Swap Due Date: SEPT 5th, 2018 this the due date not the mail by date.

Number of Cards: 5 for 5 (Sorry I just like the number 5)

Number of Participants: 20 ish committed, artists, who will communicate and participate. No lurkers for this swap.

Box of Bountiful Backgrounds Boomering Back: B5 Mixed Media Collage

If you withdrew from any recent Trash to treasure swaps or similar type swap, even if the host didnt give you a neutral, please dont request a spot for this round. There is a limited number of envelopes and many artists want to play.

This is a no withdrawal swap, I will leave neutral itrader to those who don’t complete the commitment to this swap. No cards, no contact , mailing after mail by deadline may result in neutral itrader.

So for this swap I am sending you 6 backgrounds that I started. Most are very collage like in nature. Think scrappy. You need to be able to take a photo of the backgrounds I send you. This way you can show a before and after photo to the group. Links to other photos sites will work, posting to the gallery here, or adding photos to this forum all work.

You create a masterpiece on each background, post your after photos and mail them back. This is 5:5 and the extra one is just in case you want to make a hostess card, or for errors or artist blocked muses.

I took photos of examples. They are for the most part chipboard scrappy backgrounds with an image here or there. So you are not just getting paper slips.

I am fairly certain that these are already cut to the correct size, so writing about size seem silly. All size errors would be mine anyway. You are allowed to cut the cards into houses, or dolls as long as the size stays the same. No coins.

Mailing info USA players. Please post in the thread when my envelope to you arrives.
It will cost me 71 cents to mail out this envelope to you. Instead of you sending me SASE to get the backgrounds, I will mail them off in good faith, but would really appreciate the reimbursement of my initial mailing costs.

USA PLAYERS please, provide a large preferably sticky address label and return postage or 71 cents. I suspect you all will need to send one forever stamp and one extra ounce stamp for the 5 cards. Extra postage is always welcomed to help defray the cost of the international postage. Thank you in advance.

If you want or prefer your cards hand canceled, please include a note, and include the extra 21 cents stamp.

If you, yourself have sent cards that need to be hand cancelled please include the extra ounce 21 stamp for each card that needs to be hand cancelled. Since the cards would be sent to 5 different players. I don’t mind going to the PO to get cards hand cancelled.

Mailing INFO International Players
My cost to mail the envelop to you will be $1.15

It will cost me $1.15 to mail back your cards, in a 1 ounce letter. To cover costs both ways, I can take paypal, 2 US global stamps. Well hidden $2. And in some cases I can trade you for your countries postage, Canada, AU, France, UK, Since I join swaps hosted by international hosts. Contact me about your choice.

Other costs for international players.

If you want or prefer your cards hand canceled, please include a note, and include the extra 21 cents stamp or equivalent.

If you, yourself have sent cards that need to be hand cancelled please include the extra ounce 21 stamp equivalent for each card that needs to be hand cancelled. Since the cards would be sent to 5 different players. I don’t mind going to the PO to get cards hand cancelled.

Posting in this forum that you got your envelope, posting that you mailed and posting that you got your returns is an expectation for this swap. No silent swappers. Please do not make me track you down to get an update. We want to see you joining us in our journey.

* Please send each card in a protective plastic sleeve, individual or you can use a 3 side by side baseball sleeve. Either way is fine. If you send a baseball sleeve with your address label on it, I will do my best to return that to you with cards inside.

ABOUT RETURNS
* When you receive your returns, please post in the swap thread that your cards arrived, Then please, leave iTrader for me and rep points for the artists. It is always nice to tell the players which cards you received too. Again no silent swappers.

So your read to here? How to join.
1. Post in the thread that you are willing to post before and after photos OR willing to read the FAQs to learn how to post before and after photos. OR that you know how to use flickr.com or photobucket or similar for links to photos of before and after photos.

AND

2. State you are sending me your mailing address in a PM, or state that you are in the CRRR and that the host (me) already has your address.

The first 3 envelopes addressed. They weighed less than an ounce. I then slipped in something for you. It is not nec to use it in the swap for any reason. Just a way to spread the love, or something like that.

Thirdly--I love corrugated cardboard. Just saying.... ;)

yes, I really did make all those cards over time. I sorted them. NEEDS more works was one category. a section of collaged backrounds is what I am sending folks. because of this swap I sorted out 23 envelopes with 6 cards each. 138 cards that I plan to give away.

