If you think 3 heads are better than one when it comes to making ATCs this is the place for you.

We are a fun group of ATC makers who like to spread the making of ATCs around to more than one person.

Here is how to get started……………..

First you sign up in the thread and tell us what themes you do not want so I can add your name to the list in the 1st post.

Next you PM your mailing address and any dislikes to me so I can add it to the address list. I will update this list as players come and go or change their status.

If you wish to take a break from playing at any time all you need to do is post in the thread if you want to let everyone one know and send me a pm so I can make it official by changing the list. I will move you to the HOMERS ONLY section of the address list until you ask me to change it. This way you will still get any you have started that have been completed by others but you should not get any new ones. If you do get new ones, please let me know in a pm.

To keep cards from being sent to inactive players I will move you to the HOMERS ONLY section of the address list if you have been inactive on the site for a month. Once you become active again you can pm me and ask to be placed back into active status.

And here is how a Round Robin works…………

Player 1 starts it off by starting 3 cards. These cards need to be more than a preprinted background. Please put something on them. On the back please put ATCS FOR ALL RANDOM ROUND ROBIN or AFA RANDOM RR at the top (so we know where it came from as there are 2 round robin groups) along with at least your user name. Mail all 3 cards to Player 2.

Player 2 will work on the cards. Add at least your user name to the back. Mail all 3 cards to Player 3.

Player 3 will finish the cards. Add at least your user name to the back. Keep 1 card and mail the other 2 back to Player 1. It is OK to detour from this way to mail back if you feel it helps the other players! Unless you know for sure it is ok you should ask player 1 what they want you to do

Player 1 will keep 1 card and mail the other one to Player 2.

VERY IMPORTANT ~ Please remember to look at the most current list before sending cards to anyone to make sure they are still playing.

EQUALLY IMPORTANT ~ Please check what cards a player DOES NOT WANT. Do not send unwanted themes to anyone as they must pay to send them on to someone else .

If you get a set of cards and you have no idea what to do with them, just send them on to someone else.

Feel free to post eye candy whenever you want. Part of the fun of being in a Round Robin is seeing who is doing what. You can post them when you get them before you add anything, after you have added something or when you get a completed set. If you don't have a scanner or are not sure how to post them it is ok. Posting is not a requirement to join and have fun. There are no Round Robin Police sent to visit if you don't!

And you never have to say who you are sending to unless you want to.

And last but not least…………

iTraders: They are fun to give and fun to get so please remember them. Once you have a completed card you can give them to both the other players. When giving them you are the trade.

Welcome to the new thread!!

Hope everyone is finding it.

I thought with a fresh start we might do a bit of housekeeping with the list so here is a question for you all!

I have some requests to add likes to some players. I am close on characters, so I need to remove and change things up some to accommodate the requests.

Here is the question………. how many of you look at the “likes” section before sending things?

Since we call this random everyone is supposed to be open to anything except things that they really don’t like which is why we have the “no” section.

I was thinking if we deleted the “likes” it will free up lots of characters and we can always go look at profiles if likes are really that important to you as a sender.

Please give me some feedback on the thread or in a pm so we as a group can decide if the “likes” stays or goes.

Thanks all!!

The likes are handy, that's for sure.

The likes line could be limited to a certain number of characters, if that would help. One could, and probably should, check a player's profile for more details.

I'd be agreeable to eliminating likes as a last resort.

I'm okay with eliminating likes and checking profiles instead.

I find the likes immensely helpful. Sure, I could send everything out completely randomly, but I personally love getting a set that just screams me. And I like doing the same for others.
Also, likes in what we want to collect (what most of us state in our profiles) might not be the same as our RR likes!

All in all I know that I didn't look at the profiles a lot before, especially because the amount of info given is so different - one profile is sparse and gives you pretty much nothing to work with, another is so detailed that I drown in it. :twitcy:

So, I personally love the likes and would be grateful if we kept them and as many of us as possible had them. Not as a "must" or even a "should", but for inspiration and assistence. :)

Maybe they could be packed in a seperate PM? Or is that too much hassle?

Oh, they could also be added to the first post, if everyone is okay with that... likes are not really secret like addresses, right?

ArtsyOne
08-02-2020, 06:30 PM
Oh, they could also be added to the first post, if everyone is okay with that... likes are not really secret like addresses, right?

