If you think 3 heads are better than one when it comes to making ATCs this is the place for you.

We are a fun group of ATC makers who like to spread the making of ATCs around to more than one person.

Here is how to get started……………..

First you sign up in the thread and tell us what themes you do not want so I can add your name to the list in the 1st post.

Next you PM your mailing address and any dislikes to me so I can add it to the address list. I will update this list as players come and go or change their status.

If you wish to take a break from playing at any time all you need to do is post in the thread if you want to let everyone one know and send me a pm so I can make it official by changing the list. I will move you to the HOMERS ONLY section of the address list until you ask me to change it. This way you will still get any you have started that have been completed by others but you should not get any new ones. If you do get new ones, please let me know in a pm.

To keep cards from being sent to inactive players I will move you to the HOMERS ONLY section of the address list if you have been inactive on the site for a month. Once you become active again you can pm me and ask to be placed back into active status.

And here is how a Round Robin works…………

Player 1 starts it off by starting 3 cards. These cards need to be more than a preprinted background. Please put something on them. On the back please put ATCS FOR ALL RANDOM ROUND ROBIN or AFA RANDOM RR at the top (so we know where it came from as there are 2 round robin groups) along with at least your user name. Mail all 3 cards to Player 2.

Player 2 will work on the cards. Add at least your user name to the back. Mail all 3 cards to Player 3.

Player 3 will finish the cards. Add at least your user name to the back. Keep 1 card and mail the other 2 back to Player 1.

Player 1 will keep 1 card and mail the other one to Player 2.

VERY IMPORTANT ~ Please remember to look at the most current list before sending cards to anyone to make sure they are still playing.

EQUALLY IMPORTANT ~ Please check what cards a player DOES NOT WANT. Do not send unwanted themes to anyone as they must pay to send them on to someone else .

If you get a set of cards and you have no idea what to do with them, just send them on to someone else.

Feel free to post eye candy whenever you want. Part of the fun of being in a Round Robin is seeing who is doing what. You can post them when you get them before you add anything, after you have added something or when you get a completed set. If you don't have a scanner or are not sure how to post them it is ok. Posting is not a requirement to join and have fun. There are no Round Robin Police sent to visit if you don't!

And you never have to say who you are sending to unless you want to.

And last but not least…………

iTraders: They are fun to give and fun to get so please remember them. Once you have a completed card you can give them to both the other players. When giving them you are the trade.

I've had my eye on that post count for a while, so I knew we'd be moving up soon - can't believe we're on 9 already. I didn't join until about 5 or 6, but even so...

I know.

I took over May 2012. I know some of you have been around longer than that!

Still enjoy it all and I am looking forward to when I can come back and play some more.

I really want to count how many round robin cards I have..............

How about the rest of you? Any body have a good guess as to how many cards they have?

lindagiese

I have well over 1000 trades of atcs around the world, but that includes a few other groups before atcs for all and individual trades before discovering rr's and of course in person trades at clubs, with family and friends and at conventions.

No idea how many cards I have - lots - but I had a look at my ring binder that has RR cards in it (see photo) and did some quick maths...

There are 23 full pages in this notebook (I didn't count the ones which were partially full). A full page has 9 pockets, but cards facing both ways, so 18 cards per page. 23x18 is 414. Plus some cards in pages which aren't full, some waiting to be put away, a few on display, a few next to my computer waiting for me to do iTrader - I have around 450 RR cards. I have several other ring binders full of other ATCs, of course, so no idea how many ATCs and APCs I have in total - well over 1000.

How about the rest of you? Any body have a good guess as to how many cards they have?

OK, you know what? I am old and am losing my memory, lol. Or else time is zipping past or something. Out of curiosity, I went back to look and see at what point I joined this round robin, and apparently, it was in the first thread (after MaryAnn took over) - right near the end before we moved to thread 2. That was January 2013... The rest, as they say, is history.

So there you go!

Yes it is. Lots of fun times.

I don't think we are the only ones....................

Because I am curious now, when I have more time I will compare the 1st list to the current one and see how many are on both!! I think there are quite a few of us................

