Due Date: SEPT 9th, 2020

No withdrawal!
3:3 puzzle pieces, included in the envelope to you.
LIMITED TO 18 players. FULL NO WATING LIST
PUZZLE PIECE TRASH TO TREASURE Mixed Media, collage

PUZZLE PIECE TRASH TO TREASURE

Once you have signed up and have been sent your envelope from my Trashy stash, you are committed to finish the swap. Late returns or no returns will receive a neutral iTrader. I am swapping out after the mail comes on the due date no exceptions.

This is a mixed media swap, made on enclosed puzzle pieces. You may add, hand drawn, doodles or zentangles to accent your puzzle pieces. No abstract puzzles pieces. You must have a focal point or theme. If you need tips, aim for a word, and an image that coordinate, add accents. Ask yourself does this tell a story? I hope this helps.

ABOUT THE PUZZLE PIECES, These puzzle pieces are about 2.40 inches wide, and about 3 inches tall, and fit nicely inside an atc sleeve. Size and shape may vary. I bought the kids puzzles, New, still in the package, I didnt clean up my kids messy room. (btw no young kids at home, anyway).

I have 4 atc sleeves taped together, along side each other, each with one puzzle piece in one sleeve.

This taped configuration will be inside a craft type envelope with all the stash/trash items

KEY POINT: Besides merely gluing down the Trash items, I have enclosed, to the puzzle pieces, that I have also enclosed; you must use some form of ink or paint. It doesnt count to use the pieces I have sent that are already painted, inked. You must add some of your own. Ink the edges, use a pen to trace something, add some paint to something. Get it? No? ask questions.

KEY POINT: Please use at least two trash items per puzzle piece, from the stuff I mailed, and list them in tiny hand writing on the back of your puzzle piece. I will provide a list here, not in the envelope.

KEY POINT: Also add your AFA user name to the back of the puzzle piece.

KEY POINT:which side is the back? That is up to you. You may use either side, you may cover it with paint, gesso or paper, or you may work with the images given on the puzzle piece. No additional backing is needed these are firm enough.
TO SIGN UP you must do 2 things!

1. Post in the tread to sign up that you have read all the requirements and are aware that this is a no withdrawal swap, and that any withdrawal or late cards will receive a neutral iTrader, and that reimbursement for initial mailing costs. (Sorry but this can add up over time, and I dont want to upset hubby with my hobby expenses)

2. Send me your address, (unless you are on The CRRR list), please dont assume, I have saved your address, this just delays the mailings. ONCE I get your address in my INBOX I will send you an envelope of miscellaneous items from my stash.

POSTING TO THE THREAD

Post to the thread to sign up.

Please post to the thread when you have received your trash/stash items FROM ME
Please post when you have mailed your puzzle pieces Hopefully you can post images or links. Please tell us about. the trash you used or any techniques. We love to hear about your art.

It is part of completing your swap commitments. The hostess gets itrader, if you are so inclined. I have so many, I dont need more, I just need to know you got your returns.

No silent swappers. You must be active in posts.

Postage to you will be NON machinable, I will take them to the PO and hand deliver to the clerk. After that it is out of my hands. It will cost me 85 cents to mail this to a player in the USA. 1.20 to Canada, and a little over $2 for AU or UK.

The puzzle pieces are thin enough that you will not need to pay extra for a package, Please do not CHUNK them up.

4 puzzle pieces this is a 3;3 you can feel free to keep the extra, or make one for me the host, sometimes you need an extra for errors.

POSTAL STUFF

It is my goal to mail all the envelopes back non machinable to protect them from the hungry postal machine monsters.

USA please remember to send postal reimbursement in the form of Unused stamps, still attached to the postal waxy type paper. AND enclose a SASE with 85 cents in postage on the envelope.

INTERNATIONAL please remember to send postal reimbursement in the form of Unused stamps from your country, OR $1 for Canada, $2 for other countries, USA money or your country money is acceptable. This swap is in the Mail art swap and is not atcs. It is a puzzle piece swap. I re-read what I wrote, and didnt change it. The part about gluing means, gluing items to the puzzle piece. I just dont want players to just glue things down to the puzzle piece but my aim is to have them make a piece or art on a puzzle piece.

CQ5 - how BIG are the puzzle pieces?

That is a good question. I will add the info to the swap description.

They fit nicely one per atc sleeve so about 2.5 wide maybe 2.4 times maybe 3 inches high. Size and shape may vary.

I did buy them new, still in the package, Not extra pieces from my kids floor.

I have 4 atc sleeves taped together, along side each other, inside a craft type envelope with all the stash/trash items.

I have 6 envelopes left, and I am not in any hurry to fill those last 6 spots. I have to run out and pick up food for the food bank. We still are not back in a room at the church so I pass out boxes from my driveway. Overall it makes my day shorter since I used to be at the FB til 3 pm.

So I will be back. After I pass out the boxes of food, I will drop off the 2 envelopes, at the PO. They are not open yet.

I went cruising the gallery, and I invited 3 new players to fill the last 3 spots. I picked players that I liked their mixed media cards, TrudiJ was one of them. She is also doing the library cards challenge. So I knew she was up for a challenge.

I am going to wait to see if the other two reply. So those last two spots are pending. Not everyone is up for doing puzzle pieces, so I get that part.

CastleQueen5
06-29-2020, 12:08 PM

06-29-2020, 08:14 PM
I can NOT believe the envelopes are arriving so fast.