They are in the envelopes already, I did them once when I was watching the diamondbacks.

I will get these envelopes off in Saturdays mail. When you get them you can post photos as early as you want, since the cards are not the same and you wont ruin the surprise for anyone.

I cant imagine, having 4. You should send me one to challenge me. I like challenges.

Another swap I thought about hosting is a remodeling swap. You take 3 cards from your gallery that have been unclaimed and you make it better and send it in. Remodeling. I have some cards set aside for that. Sad lonely cards.

Do you have any idea how much I lamented over my 1/2 of coffee I couldnt finish? I even tried micrwaving, but it just hurts too much to swallow.

When I got back from the doctors I thought about reheating it again. I told myslf no dump that down the drain it has been sitting too long.

So I took a nap after, piece of toast and applesauce. I needed something on my tummy for the Advil. I put one of those microwavable heating pads on my neck and hear and I took a 3 hour nap. Only woke up cause the dogs wanted to go outside and were whining.

I feel better the advil helps. the heating pad helps, but it doesnt last 3 hours.

Yes, do a before photos. and an after.

As far as altering, I figure you do have to cover at least some parts. I didnt address that question in my original rules. I dont want to alter the rules now. hahha alter. I could envision someone painting, gesso-ing, glittering. It would be nice if some part of the original background. Could you see someone ripping everything off or covering it with a new piece of paper? That isnt the spirit of the swap. Bottom line, they are yours now, do what you will.

CQ, could you please respond to post #47 and #48?

I feel like I already answered this in post 43, but I can see the difference in the questions. So I will reply to each post.

Sorry I have been very sick since Sunday. I am now starting to feel better BUT, and this is a big butt, my husband is now ill with a high fever. We have to go back to the Cancer institute daily for a bag if Antibiotics. I will be there Friday for about 4 hours and Saturday. They are doing all kinds of tests to find out where the infection is. They think it is viral. Some test results are pending.

So yes, you can post photos now of what was in your envelope. I do think others would like to see what challenges others have been given. We would love when you are done for you to again post the before picture so we can compare. And praise you for making such a brilliant card from an obvious scrappy background.

I hope you are are not scare away by the scrappiness of them. I really needed to downsize. So thanks for making something beautiful from my mess

I think I have updated all those who have told me that the envelop has arrived.

I got things updated. I did mail out envelopes before I headed back over to the hospital aka cancer center this am.

They just happened to have a 2 relaxing yoga classes for cancer patients or survivors*, while I was waiting for him. I did both. One was mild stuff with breathing, and the other was a lot of lying down while she played with a gong and some bowls. The first bowl, I thought someone was mowing the lawn. I got used to the noise and it seemed to help clear out my glogged ear.

In case you didnt know I get FREE yoga and art classes for the rest of my life. I was given a card for it 3 years ago for breast cance. I never went. It is kind of far away in this big city. Well now I am there at least once a week. I finally started taking the exercise classes to help get through the caregiving of Paul. As soon as he can drive I could go back to work. Right now he needs a caregiver and a driver.

Paul has to go back Saturday Sunday and Monday. to get a bag of iv antibiotics, they also give him a Push shot in his Port of a different Drug. So I am skipping working at the food bank, I already called my co-worker, they will survive.
We are still waiting viral test results. They are checking to see if he has infection in his Port lines. He has 3 lines in his chest.

He most likely got this from me, although he isnt sick in the same body parts. Mine was throat and ear, his is lungs and fever.

**** I have never liked the word survivor, I didnt just survive, I overcame, I was a victor, I was a THRIVEr.

Gee, CQ5, you got a lifetime pass for yoga and exercise; I got permanent neuropathy in my toes and fingers. :-) Actually, that's a wonderful and really positive thing to do for cancer "survivors". I don't like that word either.

You sound so busy, especially looking after Paul. Good that you treated yourself to 2 yoga classes at the hospital. Keep taking good care of yourself, too!

CastleQueen5
06-22-2018, 07:26 PM
it was a new kind of yoga for me. A weird name.
Kundalini, I have never heard of it. Oh and the second class was Yoga Nidra gong/singing bowls.

I am taking an abstract art class when he has to go Monday.

I got 25 of those "free" tickets to the circus in the mail addressed to my husband's business. They are such a scam cause the adult tickets are pricey and the circus is cheesy, outdoors and hot. Yep I took my kids once.

Tips that might inspire you.