I was curious how katelnorth knew when she started doing crrr. So I did my own search. I joined AFA 7-14-2102. I signed up for jams now called crrr 7-21-2012. I have never gone on homers even once. I just keep plugging along. I have no idea how many I have but I have them sorted by finished themes. I say finished themes because they start out often a blank slate

Ooooopsie... I thought I came to the group much later, but apparently I've been part since thread #1! ^^°
I joined on 09-07-2012. Also did a quick calculation of the cards in my binder and it looks like I have exactly 197 cards. :D

katelnorth

I'm kinda sad, I know. I just looked for old CCRRR threads and then searched for posts under my own name - I kept going back until I found the joining one.

I also have never gone on homers, though once in a while I took longer than I'd like to turn stuff around.

I have several cards I need to do something with.

I mailed some homers and am in the process of giving iTraders. With the 2 hour rule it is going to take some time to get them all given.

And I have 2 sets I need to add something to and send on.

katelnorth
03-31-2018, 04:59 AM
I too have a stack of cards which need attention. Some of them have been worked on and need to be sent along, either with other things or on their own. I have a few more waiting to be worked on as well - I have two weeks off and although I'm away to Lisbon for a few days, the rest of the time is my own, so I have high hopes for catching up. Woohoo!

Allegrae
03-31-2018, 06:19 AM
I'm not sure how long I've been on the CRRR threads, but I'm growing cobwebs. I went on homers when I moved from California to New York, but I've otherwise been here for several years.

BluSkyHare
03-31-2018, 08:23 AM
I also have a pile of cards to work on and homers to itrade and to send out. Yay! So much happy mail the last couple of weeks--thanks guys!!
So far, I think I've been pretty quick with getting them off my table and back into the Kafka-esque machine known as the USPS. But I may be slowing down a bit on the turn-arounds....we just moved my 86 yo mother-in-law into our home. She needs hands-on care now and has mobility and cognitive issues, so time at the art table will be a bit harder to find.
But, still keep sending me cards---they make me so happy! :)

Productive weekend............

I have some finished ones ready to mail, patterns for what I have to work on and maybe some to start for myself as I move back to active.

I took time this weekend to organize all my ATCs by various categories in the boxes my good friend Jr Hower made me several years ago. I have 6 boxes and they are almost full so I need to find someone who can make me more as he passed away 16 months ago. I sure do miss him.

And because I could I counted every single card I have. The final count including ones I have made and could not bear to part with and the ones I made an extra of for myself when I joined swaps in the beginning is 2309. I have 201 Round Robins. That makes a total of 2510 cards............ my 1st thought is what is going to happen to all of them when I am gone or not competent enough to deal with them???????????

I am kicking around the idea to offer the made ones I can part with as PIF and MMH if they fit. Not sure yet still thinking on it.

Off to send an update. I will edit with who does not get it in a few minutes!

Update sent! Gumbek did not get it!

Hello, I am reading this and like what I see.

Can I possibly Join this Round Robin ?

xstitcher
04-06-2018, 05:03 PM
You certainly can!

Send me a pm with your name and address, I will add you to the list and send you a copy then you can start playing.

If there are things you really don't want to see on a round robin put it in the pm and I will show it as a dislike. Some of our players have things like nudity, religious, holidays, scary stuff, dark stuff

Once you get a copy of the players list you will see what I mean and if you want to add something to the list let me know and I can make changes.

I worked on some sets today, and I have plans to send one envelope to Prayer at night. I do realize this a random thread. but I have a fishing and a boxing themed set that needs a 3rd. I cant mail tomorrow, I will be busy. I have a job interview with the city of Phoenix. Down town and it is a long long day. a video a writing test. an board interview.
Then a commute home before rush hour.

I did check the dislikes and see the person who dislikes sport is safe from me as they are on homers. The sets are very vintage or traditional.

Just post if you think you would love them.

The job interview went fine. There were about 50 folks interviewing for the job, I read there were 3 positions and the lady who interviewed me mentioned 5 positions. So there is a chance they will pick me.