I live one mile north of the PO that delivers to my house. I had to do an errand, fruitless btw, so I took TrudiJs to the PO today. My PO has a designated area where you can leave packages that have the printed postage and the Non machinable letters. That was stacked up so high when I got there at 4 pm and the line was out the door. I am allowed to just stop, drop, and roll. So hey I did. No flames though.

Just one envelope left and waiting to see if Helene wants it. If not I am going to ask Robin if she does.

I have had those fish napkins for too long, and for art not for my table. The puzzle pieces are very clearly from a kids finding Nemo puzzle. I am glad to see the fish napkin did work on a puzzle pieces. I wondered about size. But a long time ago they two pieces were never collected by me for any coordinated purpose. But glad it worked out. I have been saving the WINE lady images since 2018. Yep I do have some issues. But I saw them and grabbed as many as I could. Turns out I had 18.

Your puzzle pieces arrived safely today. I love each and everyone of them. You add such fine details.

I cant decide. I like the BE WELL with the Star Trek postage stamp

The find napkin one has the silver paper used as sea weed, so cute.

Great use of the tiny woman with the bird page.
and the wine lady with the bird that reads we are number one! and with crowns! Yes, probably that is my favorite with Star Trek a close second. Thanks for not only working so fast, but also doing a very detailed artsy job on the puzzle pieces.

I sure hope I didn’t get this wrong, since 3 are already done. I don’t think mine tell any kind of story, I just went with the item I liked and added more of the same from my stash. Like the subject is “hearts”, and then I added my own, from stamps, heart shaped sequin, etc. I did the same thing with the teddy bears. I did try to do interesting backgrounds, colors, and outlines. Hope they are ok.

I have seen your art before and I am sure they are fine.

Spent a lovely 4th-enjoying the air conditioning!-working on puzzle pieces. Getting these ready to mail out Monday. Great swap-thanks for letting me play along.

Ok, reread the instructions and see that you want details: I lightly sanded and painted a layer of white gesso on all the puzzle pieces figuring I would be painting all the backgrounds but I did end up using the brightly colored inked coffee filter for the background on ‘Awesome’. I then worked on them individually starting with the fish napkin because that was the focal image that jumped out at me first. And then the bird images-love birds! Finished up by adding words and then inked all edges in black which, in my humble opinion, gives them a finished look.

I do love the details and hearing about others process.

Hey, in awesome, did you use that thin girl image? It isn't big enough to see. My eyes not your images. NEVER MIND< I found a way to make it bigger. No that is not the girl image. It a clown. Did you have that image or create it? Great addition to the puzzle piece.

I am so glad the painted coffee filter has made a big splash. I do think I got those in a thrift store back with other items, and not useful to me except for art.

I am thrilled to see fish napkin is working out so well on the puzzle pieces. I was mildly worried. I also see you used that tiny car from the coffee box. Great use of that. The bird pages are turning out great too. Everyone got a different page so they will all be different. I loved the bird book but thought I better share it since how many 1000s of bird art was I going to do.

I am hosting the trash to treasure 19, and I have a plant book page. This swap is like months off because right now ANGELJOY is taking sign ups for 18. So mine wont be until SEPT or so.

Hmm, well I haven't started, but I am getting some great ideas, like the fish might fit the puzzle pieces.

But I have to say I am attempting to join the Cat doll shaped swap and the thing is new to me too. I really do want to try some new sizes and shapes. I will say it again. I actually went out and bought the puzzle pieces.

BTW if FOXglove would not mind speaking up, she has some great ideas about puzzle pieces. She could post some links or some images.

Aww, thanks, CQ. I have slooowly been altering my way through two 24-piece puzzles. You art up each piece, and when you put it all together, it will create a really cool collage! So I am pretty sure I wont be taking the butterfly and bird. I kind of like the fish the most. I also really like the red roses, so it will be a tough choice.

You didn't plan the great word I got. I got lucky with a vocabulary card "grotesque" and i used a word from the sentence using the word on one card and a word from the definition on another card.
I didn't plan strange, she started out sweet, but once i cut away to the puzzle piece she did look strange.
For me, using a puzzle piece was all about using the odd shape to manipulate the images to an interesting way.
Gnarly is third try on that piece.

I LOVE your puzzle pieces, Majanga! I especially love the 3rd one with what looks like a little house peeking through a forest. They are all really beautiful!

Dropped my pieces off at the post office today.

Great cards, super creative. Of course I like the sunflowers. Sunflowers win every time, but the trellis is genius and using that sticker to make the house in green forest is a great use of that item.

Hello crafting friends!! Iíve been barely on here for a couple of months due to moving, work demands and etc. We finally have the primary rooms settled (it took 8 weeks to get most of our furniture) but my art room still looks like this:

I think Iím finally going to take a couple of days off and get it set up. The long whites shelves will have an 8 foot table under them for my space. Iím thrilled!! :jiggy:

I like your set up. Have you had time to craft? I did today.

My puzzle pieces went out from the post office this morning. These were really fun but challenging. You have to think differently when you're creating art on an unusually shaped background.

Holiday Spirit: blue gelato and silver craft paint background. woman from wine ad, words from back of heart/bear strip and small stickers
217868

Rose: black heavy body acrylic with red puff paint. grey pattern from wine ad and tea tag.
217869

Purple Martin: periwinkle craft paint with iridescent purple puff paint. words from bird page, fish from napkin and pink dotted border.
217870

Dancers: Copper acrylic paint. border from napkin, postage stamp and copper hole reinforcement.