Now THAT seems like a really good idea. That could unburden the LIST and would be easily revised via PM to xstitcher (if she is agreeable and it doesn't cause too much more work for her, that is.)

I do look at likes occasionally, but I think that I could live without them. I am ok with whatever is decided. I can adapt to pretty much everything!

I do not want the likes info to go away. I depend on it and I don’t want to have to go to everyone’s profile when I send out a mailing. Moving the info to the first post is a good idea if you don’t want it on the group pm anymore. I always have the most recent pm open when I’m getting envelopes filled. It’s nice to have all the important info all in one place.

Also I’ve been gathering up some cool alphabets and am going to make a set from A to Z. I’ve taken note of some of you who want to participate and with 26 sets, there will be plenty to go around. I may make extra sets of some of the letters. And as with all my starters, anything goes.

Signing in to the thread, I think... The likes list is okay....

mrubyjean
08-03-2020, 10:43 AM
I do check the likes as I try to respect other people's preferences.
I am completely open myself as I can always choose to keep or send on any set.
And I like the challenge of making any set into something I'd like.

I appreciate all you do maintaining this thread, xstitcher, so if eliminating likes is what works for you, I'm OK with it.
If it works to put it in the first post that's okay with me, too.

Also, I finally finished all my current sets -- will post pics soon and send them all out.
And I am ready to leave the Homers Only list and be active again. Thanks!

I personally like the "like list". I do try and look at it when choosing the next players. I would actually like it if more players had their likes on there. When I see some that don't have any, I'm not so sure they'd like the cards or not. I personally do love to receive cards that are "me"! I agree that a list on the first post (perhaps where the list of names are) would be a great idea.

08-03-2020, 11:52 AM
I woke up in the middle of the night and THIS was one of the things on my mind, lol.
I was wondering if you could save a lot of characters by replacing the cute little emojis (which I love) with a simple letter. Like D for dissimilar. I assume they count characters according to how many are used for the HTML coding?
And maybe limit our number of likes.
But you guys may have gone beyond this stage already. Just some thoughts.
I'm cool with whatever. Like mrubyjean said, we always have the option of passing cards along to someone else if they don't appeal to us.

Plumhill makes a good point about replacing emojis. The other idea I had was to strip the likes out from those on homers only. Would that be too much of a disruption?

08-03-2020, 03:34 PM
Just checking in.
I have to be honest, I've not checked the likes list very much. I do pay attention to the dislikes list.
It does make sense to remove the likes from those on homers since they will get what they've already contributed to.

I wanted to get all caught up on my crrrs before starting any new sets. I spent the weekend working on all the sets in my crrr box and took everything to the post office this morning. Envelopes went out to ArtsyOne, BluSkyHare, CastleQueen5, Chimerix, ChronicReader, Clar42ie, Collagaint Ashley, Karr3ll, Katelnorth, Lindagiese, LucyMc, Suzi, Sweetgypsy, and ThouArtDelyrias.

Karr3ll I didn’t have any more alpha sets to work on but I did finish up your Queen of Hearts APC set. Love it!

It does make sense to remove the likes from those on homers since they will get what they've already contributed to.

The problem I see in doing this is that it causes xstitcher more work to put them back in when someone becomes active again. But I don't suppose that happens very often so maybe it's not an issue for her.

pancake machine
08-03-2020, 06:49 PM
Agreed ArtsyOne, that could be an issue. I'd think it would be up to the person getting back in to share at the same time they are re-joining. But it does mean more work for xstitcher; just don't know how much.

xstitcher
08-03-2020, 08:53 PM
Thank you for taking time to comment on the likes issue. I have read them all and will try to address them now. If I miss something I am sorry.

To give you an idea of how many characters I have to work with looking at the last list I sent including the short note I added I have 25 characters left to work with!

3 of the emojis are 2 characters and the newest one is 5 so if I took them all down to 1 letter instead it would still only be less than 150 more characters.

I am also limited to 10,000 in a post. Just because I can I copied and pasted all the likes we already have (not including changes and additions I have not made yet because I don’t have the room) and there are only 92 characters left!

Stripping the likes of “homers only” players while not impossible would mean I have to keep track of them somewhere else and add them back when I moved a player back to “active”. As it is now all I need to do is cut and paste between the lists. If we said once you come back you need to let me know if you want likes I would still have to cut and paste or type them.

