View Full Version : Round Robin Flat Rate Envelope Ephemera/Paper Swap

Hey all,

I am totally copying other people because the idea is so totally awesome (did that sound Valley Girl or what???) I would like to get a round robin ephemera/paper swap going and am starting out with a few Priority flat rate envelops (12X9.5). There are three envelops going out and only 12X9.5 Priority mailers should be used. Any and all items that fit within are fair game, especially pictures, book pages, paper, and small embellishments like flower pieces, paper clips, buttons, and other goodies. What ever you remove, you must replace in kind (a piece of paper for a piece of paper, an embellishment for an embellishment, etc.). Please include small baggies of items instead of free-floating items.

Sorry, but due to prices, no international players! 8 players per mailer.
Sign up ASAP and let's get this finished ASAP! No religious or offensive material please. Keep nudity to a tasteful minimum, but it is allowed.

***PLEASE POST ITRADERS FOR THE PERSON WHO SENT YOU THE MAILER***

How much is the flat rate envelope? And is it the same price to mail it international? International players wouldn't have a priority flat rate envelope to use.
I'd like to play maybe.

Can I have a middle place in one group and an end place in another?

rockstarsgirl
08-19-2008, 02:01 AM
If it's the envies, I think they cost $4.80 domestic and $13.95 to send it internationally

kysunflower
08-19-2008, 08:56 AM
I wouldn't want to have to send it internationally then, thats way too much for just an envelope.

I agree. If there happens to be a envie that's not going international OR if I can get in a spot that I won't have to send international, I'd love to join. I have lots of stuff I can add in there. :)

You're right folks. Paying international is just too much (so sorry), so, let's make it a North America one to start out with.

I've added kysunflower, angelamariex3, and rockstargirl to the lists. More players???

AngelaMariex3
08-19-2008, 05:46 PM
Is it possible at all for me to get a top at the spot in one envie, and a top at the bottom in another? If not, that's fine. Would be fun though, I think! :)

GarageBandFan
08-19-2008, 09:39 PM
I would like to be near the top in one and near the bottom in another also... if not just pick one and put me on the bottom of it!

Welcome all the newest members. I totally wish there was a way to include international in, but as someone with money issues, I can totally understand the hefty prices. There are so many talented non-American artists, it is really a shame not to include them. Perhaps a group who doesn't mind paying the fees can set up something???

You will be filling the envelopes and sending them off to the first person on the list, correct? I noticed someone said something similiar to them filling it and sending it off, so I just want to verify.

Thanks :)

isisjean
08-22-2008, 04:17 PM
So, here is how it goes: I will mail out the first mailer with kysunflower's address on it. Everyone else holds tight. Kysun will swap out the materials and pieces she wishes and restock the materials into a new, but equal sized and priced, mailed (9X12 Priority Mailer) and send it on to GarageBandFan. It is Kysun's responsibility, once she is ready to send the mailer back out, to get Garage's addy. In turn Garage will get the next member on the list. Once all members are done, I will receive the mailer back. If you want to include delivery confirmation, please do, I will!

kysunflower
08-22-2008, 05:11 PM
I got my envelope today and already got garagebandfan's addy, so I am all set. Even have a few things set out to put in it, but I won't know for sure whats going in it till I see whats in it now and what I take out.

Received the envelope this afternoon, and got some goodies, some I cut, like the b&w school year book pages in order to share them with everyone else. i also added some cool stuff, which I hope someone will like.
I'll be mailing it out later this week when I mail the ephemera box, which was mailed to me today, so it looks like Thursday maybe to mail back out.

I'd be happy to play in Mailers #2 and #3; I'd like to be first or second in Mailer #3 and toward the end on Mailer #2 if that's ok? I don't mind starting out on the third one, unless someone else wants that spot ...

Both box and envie going out tomorrow when my hubby gets home from work. Our post office is closed Saturdays so that slows me down another day, plus the usual Sunday and today, holiday. Sorry, if everything had went smooth and the box arrived when it should and the post office not closed 3 days in row both would have been gone already.

What do I do? Wait for something to arrive take what I want and replace it then send it off to the next person?

isisjean
09-03-2008, 02:54 PM
Hey Moony, you wait until you get the mailer from the person before. You take what items you want and then put new items (somewhat similar to or equal to what you take). You can take as much as you want, but you must replace the items. Once you have gotten the items and replaced the items, you get the address for the next person on the list and send the packet off (same size, 4.80 flat rate priority envelop) to them and enjoy your items!! I will sign you up for mailer 2. Do you want to participate in mailer 3 too?

