Triptyches are wonderful, fun cards. Triptyches come in many varieties, but a Triptych is basically a 3 section panelled card that is attached in a long strip and folds in on itself.
Some people make 3 separate cards and join them with hinges.
Some people put three cards on a 7 1/2 by 3 1/2 inch backing that accordian folds or book folds into itself.
The Triptyches can fold at the sides and meet in the middle, but they do not have to.
The cards can open up into a triptych, but fold in on itself. That would be left over right and when it opens, it is a triptych.
Cards can be shaped or left retangular, as long as the finished product still fits into a regular ATC sleeve.

Diptyches are 2 fold, but are just as gorgeous

Many historic Triptyches are of a religious nature, but the ones you create do not have to be.

Check out these UNBELIEVEABLE Triptych Asian block prints.

(Do I sense another swap coming up?)

* This is a 3 for 3 or 6 for 6 card trade. Make 3 or 6 cards and receive 3 or 6 cards back.

* All mediums and styles are welcome. Triptyches can be of any theme. All I ask is that you send in your best work. Something you would not be disappointed in receiving if it was sent to you.

* If you are inside the U.S., please include a GOOD QUALITY (cards put more wear and tear on an envelope than a letter does!) SASE (Self Addressed Stamped LEGAL SIZE Envelope 4 by 9 1/4), or a mailing label with your address and loose stamps. If you like to make ATCs using postage stamps, why not take this as an opportunity to use a stamp on your return envelope that you want to later use on an ATC. You fufill my request for a SASE, and you get to choose the stamp that will come back to you. Please put your Username and Swap Name on your mailing envelope, return envelope, and on all cards. And please write clearly on everything!

* International participants, I will cover your postage. Please include a GOOD QUALITY (cards put more wear and tear on an envelope than a letter does!) addressed LEGAL SIZE envelope 4 by 9 1/4, or a mailing label with your address. Please put your username and Swap Name on your mailing envelope, return envelope, and on all cards and labels. And please write clearly on everything!

* Cards are due to me by July 1, 2008. Please allow sufficient lead time for cards to get to me, particularly if you are an International participant. itrader ratings will be given when I receive your cards. Returns will be mailed approximately one week after the due date. Late cards will be returned as it is unfair to those participants who always have their cards in early or on time.

* Remember: We all want to be able to know who to give rep points back to. So, do not forget to put your username, swap name, and title on the back of each card!

* An extra ATC in this theme is always appreciated, but certainly not expected!

* Thanks for considering this swap! I’ll PM you with my address when you sign up!

* Above all ~Have fun!!!

I've really been wanting to do one of these ever since I saw a raven triptych in Bernie Berlin's ATC book :) but I'm a little intimidated! Sign me up? I love a challenge! ;)

I just added some additional links to help you get excited about this Swap.
Any more brave folks out there?

I'm watching this thread for now -I'd love to join, but I have to clear up some previous committments before I sign up.
I'll be back in a couple of weeks ;)

Welcome SeaSong. Of course, I'll have you.

Nowzem, I just checked out Bernie Berlins' book, "Artist Trading Card Workshop".
I assume the Raven Triptych you referenced is the "Evil Raven" with the folded wings. That would make an AWESOME Triptych!

Is that going to be one of your cards? Or do you have a different first card idea?
This is going to be a GREAT Swap.

Anyone interested, there are some great ATC ideas in Bernie Berlins' book (in addition to the raven triptych)

Hey Vicki! I was thinking about doing an OWL instead of the lovely raven :D I fell in love with all the cards that fold like that! Did you see the robots one? I love that one too :D
