My husband and I live with our son and DIL and 3 teenage grandsons in one big rented house. Now the Landlord/owner wants to sell. We have to be out by November 30. Found a new rental in the next town over, and will start moving in on Nov. 15. Will be sure Aaeshelman and Notinkansas have my new address on that date. Anything sent to my current address after that date will be forwarded. I am unable to give out my new address until November 15.

Alyson, you will have my new address in time for the “mail by” date. Bluesky, I will probably want to mail the wood nymph to you a couple of weeks early - will PM you when I do.

Hopefully you got enough notice from your current landlord for this move to not be a hassle CiCi. Best wishes and many happy new memories in your new home!

We only got a couple months notice, but we’ve only been here for just under two years. So not as much accumulating as there might be (though it sure looks like a heck of a lot of boxes!) Thankfully my son is a great organizer/leader with a calm demeanor. Always telling me it will all work out. I am taking three big tote bags with my art stuff in the car with me so it doesn’t get lost, and it’s always fun to arrange and outfit a new craft room.

Jupiter Moon got a hippie bag with some DC souvenirs in it. It matches the under-layer of her skirt. I couldnt resist getting her some more things to take back home!

Girl after my own heart....just sayin...even in the middle of this move, I’m so into this swap!

The royal visit went well. Princess filigree was most gracious. Everyone loved meeting her. One co-worker suggested she needed gloves(queen Elizabeth II always has gloves). The princess had fun looking at all the jewelry. She really loved the sapphire pieces but decided pearls are fun and classy.

notinkansas
11-06-2018, 08:32 AM
What a fun picture! The pearls really do suit her!

CiCiCreates
11-06-2018, 01:32 PM
Yes, I do believe Her Highness is partial to pearls. She must love the Russian headdress and collar you made for her! Thanks so much for posting that cute picture!

Wow CiCi moving on such short notice is a pain. Glad you have plenty of help. I am still struggling with my bird so I won't be sending anything out early. I will wait for new address.

11-09-2018, 05:31 PM
Bluesky, I just mailed aaeshelman’s little forest nymph to you. It’s a few weeks early, I know, but I’m in the middle of lots of moving boxes and just thought it would be better to get it on it’s way to you. It should arrive on Tuesday, and I have PM’d you the tracking number.

Bluesky
11-09-2018, 08:51 PM
No problem... looking forward to receiving her. My store manager has requested an return visit of princess filigree as she missed her visit.

notinkansas
11-13-2018, 11:29 PM
I showed Bluesky 's doll and journal to my daughter. She loved them. She pointed out something to me that I need to clarify with Kristen. I only added to my paper doll what I did to the cloth doll. Should I have done each paper doll after mine so that the last person to get it will have a completed paper doll?

Bluesky
11-13-2018, 11:52 PM
If you would, I would appreciate it. I'm using the paper dolls to document her progression.

Aashelman.... question for you. Your nymph is becoming a colorful personality....your journal cover is black & white..can I spray some ink on it? I have tattered angel shimmer inks...they have a watercolor like effect...it can have a spattered effect not a solid swap of color. Probably a green color for a forest effect.)

Bluesky
11-22-2018, 09:40 AM

Aaeshelman, just reporting in that I received the bird and nest safely. This will be so fun! I think you forgot to include your name at the end of your journal entry - may I do that for you?

Bluesky
11-24-2018, 07:04 AM
Aashelman created the forest nymph, I currently have her. The birds are art junkie

CiCiCreates
11-24-2018, 11:24 AM
Yes, I received the nymph from Aaeshelman. While I was working on her, Aaeshelman was working on the birds from Art Junkie. So I just now received the finished bird from Aaeshelman. Isn’t that right? I hope I’m not confused.

notinkansas
11-24-2018, 02:10 PM

11-25-2018, 09:52 PM
So I have been out of town and off of technology for a while.

Blue Sky you may do whatever your heart desires to any of the possessions of the wood nymph. She is on a journey to find herself:jiggy:

NIK, could you please post the due date schedule? I’m sorry if I missed it here on the thread. Maybe it’s in a PM. Anyway, I did write it down and then misplaced it in the moving shuffle!

