#23- Most Marvelous Moley Group- FULL
First Mail Out Date: March, 2016
No Withdrawal Date
Number of players: 10
PLEASE BE AWARE:
Because these type of swaps require a huge, very long-term commitment of time and resources, there are special requirements for participation in a swap of this type.
You must:
- Be an actively trading AFA member (defined as: positive iTrader across 2 swaps in the last 3 months)
- Have 3+ months in good standing (no neutrals or negative iTraders)
- Have an iTrader rating of 25+
- Be willing and able to do your very best work on a strict, inflexible time line, over a long period
- Be willing and able to complete the set number of journal pages in the themes chosen by your fellow participants depending on the journal group guidelines
- Have the cash resources necessary to ship the journals around the world using First Class or Airmail. Please use tracking where available.
- First-time circle journal/moley participants may only sign up for one moley group at a time.
Your Host will:
-Check to see that you fulfill the requirements listed above
-Need your real name, address, telephone number, email and a second contact number private messaged to her (possibly a fingerprint and blood sample if these don't seem legit :D )
-Only consider you enrolled in the moley swap once both of the above are completed (I was joking about the fingerprint and blood sample though)
-Leave negative itrader if you scarper with someone's book, disappear from the site mid-swap or in any other way violate afa's rules to the level that a negative itrader is warranted.
Each artist will:
-pm their contact information to the hostess
-list their theme in the thread with all details needed to make their pages spectacular
-prepare their travel pages
-communicate regularly in the thread
-mail on time (Or have a darn good reason why they might be a day or two late);)
Please post whenever you receive or mail a book and provide tracking numbers. And keep the communication flowing.
We all know life happens. If you are falling behind, contact me. There are ways for me to help, but only if I'm aware there's a problem.
We will be using the Japanese Moleskine accordion style pocket album. Size 3.5" x 5.5".
These can be purchased online:
http://www.moleskine.com/en/collections/model/product/japanese-album-pocket
http://www.amazon.com/Moleskine-Japanese-Pocket-Classic-Notebooks/dp/8883701046/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1454285689&sr=8-1&keywords=moleskine+japanese+pocket
So Here We Go!
Pick a theme and let's get to decorating those travel pages.
Typically your travel pages will include:
1. A Title (Theme)
2. Your real name and address
3.The travel route your journal will take
4. A sign-in page
If you like, you can also include any special instructions or even a small thank you gift for your fellow artists. (I'm not saying the art is better when you do this...but, y'know, it's your call.) :D
Next decorate the first 3 accordion pages, leaving the rest of the pages blank for the other 9 artists to decorate. And that's it. You're ready for our first mail out.
Be sure your book is securely packaged. Wax paper should be placed between each page to keep the art from sticking together, especially in hot months. Plastic ziplock bags and bubble mailers are recommended.

