.
10. Theweavershand---Theme: I'd like my theme to be Vintage 50s and 60s magazine food ads. I'd like the entire journal to have the feel of something out of a women's magazine from the 50s or 60s. It should feature the quintessential 50s housewife who wore high heels and pearls to clean the oven, etc. or be set in one of those fabulously retro kitchens with the turquoise appliances and "Leave it to Beaver" families. Each spread should be an advertisement for a food item of the era and since a lot of those ads featured recipes using the products, it would be great to incorporate that as well.

I have a few questions...
#1 may I join please?
#2 what specific book do we need to order? the link doesn't work, it takes you to the moleskin website, but not to a specific book... (it says "oh no that page got lost")
#3 what media is allowed?
thanks!
edit: is it a 60 page accordion style japanese one like this? utrechtart link (http://www.utrechtart.com/Moleskine-Black-Classic-Hard-Cover-Notebook--Japanese-Accordion-Album-MP-11800-005-i1008598.utrecht)

#1--- If you fit the requirements set by AFA then of course!
#2--- Dangit.. I'll have to find a new link... But yes, that's the right one--the pocket size like Linda said.
#3--- Any media is allowed, but pay close attention to any stipulations given by whoever's book you have, everyone is allowed to make stipulations (like mine that stickers & unaltered magazine pics not be used as focals)...
Kynara
01-06-2015, 12:35 AM
thanks linda, I went ahead and ordered the one from Utrecht (gave me an excuse to order some more individual inktense pencils ;) )
what's the paper in them like? will it hold up to watercolor? or is it better with dry mediums

whats a tip in?
I think it's where you make it on a separate piece of paper and then glue it into the book

KD I'm totally excited about your theme!! :D
& yes, by my understanding Kynara is correct on the tip ins.

ok, I think I've decided on a theme...
Theme: "Outer Space Pot Luck" Set on a spaceship and all the different aliens have brought entrees, desserts, h'ordeuvres and/or drinks from their planet to share.
Do: feel free to make each page or set of pages from a different part/room of the ship. also, feel free to get as crazy, colorful and creative as you like!

Oh what a fun theme kynara! This is gonna be a ball!
And yes on the tip-ins. You guys got it right. It just makes a book a bit bulky if there are a few of them in there. Of course if someone is falling behind and needs to make one to catch up I won't squawk. :)

I am going to do a little something different. I want my book to include arty/illustrated recipes. The theme of the recipes should be anything "food truck" related. It can be any type of recipe you might be able to enjoy from a food truck, which is essentially anything. You might be thinking, but I've never...just research it , it's pretty awesome. Another source for inspiration is http://www.theydrawandcook.com they have some great illustrated recipes - right, Grrrdjules?!
Charlie Brown my first thought was Mexican since my Dad always wanted his own restaurant even one that fit in a truck. In Mexico he would sometimes sell food on a corner. But I think I have a different idea for your theme. A recipe my mom got from a friend and used to make often.:D

Those lil venders who sell specialty grub outta a truck on the side if the road... We even have a few here in my tiny lil town! :) Just google Food trucks for some info & inspiration!
Kynara
01-11-2015, 08:30 PM
Ok, I think I've seen those on TV. (we don't have anything like that around here lol)
I'll google it for some more info, I've got to google for a recipe anyways haha I don't cook anymore and have gotten rid of all my cookbooks/recipes ;) :twitcy:
Mrs.Alderman
01-12-2015, 04:02 AM
hmm can we make up our own food truck to go with a recipie we have? I'm not a good chef and my recipies are few and far inbetween... and I dont feel comfortable giving out a recipe if ive never tried it. would be sad to give something that didint taste yummy!! but I have one for beer rouges thats delicious and possibly could be made in a food truck if they were patient enough lol?

My THEME will be:
Cupcakes and Tea - For this swap please make a scene with a table set for high tea with cupcakes being served as the main pastry.
At a minimum there needs to be an obvious cupcake and a teacup.

hmm can we make up our own food truck to go with a recipie we have? I'm not a good chef and my recipies are few and far inbetween... and I dont feel comfortable giving out a recipe if ive never tried it. would be sad to give something that didint taste yummy!! but I have one for beer rouges thats delicious and possibly could be made in a food truck if they were patient enough lol?
Absolutely, make your own truck for your recipe if you want. BTW, burritos are good!! It doesn't matter if it's an easy, hard, basic etc. recipe. You are all creative and I trust that your creative twist on anything will be fantastic. Heck, they even do really simple foods like grilled cheese, and PBJ - I'm open to something fun.