Bluesky
11-26-2018, 01:12 PM
Yes...I'm going to work with ink stains on hands.

CiCiCreates
11-26-2018, 04:54 PM
I found my schedule, all is good. I have Art Junkie's birds to work on, and I even have an idea and steps to take to proceed. My only concern is the size of the nest that five birds have to fit into. The heads alone are one thing, but when you get bodies on them and accessories to "identify" them, I'm not sure the nest will be big enough....not wanting to be fussy here, just honestly wondering.

notinkansas
11-26-2018, 06:48 PM
I really believe if it comes right down to it, Art_junkie will make a new nest!
;)

CiCiCreates
11-26-2018, 07:19 PM
Simple solution. I will probably just make mine and not put it inside the nest then.

11-26-2018, 08:55 PM
good to know she made it safely! Have fun!

Bluesky
11-26-2018, 10:13 PM
Don't put your journal down....we all have such different dolls and different perspectives on expressing ourselves. Trust me I'll learn something from yours. My book went insane out of necessity.....I bought the journal going great price, heavy paper, no sewing the book together, already tea stained/ antiqued.....started it and went bleep....I have a whole I mean a whole lot of empty pages. Oh bleepity!!! Mistakes can be great inspiration.

Bluesky
11-28-2018, 04:53 PM
I have bought pictures of the forest nymph to my job. My coworkers are absolutely loving her. My store manager loves her shoes(great job Cicicreates)!!!!! ( Should I mention I work at Macy's)

Bluesky
11-28-2018, 04:56 PM

CiCiCreates
11-28-2018, 05:24 PM
Can't wait to see them! Sounds like you work with fun people. I am just itching to start on my bird, but a few more room preparations are necessary, just a couple more days maybe, and then I can dig in!

Bluesky
11-28-2018, 08:45 PM
I do....they want to see all the dolls. Several of them bring me " art supplies"

notinkansas
11-28-2018, 09:15 PM
How fun Bluesky!

Got some ideas in the works for Princess Filigree....I love finding little things in my stash that I've "hoarded" over time that are perfect for these projects! Vindication!

Bluesky
11-28-2018, 11:09 PM
Now you can say....see, see I needed this!!!!

Bluesky
11-29-2018, 03:50 PM

The journal now. There is a dangle not in the picture. I found that forest nymphs are named after their forest. I found a forest named fernwood in your home state of Ohio. Radella means elven counselor (I'm sure she has some elven friends) So hello Radella Fernwood!

I have 2 questions for you all. 1) when is the date we mail next? 2) Bluesky- in your amazing book I see 6 paper dolls. Kelly left the first one as is and decorated the other 5. Do I leave the first and second alone, and put what I added on the 3,4,5 and 6 dolls? Also, do I decorate the 2 pages that are somewhat blank? I am not sure and your book is so amazing I want to keep it as you like it. I will post the photo of the black cape and opera glasses I made. Thanks !!

TherapeuticArt
12-16-2018, 10:38 AM
Here is Mlle Felicite with the Berlin Bear modeling her new black cape and opera glasses. Seems she came to DC without a coat and, this being winter, she was cold. She got a black velour cape with some opera glasses in case she gets invited to a ball or so she is ready for Carnivale in Venice. She is having a great time in DC, other than the wet weather that she has seen much of here!

CiCiCreates
12-16-2018, 12:39 PM
The cape and opera glasses are stunning! A very elegant addition! I would sure love to do her hair, but not sure how many are ahead of me. Of course it’s fine if someone else does it. (I just realized I will be the last to get her, so she will probably have hair by then).

Bluesky
12-17-2018, 06:06 PM
Smigden.....so love the Opera cape and glasses!!!!!! The way you posed her was fabulous!!! I see some fierce attitude! To the question of the paper dolls you are correct..leave doll 1 & 2 alone take doll 3 to 6 and add an representation of what you have done my doll. The idea is document her progression. Each section I left three pages for each artist to write on. If you write about some her adventures with you that would be awesome! (Since I ended up writing a mini fairy tale)

Kelly, just keep thinking how much better you will feel, and what an improvement it will be. Think of that during the physical therapy too. It’s all very worth it, and usually goes really smoothly, and people are so glad they did it. My husband had it done about three years ago, and I think the therapy was about 6-8 weeks, it’s hard to remember that long ago, lol!