My husband gets out of the hospital Friday the 13th. He went in Friday March 16th. So 4 weeks of super care by awesome nurses. He went to the pits of hell and back, But he is looking so much better. He will be considered disabled for one year, and needs a care taker for at least 100 days since the Zero day of his transplant so about the 4th of July.
He cant drive, go in crowds, and we he seems to have about 12 medications that are making him take daily anti rejection, anti seizure, Oh and he now has to take insulin 4 times a day. UGH, he wasnt diabetic when he went in but the steroids and some of the drugs mess with that. They do believe he should be ok and get off insulin in time. Well he and I are now going to be eating very low carb diet. He lost about 15 pounds while he was in there.

But I will mail off those cards to you Ferretgirl.

ferretgirl
04-12-2018, 12:50 AM
What kind of transplant did he have, CastleQueen? I guess I have been out of the loop; didn't know anything about it. Wishing him a good recovery. Do you guys have pets? I know when my friend had a triple transplant they told her no NICU kitten tending during the first year. Thanks for sending those to me=)

CastleQueen5
04-12-2018, 12:57 AM
He got a stem cell transplant from a 28 year old male donor in Germany to cure his bone marrow cancer called MyelioFibrosis aka MPN. It was a small bag of blood with 7.94 million stem cells in it. It took 45 minutes (adding on the 8 months to get to that point) so the transplant was the easy/fast part. He had to have chemo which was the to hell and back part.

ferretgirl
04-12-2018, 02:54 AM
Oh, wow. Isn't modern medicine amazing sometimes? Yeah, chemo is almost as bad as the cancer is. Well, best wishes to you both...

CastleQueen5
04-12-2018, 12:00 PM
That is the thing I have been saying that modern medicine is so amazing. They can do so much now days. They can look at your genes and tell you what went wrong. For instance they said some broke of gene 21 and cause 5 and 8 to mutate. I think even 20 years ago someone like him would just die a painful death as the disease took over and they would and I mean maybe they would do something about the pain but maybe not.

mrubyjean, you have me beat for time in the group! I think I joined in 2011 and took over the group maintenance in May 2015. (coming up on 6 years soon).

Off homers and have a few to work on. Many stitched and in the next few days going to attach them all and send them on their way to new homes or 3rd players. I forgot how much fun it is while I was sitting on homers working on samplers for family things.

I am caught up and my new plan is to stay that way!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have a set up now that makes it easier to work on and finish them. Before I had to drag out the old iron and ironing board. Now they are easier to access.

I have some homers and some that need a 3rd player going to the post office by Monday.

I have 2 from the ladies who send cards but choose not to join us. I hope I sent them to players who are ok with working on them. If not please forgive me and send them back to me next time you have something coming my way.

I have a new pattern book, thank you Castlequeen5, that I want to make some starters from as soon as I can.

Also, I got a message from a stranger on my facebook page, telling me that she had an envelope address to the UK in her mailbox in NY! Don't really know why she contacted me, and didn't just take it to her PO with a Return to Sender, but she was very nice and I asked her to do just that.
But really----NY?! does a UK code with 6 digits of numbers and letters look like a US code of 5 numbers?! How does this happen?! And what about the US Global stamp on it?!
Anyway, once I get it, I'll resend it out. :twitcy:

I might have brought this up a long time ago, I thought about it anyway………….

Is there any interest in stitching on a card I start? It could be a 3 person round robin or a 2 person buddy card depending on the interest.

This works in my head like this……..

I would cut the fabric larger than 2 ˝ x 3 1/2 , marking the area where we stitch and stitching something to get it started.

Person 2 (who volunteered to be person 2) would stitch whatever they want and send the fabric and their information or stickers to person 3 instead of attaching to the cards.

Person 3 (who volunteered to be person 3) would do their stitching.

Since I have the stuff to finish the cards I thought it might be easiest if person 3 sent everything to me to finish the back, size them and send a completed card back to each person.

Unfortunately the “random” part would be removed and only those requesting the cards would get them since not everyone might want to participate.

Another thought, if someone wants to give it a try but does not have floss I can include some with the fabric in the beginning.

Comments, thoughts, ………….. volunteers……… I have lots of ideas for starters and the fabric to get started.

