Please remember to stick to the guidelines below for your partner. Any questions please feel free to ask in the thread or pm your partner. (I prefer the thread so others can use the answer when they work on that person's pages.)

Please remember to leave i-trader for your partner when you have received their page(s).

1. crftyscrapper - 8x8 - two page spread - on watercolor paper please. I would like inspirational quotes/poems with whatever scenery or picturing you think would go best with the text. Hand-drawn, handpainted, and mixed media are all welcomed! (prefer no collage) Please put your info on the front in an inconspicous place so when I assemble my book I will still know who did what!

2. Bright-Spark - I would like 8 x 8 two page spreads on the theme of the female body. -- It could be an interpretation of the classical shape of a female body, it could be a collage of a vintage nude, a celebration of the way women dress. It's about how wonderful women are.... Any media, hand drawn, hand painted or collage accepted.

3. Turquoise - I would like and 8x8 two page spread please in the theme of : Legends, Spookiness and Folklore. I suppose basically you can call it a Paranormal Journal? -- I am interested in Folklore, Urban Legends, Crypzoology (SP?), Haunted places, General spookiness. Examples include stuff like: Bigfoot, Salem, Erzebeth Bathory, Sawny Bean, Leprechans, Witch, Mother Shipton, The Bell Witch, Mothman, Bloody Mary, Vampires, Sweeny Todd, Werewolves etc. etc.. I am open to really anything within the theme, the only thing I don't want is made up stuff from the movies, like it has to have been a real legend or story passed down. --I am open to all kinds of media, and mediums. I like handrawn, collage, fabric, stamps...anything really, once it looks nice

4. Nicky - 8x8 - two page spread - Hand-drawn, handpainted is my preference (not too keen on collage). Theme: Witches and Wizards (would love to expand my collection on this since the last time the results were amazing!).

5. micromummy - 8x8 pages and the theme to be anything vintage with a romantic aspect. Colours, materials, dangly bits, ribbons, bows or anything collage I would love.

6. Norabear - I would like stars. Anything to do with stars. They are beautiful and fill me with hope and joy. Any media. Hrm, size. Looks like everyone is doing 8x8, so I'll do that size as well.

Awesome, I am glad this has started and I am so keen to get a start on Nicky's page, which hopefully I will do over the next two weeks. I never handpainted a Witch/Wizard before so it'll be a challenge for me...Will upload it when I am finished :)

Found it!

Hey, crftyscrapper, can you post/PM some of your favorite inspirational quotes so I can see what you like?

WARNING!!!! This is a very long post!

I amend my theme to be inspirational or thoughtful quotes or poems!

TWO roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

Robert Frost

Alfred Noyes (1880-1958)
The Highwayman

THE wind was a torrent of darkness among the gusty trees,
The moon was a ghostly galleon tossed upon cloudy seas,
The road was a ribbon of moonlight over the purple moor,
And the highwayman came riding—
The highwayman came riding, up to the old inn-door.

He'd a French cocked-hat on his forehead, a bunch of lace at his chin,
A coat of the claret velvet, and breeches of brown doe-skin;
They fitted with never a wrinkle: his boots were up to the thigh!
And he rode with a jewelled twinkle,
His pistol butts a-twinkle,
His rapier hilt a-twinkle, under the jewelled sky.

Over the cobbles he clattered and clashed in the dark inn-yard,
And he tapped with his whip on the shutters, but all was locked and barred;
He whistled a tune to the window, and who should be waiting there
But the landlord's black-eyed daughter,
Bess, the landlord's daughter,
Plaiting a dark red love-knot into her long black hair.

And dark in the dark old inn-yard a stable-wicket creaked
Where Tim the ostler listened; his face was white and peaked;
His eyes were hollows of madness, his hair like mouldy hay,
But he loved the landlord's daughter,
The landlord's red-lipped daughter,
Dumb as a dog he listened, and he heard the robber say—

"One kiss, my bonny sweetheart, I'm after a prize to-night,
But I shall be back with the yellow gold before the morning light;
Yet, if they press me sharply, and harry me through the day,
Then look for me by moonlight,
Watch for me by moonlight,
I'll come to thee by moonlight, though hell should bar the way."