1. Linda4atcs-THEME: Life in the Garden
Lots of Flowers and anything that lives in the garden, real or fantasy.
DO's: Fill your pages with flowers, birds, butterflies, insects, rabbits, squirrels, more flowers, fairies, gnomes, etc. (optional add a favorite quote)
DON'Ts: Nothing Bulky. Don't just make a row of of flowers with a critter or two. Don't leave a lots of ground or sky, make it fun.
MEDIA: Do what you do best as long as it's not bulky.
2. angelmuz Theme: Steampunk Storytime
I know its a theme I keep making everyone do who swaps with me! But I just love it. So I am thinking that we stick to mainline fairytales or stories. For example anything Disney turned into a cartoon movie. Now, I am NOT saying to draw it in disney character style, make it your own style, but use those stories. Jungle book, Cinderella, Snow white, Pinocchio, The little mermaid, Tarzan etc... (even the aristocats if you want too!!)
Do: I do ask that you each do a different story, please don't repeat the ones done before you. Then once you pick your tale, please steampunk it up a bit. Gives it a new look, retro and victorianesque. And PLEASE do cover the whole three pages, not just one pic in the middle and coloring all around it.
Don't: Please do not do horror or gore or nudity.
Media: Use whatever medium you enjoy the most and can design most comfortably in- mixed media, or HD, HP
3. kentuckydakota- Theme: Dead Men Tell No Tales
Buccaneer, Corsair, Marauder, Scallywag, that's right- thar be Pirates 'ere! Cutthroat crews, Schooners with skull and crossbones flying, back-stabbing ruffians, and lovable rogues. I want it all!
DO: Let your imagination go. Use references from favorite pirate movies, characters, books or historical pirates. Give me action and adventure. If your art seems to tell a story I will be thrilled! A pirate map is fine for a background image, but please include a focal point as well. If you like to make pockets, things that move, open, or spin- I like that too! Fill those pages with eye catching images and activity for me to discover. Let the art overflow into the next persons page just a bit to give an unbroken feel to the scene.
DON’T: Please no nudity- all heaving bosoms should remain inside blouses. (Perilously close to popping out is ok). Please do not put one image on the spread and call it done-there is plenty of space so use it all :)
MEDIA:Work in whatever media is your best. I love Hd and Mixed Media where there are some hand drawn elements included.
4. mesektet-Theme: Small Town Charm
A few years ago, I moved out to a small town from the city to teach and have fallen in love with it. I love that I always run into people I know at the shops, the events/street parties that we have, the fact that my neighbours really do stop by to borrow a cup of sugar.
I’d like this Moley to be one long view of the same small town and all the things that it has to offer. People, places, events. What makes a small town special?
DO: Feel free to go slightly into the next page or follow on from the previous artist’s work. I’d like the art to flow and be a continuous view of the town. Please ask if you need any inspiration or want to check whether something makes sense for a small town.
DON’T: Please only include things that would be appropriate for children. No blood, gore, etc.
MEDIA: Any. Just keep it fairly thin to make it easier to post and for other artists to do their work.
5. Miss M- Theme = The Secret Life of Birds
What do birds do when people aren't watching? Do they play tennis? Have tea parties? Throw lavish weddings? Are there bird inventors? Do they drive cars? Do they know how to surf the internet? Capture a scene depicting an aspect of the secret life of birds.
DO's: Realistic or whimsical, tell a story with your spread. Must show at least one bird. Love colour.
DON'Ts: I'd like to avoid tip-ins, and making the spread over thick (as long as the moley can close).
MEDIA: I prefer HD/DP. I'm open to a well done mixed-media collage.
6. GwennieJo-Theme: Illustrated Quotes
What quote is meaningful to you? What words resonate with your soul? Maybe it’s a quote from Buddha, part of a poem, a line or two from a song, a passage from the Bible, or an anecdote from your own life. Please illustrate your favorite quote(s) either by writing the words in an artistic manner or using imagery to illustrate the meaning.
DO: Please include your quote and source (if known) on your page somewhere. You can illustrate one, two or three quotes (one per page) if you wish. And please be artistic.
DON’T: Please no profanity or swear words. No plain handwritten quotes without a background or art.
MEDIA: I prefer HD/HP but mixed media/collage of your own art, nicely done, is fine, too.
7. Iridescent888- Theme : Lucy in the sky with diamonds
I am a kid of the Beatles era and for this theme let your imagination change like a kaleidoscope as we finally find out what Lucy really looks like, who got her those diamonds and why in the heck is she in the sky. If you don't know the song then look up the lyrics and if you do I hope you sing along.
Do: tell a story and get familiar with the lyrics as Lucy sounds like one far out chick that digs rocks, colors, flys ,and knows the Fab Four. Dig it?
Don'ts: no need to be plain or shy. I expect to hallucinate on the full pages of color !
Media: love love HD/HP. If not just give it your best man.
Right on!
8. moonrose442- Theme = fantasy love
Meaning dragon with its pet fairy . A fairy hugging a flower or mermaid with her baby.
Any kind of fantasy animal or humanoid that love each other as friends, family or care giving way.
DO's: Realistic, whimsical, any style. Show love or friendship love.
Background of places they would be not just plane. (more then 1 color or zen is fine too. Something not nothing.)
Make sure your humanoid show there not human. ( with ears wing or extra arm or hoofs )
DON'Ts: don’t make it all hearts valentine like. Not over pink. Not bloody. Sex or nude sexily scenes.
No political right stuff.
not any romantic love
No humans.
MEDIA: any media your best at. Love HP/HD work.
Not big fan of collage. But collage of own art work, mixed media is cool.
9.Coyote: Theme- Noble or Humble Members of the Canine Kingdom:
I was given a book by my grandmother just before she died that had beautiful art of dogs in noble portraits. BUT! They were dog's heads on human bodies. I have the book at home and will post photos here in a little bit.
Do: Create a portrait of the most noble (or humble) member of the Canine Kingdom! (The first one I will be putting in is my dog Fitz dressed as a Bard.) Each portrait should have a somewhat sarcastic description of the Noblitiy or Humble canine you are drawing/painting. For Example: Journayman Fitzgerald Fleetfoot: His parents strongly encouraged him to be a warrior, but the solomn little lad had not the stomach for fighting. Instead he wore away the hours prancing around his cousin taunting her with songs whilst she slashed at him with a wood sword.
BE CREATIVE!
Don'ts: Magazine images, computer images, stickers, etc.
Media: Hd/Hp!
10.TandyTheme: Crustaceans (crabs, lobsters, etc.)
Do: Realistic or whimsical. Fill your 3-pages with one horizontal scene. Have your crustacean(s) in some kind of environment (eg. Ocean, beach, boat, dock, restaurant, grocery store, etc.). Fill the entire 3-pages. Sign the back of your artwork and give it a title (you can sign front too if you want; it's optional).
Don't: Tip-ins. 3-D elements. Zen tangle. Zetti. Blood/gore.
Media: Prefer HD/HP. Mixed media okay. Minimal collage okay, as long as main image is HD/HP.