I think it is ok to say who you are sending to. The random part is more about the idea that you dont have to list a set of cards and get permission to mail it to someone. But we do need to look at the dislikes on the address list in our pms.

I've had some sets in, and have a bunch to work on - luckily, I also have a week off! Working in a school is very tiring much of the time, but I do enjoy having all my half-term holidays to recharge and do art. It won't be today, as I am going to a charity football (soccer) game held in memorial for the son of a friend who died nearly two years ago - he's the same age as my eldest daughter; they were in primary school together, so she's coming too. And after that cheery event, it's a friend's birthday barbecue and drinks - we'll need it by then...

Anyway, originally signed on to say to bluskyhare that I did receive (and it was like a week ago - sorry) the envelope which says "P.O. Please don't send to New York". So you can breathe easy on that one, lol.

Cross stitch is always fun, that reminds me that I need to finish my current project.

Sent out a bunch of envies today.

Sorry I haven’t been on lately! In March I had surgery on both knees and it put me in a wheelchair for seven weeks, and of course that is when my surface decided to break, my desktop was unreachable, too narrow of a walkway. Tons of post in yesterday - envelopes from castlequeen, bluskyhare, cinlan and lindagiese all in one day. Today, I am finally making some inroads into some rr's which have been sitting on my desk for way too long. (I've been busy and wanted to get PAT swaps done first - and swap my own swap out). Anyway, here's the first finished set (I've worked on some others, but not to finish, just to add):

195704

These were worked on by prayeratnight, then castlequeen, then me. The tags are from teabags which I bought when on holiday in Lisbon this year and I've attached them so they swing loose - that doesn't show in the scan.

These are on the way back to Sarah later today or tomorrow, along with a set to work on as third player, and some starters.

Here's another one I've just finished up - just realised after I started working on them that they also have to go back to prayeratnight (so I'll be unsealing that envelope, lol). Or, alternatively I could just keep them all and tell Sarah and Martha (mrubyjean) that they got "lost in the post". What do you think? (My silly way of saying, I really love these...)

Okay folks I know this is late in the Round Robin Swap but question : I have not yet made any "Starters" to send to someone, but I have already worked on/sent some cards out from others who have sent to me. Should I

(I believe I answered my own question after thinking about, yes I should make some starters! and send to someone)

Thanks for your reading

roadbike - go for it! There's no law that says you HAVE to make starters and send them to someone, but it's fun to see what other people do with your cards, so I'd say if you don't make some, you are missing out :)

A lot of us try to combine postage (especially if we are mailing internationally) and put a starter set in with something else we've worked on, to send to the next person.

Okay Mailed out a Set As Player 3, but did not "Player 3 will finish the cards. Add at least your user name to the back. Keep 1 card and mail the other 2 back to Player 1." < Did not do that, sent all 3 out. My Mistake!

It takes awhile to get the hang of it so we won't hold it against you...…………...yet

Just try to keep in mind...…..

if yours is the 2nd name on the card...…..you send all 3 to someone else

and

if yours is the 3rd name on the card...…..you keep 1 and send the other 2 back to the 1st name on the card.

I am sure lindagiese will send one back to you...…….unless they are so super fantastic she loves them all then she can use a "lost in the mail excuse" :biglaugh:

Just kidding Linda, I know you would not do that!!

I am sending one set of completed cards back to the starter and 2 sets to a 3rd person (2 different people). I think that is the fastest I have ever gotten cards completed. I am trying to get to them faster and so far it seems to be working.

I hope to get some more things worked on today or tomorrow - I don't have a lot waiting but I do have some. Only one new envelope in this week, so the stack isn't breeding as much as it usually does, lol.

I am currently working on the cross stitch cards - I have one finished (well, not finished, but what I am adding is finished), one mostly done and the third not yet started. I was making good progress, but had to stop to put the binding on a quilt which I am putting in a local quilt show. That's done now, so I can get back to the little cards.

Ooh, let's see this quilt, I hear you say (ok, maybe not, lol, but you're getting it anyway!). It's actually much brighter than this in person, but I'm struggling with the light.