He rose upright in the stirrups; he scarce could reach her hand,
But she loosened her hair i' the casement! His face burnt like a brand
As the black cascade of perfume came tumbling over his breast;
And he kissed its waves in the moonlight,
(Oh, sweet, black waves in the moonlight!)
Then he tugged at his rein in the moonliglt, and galloped away to the West.

He did not come in the dawning; he did not come at noon;
And out o' the tawny sunset, before the rise o' the moon,
When the road was a gypsy's ribbon, looping the purple moor,
A red-coat troop came marching—
King George's men came matching, up to the old inn-door.

They said no word to the landlord, they drank his ale instead,
But they gagged his daughter and bound her to the foot of her narrow bed;
Two of them knelt at her casement, with muskets at their side!
There was death at every window;
And hell at one dark window;
For Bess could see, through her casement, the road that he would ride.

They had tied her up to attention, with many a sniggering jest;
They had bound a musket beside her, with the barrel beneath her breast!
"Now, keep good watch!" and they kissed her.
She heard the dead man say—
Look for me by moonlight;
Watch for me by moonlight;
I'll come to thee by moonlight, though hell should bar the way!

She twisted her hands behind her; but all the knots held good!
She writhed her hands till her fingers were wet with sweat or blood!
They stretched and strained in the darkness, and the hours crawled by like years,
Till, now, on the stroke of midnight,
Cold, on the stroke of midnight,
The tip of one finger touched it! The trigger at least was hers!

The tip of one finger touched it; she strove no more for the rest!
Up, she stood up to attention, with the barrel beneath her breast,
She would not risk their hearing; she would not strive again;
For the road lay bare in the moonlight;
Blank and bare in the moonlight;
And the blood of her veins in the moonlight throbbed to her love's refrain .

Tlot-tlot; tlot-tlot! Had they heard it? The horse-hoofs ringing clear;
Tlot-tlot, tlot-tlot, in the distance? Were they deaf that they did not hear?
Down the ribbon of moonlight, over the brow of the hill,
The highwayman came riding,
Riding, riding!
The red-coats looked to their priming! She stood up, straight and still!

Tlot-tlot, in the frosty silence! Tlot-tlot, in the echoing night!
Nearer he came and nearer! Her face was like a light!
Her eyes grew wide for a moment; she drew one last deep breath,
Then her finger moved in the moonlight,
Her musket shattered the moonlight,
Shattered her breast in the moonlight and warned him—with her death.

He turned; he spurred to the West; he did not know who stood
Bowed, with her head o'er the musket, drenched with her own red blood!
Not till the dawn he heard it, his face grew grey to hear
How Bess, the landlord's daughter,
The landlord's black-eyed daughter,
Had watched for her love in the moonlight, and died in the darkness there.

Back, he spurred like a madman, shrieking a curse to the sky,
With the white road smoking behind him and his rapier brandished high!
Blood-red were his spurs i' the golden noon; wine-red was his velvet coat,
When they shot him down on the highway,
Down like a dog on the highway,
And he lay in his blood on the highway, with the bunch of lace at his throat.

* * * * * *

And still of a winter's night, they say, when the wind is in the trees,
When the moon is a ghostly galleon tossed upon cloudy seas,
When the road is a ribbon of moonlight over the purple moor,
A highwayman comes riding—
A highwayman comes riding, up to the old inn-door.

Over the cobbles he clatters and clangs in the dark inn-yard;
He taps with his whip on the shutters, but all is locked and barred;
He whistles a tune to the window, and who should be waiting there
But the landlord's black-eyed daughter,
Bess, the landlord's daughter,
Plaiting a dark red love-knot into her long black hair.

"The Lighthouse's Tale"

I am a lighthouse, worn by the weather and the waves.
I keep my lamp lit, to warn the sailors on their way.

I'll tell a story, paint you a picture from my past.
I was so happy, but joy in this life seldom lasts.

I had a keeper, he helped me warn the ships at sea.
We had grown closer, 'till his joy meant everything to me.

And he was to marry, a girl who shone with beauty and light.
And they loved each other, and with me watched the sunsets into night.

And the waves crashing around me, the sand slips out to sea.
And the winds that blow remind me, of what has been, and what can never be.

She'd had to leave us, my keeper he prayed for a safe return.
But when the night came, the weather to a raging storm had turned.

He watched her ship fight, but in vain against the wild and terrible wave.
In me so helpless, as dashed against the rock she met her end.