Is there somewhere I can see an example of the travel pages? Are they part of the book or do they fit in the back pocket?

Check out the beginning pages in the Moley #22 thread for examples. I also have mine posted in my gallery.

Here are a few examples of travel pages I had from past moleys. And yes, there are lots of examples in past moley groups. They are done on the inside cover, the one page (both sides) that is not part of the accordion pages, and sometimes the back pocket.
kentuckydakota
02-01-2016, 09:07 PM
Here is another example. You can make them as elaborate or as simple as you like. In this example I combined my address and Title page on one page, travel page on the second and sign in on the third.

Ooh, tempting... I've had an empty Moley in my desk drawer for a very long time...

GwennieJo you wouldn't be alone, I've never done this before either.

It actually is quite simple once you get started GwennieJo and fun to have a somewhat bigger canvas to art on. Plus having a whole month to work on each spread makes it really nice.
I was nervous with my first moley, but it turned out to be pretty simple and fun. :)
Hope you jump in, dear. :)

Okay, I'm going to join! Thank you for the encouragement, Miss M and kentuckydakota. And I hope you join too, miss! I love your artwork.
I still need to purchase the actually Moley sketchbook but I'll get on that today. I'm pretty sure I can't find one locally so I'll have to order it. Hopefully it will get to me quickly.
I'll come back in a bit with my theme, I'm still deciding that. Should I PM you my contact info, kentuckydakota?
Thanks!

Woot! So glad you jumped in! I got your contact info so you're all set. Let me know your theme when you get that figured out.
I've had good results buying my books from Amazon, though hit and miss when I purchase from Amazon sellers (people selling on Amazon). Those are usually coming from overseas and take awhile if they ever arrive. Most art stores, if they don't carry this book, can order it.