From what I am seeing a lot of you want the likes left so I think we need to keep them, we just need to decide where those of you who use them the most want them.

There are a couple of options I can think of.

One would be to ask Carole to split the 1st post like we do on PATs which should give us plenty of characters for a while. With this option the 1st post will be the top part explaining everything and the 2nd one would have both lists. Keep in mind you would need to work off 2 lists because the addresses and the dislikes will not be there. We can have the dislikes there, but never the addresses because the thread is not private to our round robin group or even the members of ATCS FOR ALL.

Another would be to split the list with addresses. This would mean you would have 2 lists, one “active” players and the other “homers only” players. And the addresses would be with the likes and dislikes.

I’m sure there are other options, but these are all I can think of now. If you have a different or better suggestion, please let me know.

I would like to resolve this as soon as we can because I have a player wanting likes added.

So, in conclusion………. we will keep the likes and what we need to do is decide how and where we want to see them. Also do we want to move the dislikes to the same place or keep them where with the address no matter what we do with the likes.

I should have time this weekend to make whatever changes we decide so if we can “discuss” it and arrive at a consensus before then that would be wonderful.

Thank you all for your input so far. Keep it coming.

It looks to me that the easiest way is to split the LIST into two parts. Active and homers. This keep you from having to type anything new when a homers player goes active - just cut and paste.

I would not have any problem with two lists. And it would be beneficial to have likes and dislikes together with the names and addresses.

I’m going to chime in ...that, I asked xstitcher to remove my “likes”, to allow her more character space, as I WILL WORK ON ANY THEME, I like the challenge, and love all the art, no matter the topic/theme.

I do look at the list, to know if there are specific themes, likes a player has, and also dislikes...as I enjoy adding items others will enjoy, & wherever it’s placed, I’ll continue to check it out.

I received envelopes from Angeljoy, AnitaMac, Hushedkitty & LindaG... thank you all :)

BTW love all the cards being posted, & I’m thrilled to see my name on some... yippee! Can’t wait to see them in person!
As always * GREAT WORK *

And I appreciate that. Since yours says "Likes: ABSOLUTELY ANYTHING & APCs" I am going to delete it but it is just a tiny amount of what I need so we still need to make some kind of change.

keep the comments coming. Looks like most of the comments so far are for a split list of active and homers and keeping likes and dislikes together.

Since we are going to do something if anyone wants to add to likes, dislikes or any emoji to the new list shoot me a pm with what you want.

Still looking like this weekend is going to be a good time to make the change!

I totally agree with ArtsyOne. This makes the most sense to me if you are able to cut and paste from one pm to another. I’ve never done that so I’m not sure. Maybe you are doing a cut and paste from a master list on Word or something. That would simplify things I think.

I think that’s true with the ABC sets too, right? I don’t know how you would do it so everyone has a complete set. However it works out, it’s supposed to be random. I love other artists’ sets I’ve worked on and will include them all in my completed (or continuing) alpha collection. I’m having fun making the starters! The decision has been made and I am going to split the list between active and homers, keeping the likes and dislikes.

I am going to do this tomorrow evening and send it out Sunday to give everyone plenty of time to let me know of changes you want. So please it you want any changes, additions or deletions let me know ASAP.

OK, so I finally figured out why you guys have been so quiet lately - you haven't, I just missed the move. Which is funny, because round about 960 messages I noticed we'd be moving soon, so you'd think I'd have worked it out.

Too late to the party to comment, really, but I do look at the likes - not all the time, but if I have a lot of seconds and starters to go out, I'll try to match them to what people like. Sometimes, if I don't have a lot of stuff waiting and I want to send homers to someone, I don't really worry about the likes, just the dislikes, but it's handy to have the likes. Some of you have been here so long I know what you like (like I know what I can do with something which has sports, food or sewing on it... can anyone say "allegrae"? lol)

Anyway, having the mailing list in two parts is fine - I just leave it in my inbox, and I don't have to look at the homers very often anyway... I keep a printout of a fairly current one next to my workspace (short version, with no addresses, just the likes and dislikes of the active players) just so I can check stuff. Sometimes I forget to do it before I make a card, but usually I remember. I wouldn't mind having a likes/dislikes list as the second post, as then I could just print that out when I needed an update, but it's not a game changer!

katelnorth
08-11-2020, 05:43 AM
It's totally fine for me - I have a couple of sets going with various themes, and other random APCs, so I don't mind having ones which don't make a complete set, if that makes sense. If I get one which happens to fit one of my themes, great, but otherwise, doesn't matter!