Then on the next day, my keeper found her washed up on the SHORE.
He kissed her cold face, that they'd be together soon he'd swore.

I saw him crying, watched as he buried her in the sand.
And then he climbed my tower, and off of the edge of me he ran.

I am a lighthouse, worn by the weather and the waves.
And though I am empty, I still warn the sailors on their way.

Beauty is not so much what you see as what you dream.
- Walloon Proverb

People often say that 'beauty is in the eye of the beholder,' and I say that the most liberating thing about beauty is realizing that you are the beholder. This empowers us to find beauty in places where others have not dared to look, including inside ourselves.
- Salma Hayek

People are like stained-glass windows. They sparkle and shine when the sun is out, but when the darkness sets in their true beauty is revealed only if there is a light from within.
- Elisabeth Kubler-Ross

A smile is a light in the window of the soul indicating that the heart is at home.
- Anonymous

It is the marriage of the soul with Nature that makes the intellect fruitful, and gives birth to imagination.
- Henry David Thoreau

The best remedy for those who are afraid, lonely or unhappy is to go outside, somewhere where they can be quiet, alone with the heavens, nature and God. Because only then does one feel that all is as it should be and that God wishes to see people happy, amidst the simple beauty of nature.
- Anne Frank

See how nature - trees, flowers, grass - grows in silence; see the stars, the moon and the sun, how they move in silence...we need silence to be able to touch souls.
- Mother Teresa

Hope is the thing with feathers that perches in the soul.
- Emily Dickenson

Music was my refuge. I could crawl into the space between the notes and curl my back to loneliness. ~Maya Angelou, Gather Together in My Name

Music is moonlight in the gloomy night of life. ~Jean Paul Richter

You can live for years next door to a big pine tree, honored to have so venerable a neighbor, even when it sheds needles all over your flowers or wakes you, dropping big cones onto your deck at still of night. ~Denise Levertov

It is difficult to realize how great a part of all that is cheerful and delightful in the recollections of our own life is associated with trees. ~Wilson Flagg

Alone with myself
The trees bend to caress me
The shade hugs my heart.
~Candy Polgar

It is not so much for its beauty that the forest makes a claim upon men's hearts, as for that subtle something, that quality of air that emanation from old trees, that so wonderfully changes and renews a weary spirit. ~Robert Louis Stevenson

Trees are the earth's endless effort to speak to the listening heaven. ~Rabindranath Tagore, Fireflies, 1928

We can learn a lot from trees: they're always grounded but never stop reaching heavenward. ~Everett Mámor

I think that I shall never see
A poem lovely as a tree.
A tree whose hungry mouth is prest
Against the earth's sweet flowing breast;
A tree that looks at God all day
And lifts her leafy arms to pray;
A tree that may in Summer wear
A nest of robins in her hair;
Upon whose bosom snow has lain;
Who intimately lives with rain.
Poems are made by fools like me,
But only God can make a tree.
~Joyce Kilmer, "Trees," 1914

Forget not that the earth delights to feel your bare feet and the winds long to play with your hair. ~Kahlil Gibran

I thank you God for this most amazing day, for the leaping greenly spirits of trees, and for the blue dream of sky and for everything which is natural, which is infinite, which is yes. ~e.e. cummings

The human spirit needs places where nature has not been rearranged by the hand of man. ~Author Unknown

There is a pleasure in the pathless woods,
There is a rapture on the lonely shore,
There is society, where none intrudes,
By the deep sea, and music in its roar:
I love not man the less, but Nature more.
~George Gordon, Lord Byron

To sit in the shade on a fine day and look upon verdure is the most perfect refreshment. ~Jane Austen

The sun is the epitome of benevolence - it is lifegiving and warmthgiving and happinessgiving, and to it we owe our thanksgiving. ~Jessi Lane Adams

As you sit on the hillside, or lie prone under the trees of the forest, or sprawl wet-legged by a mountain stream, the great door, that does not look like a door, opens. ~Stephen Graham, The Gentle Art of Tramping

The woods were made for the hunters of dreams,
The brooks for the fishers of song;
To the hunters who hunt for the gunless game
The streams and the woods belong.
~Sam Walter Foss

I am not a lover of lawns. Rather would I see daisies in their thousands, ground ivy, hawkweed, and even the hated plantain with tall stems, and dandelions with splendid flowers and fairy down, than the too-well-tended lawn. ~W.H. Hudson

You will find something more in woods than in books. Trees and stones will teach you that which you can never learn from masters. ~St. Bernard

To find the universal elements enough; to find the air and the water exhilarating; to be refreshed by a morning walk or an evening saunter; to be thrilled by the stars at night; to be elated over a bird's nest or a wildflower in spring - these are some of the rewards of the simple life. ~John Burroughs

Norabear - I hope I gave you enough to spark images in your mind. *LOL*

01-17-2009, 05:06 PM
Uh yeah.