When you are stuck on these backgrounds. Add a flower, add a word or quote, add a gem, add a border, add an image. use some texture paste with a stencil or the like, Ink the edges and watch how that completes the card. I have some of the Nuvo drops, they are my new favorite tool. I have been adding dots to the edges of my cards. You can see some of my examples in my gallery.

I did go to the exercise class, It was Qigong, I think. Like tai chi. It wasnt too hard, but it did help you move, relax, breathe. I am getting the idea the classes are more about being mindful, and breathing and learning to de-stress.

CastleQueen5
06-23-2018, 04:59 PM

So we did this meditative walk, and I could see I was wound up. I have a long way to go to get those energies in line. I did attempt to guide the energy to my neck and throat. Then my right heel. Cant say it helped much. But the gong class yesterday seemed to open my ear right up. Then it was bad again this am. I will go see my primary Monday, as they requested I come back for a follow up.

Yes, when I knew I was going to host this, I bought 25 tiger stamps. They cost a little extra, but I like the tiger and I am glad to donate to the cause. I also thought some of you might like to add the stamp to your art, for this or for any swap.

Then I swear the circus tickets came along about the same time, so I just wanted to add a bonus. I mean where else can I get rid of 25 tickets of such an ephemeral nature, and have it be appreciated.

I agree, Java, the busy backgrounds were a little intimidating to me, but I just focused on colors, or one thing on the card and started from there. I finished my 2nd and made 2 more just this morning!
I'm trying to use only old scraps and leftovers to keep with the spirit of the backgrounds, but I did use some PIF tidbits I recently received, too (I'm sure they'd been hanging around the artists room for awhile, too, so that makes them "count" in my mind!)

You will do great. I know you will, and we will all ooh and awe! I know I said this before but again, Just add something till it looks done. add an image, add a gem, add a flower, add a postage stamps, add words or a quote, add a butterfly. add a border. add washi tape. add lace.

If all else fails add a cat, lots of folks like cats. Add some paint, add some modeling paste, ink the edges, Gesso over the background and add some paint if you really need to hide the business.

I am glad I can challenge you. I so love to be challenged in these swaps. I think I get in a rut sometimes.

Heather you are really GOOD at making backgrounds! It must have taken ages to make all of these!

I tend to make backgrounds when I am cleaning up and clearing off, I take the odds and ends and glue them to already cut backgrounds. Then I save them for a rainy day. I just had soooo many, and I knew I might die before I could use them all up in the next 20 years. I also make Magpie journals with my desk top clearing off days. One is coming up soon cause I seem to have lost stuff below my mess on my desk.

You are all doing so well with the started backgrounds. And they were random. I put 6 in an envelope and did try to make sure you didnt get 2 that were too similar.

TAD on the butterfly card next to the minion, I see the sequins, which look like some I bought from stampin up!. Are they the same item? I think I paid $7 for a few sheets in various colors. I just loved the colors. They have sticky backs so they are easy to adhere to papercrafts After I got the general idea, I went to the Dollar tree, bought some packets of sequins in every color they had, and bought some micro glue dots. I have been kind of sequin crazy since then. Before this product I didnt use any kind of sequin because they didnt stick to the cards.

Oh my If I tell you about magpies, I might be guilty of contributing to the stash of a hoarder.

It is a junk journal. You know how magpies collect all kinds of shiny stuff. Well it is just a journal to add those bit and pieces into and you have a fun journal.

I googled and found my friends you tube page. She lives in Michigan.
She actually has birds in her, but the magpie journal isnt really about birds, but about us as magpies collecting stuff art

That magpie journal is a gloriously dangerous idea for me...my trend has always been to collect too much "just in case" and then keep too much "just in case" and then move things from the trash pile to the keep pile "just in case," and I think you've just given me my JUSTification to step up my habits.

I think I finished my cards tonight; they did end up harder than I imagined because I was so reluctant to detract from the existing backgrounds!! Four I'm 99% sure are done, one might need another focal point near the top to balance it out, and the last one just looks a bit tortured; I kept adding layers then taking them off, then adding words which were unremoveable, then adding more layers to try to cover them up before taking off another few pieces for totally obstructing the background. I'm hoping that I'll wake up with sudden inspiration, but if not, I'm afraid that you'll be using it as another background for a future B5 swap, CQ....!

I do see that the international players are still waiting.

