View Full Version : Postage stamp ATCs - MARINE Due: September 20

Donnacr
07-12-2020, 01:58 AM
Due date: September 20
postage for non-Australians: August 20
I live in Australia - mail will NOT teach me quickly! Mail is getting back to closer to normal but, with reduced international flights, I would still suggest you allow at least a month, if not 5 weeks.
cards: 3:3 or 6:6
participants: unlimited
media: any and all but MUST include at least 1 postage stamp with something MARINE on it (fish, other sea life, plants)

MAILED October 1
plumhill2001 & seascape131 mailed October 10

I have LOTS of postage stamps and love using them on my cards so I have decided to run a monthly series of swaps using different topics on the stamps.
short of stamps? Just ask - I have lots on most topics and I am very happy to send them to you. If you need some a little quicker just PM CastleQueen5 or AngelJoy - they are in the US and have lots of postage stamps to share as well.

future topics so you can plan ahead:
Oct - Land animals (not cats, dogs or butterflies) Nov - Flowers/trees Dec - Christmas Jan '21 - Birds (land or sea eg penguins) Feb - Music (musicians, dancers, singers, etc) Mar - Art (artists, pictures of Art - Classical, native, retro, etc) Apr - Sport (playing sport, sports equipment, Olympics, etc) May - Celebrations/emotions June - Space (astronauts, planets, spaceships - real or fictional eg Star Trek, etc) July - Household items/ food (chairs, lamps, coffee pots, clocks, jugs, etc)

Please include a background for your stamp(s) - it can be an extension of the stamp design or abstract, or something in between. Plain white backgrounds will be returned unswapped.

Post to the thread to sign up.

PM me for my address when you are ready to mail - if you have an address in Robina, I am still there.

Due date:
Cards are to be in my hand by September 20. I will mail your returns as soon as possible but remember, it took up to a month to reach me so your returns may take a month or more to reach you. Please be on time so others don't have to wait.

Postage:
Australian players: please include a stamp equivalent to your postage
International players: unfortunately Australian international postage has gone up to #3.20 so I must ask for a well hidden US#2 or a Global Forever stamp

ALL players please include a LARGE address label (AT LEAST 2" x2"), I will supply envelopes. Please do NOT send those 3-in-a-row sleeves - they do not fit in my envelopes.

1. Do your best work - I plan to swap effort-for-effort as much as I can.

2. Clearly write your USERNAME and the SWAP NAME on the back of all your cards (so you can get fun Rep points) and on the back of your mailing envelope. I am running a few swaps and do not want to put you with the wrong returns.

3. Please mail early to allow time to reach Australia.

4. An extra card for the swap Host is greatly appreciated but is not required.

5. Embellishments are fine. The completed card needs to fit into a standard pocket and the embellishments need to be securely fastened so they don't fall off during shipping. If it is too bulky it is more than likely that the card will not reach me - either because the envelope has been torn and the card lost, or it is too heavy.

6. Have fun!

7. I will give iTrader feedback when I receive your cards and will also update this post showing that your cards have been received. In return I encourage you to give iTrader Host feedback to me when you receive your swap returns, and Rep points to the artists whose cards you receive. After all, knowing where your cards went is half the fun I think.

welcome back Suzi, welcome to your first Postage stamp swap Cleopatra (beware, they are addictive - check out the list of future swaps in the first post ;))

Lunamoth - you don't have to just have sea creatures, it can also be plant life so pictures of coral, etc will work too. If you find you are just short why not PM CastleQueen5 or AngelJoy who have both offered to share their collections. Enjoy the eye candy while you wait.

thanks to all those who are giving me their suggestions - all requests are being noted.

I really think we need to warn the mouse that there is a shark in the water. I love that card. I love the birds in the background and the canceled postmark near them.

yep speaking up for that card, which means I have to make cards and mailed early.

welcome to your first Postage stamp swap Cleopatra (beware, they are addictive - check out the list of future swaps in the first post ;))

Sadly I looked at your list for future stamp ATC swaps and ended up buying bunches of stamps for those from Amazon. As you warned, playing with stamps are addictive. Sigh. This pandemic has also taught me the joys of looking forward to "gifts" coming in the mail with that Amazon smile.

Am still working on my cards but will post when they are done. Have a good weekend everyone!

I love finding used stamps - sometimes lucky enough to find little packets at the thrift store, but often I buy on Etsy. Sometimes one of the thrift stores holds a silent auction and postage stamps come up for bid, but I never win the bid (sigh) - the final bid usually goes above $100 (sometimes a few hundred dollars). But, oh my, they have had some real beauties that I wish I could get my hands on!