You guys, I feel like I'm really messing up my first attempt at sending out APCs, lol.
I sent out Aces to AngelJoy, then I sent out 2s and 3s to Katelnorth. In other word, going backwards from what we usually do. If I keep this up (sending them to various random people) I'll be the only one with a complete set at the end. Am I doing this all wrong or can I do it any way I want to? Was that confusing?

katelnorth
08-11-2020, 05:45 AM
You can always "fill in the gaps" through requests in a PAT, I would think.

And of course, if you have a personal APC ad in the thread (eg click my link below, if you don't know what I mean), you can list which ones you need in a set there. And do individual trades. I've got a few going on with Karr3ll at the moment, for instance...

Going to do a bit more more on ATCs today - it's been so hot the past few days I haven't felt like moving much [34 or 35C - which isn't so bad in the US, as you guys have a/c, but it's darn hot here - that's like 95 or so. I know Heather is laughing it me, as I've seen the temperatures in Phoenix, but you gotta remember a) very humid here and b) no air con]

Anyway, going to have a go at a few today - I don't have a lot of stuff hanging over me, but there's a bit. Plus, some new envelopes in yesterday and today which I haven't looked at yet - from thouartdelyrias, bluskyhare, plumhill, karr3ll and heymaggie. I'm sure they are full of awesome goodies too!

Yay, Kate - glad to have you back with the pack!

Now, guys, I know lots of you like to use used postage stamps in your cards (as do I).
Can anyone tell me how the *peeeeeeep* you can seperate US stamps from their envelope and glue???
'Cause with stamps from literally anywhere alse, I dump them in a pot of hot water with a drop of dish soap, and after like 10 minutes they glide off their envelope paper. Sometimes they are still a bit glue-y, but I can rub the backs gently and they are clean.
Then I dry and press them and can put them in my albums. Done.

With almost all US stamps, I lose half the ones I saved in the first bath because they tear when I try to peel the paper off. The rest aren't clean, but at least still alive, so I dry them, but they are still so sticky I can't put them in my albums because they'd destroy the album and the stamps nearby. So, I bathe them again, lose another half because they disintegrate, and the rest are still, STILL sticky!!! :arghh:

So you see, I'm desperate. Any tips? :wubclub:

I have read that you can spritz the front and the back of the stamps with rubbing alcohol, give it a chance to soak in, and the stamps will separate from the paper. I have not tried this yet. Maybe I will get an old common stamp and try it out. Some US stamps will actually soak off with warm water, but I have ruined so many, that I am hesitant to try it! I’ve resorted to leaving them on the paper, which is not ideal either!

prayer_at_night
08-11-2020, 10:29 AM
Thanks for the tip, Suzi, I tried it immediately!
It helps with getting rid of the excess paper (I could rub these little paper crumbs off without destroying the stamp, that's a plus!)
It doesn't really affect the stickiness, though. :S

I've had success soaking stamps that have the old, glue backs. The instructions I found said to float the stamps on the top of a bowl of warm water, face up (paper side down). It worked very well.

However, it doesn't work for those more recent stamps with the self-stick gum on the back. I'll give the alcohol trick a try. I'm not too concerned about getting rid of the stickiness since I'll be sticking them onto something. (Will probably put them on waxed paper to hold until use).

I don’t bother separating the stamps from envelopes. I just cut around them. I had some stamp edged scissors but can’t find them, no idea where I put them, so now I use a scalloped edge scissors or cut close to the stamp with regular scissors. Decorative envelopes add a nice border around the stamp. Other times I tear around it. I don’t really get enough stamps that are not self stick to bother soaking them and risk ruining them.

Same with soaking packing tape transfers, never had good luck there either. I just gave up on those. I have very little patience.

(worked on by bluskyhare, artsyone, me - the scan cut off the edge of calm, but I'm too lazy to rescan... I'm keeping "quiet" for myself.)

