Let's Make December the best month yet. I know our lives are busy but let take a moment out to send a little something to our kids....


The stories of courageous kids that you'll read on this website will touch your heart. Here, kids with life threatening illnesses are featured monthly. Each name will link to their stories.
All we ask of you is to mail a nice card to our Featured Kids of the Month. If you can also afford to send a small gift that would be wonderful! You can pick one or all 3 kids.
Featured children are not the only ones who benefit from the mail. It touches the whole family! Even the children's young siblings end up receiving their own mail! One month we had a Featured child's grandfather thank us on the board. Very touching!!

Some kids are too young to really understand where the cards and gifts are coming from, but it makes their parents happy to know that strangers they never met, care about their child and are sending their love and support.

How can you help?

So we have 3 new beautiful little children that would be so happy to receive mail from all of you kind and talented artists. You can send as little or as much as you wish, within your budget of course. Some of us only send a greeting card and a couple of ATC's and some of us go all out and send crayons, coloring books, cards etc ... this is totally up to you.

For 42 cents you can make a child smile.

* You can sign up for all 3 kids or just 1.
* Post to the thread and let me know what kids you want to send to and I will put your name on the list.
* Be sure you send out your items so they arrive by the last day of December!.

WHOEVER SIGNS UP TO SEND TO AT LEAST 1 OF THESE SPECIAL CHILDREN, YOUR NAME WILL BE PUT INTO A DRAWING THE END OF THE MONTH, AT WHICH 1 NAME WILL BE CHOSEN TO RECEIVE A SPECIAL SURPRISE.

MAJOR change in their medical status such as a relapse, upcoming major surgery, transplant, or sadly, hospice care; they would really benefit from some extra mail to cheer them up.

This months drawing is Chatty. I just wanted to thank everyone for helping out the MACS this month and I'm posting the new one for Jan right now. I've have been under the weather since the ring of the new year so I'm sorry I'm late on the update.

Hello to all,

First of all….. HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!!!!! HAPPY 2009!!!!!!!

Hoping that it will be a good year for us all, and that the new President will take us out of the hole…. we need it… especially non-profits which are closing down everywhere, after all, when people are on a tight budget, the last thing they’ll do is donate to charity, but THANK YOU to all those who made a donation to MACS in December, thank you immensely!!

Now on to MACS…..

The “Featured Kids of the Month” has changed its name. It is now, only “Featured Kids“. And we will not have 3 kids always featured on the 1st of the month anymore.

This is another change that we are implementing for 2009.

From now on, we will be adding new Featured Kids sporadically.

New applications for potential Featured Kids can sometimes take a long time to process (biographies need to be reviewed and edited, forms signed by parents, statement faxed from the child’s doctor, etc…).

So now we will add new kids to MACS, as new applications are completed and processed. This way, a child who, for example, has just relapsed or is very very sick, can be featured sooner, instead of having to wait until the 1st of the month. For some kids, time is extremely precious.

As an example… We may add a kid on January 7th, and then another one on the 18th, then another one on the 25th.

We may add only TWO kids in January, or maybe even ONE, but no more than 3 kids will be displayed as Featured Kids at a time.

And no kid will be a “Featured Kid” for LESS than 30 days, but it could happen that a child be featured longer than 30 days until the next one comes in.

And yes, we will notify everyone subscribed to the Newsletter, every time that a new child is added as a “Featured Kid”.

So right now, there are no official January 2009 Featured Kids, until we finish processing some applications from December.

We should be adding the first 2009 Kid soon!

I think I might send something to Julianne. She's into art and crafts and all sorts of cute, nifty stuff. I'll try and get onto it shortly. Pity she doesn't like POkemon, or I'd send her a whole bunch!

Poor wee Emerson. Her story is just heart-breaking. I'm just not sure what to send to a 2 year old. Maybe a picture book? I'll search through my collection. I should have something for her.