I have asked to have this swap moved from Open to Active. I have one extra envelope in case NY Junkie might want to play or I need to mail a second set or something. But think it is best to close up the swap. I dont want to get too big, it makes it hard to swap out on a flat surface.

CastleQueen5

I see a magpie journal as taking the stuff I have already saved for some unknown reason beyond I see an art project in everything, and using said items in a meaningful and fun way.

I do not try to collect more stuff on purpose for the journals. It just happens.

JavaZarf
06-29-2018, 08:23 AM
I think it is ok to detract from or mostly cover up the original background.
I am treating them as a jumping off point and idea prodder. Looking at textures and colors for ideas.
I am treating them as if I had made the backgrounds myself.
Some things work and some things don't.
Sometimes the result is far from the starting point.
I had some loose pieces on a couple of my backgrounds. I removed and saved them.
I may or may not put them back, depending on what I end up making on top of the backgrounds.

I don't have a magpie journal I have a magpie life.
I even have a magpie collection of journals that I do not work in.

Got home today from my week away with my year 6 pupils (it was great - good weather all week and totally busy and full of activities all week; the kids were excellently behaved and had a fab time and even went to sleep by about midnight every night (they were probably too tired to stay awake being silly)). I am SO TIRED :) And that's after a little nap this afternoon :)

Anyway, my backgrounds were waiting - I'll post a scan of the befores for now, but I doubt I'll get to them this weekend. Maybe next week. This weekend I think I'm going to sleep. lol. (Ok, we have friends coming to lunch tomorrow so it won't be all sleeping, that's for sure.)

CreativeK, your cards are fantastic - you did a magnificent job with those backgrounds! They're all so well done, but I especially love Parcel Post - your additions worked so well with that background!

I'm still waiting for my backgrounds. I was hoping they would come today, because we don't have Saturday mail delivery and Monday is Canada Day so no mail will be delivered again until Tuesday. I'm starting a job on Tuesday (temp office work, but full time for the next month or so), so won't have as much time for my ATCs for awhile. I was so hoping I could work on the background cards over this long weekend before starting work. But I guess it wasn't meant to be.

Thanks Nanavan for your very kind and encouraging feedback! I had a lot of fun trying to make the backgrounds work and become part of something new and wonderful and feel like they were always meant to be that creation in the first place.

It's a bummer about the mail deliver not happening on Saturdays :( ...It will be fun when you can get to them!

BluSkyHare - I am so impressed with what you did with those backgrounds. When I saw the first background, I thought it looked finished already - and then you added another cat and flower and oh my, I want that card! All of your cards are wonderful - that last one is truly masterful!

I'm both looking forward to receiving my backgrounds and a little fearful at the same time...

I have updated. Thanks for posting the your finished works. I am so blown away about how fantastic these have turned out.

Our first overseas set has arrived to Kate, so that is reassuring. Nanvan can you start greasing the palm of your mail carrier? We wont have mail July 4th. but these are not due til Sept I think.

CQ5 - I've never SEEN my mail carrier. I live in an apartment building and he or she must have a secret entrance to the building. We have a bank of boxes with keys in the lobby and the mail is put into our boxes from behind (must be a little room there, where the mail carrier sorts the mail into our slots). I would gladly grease their palm, if I could find them! Of course, the delay probably has nothing to do with the carrier, it's probably sitting in some sub station somewhere.

With a Sept. deadline, there's lots of time - I'm just eager to get my envelope, after seeing what everyone else is doing - what amazing transformations! It must be a lot of fun for you (Heather) to see what others are doing with your backgrounds!

thanks for the comments, everyone! I was pretty intimidated by the backgrounds, but then i just sat and looked at them for a few days. I noticed that #1 & #2 had a lot of open space, so I figured they should be added to, and luckily I could slip the kitty and the man behind the paper...#3 was perfect, so I just added a bit of color and 3 elements, and was done!
#4 background was so busy with many different colors, so I added a bit of gesso to tone it down, then I found the frog from my stash, and he was "dull" colored, so I thought he'd work well.
for #5, I focused on the pink and green colors, so I added pink watercolor, a scrap of pink patterned paper, then the rest!
had a lot of fun, that's for sure!

Tonight, I did something you would I think would make you really proud of me. I am proud of me.
I have small cheap photos albums and I organize those odds and ends paper. Today I was given 3 more. Now, I have one for People, one for Places, one of Flora, One for fauna. One that has birds and cats. Shapes, words, objects or things. etc

So I cleaned out some incoming envelope and stuff I die cut and punched myself. I made a bag of "I dont wants" and one for a magpie journal (which I started a new one today).

