www.photobucket.com is another photo hosting site that is easy to use. you may also use your gallery or upload from your computer.

to post a pic from your gallery

go to your pic in your gallery - left click on the pic to bring up the menu - click on properities - this brings up the info on your pic - copy the address - go to your post and hit the "insert image" button (looks like a postcard) paste the address into the window that pops up and and hit ok - that puts the code into your post for your pic to show up

thanks to mrubyjean - To make a picture loaded from the gallery smaller, you can change the last piece of the coded address. Notice (goatgoddess has posted it on the first page of this thread) the end of the code "w=l" (for large); you can change this after you paste it into your message to w=m (for medium) or w=s (for small).

I don't know. In the past this is how we did it. If it's different now I missed reading it. Which could have happened of course. I know the few times I've done CAT at 5 there was a mad frenzy of PMing for cards. Hetic but lots of fun.

Here's what I get from this. It is collage only, for about two days and you post to this thread when your card is done so it is available for trade with someone, you pm then to trade. Is this correct? I'm not sure on posting to a thread though could someone go over that with me?

I have inquired about starting a technology type thread in the how to section of the forum...my first post is still being scrutinized and hasn't shown up yet. I'll let you know when it does and yours should go there as well.

I think a lot of people have difficulty with that part of the site and even if they don't who can hold all that information in their head and still create wonder pieces? Having a place to go to, to help you remember the how-to do stuff will be wonderful.

I also want to be able to trade with those who are also busy with work and family and real life obligations, as well as those who take lots of careful time on their work. Try to be friendly and tactful with those who admire your work, but just cause they like it or 'spoke first' or 'staked their claim' does NOT mean you have to give it to them.

Good question kysunflower. I hope we are all grown ups here and don't take it personally when someone turns us down for a trade.

I simply say something along the lines of 'Thank you for admiring my work. I dont' trade on a first come, first served basis', and, even though you asked first, at this time, I don't see anything in your available gallery that is a good fit for my collection. Maybe we can trade another time." Being gracious and kind is all that is necessary. Honestly, I'm on such a limited budget for personal swaps (for postage) that I'm not going to trade just for the sake of doing so. I have way too little time for that; I want the trade to be beneficial to BOTH parties, so I look for trades that will compliment my collection as well as theirs.

In order to best ensure you can trade with a PARTICULAR artist, I advise looking through their profile for cards in themes they adore. For instance, last weekend, Dana said she LOVES all of her tree cards, and is always happiest trading for those. If I wanted to make a card that would want Dana to trade with me, I would look at her profile, note that she loves the color purple and trees, and paint her a purple tree.

I think we've all been turned down for trades, and the thicker the skin we get about it (don't get offended or your feelings hurt) the better off we will be. I've been making ATCs full steam for 2 1/2 years, so I think it's easier to deny others and face rejection myself now.

BTW - I agree with OY - we should all be able to keep or trade our art as we please, since it comes from our own hands and imaginations. That means we each get to set our own guidelines. If you are most comfortable sharing your art with whoever asks first, you should continue to do so. If you want to be more selective regarding trades, that's perfectly okay too. It's called FREEDOM, and it's a beautiful thing.

We have an interesting discussion going on about making trades what to say or not say, what to do or not do. What are the thoughs about not making it a trade at all. What I mean is, if someone likes a card of mine and I can't find anything in their gallery send the the card anyway. If they like your card why should they not have it, just because you can't find something that you like in their gallery. That seem selfish to me. I will glady trade whether I get something in return or not. I like it when there is an even swap but if someone wants something of my I am honored just to be asked. I don't know Just food for though.....

Good discussion guys! It's important to know that we all have different ways that we trade, and they are all okay, provided we are honoring our own art and being kind to others. :D
You don't have to defend your way or fight to change others, just respect that other people have a different way and work to get along with them.

Here, here, TomatoStomp, I feel the same way...I am always honored to be asked for a specific card, I don't mind sending it even if the trader doesn't have anything to fit into any of my collections.