I did do a handful of second round stuff, most of which I won't show (because I'm a firm believer in the Random element of this RR, lol). Except this one, I will show and ask if anyone would like to work on it. It's a continuation of a card started by the lovely Sarah (prayer_at_night) and has an LBGTQ theme. While it's not explicit or offensive to any, I hope, I know it's not everyone's cup of tea for a card theme, so I'll ask who'd like to work on it instead of sending it to someone who might prefer not to.

You have my sympathy on the heat! I grew up in southeast Texas where it's hot and humid, and nobody had AC when I was little. (Except my aunt and uncle who ran an appliance store and we thought they were rich!) I would sit in front of a fan eating popsicles to try to cool off. Could hardly wait for fall! I love Minnesota! (Although it gets warm here. But not enough to bother with AC.)

It's not normally this hot here - we only get a few days each summer, really. But it's pretty awful when we do get this sort of weather. This year is worse than usual, because what we'd usually do to help alleviate it is go to the cinema or the pool or a mall to browse around or eat a meal in a restaurant or something in order to take advantage of the a/c in those places. This year, those options are a bit more restricted.

It has been extremely hot and humid in AL lately - in the mid to high 90s with the heat index in the low to mid 100s! Fortunately, we have central air or I would not be able to survive it! When I do walk outside, I feel like I am trying to breathe underwater. Just going from the house to the car feels brutal to me. My hubby loves hot weather, but he always goes out in it from 6 am - 10 am and then is inside most of the day (which he hates!) until it gets a little cooler in the evening and he goes out to water his plants. Me, I'm okay being inside crafting away! :) Our a/c bill has been a bit steeper lately, though. :) In my craft room I have a separate window a/c unit as well so I can keep it as cool as I want since I am always too warm while my hubby is usually cold! Another reason to be in my own little space.

I’ve lived in Texas all my life and it was not this hot when I was a kid. We had window units but no a/c. And we stayed outside till dark every day (except for mealtimes). I experimented with the mentioned methods of removing stamps that have the sticky gum on the back.

Freeze - doesn't do a thing

Hairdryer - does soften the gum but as soon as you stop the hairdryer the gum begins to harden. It was a slow process - heat, pull up a bit, heat again, etc. etc.

Alcohol soak - this worked very well and the stamps came away from the paper fairly clean, and any paper still stuck was easily rubbed off.

Water soak - didn't work very well with the sticky gum and weakened the stamp so that it tore easily when trying to rub the soaked paper off the back.

Note: both alcohol and water soak caused the cancellation ink to smear. I could daub most of it off but there was still a shadow of it left on the stamp. (Odd, that the ink ran when wet - I wonder if the inks used now are water based? This did not happen when I water soaked older cancelled stamps that had the glue you licked.)

I personally love the heat and enjoy my handful of hot days each year - just wish we all didn't have to work and could lounge around outside all day! XD

Result of freezing my stamps: yep, you can peel them off with a bit of love, way cleaner than soaking. But they are sticky as all get out, you need to either use them immediately or put them on wax paper.

ArtsyOne

I left them in there for a couple of hours... maybe 6? And I agree, they defrost very quickly, I could only use the effect for 2 stamps. I'll probably only use this technique when I have a very small amount of stamps that I want to use immediately.

Envelopes going out to ... katelnorth, CastleQueen5, sweetgypsy, Karr3ll and BluSkyHare.

Just to let you know I do receive lots of lovely full envelopes of CRRR sets, but I don't tend to post when I receive them.

I also will sit with them for a while sometimes if I don't get any inspiration immediately. Each time I have a crafting session I will lay them all out and see what strikes me at the time ... and this varies on what kind of mood I'm in. There can be a set that has been sat for a while and suddenly something clicks and I know what I want to put on that set!

So ... what I'm saying (in a very roundabout way) for you not to worry if your set hasn't been seen for a while ... I know inspiration will strike someday soon!

Happy crafting everyone!

Ok, I think I'd like to give CRRs a try! I understand the basics of what we do, but I feel like I'm still fuzzy on a bit of the details, so forgive me if I have stupid questions. My first question is about the likes and dislikes of players. The original post talks about making sure you avoid players dislikes. It kind of sounds like there is someplace where these are listed, but I don't see anything like that. Do we just check profiles? Thanks!

LucyMC, I'm the same way. I don't post finished cards, and when I get cards, I have to wait until I know exactly what they "need"!

TSMarie, I think you will enjoy round robins! It’s a good way to get art from a variety of artists in a continuous and random way. Everyone gets an original card, not a copy or a print!