Princess Filigree...
Will get to the PO on Thursday.

CiCiCreates
01-01-2019, 02:22 PM
Wow, what a pretty little Russian Princess! Love your thoughtful additions, Kelly! The little filigree “shoe clips” are wonderful, the hemline trim beautiful, and that lace is do delicate looking. Very fun and exciting! I didn’t really intend this, but she has what I see as a very mischievous expression, like she’s planning some scheme to dodge her bodyguards or security people and go have fun with the “locals”. I guess she is quite young and naive (but I’m sure she loves all her finery!)

notinkansas

Alyson, Frida has arrived safely in Arizona. It is unusually cold here, even for January. She felt fortunate that her trip did not fall in the Summer (when she'll be back home safely with Marilyn anyway). Her make-up looks fantastic. I think I already know what I want to add, and I'm trying to be considerate of players to come. I'm not doing jewelry, so that is one thing there is plenty of room for, and other DOTD type accessories!

Miss Jupiter Moon is traveling with a book of journal tags. This is the text for her stay in Santa Fe

Miss Jupiter Moon went native during her extended stay in Santa Fe, New Mexico. The first thing she did was get her hair put in dreads. The charms on her journal tag are other mementos of her visit. Turquoise. A chili pepper colored skull that represents the Day of the Dead celebrations she missed. The bone carved bead to remind her of all the East Indian doors and shutters one finds in Santa Fe. She had a small portrait done to reflect her recently discovered inner luminosity.

There is a curious lime charm. She will tell you that it represents her fondness for agave margaritas. However, this is suspect: the girl drinks like a fish, and that lime could easily represent all the Coronas with lime she consumed.

Santa Fe is littered with psychics, palm and tarot readers. Jupiter Moon went to several. Here she was told she had a past life in Santa Fe and here she was a mermaid. Miss Moon wasn’t convinced of the mermaid in the desert schtick, until it was explained that most of the area was ocean bottom 11 million years ago. Now she thinks otherwise. This judgement is suspect, see “drinks like a fish” comment above. She had a removable mermaid skirt made.

She learned that her name can be represented with astrological symbols and she got a small tattoo of them under her hairline. She leaves while there is still snow on the ground from Christmas and hopes she can return someday.

Princess Filagree is having a great time in DC. Since she came here fully dressed, with make up and hair done, she will be getting accessories. She charmed the State Department officials who issued her a US passport and she went to T Mobile and got a cell phone and stopped by Best Buy and got a camera. She is getting a big carry-bag to store them all in, and may find some other souvenirs to take with her on her journey!

I'm so glad you can be at home so soon. I didn't tell you this before, but my husband had to be in the hospital a full month following his knee replacement. That's because he contracted a horrible intestinal infection called C-diff (for short) in the hospital! He couldn't even get started on his physical therapy until this was taken care of. He was very sick with it. Pain is never fun to deal with, but just remember, this is normal, and it could be worse.

text for her book:

While visiting in New Mexico Felicite ingratiated herself with the Native Americans and was adopted into the Hopi Kokob Clan. The Kokob are the Burrowing Owl Clan and in a secret kiva ceremony, she was given her clan name: Qomahongnoma, affectionately shortened to Q’noma. Her name Qomahongnoma (feminine) translates to “Stands (tall)with Painted Face” and comes from Qoma, the root words pertaining from face painting and Hong, of the words pertaining to stands and rise up. Her name is a mix of Hopi language believed to be the words that refer to the line of Momchitu priests and warriors, both of whom belong to the Burrowing Owl Clan, and whose faces are painted in the typical colors of Hopi Warriors. They are a proud and significant clan.

Hopi Clans names are matrilineal, passing from mother to daughter. Q’noma’s host was Kaupovi, (WildRose) and she taught Q’noma the important and traditional craft of making pottery and shared with her the ancient legend of how pottery came to the Hopi.

Alyson, how about a painted fan, pearl choker, lace mitts (fingerless gloves), fancy shoes (mule style with a bow or rosette at the toe would be cute.