Question for all of you seasoned moley folks (but pretty much everybody's opinion counts here)... What in your opinion works best, a rotating mailing where everybody mails to a different person every month or a set schedule so that each player always mails to the same person? Of course I would do my best to take locations into consideration if we go that route---& I'm willing to be the one always mailing to Canada (or anywhere else if our last player is farther away international)... Opinions??

01-13-2015, 02:31 AM
Mailing to the same person certainly is easier to keep track of, although if it puts undue financial burden on someone mailing international I'm open to the other way too.
My book is currently on order from my local art store. Should be here in a week they tell me.
Linda4atc
01-13-2015, 02:39 AM
I am totally new to moleys, but I say rotate. If it is set you will always be between the same two people. But the pages may blend together better with a different artist next to you....
Besides it will give us a chance to see some what other artists are doing. Can we post in the thread or do they have to be kept as a surprise. Never mind I just remembered you already posted your Sugar Shock Princess. Duhhh

I don't mind mailing to the same person each month even if it's international... the rotation idea kinda hurts my head trying to figure out how you would set it up. lol but this is my first moley and I'm not wise in the ways of rotation mailing ;) I'll go with whatever. :wubclub:

I would like to reword my DO section. Does this make since?
Do: Create a section of this industrial gadget strewn town as the smartly dressed (steampunk) people prepare the feast. It is a happy festive occasion so there is no need for the typical monochromatic browns or grays of some steampunk art. Doing a slight overlap of pages is optional. But if you wish to use a version of an element from another page, such as a pipe in a wall, a tree, a bike or a gadget, in your page that is fine. Often towns will have similar aspects in more than one location..

Luckily I live close enough to Ubrecht's warehouse or whatever that I got mine two days after I signed up hehehe
I have the first two pages drawn and starting to color them. I'm finding I have to be careful using watercolors because the paper doesn't like it much. lol! I may end up making my third page with my copics or pencils if I can figure out what to draw. The first two came easy, but now I'm stumped... :twitcy:
Linda4atc
01-20-2015, 03:33 AM
I see why we do the first pages ourselves. I sketched mine out on scrap paper then traced it onto tracing paper. I planned to use my light box to trace it into the book. But there is no way to get the page down flat with the cover out of the way and steady long enough to do the tracing. I ended up scribbling with a lead pencil on the back of the tracing paper and transferring that way.
Good news is it is all inked in and ready to color. And I am making atc's for the steampunk swap from sections of my drawing. I figure it would give me a chance to play with the coloring before I work in the book.

Question did you want each room(person) to have more than one kind of alien? I'm asking because I was thinking to do the room as kind of a habitat for the species. That said, I am using the awesome Barlowe's Guide to Extraterrestrials and I may find a couple of aliens who can live well together in a single habitat. Well here is mine. Some things I discovered
1) scanning works better if you accordion fold the pages in the 3 page sections.
2) I tried to remember to put paper under the pages I was working on but I forgot sometimes because I noticed my copics soaked through to the pocket on the back. So I need to remember to NEVER have the other pages under what I am working on.
3) I found a plastic clip held the other pages in a compact group out of my way.
Now I have a question, How do you usually pack these tor shipping?
kentuckydakota
01-28-2015, 10:53 PM
What a great spread Linda! So cute! Yes the high end pens do bleed through these puppies and watercolors make them pill up although I did have some success last time with the watercolor pencils and just a light wash of water real quick over them- no time for the paper to get soaked in to.
As for packing I think most people put wax paper over their finished pages, and I personally put a sandwich bag around the accordion section so it doesn't fall all over the place when the next person opens it- also when I'm working on it. It keeps the pages that aren't mine to color on safe.
Other than that a bubble mailer usually does the trick, and sometimes I've seen people put little thank you gifts in the pocket for their fellow traders-stickers, bookmarks, recipe cards, etc. Just something fun I've seen people do.

great pages, Linda!! in my experience, wax paper between the pages is a must, especially in the summer months and the easiest way to ship them is to put the book in a quart sized ziplock and put that in a padded envelope to send. they travel very well that way.