This is my favorite poem. What do you think?

A Dream Within A Dream

Take this kiss upon the brow!
And, in parting from you now,
Thus much let me avow-
You are not wrong, who deem
That my days have been a dream;
Yet if hope has flown away
In a night, or in a day,
In a vision, or in none,
Is it therefore the less gone?
All that we see or seem
Is but a dream within a dream.

I stand amid the roar
Of a surf-tormented shore,
And I hold within my hand
Grains of the golden sand-
How few! yet how they creep
Through my fingers to the deep,
While I weep- while I weep!
O God! can I not grasp
Them with a tighter clasp?
O God! can I not save
One from the pitiless wave?
Is all that we see or seem
But a dream within a dream?

~ Edgar Allan Poe

01-17-2009, 05:10 PM
Oooooo.....I like that!

01-17-2009, 05:28 PM
Okay then! I'll use that. There will be some acrylic paint or watercolor, some collage, perhaps some beading and/or fibers - multi-media of various sorts.

01-17-2009, 05:40 PM
Sounds great!

01-18-2009, 01:35 AM
Thanks for posting those poems and quotes Craftyscrapper, I enjoyed reading those... I love that Highwayman poem..

01-18-2009, 09:29 AM
Since this is my first journal swap, would it be okay if I share my thought processes on the pieces I'm creating for feedback? Or should I restrict it to my critique group?

01-18-2009, 09:43 AM
By all means post them here and your critique group if it makes you feel more comfortable. When I was in college I always looked forward to critique day because I would always learn something to apply next time.

01-18-2009, 09:45 AM
Thank you Turquoise. I have been collecting stuff like that for years. This is a very small sampling. I tried to choose ones that bring images to mind.

01-18-2009, 10:18 AM
So while I was laying in bed this morning, I started planning crfty's pages.

I have some lovely Arches watercolor paper as a base. For the background, I will use acrylic washes of blues/greens/purples. I've never done washes before, so I'll practice some on cheaper watercolor paper first. I thought of doing watercolor, but I only have an inexpensive beginner's set of 8 in a pan. I think they are Crayola. Whereas, I have lots of acrylic colors.

For the text, I'm going to see if I can hand write it small enough on cardstock. One section of the poem will be on each page. Otherwise, I'll have to print it in a nice font. I thought of doing transparency so you see more of the background, but I've not found a way that I like of attaching them. The edges of the cardstock will be gold foiled. The text piece will be off-center to the right - one page bottom right, other page top right.

For decoration, first I'm going to cross-stitch a small shell for each page and frame it with a circle of cardstock. Then I'm thinking of cutting out a one or two inch strip of water/ocean from a magazine page and laying it diagonally off-center down the page under the text and cross-stitch.

Lastly, I'll splatter gold paint to dot the page with "golden sand."

01-18-2009, 10:28 AM
Sounds really well thought out Norabear. Can't wait to see it.

01-18-2009, 10:43 AM
I just had to share. I just bought an 8x8 scrapbook album with 10 top loading sheet protectors included off ebay. ($10 including shipping) So when I get my first pages they will have someplace safe to go!

01-18-2009, 11:17 AM
Cool. Do they have more? Maybe I should check it out.

01-19-2009, 10:01 AM
They have lots more on ebay search : 8x8 album - the one I got was faux brown leather with aqua piping. I know that seller had 9 more of the same style & color.

01-19-2009, 06:21 PM
Sorry I haven't popped in earlier, nor provided details to crftyscrapper. I am restricted for the moment because computer crashed.....

I will now PM my details, and ask if there is anything urgent please PM me until I let you know everything is back up and running!

Looking forward to getting going with this - thanks crftyscrapper for organising!