I was ALMOST done, and found one more envelope and thought I am just too tired. So tomorrow while I watch the Diamondbacks lose again, I will sort a few more things.

AND get this I am not mailing any of you my excesses, I am so proud of myself for not creating a new swap based on my cleaning.

Thanks for the nice comments. I found a book at the thrift store with Barbara Lavalee's art. She does wonderful Alaskan folksy type art - what I'd like to do if I had better drawing skills. It was fun to use a couple of pages from the book for these.
I adjusted Opera Student this morning. Decided he needed Do Mi So in his cartoon voice bubble and added some musical notes to his music (by hands) and some music notes on the card. I think my favorite is the Full Moon Journey Solo - I like how the background provided became both bright sky and water.
This is a great swap - I love seeing all the great work done.

I am on a group on the Bot, (swap-bot) and I often find someone wishing for my unwanteds. But the group is USA only.

I have plans to not join any more swaps and clean up my mess in that room. I have little piles everywhere.

These are all wicked awesome from everyone... what a fantastic swap. Jazzears, when I saw your first two, they actually made me think of Alaskan art (maybe partly also because I've been reading a series of mysteries set in Alaska?), so mission accomplished! Catching up with the thread chat. I had some time today to start on the backgrounds- I have 3 done already! I took the circus theme for two of them. Great cards, Bunnymther! I really like your space card!

CQ5 - I still haven't received my backgrounds - feeling really left out, since lots of people have already made cards...and you still haven't received my APC swap cards - do you think there's something wrong between Arizona post office and BC? Every day I run to my mailbox to look for my backgrounds and every day I rush to check the APC thread to see if you have received my cards ... your swap was the first time I made 6 cards instead of 3. Feeling discouraged. :-(

Agreed that those cards are amazing, bunnymther... super duper!!!

(Nanvan, I know this doesn't help, but hopefully it will reassure you a bit; I think the holiday here may be slowing things up lately. Dang sealing the envelopes is a good idea. Things can shift too much if you dont.

Today I cleaned out under my desk, things fall down. It isnt a desk it is an older style church banquet table that I bought at sams club years ago. And I cleaned out two tote backs I was stashing stuff in. Shame on me. And I sorted all my ding dang saved postage stamps and put them in my 3 ring binder. My Harry Potter pocket was empty, so I pulled the label off. Sad to see it go. I made a new pocket for Mr. Rogers.

I will check in tomorrow when the mail comes.

Two are ok but the third is - eh.
I would have started over but everything was already glued down to the background by the time I didn't like it.
I have plans for one more and the last two backgrounds will need seriously new ideas.
I had semi ideas that didn't come together satisfactorily.

Good job CQ5 on the cleaning, organizing and purging.
I wish I could finish my stuff. I have started several times but the quantity of items is overwhelming and usually I get tired or run out of time or get sidetracked and start making stuff with something I found.
The problem is I am saving too many things to play with when (if) I retire.
I did do one huge purge of easily parted with stuff. I filled my trunk stuff and took it to the thrift store.
But I need to do that about two or three more times because, for one thing, I keep adding to the stash.

Hey CQ5 - I also cleaned and sorted my art 'area' yesterday!

We have a very small house so I use the dining table (which we rarely eat at but often play cards at). My supplies had spilled over to the end table by the couch, the piano and the piano bench, on top of the dog's kennel and in one of the dining chairs. Of course, the table was near avalanche stage. I feel much better after getting stuff organized into binder sleeves, a milk crate and a rolling organizer. Now I can actually see what all I have (some of which I had forgot about buying).

Then after organizing my art space and watching the hubby and son do fireworks, I needed to do some art. So I sketched out cards for my next few swaps and got out your backgrounds for gazing at. They haven't told me what they want to be yet, but they will!

I see the cleaning bug is contagious. I Plan to clean more today. Then, I have a meditative type yoga class for cancer patients and survivors. I never liked that word. survivor It makes it sound like I "made it through" I survived. I consider myself a Thriver! but I am very stressed by Hubby's cancer. AND

We got the most amazing test results back from the Bone Marrow biopsy. I know that won't mean a lot to some of you. But lets just say the Stem cell transplant is working.
1. His Jak2 test was negative. A test for a mutation of the Jak 2 cells. He was on meds that cost $10k a month before the transplant. The drug company covered the cost.