I've got to start looking for the perfect recipe to kick off Jules' book... So many choices... Mmmmmm...
Ps. I went ahead & set the first mail out on February 6th. The 1st fell on Sundays more often, so I thought the 6th would be less stressful somehow.) ;)

T- I want to use the inside "if lost" pages for my "sign in" and travel plan. I'm just going to tape all my contact info on the cover for now. Is that ok? Let me know if this is a bad idea.
kentuckydakota
01-30-2015, 07:45 PM
I think that sounds fine. Or there's also the front of the back pocket which makes a good spot for sign-ins or your address.
And if you really want to do watercolor you can, if you keep it pretty dry and move fast. Just be aware it might pill up. Or you could art on watercolor paper and cut it to size and glue it in which works better for the first pages rather than the accordion pages in my experience.
But hey, it's your book so have fun with it and experiment. :)

thank you! I'm so excited to see how all of these turn out XD Ive always wanted to play in a book swap so this will be an awesome group for it too!! Lindas pages swap piqued my interest and my book from that swap is very lovely!! there are so many amazing edible flowers and its fun to find out what you can eat and what tastes good too. never would have imagined pansies or dandelions to taste good. (dandelions its the roots if they are baked, but I dont do that unless I know 100% they've never been sprayed, Ive heard people eat the leaves in salad too but havent been brave enough to try yet)

I've had someone tell me they've sauteed dandelion leaves and eaten them.
makes me itchy thinking about it... I'm allergic to most flowers, grass & trees... (and yet I live in the country ha)

I need some examples for the sign in and travel plan info... First, I know it's up to me how to do it... LOL I just don't know how much information is needed for this. Do we just print up the address list in order of mailing for that book, fold it an attach it to the book?
And for the sign in page, how much room do you leave for each person, what are they going to be writing? again, I'm sure it's up to each person how much/what they put... i'm trying to get an idea of what it's for...
for some reason my brain is drawing a blank for this... I've done deco book swaps in the past where we mail the book around, but those were twice the size of these and had more room. plus we made the pages so we could make extra to have room for this info. ;)
my head hurts now... :twitcy:
Kynara
02-01-2015, 06:34 PM
the more I think about it... should the travel plan in the book really have the addresses in it? what if there's a change of address (like with angelmuz when she goes back to canada)... Do we just put the names and then whoever's mailing can refer to their address list from the PM to see what addy to use...
am I over thinking this?

ive always done the first two pages with my return address and a "travel log"...basically just a list in order of who gets the book. ive noticed with others who have done a sign in that half the people forget to sign it so its pretty hit or miss. the travel list reminds me when i look at it years later who was in the group and in what order they worked in my book.

I just finished my travel plan and it's basically a list of the players in order by travel destination. No Addie's or anything - just usernames with my fun twist to make it creative.
I think I will put my sign in towards the back - don't know yet. I have to do a very little bit at a time right now - my vision is still pretty wonky.

I am not doing my cover. But I put the travel list behind the page with my emergency info. And I made a small book for signatures that tucks into the back pocket and is attached with a string. To make it flatter for mailing it fits in the pocket opened out to the center pages.

I just mailed mine in the bubble envelope, no extra bubble wrap or box. Do you think it is needed? It doubles the cost of mailing, it only cost $2 something the way I did it.....
oh nono I definately don't think the box OR priority is needed. The only reason I did it was because I knew you usually only made it to the PO once a week and I wanted to get it there before your next trip since I was mailing on Monday instead of the previous Friday... :wubclub:
normally it would have cost me i think either 2.25 or 2.42 (6 or 7 oz) for a regular package. (when I print it myself with stamps.com I get a tracking number, but I don't know if you have to pay extra for that if you take it to the PO)
the yellow bubble envie it was in in the box was so you can use it to mail to the next person. :)
And in case anyone didn't know, at some point this year, the PO will no longer accept stamps for parcels. I'm pretty sure this means you won't be able to put forever stamps (etc) on the bubble envies (unless they've already stopped doing it last month, I can't remember the date, my stamp program alerted me to it) If this affects anyone, you may want to doublecheck with your local post office