GBF would have recieved it yesterday since she recieved the box, I was able to work the envelope into the top of the box and risk a bulge on top (they didn't say anythng like the last guy did), since both were going to her. She said in the other thread she intened on mailing I beleive it was Friday.

isisjean
09-05-2008, 02:03 PM
Hey all,

Garagebandfan made an excellent point: she received her mailer and discovered, through the help of her scale, that it is cheaper to send the materials in a regular 8.5X11 envelop and sent first class. I had decided upon Priority because it is a bit faster (though maybe I am misguided) and it is easy to do each and every time. But, since this has been brought to my attention, if you wish to send the mailer in another way at a cheaper amount, please feel free!!!

Mailer #3 has arrived...Not as full as I expected, so I may send it out first class, depending on postage $. I did find some fun things...flocked paper in three or four styles (promise I only took a small piece of each!), some scrapbook papers, some vintage advertising images, a sheet of alphabet stickers, and a few clippings...there's still more of each, as well as some calendar pages, sparkly stickers, dimensional stickers, scrapbook sayings etc. I'm adding: vintage book pages, tags, cancelled postage stamps, stamped images...at least...I'll let you know when it goes postal again!

Mailer #3 is at last en route to South Carolina! it went out yesterday a.m., so I'm guessing should arrive by Tuesday at the latest. I have a confirmation # if anyone needs it (will check later today on its progress). It is stuffed full; The package was an inch and a half thick, or so! I taped it, all around, but was gently informed by my very-nice-mail-lady that, technically, that's a no-no. You're allowed a single strip of tape to reinforce the flap, but that's it. She let it go, though. (Cost with confirmation is $5.45.)

I just finished going through the very filled to bulging envelope that I received and I have to admit that I couldn't live without so-o-o-o much of the stuff in it. I vacillated between keeping everything I knew I could use and not wanting to be too greedy. In the end, I did take what I really liked and knew that I would use. I had a lot of fun picking out all the items with which to refill the envelope. I was able to fill it with lots of decorative and homemade papers in addition to lots of scrapbooking supplies and embellishments. I hope that was okay.

I was wondering about that myself... I gave iTrader to isisjean for sending it to me, because I thought we were supposed to, but I didn't get iTrader so I'm not sure if I wasn't suppose to give iTrader or not? Hopefully someone can clear this up for us.

Can we PLEASE have the first post updated to indicate where the mailers are? its very confusing to follow the thread. There are people in multiple groups and I don't know when to expect it.

I do agree... It took me a while to be able to scan through all the threads to find where the mailers are... that's when I noticed there hasn't been an update for 1, in a while :-/

Mailers #1 and #3 are with rockstargirl (post #94) and #2 (I think, although she said 'box', not envelope?) is with garagebandfan (post #103) I believe mailer #1 goes to Cheeka next, and mailers #2 and #3 to Moony. It might help to specify which mailer you have when in arrives/ leaves your hands. Has anyone pmed isisjean about updating the original post?

Okay, I must apologize for the delay in responding. I guess these round robins require a bit different approach. Thus, so that I can update the FRONT POSTING as of October 6th, 2008, please let me know where the mailers are! Yes, there are multiple people and thus it should be clearly stated in this thread which mailer is received when and by whom.

Okay, since Moony is the fulcrum right now: she HAS not received any mailers, but DID give her address to rockstargirl for mailer #3 and garagebandfan mailer #2. So, Mailer's 2 and 3 are in transit and will arrive to Moony soon. She will update us or at least me about that.

I will update the top post now with the #2 and #3 info.

10-05-2008, 11:54 PM
Okay, based upon what I was able to figure out I updated the front post. If it looks wrong to anyone, please let me know!

Also, to thank you all for a great round robin and to apologize for this mid-sending snafu, please PM your addys and I will send EACH of you a goodie thank you! :)

I think with delivery confirmation it's like $7.00 - well worth it! This envie is super-delicious! I've just been so effin busy!

frogwings
10-10-2008, 10:45 PM
My cost, with delivery confirmation, was $5.45 (post #85) It really would be good to hear from folks when these are rec'd or sent...and what sorts of stuff is finding new homes! I added *lots* of stuff to mailer #3, and heard good things about it from carolina soap chef, who came after me...but no news since then. Has anyone else had luck finding goodies? Inquiring minds (okay, nosy minds...mine!) want to know.

Cheeka

I guess it depends on if you do the flat rate priority - which I do!

frogwings
10-10-2008, 11:02 PM
Hmmm....that's what I did too...how odd! The base cost I think was $4.80, and the del. confirmation another .65. I wonder if there are different sizes of flat rate envies, or if it's different in other parts of the country? The envie I sent was 9" x 12"....The mysteries of the postal service! At least our two experiences will give you the range of cost you can expect...

I had thought of going with regular postage, since the evelope was not very full when I got it...but I found lots to add, so it was pretty hefty leaving here, and I went ahead with the flat rate. It might be worthwhile to check the options, especially if the envie is not too too bulky.