Karr3ll, thanks for posting all those phots of the Dis-similar cards I started. WOW you were the 3rd player a ton of times but from many different players. Do you find that odd or coincidence that some many players mailed 3rds to you?

They came out awesome Thanks to all.

I know it's not required, but I try to say when I receive envelopes, partly because I'm further away (for most of you) - though frankly, mail between the US and the UK seems to be more reliable than between states, at least some time. That said, will there actually be any mailboxes available for mailing round robins in the next few months in the US?

Recently, I've had envelopes from lucymc and suzi, which I don't think I mentioned.

Monday I did some sewing and today I just hung out and went to play some crazy golf with my son and DH, but tomorrow I'm going to see if I can get some sets done. I don't have a lot waiting, but there are some. Also trying to get ahead with some starters for when I get back to work.

Plus, I actually joined two swaps! I haven't joined a swap in months and months. But these were Hallowe'en swaps, so how could I resist?

Castlequeen I was excited to receive so many of the Dis-similar sets (as 3rd person) - I kinda figured I received a few as I’m open to any theme of cards, and they are fairly different... I’m an easy choice to add a third embellishment :)

Hey all!

A reminder……..PLEASE look at the dislikes before you add something to a card someone else has worked on. If it is something they don’t like, don’t add it.

Also if it is something someone does not like don’t send them the card to work on.

I have received some pms of players getting something they didn’t like. It makes it less fun when you get cards you really don’t want to put in your collection.

BluSkyHare
08-22-2020, 07:12 AM
thanks for the reminder, xstitcher, especially after all the work you did splitting the list. I apologize if I sent something like that. I'll work on pretty much anything, but if I get a set of cards that I just cannot connect with or decide what it needs, I pass them on to someone who might like them. I mean, this is random, right? :)

I guess mistakes happen, we are all just human. ;) But for me it's okay as long as it's an honest mistake, not a general attitude of "I don't care, I never check dislikes."

I do find it a bit hard to remember to check the dislikes of the person(s) who worked on a set before me! Sometimes I get all swept up in an idea and cut it all out and arrange it and only just remember to check the list before assembling everything. ^^°

It's totally logical to me to check the list when mailing, since I need the current addresses anyway (and check whether the person I want to send something is even active right now)... but the ones who did their work on a set before me, that's the tricky part. ^^°

Did quite a bit of work on cards over the past few days including lots of additions as a second player (which I'm not showing because I like that surprise element, lol). Here are the cards I've finished recently.

217725 dissimilar set started by CQ5, then karr3ll, me
217726 dissimilar set started by CQ5, then heymaggie, me
217727 sewing themed card started by chimerix, then thouartdelyrias, me
217728 painted red card started by chimerix, then prayeratnight, me - the scan of this is quite fuzzy because the paper flower is quite 3d

217729 postcard/binoculars started by karr3ll, then angeljoy, me

A few envelopes going out tomorrow to castlequeen, chimerix, bluskyhare. There will be more later in the week when I work on some more sets which have recently arrived.

Just wanted to say, as well, that I'm gradually working my way through a stack of cards where I need to leave iTrader - I hate this 2 hour rule! That 2 hour rule is the worst! I think at one time I had like 10 sets that BluSkyHare had worked on here... so annoying when you always have to wait 2 hours, and then you forget it again... argh! ;D

Here are some sets I finished lately:

217809
chimerix - katelnorth - me
There was a bit of a sublte hexagon pattern going on on the horizontal paper strips, so my mind went "beeeeeees!" ;)

217810
Karr3ll - chimerix - me
At first I thought this was autumn themed, but then I realised it was actually about writing, so I added an author. :3

217811
ThouArtDelyrias - vick302000 - me
This is much nicer and more balanced in person - definitely makes me smile, and hopefully has the same effect on my co-workers here! :)

217812
lindagiese - Lucymc - me
The background is even lovelier in person, I love the textures and the gold! <3

Also, I have received a few sets of buddy cards now and enjoyed working on them, so I'm thinking of starting a couple myself. I realise this group is not a buddy card group, but I had a peek at that thread and noted some familiar faces over there. ;) So if you've been active in the buddy card group or have sent me buddy cards before, you might be getting some from me sometime soon-ish. Hope that's okay. I didn't feel like I should just send them out randomly...