Well hell, what's it matter to them how the postage is paid for??? We pay the same for stamps as we do for them to slap a sticker on packages... That just seems nit picky to me... Seems like the USPS is absolutely determined to make things more annoyingly difficult... Grrrrrr....
Kynara
02-16-2015, 05:29 AM
I dunno, so I went and looked at the announcement in my stamps.com acct... here's what it says (it's long...)
"Effective Sunday, January 25th, 2015, the USPS requires that all First Class, Priority Mail, Priority Mail Express and Parcel Select packages be shipped with an Intelligent Mail Package Barcode (IMpB) tracking label. First Class letters, Large Envelopes and Postcards are not affected by this new USPS requirement.
Packages that do not include an IMpB may face delivery delays as well as increased postage charges. Moreover, if you print postage online with a service like Stamps.com, the IMpB is required in order to receive Commercial Base and Commercial Plus discounts.
Stamps.com shipping labels already include IMpB barcodes!
Stamps.com customers printing shipping labels need not worry. All shipping labels generated by Stamps.com already contain the IMpB-compliant tracking barcode and our customers will continue to receive discounted rates.
Printing NetStamps? Learn how this update impacts you.
Stamps.com customers printing NetStamps are impacted by this update. Since NetStamps are designed to function like regular stamps, they don’t carry a barcode like shipping labels. Within the Stamps.com software, customers can still print NetStamps postage for packages but at Retail Post Office Rates only. A Form 400 USPS Tracking Label must be included. If using NetStamps with First Class letters, Large Envelopes or Postcards, Stamps.com customers will still receive discounted rates and will not need to include the Form 400 USPS Tracking Label. The Form 400 USPS Tracking Label is available for order at the Stamps.com Store. Stamps.com Online customers will no longer be able to print NetStamps postage for First Class Packages, as well as for Priority Mail, Priority Mail Express and Parcel Select packages.
Pay Retail Post Office Rates with a Postage Meter
Businesses that print shipping labels on a postage meter are also impacted by this USPS update. Since postage for a package using a meter is typically printed on “meter tape”, there is not enough space to print a barcode. Therefore, as of January 25th, 2015, metered postage for packages is not eligible for discounted shipping rates. Commercial Base rates are only available to shippers who have the ability to print their own unique IMpB tracking label. All other shippers can continue to use their postage meters but will no longer receive the discounted rates. Since costs can add up quickly without the commercial base discounts, high volume shippers may want to consider alternative shipping solutions. Moreover, these shippers need to ensure that each mail piece includes a USPS Tracking label (Label 400) to comply with the new requirement."
Kynara
02-16-2015, 05:33 AM
basically, the want all packages to have the barcode. meaning all will be trackable. I kind of like this idea just because it means they're wanting to be more careful with where the packages are. *shrug* i dunno...
anyone in the US with a printer and an online form of payment (debit card or paypal)... oh and maybe a scale lol ... can go to usps.com and pay for their their postage there. there's a bit of a discount by paying for it online as well...
I know this isn't ideal for alot of people, but I hope in the end it will make for better more reliable service from the usps... (yea, I'm being annoyingly optimistic lol ;) )

Jules--thanks for letting me know!! :)
Angelmuz... Still waiting to hear about Waffle's book? (Unless I missed it somewhere...)

Linda, I will have to check it later. I'm at work right now. I don't think it was any more than $2 and change. It came as snug as a bug in a rug, safe and sound.
Yay! Glad mine made it to Juli safe and sound.

Do we hang on to them until the mail date? Or go ahead and pass it on.
I have some bubbles coming from the pipe in the tank, and I made the background lighter behind and under the tank to show it is filtered through water. I thought about adding some other sign of water but I am afraid to. And I got the three figures from the Barstowe's Guide but the tank, food and tree were all out of my head.

Ohh the big guys legs should be longer, and the bird girls beak and feathers don't show as nice as the original.

you know? without seeing the original, the differences aren't noticeable. I would never have known, they look great as they are! ;)

i know in the past there have been groups that have had serious problems with books getting backed up with one member who is suddenly overwhelmed when they end up with multiple ones to work on. when i hosted i tried to encourage everyone to wait to mail until the next mailing date just to keep things from getting out of control. some of us will work quickly and others will need the full month to finish each spread. its easy to get things really jumbled up if we are sending randomly as we finish.
anyway...that's my 2 cents. :)

Sounds like wise advice from an experienced hand... Sitting here looking at two moleys kinda freaked me out today, but then I remembered that I don't have to have the 2nd one mailed out til waaay the heck off in April (if my brain is functioning properly & I'm looking at it straight lol), it helped calm my nerves. :)
Gotta take the kiddo to the dentist tomorrow, but I hope to tie into Jules' moley in earnest later tomorrow evening. :jiggy:

Well we can compromise and hold onto the book untill the next person says they are ready for it. Personally I want the next book NOW. LOL:P
But then again I had my foundation for this book and Charlie Browns book done before we started.

I personally am in two moley groups so if I get too many books here I may get confused. Angelmuz and I have a total of 5 between us right now-some finished, some not, some February books and some March. But 5 is enough for us to keep track of-lol.

having been in a group where at least 6 of the 10 books ended up with one person who was too overwhelmed to get caught up and mods had to come in and sort things out just so we could limp to the finish...im more likely to err on the side of caution. communication is the key. posting regularly regarding mailing and receiving of books and letting the host know if something comes up that will cause a delay or if you are feeling overwhelmed at any time are vital to keeping a group like this going. we're all in this together!
okay...stepping off my soapbox a getting back to my art table. ;)