I have chosen my theme and followed the format from the first page. Here goes:
Theme: Illustrated Quotes

Does this work?

I'll put it up on the list :)

yay, we're filling up!
Hey, miss, has your blank moley convinced you to join in? :D
Hey, miss, has your blank moley convinced you to join in?
I'm still torn! I did this once before, and I loved the experience, plus this looks like a great roster of artists! But I have my last semester of grad school in the summer/ fall, and the time I get to spend on art drops off tremendously then, so I'm not sure I should commit myself... Argh! I really want to, though.
Miss M
02-04-2016, 09:24 PM
Yeah, school had a habit of doing that! Would love to have your art in my moley, but I don't want to pressure you. :) There will be more moley threads!
moonrose442
02-04-2016, 09:36 PM
Yes it would be nice miss, but school is more important.
GwennieJo hoot I get to use my calligraphy books. Lol I can now say "I need them for my art!"
kentuckydakota
02-04-2016, 09:42 PM
Aw, darn those school obligations, always getting in the way of the important stuff:mad:, lol! If you decide you can fit it in, Miss, we'd love to have you, but we understand if there just isn't time.

Y,es I remember being so serious about school I had to choose it over my boyfriend. He's gone but the degree is still with me and now I have a little art time between kids school.
My Moley is ordered and I am thinking of a theme. I have not tried calligraphy yet moonrose but sure do have supplies around here somewhere. Even cursive is becoming a lost art
They taught a little to my fourth graders last year. One still writes in cursive the other prefers computer homework.

I'm so glad there are other people new to Moley swaps. I was a bit worried that I'd be the only one.

Ifn' ya want to. Some do, some don't. Just don't make it too heavy for the internationals to mail.
I once did my cover up all fancy and then my moley got lost in the mail half way through the swap. I quickly sent out another to gather the rest of my art, but I didn't decorate that cover just in case it got lost too. :( Boo!
Miss M
02-05-2016, 08:41 PM

Do you still need someone? Have I read this right - you do the first three pages of your moley then send it on? You have how long to make each one? I'm thinking yes, I'd like to do this.
Miss M
02-08-2016, 09:12 PM
Rosecake, our illustrious hostess will correct me if I'm wrong, but I do believe we still have one more spot!
Yes, you start off your Moley with the first spread. There are also travel pages, and a this book belongs to page you need to do (explained in an earlier post)
We mail out on the first of every month, so depending on where you live you probably have about 2 weeks to finish each spread (give or take). And we keep doing that until all players have had a chance to do a spread in each person's Moley ( in a nutshell explanation).
Hope that helps!
Rosecake

Thank you, Miss M. Way fun! I'm in if there's a spot.

Hi Rosecake. Welcome!:)
And thank you Miss M for the great assist! :)
Let me do a quick look-see to make sure you are within the guidelines, and then I'll get you on the list.
Meanwhile if you can send me your mailing info that would be super great. Feel free to ask any questions you may have. It sounds confusing at the beginning but it's actually pretty simple and loads of fun!

Ok, everything's a go Rosecake. Consider yourself well in.
kentuckydakota
02-08-2016, 10:09 PM
And for those of you working on travel pages I've decided we will mail out to the same person throughout the swap. I personally prefer to mix it up, but in the interest of simplicity and handling the cost of international posting, this seems like a good arrangement for this swap.
So if you go to the first post you will see our travel order- basically a wonky circle with a big jaunt off to Australia thrown in the middle-lol :)

Theme: Frida and Diego
I would like to see Frida and Diego and/or scenes from their world. I love Mexico and Mexican art, esp. Frida's and Diego's. Frida's monkeys or dogs or her neat house would be nice to include here. Also some calla lilies and Indian women with baskets of flowers would be great. Every page does not have to have Frida and Diego, but if someone did Frida and Diego together that would be great.
Do: Use your style to make me feel like I am in Frida and Diego's world. Play it straight.
Don't: Don't make it goth or cutesy or snarky or or some other funky style...or gory, etc. **Most important** - :nah: I am very allergic to perfumes, colognes and other strong scents like potpourri, etc. Please do not wear these when working on my book or place the moley near these items. Thank you on this.
Media: I prefer hdhp.