2. His fibrosis in his bone marrow was 0-1 it was maxed out at 3 before the transplant

3. His chromosomal mutations are GONE, and he 6-8 chromosomal mutation or damages before the transplant.

We are so happy.

One of the female counter workers made copies of the envelopes, I was complaining about . Then gave the thing to the supervisor. The supervisor told the deliverer, that if she continued to take the time to cross my stamps, that she better show underages on her hours. Basically we are not paying you to take time to cross out cancelled stamps.

Please remember that part of this swap was contingent on the players sending me a postage stamps to cover my outgoing postage This way you dont have to waste time, money and envelopes to have you send a SASE to get the Backgrounds from me initially.

The swap info is probably worded better.

International players can send me Canadian and AU stamps in return. I will just use them in swaps hosted by Canadians and AU-ians.

Blueskyhare, your cards boomeranged back to me. Oh wow, thanks for a hostess card. It will be hard to choose just one. I like the gnome, and those are not very common themes. I always love cat cards. The man card, is great, and I do tend to collect men cards. I dont collect frog cards and I want that one too.

I do have one envelope left, JIC I need to do a resend.

You're probably thinking "just in case Nanvan's don't arrive" ...

I won't forget, CQ5!

Great news on Hubby’s test! Love hearing about all the different types of yoga classes you are attending-such variety!

Finished up my cards last night. Mailing off today. Upon first receiving them, I thought I would have to alter them a lot. But I ended up doing very little-some got paint in a section, A few I added one piece of paper, two got nothing. I’m quite pleased with how they turned out. Two became horizontal, which I usually try to avoid but the cards “told” me that’s what they wanted. Great swap!

Bunnymther, I love your cards! Fantastic job using the Tiger stamp. I think my favourite is the butterfly card - the earth has music - love it!

OK, I've finished my cards - yay! Here are the first two - the before on the left, the after on the right. I have tried to make cards where the background is still a significant feature of the card, rather than changing it to something unrecogniseable.

I did want to use something from the ticket you enclosed, as well, Heather. But although I played around with the word "circus", in the end I decided not to use it.

I really liked the way that the words on the background page went with the elephant card - it wasn't really planned that way, it just worked out - you can see the phrase '"Look," the prince repeated' and the phrase 'A few of the older children' - those two phrases go really well with the elephant, etc.

...and finally. The crossword puzzle card has a layer of thin tissue (with flowers) sealed down over the words before the crystal flowers were added. It created a very muted effect, and the card is very soft and subtle, but I think it worked out well.

The cards will go in the post in the next few days or so.

Those are great, katelnorth! I especially like how you labelled the little white boxes in one card and your elephant card is fantastic!

Thanks Nan - that card with all the little postage stamp side bits stuck on to it really stumped me at first. I didn't want to cover them up completely, but couldn't work out what to do with them...

Love the diamonds card especially, katelnorth!

I hope I included all the necessary postage, CQ. Let me know if I didn't, ok?
And glad you like the cards, too!

Great cards Kate, I liked the use of tissue paper over the words. You could mail your cards from America when you come if you want.

I might do that. But I will probably have RR cards to mail on before then anyway... I'll let you know whichever way.

We got 10 inches of rain today. We dont measure the inches of rain but how far apart the rain drops are.

Ok not really sure how much rain but we got a big thunderstorm and blowing dust, and wet stuff from the sky, and a few palm branches blew down. It went from 109F down to 69F, What a vast difference in temps. It is creeping back up to 75F Yeah the rains have come, it will cool off some at night.

CQ5 - mostly disappointed. I have never lost ATCs in the mail before. Once I dropped an envelope of cards for a swap outside the post office and never found them, so I withdrew from the swap. About 2 weeks later, the host announced that he had received my cards! Someone had picked them up and posted them from Oregon - I hadn't put postage on the envelope yet, and they even paid the postage. It was amazing. So, yeah, a bit disheartening to make cards, post them early and then have them disappear into the ether.

Your thunderstorm and temperature drop sound awesome - I love a good thunderstorm. Don't get many in British Columbia, but we used to get them a lot more often in Texas.

I had to go look to see where that amazing temperature drop was. Arizona...Now I understand better. Love Arizona. We are at the beach this week and it's amazing how much the temperature drops when the sun goes down. If anyone wants to use Google Earth we are staying right by Stump Pass State Park on Manasota Key. On the gulf coast of Florida.
