Happy Independence Day to us Americans! The sun has been shining on us here at last. We had a spell of chilly gray weather. I have ideas for Bex's moley and hope to jump in this weekend!! I hope everyone else is having a great summer! Dana, I'd love to meet you in person once you're settled in your new job. We go down to Royal Oak on occasion to see family and shop.

I kinda like the idea of enclosing the book with a glass door, so that you can take it out and look at it. Our house is dusty. I don't think I'd want to leave it out all the time.

You all have great ideas. I never even pondered the presentation of our moleys! Cheryl, your photo of the book in the frame is so cool! I'm like Mary, our house is dusty too. Between it being old and having a dog and cat, plus a dirt driveway...I can't keep the place from being a dusty dander haven. Besides, I'd rather paint or draw than clean.:twitcy:
Mary, you were asking about a little cloth pouch...that was probably mine. I got carried away and made a little bag for my moley. It's green and maroon.

I really like the idea that Altered used, displaying her book in a frame. After all, when visitors come in and see it they would probably ask why you have that book in a frame, and so you naturally have to get it out and show them all that wonderful artwork and so the conversation will of course turn to art - yes, I REALLY like that idea!

Ok Cheryl, I examined your photo of the frame with the book...did you create that niche? If so, how? It's so intriguing. I can see why everyone wants to read it!

I got invited to join that Sept. group too Mary...I had to force myself to say no. I even have a blank moley, so I was tempted...I have just had such a crazy summer I didn't want to stress myself out. I'm sure I'll get roped into another one down the road. These are fun groups. I like that we don't have a rigid deadline. We kind of put fire under each other's butts just by peer pressure.:twitcy: I'm starting Bex's book and then Mary's will be my last one. It's going to be strange to get our books back but so fun to open and browse!!! I need to take mine to the post office and show one of the workers. I told her all about our project and she was fascinated. I promised to bring it in for her to see!

ANOTHER MOLEY RETURNS HOME


Hooray, my moley came home today, and what a treat it is to behold. Well, I didn't open it straight away as I had a Dr's appt. But I couldn't stop thinking about it. When I got home, I made a nice cup of coffee and sat down in my fav chair to ponder slowly over my lovely book, taking in every detail on every page. And then I had all the lovely letters to read on the back. Thank you all for putting so much of yourselves into this. I hope you all love your moleys as much as I love mine. I can only say thank you, thank you, thank you, for all your unique and wonderful artwork and your time and thoughtfulness. Oh yes, and very importantly - I'm so glad I'm not alone with my quirky little 'obsessions' hehe.....

Well ladies, I'm packing for a solo art retreat. I'm loading up as many supplies as I can and I'm heading north to our family Aframe on Lake Superior. It will be me, the beach, a fireplace, no phone, no t.v., and art supplies. I hope I don't get too many visitors while I'm there. I'm stopping to see family but I'm counting on a little time to be alone and recharge my battery. It's supposed to be rainy and in the 50s-60s.

Mary, your moley is en route to Canada. I hope it reaches you soon!!

I'm still struggling a bit with Alteredmommy's. I've drawn out so many ideas for it and they haven't worked out, but I have one now that really looks promising. I dunno, this one is sorta stressing me. I almost wonder if its because its the last one. You know, you sorta hate for it all to end, yet its exciting that it is?

But lo and behold in my mailbox was my moley!

OMG guys, its so awesome! It truly is. I knew I'd love it, but to be totally TOTALLY honest, I'm rather surprised by just how truly precious it feels to me.

I just want to thank you ALL for being part of it. I love every little bit. Every little cut out and painted squiggle!!!

LOL I was also hoping to be able to work on my last entry this afternoon too, and just seeing mine has totally energized me. So I'm off to draw and paint and take short breaks so I can gaze at MY moley!!!!!

I will leave iTraders later after I've gotten a chance to just touch and look at it some more. I'm supposed to be getting some rest, so don't tell anyone!

I had a great time at the lakeshore. I did three little paintings and a few other sketches and things. The last night, I had a nice cozy fire, music and a guest...A BAT!!! I loaded up and ended up driving to my brother's at 1:00 a.m. to sleep on his couch!! Other than that, the trip was great!

I'm sorry for the challenge Eggy! I know how life can get us into slumps at times. That's one thing that this community is good for--pulling each other out of the pits. Hopefully things are looking up for you. Heck, even if you felt like expressing something anti-happiness, I'm all for it. It's about what's on your mind and heart! Art is therapeutic...sometimes angry art helps me let out frustrations. It might not end up "pretty" but somehow it helps me release the demons.:goofy: I look forward to seeing what you added to the collection of creations!!

I got a chance to work on this last moley while I was gone. I'm really pleased with it so far, so hope to finish it up this week. Just adding shading and more color and such now.

Oh, I'm so happy Cheryl!!!! It starts to get a little nerve wracking at this point, to have the books en route! They seem so vulnerable out in the great unknown, full of everyone's hard work!:unsure: So far so good!!!
I can't wait to see my final product!! This group is really a talented bunch!!!!!! I'll be carrying around my moley to show off forever!:) That's once alteredmommy and Wendy get done. I better not count my chicks before they hatch!

Hey ladies, I've been away for the last three weeks swimming with the GORGEOUS fishes in the Red Sea. So glad that more moleys are finding their way home. Mine has pride of place in my studio at the moment, but hubby is going to build me a fantastic display case for it so I can display it for all my family and friends to see. It's already been admired by so many visitors and my oldest friend who was also my closest art rival at school (and who hasn't lifted a paint brush for years) has gone out and bought some art supplies, as she was so inspired by the book. Another big, big thank you to you all for your wonderful contributions to my own moley.

I agree with everything Wendy said. Except, I've never been to the Red Sea. All I know is Moses parted it way back when! It sounds like you had fun Bex! I hope I can figure out a cool way to display my book like you plan to!

Hey Wendy, I was in Egypt for a few days before going to visit my sister in Kuwait and then I went back to Egypt before flying home. The Red Sea is absolutely STUNNING. Anyway, my display case only came about because I had to have my patio windows replaced. Well the chap left us with the old ones and so I have huge sheets of glass to dispose of. I came up with the idea of cutting it into a long glass fronted case that can double as a shelf. I hope it turns out as good as it looks in my head haha.

Its here! Its here!!! It arrived last week but I didn't get a chance to open it till now!!! The elements journal is fantastic, incredible, an amazing piece of art!!! Lucky me!

Everyone did just a smash up job on it. Mary - I LOVE the pages in person. They are so wonderful!!! Cheryl - the pages you did are just so perfect for me! They are very cool. I got my precious moleskine at last!!! I had to set it aside until I got through supper and was able to sit down with a cup of coffee to take it all in! I feel so honored to have it in my possession!! Everyone did an outstanding job, I can't say enough. I shared it with my friend and now she wants to be in the next one I participate in!:D Somewhere on it's journey, the little cloth case I sewed got lost but I'm just grateful the book survived. Off I go to leave pts. for you all!! Thanks for the fun. I think I'm officially the last recipient. It was a great success ladies. Merry Christmas and a Happy 2010!!
