ATCs For All Picture Profile .... 4" x 6" trade list

Welcome to Picture Profile site. New members, please ask to sign in.

This will be an ongoing swap. I will serve as the monitor of this thread, posting updates as needed, making corrections and answering any questions, etc., but trading will initiated by you with the other participants who have signed up. Please use your personal messaging system to work out your trade requests.

Since this thread will be ongoing you can sign up or drop out when you wish, trade when ever and with whom ever you want at any time.


What is a Picture Profile? Well in truth it's something I just made up...
It is a one sided card about you. With a photo, a little art and a little info... made to fit in a purchased photo album with 4 x 6 pockets.


There will be some basic guidelines to follow:

1. The Picture Profile card size is 4 x 6 the standerd size of most photo album pockets these days(if someone has the smaller size that's ok too, but please let us know when you sign up).

2. Front Only ....You can not see the backs in most of these albums so they are one sided.

3. Put your Username and a little info about yourself on the front. The profile has some ideas .... my favorite would be "your likes" and "where" you live. If you want something in particular ask when you set a trade up.

4. Traders have different likes and dislikes so I'm giving three themes to list
.... if you really want a photo(PHOTO)
.... artist self portraits (portrait)
.... zetti me portraits (zetti) ............ pick one two or all three of these

5. The Artist will have to make one of the themes you select or not trade with you.
If I do not list a theme it means all three are good!

6. Sign up and contact someone (pm) to set up a trade.

This sounds like fun! I'm not sure I understand completely. For example I do ok with the photo thing but not so well at hand drawn art and zetti is really new to me also. Do I chose a style for my picture profile and then people trade me for it?

Ok you collect any of the above. And when you set up a trade just make sure the other person is not collecting only the self portrait or zetti. I think most people would be happy with a photo. But some people may want a more specialized album and that is fine too. Lildebi and I are both collecting all three ... so I did not list themes next to our names.

Another note .... In our trade (set up in pms) I asked to recieve a profile that includes the place lildebi lives and maybe have the art show her favorite flower, bird or animal .... but it can still be a photo, self portrait or zetti. And she mention my pet so I had my husband take a phot of me with my cat today and I'm going to make her a profile with a kitty theme.

Welcome Cheeka!!!! We are setting up trades in PM's Those willing to have photos, self portraits and zetties all three will not have a theme next to their names. Hiya Ladies, I do plan on trading with all of you (of course!) But at the
moment I'm a bit overwhwlmed so be patient with me please. I thought I would get everything done this weekend on the collage-a-thon but never even touched my swap commitments, so I spent my art time today and yesterday working on those. I may be going out of town Thurs Fri Sat and hope to do the c-a-t this weekend if I'm home. So I will get these profiles done. I am so happy that we are getting people to sign up. Are you setting up trade between yourselves? any questions? feel free to share what you are working on. Also feel free to point out things you think would work better, this is all a learning process.

Very interesting concept. I am thinking that it would be wonderful to have a book of all my art friends with their faces to place with a name. Let me dwell on this a bit more. I have never done an actual self-portrait, but I did a Zetti Me. I am anxious to try another one of those, but I just haven't made the time. I will hunt around and see if I have some pleasing photos of myself, as well. I will check back when I have tidied up my other few commitments that are in the works.

I'd be open on the artwork on their profile - hopefully it will reflect what they enjoy creating.

As a side note, are the unlined 4 x 6 index cards acceptable to use as a base for this project? I'm just thinking that's a readily available product to use as a base, maybe not conducive to all mediums but certainly to many.

I added you to the list wigbag welcome! Now you just set up one to one private trades with people on the list. You find out if they are looking for; or if you are wanting anything special like photos with a pet. I ask for the art to represent a favorite animal, bird or flower on the profiles made for me. This can be done by decorating with collage or hand drawn or stamping ... whatever works ...