If anyone else would like to get a set of buddy cards, feel free to yell at me! <3
(And if someone gets any and doesn't want to work on them, please let me know - and sorry!)

heymaggie
08-26-2020, 09:25 AM
YES!! That 2 hour rule sucks. I didn’t think I would ever get caught up with Karr3ll’s iTraders. Does anyone besides me use the yellow sticky note icon to return iTraders? It turns gray when it’s completed and makes it easy to tell what’s going on.

I want that octagon bee hive die! Who has that die? Want to trade some die cuts? Put some of those in your next envy to me and I’ll send you some cool cuts in exchange.

Those are some great sets, prayer_at_night!!

Also, I looked at the buddy card group too and the only thing that kept me from joining was that you have to post your starters on the group and wait for someone to ask for them. (Memories of being picked last at school come to mind). Also I prefer random like this group.

That being said, anything I send you that doesn’t inspire you or you prefer not to work on, feel free to slide into the next envelope you send out to someone else. I’m always cool with the randomness of that. We’re all buddies, after all!

Also, please don’t throw away any sets from outside players. That’s just mean. Send them to me. I trade with a lot of artists outside of AFA and will work on anyone’s sets.

If you put your AFA user name on the cards, it won’t get accidentally mixed in with the outsider groups. (Probably my fault that happened in the first place. I apologize for that.) That’s really all that’s needed anyway, cause we use the list to get the addresses and the list is alphabetical by your user name, so easy to find.

Well, that’s my 2 cents for this am. :v_spin:

I''m on Homers right now, but wanted to cast my vote for including Buddies in this thread (which I'm already doing with a couple people). We do APCs and Coins. So why not!

I like the randomness of this thread and, as long as one knows who likes random Buddies, or PMs them first before mailing, I think it's just fine.

I'm going to start writing down who in this thread says they like the Buddy cards, as I have done with who likes coins.

Yay, plumhill! So glad your surgeries went well and you can read again - awesome!

For me, going Homers Only is something of a death trap for my creativity. As long as I'm active, receive some new sets now and then, I always get new inspiration to work on the sets I have. And I don't get stressed even if I have like 20 sets (collective box for me and mom), because the muse will come.

But if I'm on homers, I won't allow myself to come back to active as long as I still have any sets left, but I also don't get any new inspiration because I never get any new sets, so I sit on those last few sets for ages and mope because I want to join the active crew but feel that I can't and... it's stupid, but it really kills my joy. ^^°

I had the same cateract surgery last year and am almost 70. My eyesight hasn’t been this good since jr. high. That’s a long time cause they started calling jr high middle school a long time ago. I still have to use reading glasses too, but I don’t need glasses to drive anymore. I highly recommend if your ophthalmologist says you need it. My eye doctor told me March of 2019 I needed to have the surgery done. I said no way, not going to happen, I can still see. He said I could wait a year but I need to have it done before it got to bad to fix. Since you waited 5 years it looks like I have 4 to go!!

Honestly the thought of it scares me. I know of an older gentleman, probably late 70's early 80's, who had some kind of eye surgery and now he can barely see. I am not sure what it was and really don't know him well enough to ask so it could be something totally different from cataract surgery.

I agree with heymaggie, if you go on homers because you have to much stacked up to do you certainly don't have to wait to be caught up to come back

Just another note about cataract surgery...there was no pain. I was really scared too and that’s the reason I kept putting it off. But it’s a really short surgery time (about 15-20 minutes) with absolutely no pain before during or after. I wasn’t nervous about the second eye at all. So don’t put it off too long as there is a risk to your eyesight if you do wait too long. You will be amazed and delighted at the whole procedure and the results. Go ahead and schedule it as soon as it’s safe to do so. Carona-wise, that is. I’m so glad I did it.

I have several envelopes that I plan to finish up and sent out this weekend. Does anyone go out very early in the morning? Mars is super bright and near the moon in the early sky. It was beautiful.

Received a couple of envelopes of stuff recently (maybe 4) and hope to do some work tomorrow -made some PAT cards today -it's been a while since I joined a swap, lol.

One of the envelopes contained cards started by clarie42 for me to finish, which was nice - because she doesn't normally want to be in with international players (which I totally get, it's very expensive, in fact worse on my end, so I'm lucky I can afford to play!), I don't get a lot of cards she's worked on. But because she doesn't have to mail these back to me, that doesn't matter, and I can continue to broaden the variety of artists in my collection!