I am very, very sorry, but I may need to bow out. When I signed up I was thinking hdhp. I know some people said mixed media would be okay, but I was still thinking hdhp. I have so many chemical sensitivities it is a possibility I might react to the adhesives or even acrylics of the art that comes before me. :( I do okay in swaps because the art is in sleeves.
I think there is still time to get another player...or another option would be that if I couldn't do a particular moley I could do a tryptych of tip-ins...but some people prefer no tip-ins. I will let our illustrious host make the decision.
I appreciate the patience. I love the group of artists on this site. Since the multiple chemical sensitivities isolates me so much, this art site means the world to me.

Ok, after a bit of discussion, Rosecake has decided she should bow out for her health's sake.
I do want to thank our whole wonderful group for being so flexible and supportive. You guys are great!
For those of you who I confused with the reference to tip-ins, that refers to making your art on a separate paper and cutting it to fit and gluing it in the book (as opposed to doing the art right on the books pages)
kentuckydakota

This does leave us a man short. (or a woman short)
If you know of someone who'd like to join a Moley group, give em a nudge, nudge.
Otherwise, we will soldier on with 9 of us.
And it might be a good plan to wait til just before mailing to fill in your travel route. I know, why didn't I mention that sooner!?! Sorry about that :embarrassed: I should have.

Can I have the 10th spot?
If so then here is my information:
Noble or Humble Members of the Canine Kingdom:

Could you correct this for me? I found a mistake in my don'ts and added more emphasis on flowers in the description.
Coyote I already chose my images and story for doing your pages. I never cared much for the people/animal hybrid type art, but I do enjoy the challenge. :D

ok questions, are the numbers by our name our number for the book group?
for the sign in page do we sign our real mans or the user names?
I had a Idea of making the sign in page and the first 3 of my art go together. And some of you would need to sign in on my art work. depending on the answers it will be numbered or its going to be pick a fish to sign. :D

I basically numbered for organizational purposes. But you're welcome to use em that way. Not sure I'm envisioning what you were planning to do, but I'm sure I'll get it when I see it.

I'm sorry it took me so long to get this to you.
Theme: Crustaceans (crabs, lobsters, etc.)

Okay, newbie question time!
I want to make sure I have the first pages straight. I know I have to make a travel page and decorate the first three pages. So which pages exactly are my pages?
I'm thinking its:
1. Inside the front cover (on the back of the cover)
2. The opposite page
3. And then the next three pages?
Or does #2 (the opposite page, above) count as my first page? I'm confused...
Miss M
02-16-2016, 04:11 PM
GwennieJo from my understanding, the spreads start with the first accordion page, being 3 accordion pages long (wide)
When you open the book, the inside cover, and the entire first page (both front and back, as it's not attached to an accordion page) are yours to put sign in/trading info and title page etc. Look back at KentuckyDakota's post showing her pages (first page of thread). You can sort see it.
Hope that helps!
kentuckydakota
02-16-2016, 09:05 PM
Yep that's right. We have 30 accordion pages divided by 10 artists. That's your three pages per spread. And the inside cover and page that isn't part of the accordion is for your travel info, sign in and address however you'd like to set them up.
Linda4atc
02-16-2016, 10:04 PM
Yes but You should always count the pages. My last book was short a page. And somebody else said they had an extra page.