As far as time ... I have been really slow myself ... we do not have a set time but please comunicate with the people you are trading with. For me waiting isn't so bad as long as long as I know I am not forgotton, it is probably the same for most people. And don't sign up for too many trades if you know you don't have time. I think this should run much like the rolo thread. Any questions that I have not answered?

Okay, dilemma time. I don't have a color printer (yet). I can print b/w photos of myself only. I'm not sure I'm liking the idea of a b/w photo mixed in with a colorful card. Is there some easy answer to this? Is there some way I can get sheets of little color photos printed if I supply the photo file either on line or at one of the office supply places? Would I have to set the file up myself as far as a sheet of small photos or would they be able to that part of it up as well? Obviously, this is a real gray area for me (no pun intended).

The low tech way I've always done it is to just get regular color copies, at an office supply store. I find the glossy photo paper difficult to collage with. They can resize the photo. But sometimes they do weird pricing if they do the work, do it yourself at Staples is 49 cents a sheet. If you take several photos it is easier than duplicating one photo over and over because they are all scaned as one. You can ask to see what paper choices they have.

Well there's several things you could do - if you have a digital picture, you can take it to walgreen's or wherever that has a photo printing station and I'll bet you can print several on one page; you can take your digital or regular photos to a copy place and have bunches of color copies done. Or you could hand color your B&W pics just for me! grin. They would probably be able to set something up for you at a copy place, but they would charge you! Another option MIGHT be to make up your own photo page in Word and take that word file in - can probably print it at a copy center. OR how bout making a word doc or whatever and printing it at a friend's house? What to do what to do? So many possibilities.

I personally like black & white - I think it looks artistic and all.

Oh another thing! If you have a pc, with XP and Vista (I think) in the microsoft picture and fax viewing program (and other photo editing programs, but that one comes with computers I think) you could set it up to print a page of wallets and make it into an adobe pdf - then take that file to the copy center. If you don't have the ability to do pdf's, I'll be happy to make up a file for ya! Enough confusion for you?

Okay, I did some snooping around and I came up with something that might work. I went to Snapfish and ordered little stickers with my photo - 20 per sheet for $4.99. The stickers are 1.75" square. I ordered two sheets, each with a different photo. That comes out to about 25 cents per sticker and shipping was only $1.98. We shall see. Just for you, Cheeka, black and white. I'm chomping at the bit to get one of these cards done so you shall be my first victim!

Kylie, you inspired me to snoop! At stamps.com you can make your own photo postage stamps (http://photo.stamps.com/Store/learn-more/) and they are not too expensive. You can put anything on them! How cool would that be to use for swap returns and have your own cancelled stamps? And of course for sending stuff for trades - perhaps not your picture for that, but one of your favorite ATCs!

If nothing is next to a name on the first post it means the person is collecting all three. So just look at the list and find someone to trade with. Yes and no .... Yes ... You could make some profiles and post them as available then see if someone wants to make a trade. Some people are looking for things in their profile like maybe profile with your pet. And NO ... do not send to people before setting up a trade. ... it is not a good idea to send to someone unless a personal trade is agreed on by both parties ahead of time.

Well, I am discovering that this is harder than I thought ..giggle.. I don't know why but I thought 4x6 hey I'll have a lot more room to work with ..giggle.. I've done one, threw it away, I have one now that I am happy with. I am in the process of accenting it with acrylic paints. Thinking that maybe I should add something else not sure though. I'm taking you have a photo program? Upload your picture click to edit picture, there should be a button to click on to lighten your photos or adjust the contrast. You may even want to crop everything else out too.

TherapyArtist - I gotta claim the Godiva one if it's not already taken. They are all super cool! Here are my first 3 hand-made profiles. You get first choice. Left to Right: Pink, Blue or PinkieGreen. The background is a print of one of my Kaleidoscopes and the rest is traditional collage with a hand-tinted silk flower. Anybody else want to trade?

I joined this crazy talented bunch two years ago. At that time I would NOT consider myself an artist. I was a fairly talented crafter who always had to do something creative but not an artist. I was so afraid to ask people to trade with me. Well now I am still droooling at what others do but I can accept a pat on the back, and even give myself one. Some of what I do can be called art and not make me uncomfortable. I love it here.