Yeah, I hear you. The envelope only have a few sheets of paper in it, so I was thinking about just doing a regular envelope... but I found quite a bit to add to it so I went with flat rate. I have another stack for the next envelope coming in, so I can stuff that one too! :)

:unsure::unsure::unsure:
Anyway, it is filled to bulging capacity and will be going postal to Rockstargirl tomorrow.:v_spin:

Just to let you know. I used 'CLICK AND SHIP' at http://www.usps.com and got a discount on postage because I bought it online. (cost was only $4.75 & delivery confirmation was free). I love that I didn't have to go to the post office as I very often don't have a vehicle to get there. I also order a variety of priority mail envelopes and boxes online for free so I have what I need here.:)

I too would like to know if I refilled it with things that were acceptable and pleasing to those following me. Especially right now because this was my first RR flat rate envie. However, I do have to admit to sending a lot more "supplies" instead of a lot of "ephemera"; but, only because I haven't accumulated a lot of "ephemera" as yet.:spinny:

There has been some worry because it has been awhile since anyone heard about the mailers. Also, it appears that they may have been sent out already, thus, it is a mystery why it would be weird for one not to have the mailer yet. Moony is my sister (and 3 hours away from me), so I am in constant contact with her.

Hi everyone,

I received Mailer #2 on Sat. p.m.'s mail. I'm just adding some clear epoxy stickers/page pebbles and some regular stickers.

I am going to be honest here and hope & pray that it is taken well. I have to say that I was super disappointed in Mailer # 2. By the time that it got to me, it had very little in it except for a few decorative papers, a bit of ephemera/stickers & a few fibers, along with, (I'm not sure how this happened) a couple of baggies of stuff that I had put into Mailer #3. It was about half full.

I only take out what I can use in my art so you will never find what I take out of one mailer put back into another mailer. I might be out of line but (& if I am please forgive me for being a neophyte), I joined 2 different mailers so that I could sort through 2 different sets of items. Since my items were put back into this mailer then I'm wondering if perhaps I'm not filling these properly. Someone please let me know and if you don't want to do it in a thread then by all means, PLEASE pm me. I certainly don't want to fill the envelopes with things that are not wanted.

Anyway, I went ahead and filled it the best that I could & again added a few craft supplies because that is what I have the most of. My goal in doing these RR's was to acquire some much needed collage items. I had next to nothing and didn't really know the websites where I could get free images. Plus, I want it to be exciting for the next person to open up!

Again, please forgive me and if I am out of line I will not be upset if you all let me know. I did take a few stickers out but that was it. The envelope will go out today to Frogwings. Hey girl! I believe I put your address in my newly handcrafted ATC address book! Hope you like what I put in it.

Thank you. Berkeley Elisabeth:)

isisjean
10-29-2008, 04:19 PM
So sorry to hear that Berkeley. You are not doing anything wrong, at all!

Apparently there was some mix up with another player who also received both mailers and she/he mixed up the items that resided in each mailer.

I had hoped that this would be a fun affair, but I am thinking it could have been better explained (I guess I thought this was all common sense).

Thank you, thank you for filling up that mailer, and I am sorry you did not receive the items you wished. Please PM your address and I will send you several image/collage sheets as an apology and to get you going on some collage projects!! :)

So...Mailer #2 is here with me...arrived this morning. Berdeley did a great job filling it back up! But I have to agree with her that overall, it was a bit disappointing to find some stuff I had put into Mailer #3 mysteriously returning in a different mailer! Why take out stuff you're not planning to use, only to pass it along in a different mailer?? If you don't want it, leave it be! The whole idea, I thought, was to add *new* stuff, not someone else's recycled stuff. I joined a second mailer to see new possibilities, not my own stuff back. Whew. Sorry, but it really is annoying!

Anyhow, I did find some cool things, and will replace them (with either new stuff of my own, or stuff I've received in PIFs that wasn't quite my style.) The envelope will be on its way home to isisjean on Monday!

I am REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY sorry to you all that this has not worked out as we had wished! I really want to make it up to everyone and do invite you all to send my your addresses so I can send everyone a make-up, thank you gift and apology.

I am not sure what happened...though I wonder if it might not have been someone who received both mailers and just, for whatever reason, got them mixed up and miss-mailed. I will have stuff leftover and that I do not need nor want and would like to try another robin stuff swap and know now what I need to do to guarantee a much smoother trade off. I hope I haven't turned off anyone to this next venture...I will get it right!!

Again, I offer my apologies!

Hi all,

I finally got the last mailer, mailer 2, from frogwings. Thanks for the lovely items in it!

Having learned from the mistakes of this process, I would love to redo another swap but with a box and only one at a time. I am already sorting through stuff and getting some categories set and hopefully a ton of vintage and retro images to start. I am looking to start this around the New Year and welcome all of you to return and try take 2 with me again!

Thanks all for participating, even if at times it was a bit foggy and confusing!

Happy Holidays!