GwennieJo
02-18-2016, 09:19 AM
Thanks for answering my questions - I think I've got it. I counted the accordion pages in my book and all 30 are there. Do I put anything in the back pocket??
So the inside cover and first page that is not part of the accordion pages are mine for the travel info, book title, etc. and then I decorate the first three accordion pages, leaving the remaining 27 for the other artists. Right?
Linda4atc
02-18-2016, 10:35 AM
correct:)
kentuckydakota
02-18-2016, 12:33 PM
You've got it GwennieJo.
As for the back pocket, there's no hard and fast rule. I've seen it used for the sign in page on occasion or with a little sign in book inside it.
Also if you have a theme that requires each person to use something you include, that's where people sometimes put it. I don't think we have any themes like that.
Other than that, if people make thank-you gifts (little flat things like tags, stickers, bookmarks or whatever) sometimes they put them there.
moonrose442
02-18-2016, 01:26 PM
I put my address on the pocket and printed my theme guides for inside it..

amazon is like that some times, and its not worth the extra shipping charges because the stuff get here the same time as the slow shipping.

My son has Amazon Prime and every time he orders them for me they make it in 2 days. But if I order myself, especially from sellers that are out of country it is very slow and sometimes doesn't come at all. I hate that.
I once had our local art store order one for me and it took them over a month to get it in. So now I keep one on hand when I can.
kentuckydakota
02-18-2016, 05:52 PM
Ok, I've sent everyone the address of their mailing partner for the swap. Please let me know if you didn't receive it or if I sent you the wrong address, lol. It could happen. Clear as mud, right? :)
Linda4atc
02-18-2016, 10:16 PM
Kentucky can you ask your son if orders them from a particular seller. I may get my son to order me a couple since he also has Prime and I will be visiting him the last days of my trip.
Personally I always have trouble finding the correct book when I do a search. I ordered this book from a link given me at the beginning of the last group. Unfortunately I bought the last one they had.

I just talked to a nurse that loves Amazon she went in with a group of girls and did a "pool" to pay the membership. They all sign in with the same username but you have the option to send to another address. They use that option. They see each other every day and trust each other so prime fee for her was 10 dollars a year.
Coyote I hope you get your book too
I counted my pages over and over and I have 31 so I am just doing a page with a cool background and my name since I haven't added that. Yes gwennie jo we want info we are working hard on these !

This is my third group I always use a bubble mailer. Sometimes recycled. I buy the small ones that have two to a package at the dollar store when I can find them. But I have also purchased a large envelope and cut it into two. I use the good 2-inch wide box (mailing) tape. And I know at least one person who always uses the small flat rate box. Of course either way the book should be sealed in a ziploc bag first.

I must say Waffle is very lucky that we are working in a moley. If this mermaid was a separate piece of art I am not sure I would be able to part with it. I have the acrylic paints drying now.
So far it has graphite pencil shading, watercolor paint background, molding paste, acrylic paints in multiple colors, rubber stamping, stenciling, stickles glitter glue. I am going to use copic markers and multi liner for the eyes and I am going to mix some kind of glitter into gloss gel medium to paint onto her tail.

I think I mostly use a bubble mailer. I put the book in a zippy baggie, and then inside a bubble mailer. If I have one I can recycle that's always cool, but yeah mostly buying them at the dollar store. But flat rate boxes work great too.

A Good tip to not fall behind is work on the moleskine spread bit by bit. I set aside time for an entire week to get a Moleskine spread done.

I appreciate all the tips and responses to my questions - very helpful for a newbie! I'm still not sure how much time I'll need to set aside to work on Moleys but that may vary from theme to theme, I'm sure. I'm thinking at least two or three days each, at the minimum.

There was one moleskine spread I completed in 3 hours. I was just really into it. It definitely varies. Some of the themes for this group are going to make me reach new creative heights and I am excited.