I love to play with different players and see all the different art styles! I worked out that if Clarie42 is the second player then she wouldn't be affected by the international costs ...?

Just another note about cataract surgery...there was no pain. I was really scared too and that’s the reason I kept putting it off. Glad it went okay. :jiggy: You're very brave, any thought of surgery on eyes makes me feel so squeamish.

BTW, I had my second cataract surgery yesterday and had my post op check up this morning. I went straight to Walmart and bought reading glasses for close up viewing, and now I'm back in the online game! So nice to be able to READ again! :)
My distance vision is excellent, so no glasses for that. First time in 55 years! :jiggy:

And so pleased your surgery went well too! :jiggy:

LucyMc and Heymaggie I agree. Glad the surgury was such a success and yes, any eye surgury just makes me want to run! I could probably use a hip replacement but don't want to do that either. Have you seen what they do?! No thanks!

Thanks for posting this. Actually the thought of pain does not bother me. The top reason for waiting is how much money will it cost and 2nd is loss of eye sight.

I had physical therapy on my shoulder for about 3 months and the cost was ridiculous! No one is worth the kind of money they charge!!! I have hip pain now and the doctor suggested physical therapy again until other tests can determine what the problem is but I really don’t want to spend the money on either thing so for now I just hurt. As long as I can walk, what is the problem??

It is expensive! I've had a few rounds with physical therapy and now I ask my doctor to only order 3-4 sessions. I want them to evaluate my problem and show me how to stretch and exercise to get improvement. Then I can do it at home. I usually space out the last appointment like 2-3 weeks out so I can see how I'm doing and have plenty of time to come up with questions, etc. I'm huge on patient advocacy and I have a good relationship with my doctor so he would tell me if it's something that I actually need more PT but in general he listens and considers my preferences.

TSMarie, many of us like to let the others know that a letter has arrived - simply because mail machines can be dangerous creatures. ;)
But it's not a requirement or a rule, and if you forget it or don't have time to write a post, that's fine as well.

You should only write iTraders when you hold the finished card in your hand, though, I think.

...also, because I forgot: got a letter from chimerix, lovely homers and a beautiful starter set!

Sally always did seem to have a temper. RIDE sally ride, and all that. Be safe.

Had to add>>>>>> what were they thinking naming a Hurricane Sally, they were just asking for trouble.

LOLA is another name!

We are safely back home and our house was spared, unlike many of our neighbors who lost carports, porches, storage sheds, and roofs. We had many people praying for us. Pur neighbor said "It looks like God's hand was over your corner lot." Indeed it was! Thank you all for your concern and prayers. God is good.

So glad for you, Lorrie! Wow, that's a LOOOONG time to be without power!

It was, but fortunately we are on "city water" so we at least could use our water. We are so grateful, though, for all the help that has been available down here. We were able to get enough bottled water for drinking (there was a short-lived boil water mandate) and enough ice to keep our chest freezer cold, so we only lost the food from the fridge and the small fridge freezer. But so many organizations were handing out ice, water, food, cleaning supplies, etc. and over 1500 electric crews came from all over the US to help with power restoration. The crew that powered us up were from GA. Since my hubby is a retired chief lineman, he had a good chat with them (and he knew what they were talking about...hahaha). So, all in all, we are very blessed considering how bad the storm turned out to be. We were inconvenienced, but blessed!

So I wasnt really sure where to start telling people on this site. This seems like the best place.

Bottom line if you are sending me a homer, of course add in other crrr sets to make it worth the postage, but dont really go out of your way to send me sets to work on, I have no Idea how much time or energy I am going to have.

I started Chemo tomorrow at 9 am for Ovarian cancer that has spread. Prognosis is good. If you are the praying type. I am wanted others to pray, that chemo will target the cancer areas, not damage my organs and not cause neuropathy in my hands and feet.

I know there is much more I could say, but I hope that is enough for now.

Heavenly Father, great and glorious God, we praise you. We ask that you hold your daughter, Heather, closely in your protective loving arms. Be her strength, her comfort, her courage, and her hope as you guide her doctors in her care and treatment. Spare the rest of her body as the chemo targets the cancer. In You, all things are possible. We ask these things in the name of your precious son, Jesus Christ, amen.