Just an FYI...I googled for the 4 x 6 sleeves and there are several sources out there for these. I guess they are considered photo or postcard sleeves. I saw a varying range of prices. I have not checked e-Bay yet but I'm thinking that perhaps some of the sellers who offer the trading card sleeves that we use for ATCs, also offer the 4 x 6 sleeves. Hopefully Kristin will check in soon with her source.

I found bags that are about 4 1/2 x 6 1/2 but I can/t remember if it was at Michaels, Stapels or my local scrapbook store.

But don't stress over sleeves, you can cheap little single pocket page photo albums or brag books for a dollar or two here in the states. Often found in $1 bins if a store has those. Buy a couple of those and cut the pages out to use as sleeves, Or you can use a ziploc baggie or even plastic wrap just to protect them for mailing.

I bought a nice album to collect them in as I recieve mine.

Oh I know exactly where you are coming from ..giggle.. I had an uncle tell me one time photos don't lie! At the time it was a shocking reality check. ..giggle.. I have always like my self at the same time I always felt conscious of my weight feeling insecure about myself. Now, that doesn't even bother me I am who I am and love it.:laugh:

You can buy a hundred or 500 and they also sell a nice little box that will hold 200-700 post cards depends on the type of sleeve you put your card in. Not to say some pretty nice Photo Albums for Postcards. I went ahead and bought the box I want to collage it. I found this site first on eBay then went to their online business to actually place my order. Anyway check the link above. At least the sleeves are affordable like the sleeves we use for our atcs.

I got your wonderful card linda, I am now working on yours............slowly catching up after the back going out. I had a real minor surgery treatment that has helped alot. I can sit up, and I can walk...........yahoooooooooo! I still am not able to work on my art as long as I would like too, but I can work...........so I am happy with that. :D

hi everyone, I am finally caught up on the stuff I had to finish before my pic cards. my back is almost there. I go in two weeks for another minor surgery that should get me almost normal again for a while. that flat on my back for over three weeks was a real bummer. then I had to rush to finish a few things that were due. I hate working in a rush or feeling like things are hanging over my heaad a the last moment. like to get done early, so I can breathe easy. any way I finishe my first card today. the only thing is that I realized that i was not supposed to put stuff on the back. I put personal info on back, since my photo allows you to see the back and front (if you remove the white paper in it) and then you see both sides. so anyone making or trading with me it is ok to do both sides. this card is for goblin_giggles I hope you like it ok, even though I put my addy and stuff on the back. I can redo it if you want another. I thought you liked dragons.......so this is it and it is called 'dragon queen'

I think for most of having art on the back would be wasted.

I am keeping all my picture profiles in a nice photo album with 4x6 pocket pages. So there is no room for objects to stick out beyond the 4x6, and the backs are not seen.:wubclub:

goshhh sorry to cause such a stir! I only said you could do the back on any for me if you like, since the album I am using shows both sides if you take the piece of white paper out of the hole you slide the pics into. I BY NO MEANS MEANT THAT YOU SHOULD, OR HAD TOO! please forgive me for confusing everyone. I am just as happy with either. I only mentioned it becuase after finishing my first one.........I had done that back, since it would have worked in my book........then realized in the instructions it said front only. SOOOOOO SSOOORRRYYY YOU ALL!

I think I will decorate the back of the one I make for YOU since you like them that way - and I will put a picture of my dog Zoe with a jester collar on - if I can find it - she passed 2 years ago and was a puppy way before that but I think I know where it is - if not, I can certainly scan the portrait I had done of her in the collar.

Artsy hun RELAX we love you, and there is no problem. If someone wants to do backs they should just check with the person getting the card. I would hate someone taking the time of making me a pretty back then I just hide it so it can't be seen in my album. Trades are set up individually and it is no problem to make personal choices as long it is agreed on!