3 hours? Wow! That's great! Hmm, I guess it's similar to making ATCs. Some cards take me less than 20 minutes, others take several hours. This is just a bigger spread so I will have to "scale up" my time.
moonrose442
02-23-2016, 12:27 PM
I work little everyday. I get up early so I can have a lone art time before work. and my days off most of the time are art time. I have no life. lol :D
Ive got 1/2 the group art drawn out. I made a template of the 3 pages out of card stock 5 1/2 x 10 1/2 with score lines at 3 1/2 . Once I draw it out then I use tracing paper. Then I take tracing with transfer paper, with a embossing tool I copy the art to book.
its a lot to do but not, because once book is here I can star painting ,its worth not erase lines.

It is so interesting to hear about other peoples processes.
I spend a lot of time planning out in my head my layout. Then when it gets down to starting a layout in a book I sit and stare at my 3 blank pages and have a moment or two (or hour or two) of panic- something like writers block, lol. But once I get started, it moves pretty quick. I think it does take me a few days working on and off, basically while watching TV for a few hours at night.
Iridescent888
02-23-2016, 01:49 PM
Hmm that's a different thought process moonrose. I may have to try that sometime'
I pencil the page in or two or three depending on how I feel. I have quicker sessions and not timed at all til I am happy with it sessions.
moonrose442
02-23-2016, 02:53 PM
with my process it gives me room for change. I can miss up or rework over and over until I get what I like. I don't shade just basic lay out. It also leaves me room to be spontaneous with the paint. Also if your working on wood or other surfs it helps for sizing an difficult placements.
Like cabinet or wall, you can tape it in place an stand back to see what looks good. It makes easy for a client to see what it can look like. Helps them see if this is what they want on end table for ever.

I saw that most people had created spaces for people to sign in. I wanted to just leave my page mostly blank, so people can draw their own butterfly to sign-in on.
I will be mailing on Monday.

I'm definitely not used to this paper, and I'm finding it...well not receptive of the stuff I normally art with. Those that are old hands at moleys :), what mediums do you use?
I tried out tombows, but the paper can pill easily (I was experimenting in my book a little, I will refrain in the other books) if I go over the spot, as you can see beside the cardinal. Copics do not blend as nicely. I can definitely use coloured pencils, but I'm guessing solvents for blending won't work so well...

Yeah, March came in like a lion for me too, MissM.
The weather turned from sunny to stormy which always affects me physically. Plus I was prepping for a work conference in San Francisco (That I didn't have to attend thankfully, just get stuff set up).
So today I woke up with the beginnings of a migraine and exhausted and just crashed all day. Ug!
kentuckydakota
03-04-2016, 09:52 PM
And Miss M, Your skating birds are wonderful! I love them!
I have trouble finding a medium that works well on these pages too. I think mostly I use my inktense watercolor pencils and either activate them with a not too wet brush or a light color Copic, but yeah, too much wet is a pilly mess. The paper is made for sketching- pencils, chalks, charcoals, pen and ink. It doesn't even erase well. Some day I'm gonna replace the paper in my moley with a nice sturdy vellum before I mail it out.

I used clear gesso on mine. Didnt like how it soaked in. Didnt in Iridesent888 book.
So far Iridesent888 book has been taking acrylic paint (by folkart), colored pencil (prismacolor) , water color pencil (royal), ink pens (by micron and sharpie) and matte meduim (golden) vary good not a problem at all.
I think its working good because I let one layer of paint dry completely before paint again with blending colors.
Miss M cool ! love all of it! Love the I belong too page!!

I can tell what many peeps used by looking back at the photos, but I wonder what Tandy used?
I believe Tandy used watercolor and ink on her Crustacean spread. ;) On her sign in pages she used watercolor and ink and then used Inktense pencils around the banners and an Atyou Spica glitter gel pen (by Copic) in "Lipstick" on the dotted line and on the "X".
Tandy has been known to use Copic/Prismacolor markers in Moleys (see my Circus Fat Lady for Moley #22--picture in my gallery and on the thread). However, she mostly uses watercolors and ink.
I don't know why I am talking in the third person, but it was kind of fun to do so.:twitcy:
