:D Hello Everyone! It is that time again! After the M.A.C.S. ( make a child smile )
shut down over the summer for website maintance, they are currently opened up again as of today~

So we have 3 new beautifull little children that would be so happy to receive mail from all of you kind and talented artists. You can send as little or as much as you wish, within your budget of course. Some of us only send a greeting card and a couple of ATC's and some of us go all out and send crayons, coloring books, cards etc ... this is totally up to you.

* You can sign up for all 3 kids or just 1.
* Post to the thread and let me know what kids you want to send to and I will put your name on the list.
* Be sure you send out your items so they arrive by the last day of September.

WHOEVER SIGNS UP TO SEND TO ATLEAST 1 OF THESE SPECIAL CHILDREN, YOUR NAME WILL BE PUT INTO A DRAWING THE END OF THE MONTH, AT WHICH 1 NAME WILL BE CHOSSEN TO RECEIVE A SPECIAL SUPRISE.

THIS WILL BE A EVERY MONTH THING WITH ME AND ARTCARDS TAKING TURNS HOSTING! SHE WILL BE DOING THIS NEXT MONTH~

Hey guys, I'm so excited to share this with you.....you know how those Blog sites offer giveaways? Well, I entered several and in my comments mentioned that if I won, the prize would be donated to one of my MACS kids and described how we donate each month, etc. As a result, one of the Blog Site owners requested an interview, which appeared in "passingminutes@gmail.com", which Robin provided AND today I received an email that I had won a corduroy teddy bear through one of the giveaways, which I will be sending to Luke. I just had to share this with all of you:)

I also want to share something. I was perusing the forums when I saw "September MACS", I had no idea what it was, but felt like I should check it out. When I saw the pictures of the children, I was drawn to Connor and signed up immediately. Once I figured out how to get the info on him......WOW! He is from my home state NC...which I miss terribly, and he has a brain tumor. I had a brain tumor (benign) removed in March 2007!! How's that for karma?!! donna

Being an oncology nurse, I thought I would post a few do's and don't's..Hope this is OK.
PS..when sending personal items, please be mindful of the following...
No hair items..chemo and rad. has taken their hair
No lotions...chemo and rad. has made their skin tender and red

Great things to send.
art cards you have made, art supplies
scarves, hats, sunglasses
books
games
playing cards
journals, writing papers, pens, pencils

Don't forget to look into their profile and find out what they enjoy!!!!

Last, but not least...Enjoy that wonderful, warm fuzzy feeling you expereince after making a child SMILE....

Robin - I mailed off my goody packages to Luke and Tatiana today:) Some of the goodies for Luke included Crayola Markers, age-appropriate ATC's, a wristband pedometer, a brand new teddy bear (that I won) and stickers and Tatiana got all kinds of girly jewelry, wristband pedometer, ATCs, small handbag or makeup bag filled with lip glosses and more! It always makes me feel so good to send off these packages to the MACS kids:)

Hi - please sign me up for Luke and Connor.

This summer I had chemo for breast cancer and on Wednesday, Sept 24 I will be having a double mastecomy. I can tell you first hand how much all the cards, well wishes and goodies mean. I have a huge bulletin board in my living room and everytime I look at the cards I smile. I truly believe, in my heart of hearts, that all the love, support and good vibes from family, friends, friends of friends, co-workers, neighbors, strangers, survivors and all the other well wishers are just as crucial to a healthy recovery as a good attitude, excellent medical care and healthy habits.

Wishing you all good health - and remember to get a mammogram.

Wow! That is so cool!!
I just realized that I forgot to post what I sent to Connor.
I made an altered CD with a big Mickey Mouse on it, a neato card with Mickey Mouse, a coloring book and twist up crayons, and, a friend of mine made a clear glass ornament with Mickey Mouse inside!