Cleopatra

Cleopatra, I’ve been there, done that! Welcome to the club!

I got a big batch of 1000 stamps the other day. Felt like a miser playing with gold!
I used to get stamps from a local giant yard sale put on by a retirement village. It's always in Nov. and the residents dress up as pilgrims (the name of the center is Pilgrim's Place). I don't know if it will be held this year. But we can hope for the best!
Stay safe everyone!

Laffqueen every single one of your cards is a dream! FULL of fun layers. I would love to have any one of them.

I thought adding the seahorse and the mermaid was a grand addition.

But then the light house and the ship made card 2 inspiring too.

The lady holding the fish, and you embellished the sea shell. (or it came that way).

Such grand collage. It inspires me to get busy on mine.

nanvan
07-30-2020, 10:53 AM
Laffqueen, ditto everything that CQ5 said - she's spot on! I love them all, but if I had to choose a favorite it would probably be the lady holding the blue fish - something about it tickles my fancy!

I am so sorry to have gone MIA but our Internet went down after 2 days of storms here and we were totally without anything for 3 days then, when it went back up, it was patchy and would cut out in the middle of typing. :arghh:
I am hoping that it stays on now fingers crossed

I have received cards from: VickiZ, jo.on.the.go, Suzi and Betsyg. VickiZ this will be the 4th time I have tried to leave you iTrader, hopefully, I will get to the end this time. . .

Hi Donna, I'm not sure yet - I've started working again and so have less time to create cards. Was already committed to a few swaps and I'm playing catch-up right now. I HOPE to participate, but don't sign me up quite yet. I will see if I can put something together by this weekend. I think that would still give my cards time to get there ....

Donnacr

I just finished some cards for the November swap. (Flowers/trees) But I was thinking the theme was just Flowers, so mine are all flowers. Is that okay? I'm not sure if I even have any tree stamps, but I could check. Wasn't sure if both were needed or if it was an either/or situation. ;)

Sorry to see you go nanvan and CastleQueen5

craftyvox - lovely to hear from you again and I hope that you can join us during this series.

LOVELY creations being shown in the thread - AngelJoy, you said that one of your stamps was created by Neener? It looks great.

for those who have mailed - I will tell you when they arrive,
for everyone else the recommended mailing time for international players was last weekend.

I am so sorry for not giving more warning but my husband decided that, while we were still able to travel, he would extend our 1 week holiday exploring central Queensland into a 2 week holiday. The problem with central, rural Queensland is that the internet is very patchy and, in some places, basically non-existent in the speeds that I needed to keep up with you all. :embarrassed:

Donnacr

Plumhill2001 - so sorry not to answer your question. The trees are there as I noticed that some of my stamps were a mixture of flowers and trees - you can make cards using either or both. Yours should be fine.

Seascape131 and plumhill2001 - Haagmm mailed at the end of August while you both mailed at the end of July. I think that we will have to accept that they have been sucked into the Covid vortex :(

plumhill2001 and seascape131 - both your cards arrived last Friday. Sorry for the delay but I am trying to make some cards to swap with you while dealing with family problems.
Your returns are in the mail today

I can't believe that the 2 sets of cards that were mailed 9 days after everyone else's have both arrived while we are still waiting on the original returns to arrive.

thanks to everyone who tells me their cards have made it home - I find that the most stressful part of Hosting.

don't forget that you give everyone from whom you receive cards Rep points and, if you think I have done a good job, you give me an iTrader.

I was noticing that, too! Crazy how the postal system works! :)

Donnacr your swaps are always so wonderful. And I received so many great cards in return - often ones that I specifically requested.

AngelJoy - Colorful Crab
Laffqueen - Mermaid
Suzi - Bioluminescent Life
Donnacr - Seaweed with stamp from Vietnam and somewhere else
VickiZ - Water Dragon
Betsyg - Coral Reefs #1

unfortunately Fandanie has not posted to the thread so you will be unable to leave Rep points for her :(

I am so happy to see that the majority of cards have made it to their forever homes. I feel your pain Bishopsmate - it is difficult to live so far from everyone (England) and have to wait so long for your returns. Fingers crossed that they aren't far away.

As I have opened the 'Birds' swap (and can only have so much in my signature) I am planning to archive this swap tonight.
If you have attachments please remove them or you will have to ask a Mod to do it for you.

Thank you to everyone who played. For those 2 people who have not received their cards yet you can still leave Rep points on an archived swap, you just can't comment.