01-20-2009, 04:13 AM
My goodness - a girl can't leave her computer untouched for a few days without missing all this!!! Arggh - lol. But I can't wait to start on the pages - hope to have some time over the weekend.
Thanks for the marvellous poems etc. Will read them carefully but might use a different one all together - who knows?
Unfortunately I am not in a position to scan my pages (the stupid machine at works only processes b/w :( ).
Perhaps you ladies would be so kind to scan them when you receive so the others can see them as well???

01-25-2009, 05:54 PM
wow - went shopping last saturday to find some 'vintage' and 'romantic' materials... think I've succeeded rather well and the pages are done ;)... my first collage job - normally I stick to handdrawn because I feel safe with that but I must say that glue and papercuttings and embroidery etc. can be fun too.
As soon as I have some free time (count on Friday) I'll start hunting for a proper envie to get the stuff safe across the big pond.
Oh and of course I need to wait for the correct addresses... grr, sometimes I can be so impatient - does it show... LOL
Happy crafting all!

01-25-2009, 06:50 PM
I am going to PM the addressess tomorrow. I work tonight so I have to go get ready to go now.

01-26-2009, 03:44 AM
No rush with the addresses dear... The spread is standing on my piano and I'm still trying to figure out if I should add something (and if yes, then what)... the usual dilemma - am I really done LOL

01-27-2009, 07:54 AM
Hi Nicky, It sounds like you've done my pages for me. This is sooo exciting and I can't wait to see them.
Kate x

01-27-2009, 08:06 AM
I'm still thinking about adding some small items... but they're pretty much finished indeed.
I'll find a safe way to get them to you soon.

02-06-2009, 12:48 PM
Oh dear - have we moved elsewhere? It's very quiet out here. I just hope that everyone is busy doing art... my pages for micromummy are travelling right now and I sure hope they get to their new home safe. Any news on the addresslist?

02-06-2009, 12:54 PM
I have been busy trying to catch up on some swaps, BUT I did my research and I know exactly what I am going to do for Bright-Sparks pages.

I just realized that when I sent the addies out last week that I only put one name in the recipients box. I thought I put everyone's....it is all fixed now. Check your inboxes.

02-06-2009, 02:33 PM
I got the list, thanks crftyscrapper.

I also have some ideas for Turquoise's pages, but I haven't started yet.....

02-06-2009, 03:21 PM
Got the list too - thanx crftyscrapper.... need to start doing some research on the "star" topic... I find that one extremely difficult, especially since 2 page suddenly seem to have soooooo much space on them ;)

02-06-2009, 04:17 PM
I received my pages from Nicky today and they're gorgeous. Thank you so much Nicky xxx

I posted my pages off to Norabear today, hope they arrive safely and you like them
Kate x

02-06-2009, 05:13 PM
Please....:wubclub: Post pics of the pages Nicky sent you? pretty please?

02-06-2009, 05:18 PM
Please don't forget ladies to leave i-traders when you receive pages.

02-06-2009, 05:56 PM
Great to hear that they made it so fast and in one piece (I hope)... would you have a chance to scan them? I don't have a scanner at home and the one at work is only suitable for b/w text?

02-07-2009, 06:30 AM
I have just finished the background of my pages for my partner and hopefully they should be finished and sent by next week!

02-07-2009, 07:59 AM
Oh my goodness - I'm getting curious already!

ps. love your little dragon Turquoise

02-07-2009, 10:38 AM
I'll be starting work on the pages this weekend!

02-08-2009, 10:27 AM
Kate tried to scan the vintage pages but the scans aren't very good (unfortunately). Especially the right one is very dark and doesn't do justice to the real colors and ofcourse the originals aren't such a blur . Oh well, here they are so you get a bit of an idea what they look like anyway. If you click on the picture they get a bit larger and you'll get a better idea.

02-09-2009, 04:45 AM
They look absolutely wonderful Nicky!

02-09-2009, 07:46 AM
thanks Turquoise - too bad the scans aren't very good but at least you'll get an idea.
Scanning pages with bulky content is always a horrible job and I'm so glad that micromummy dared to make an effort

02-09-2009, 12:37 PM
Sorry ladies, I couldn't get the pages from Nicky to scan any better. They are truly lovely and the scans don't do them justice.
Kate x

02-13-2009, 07:02 AM
Crftyscrapper, I know it's very early but I've finished your pages for March and will mail them over the weekend. I've been snowed in here for a few days and was so bored I got on with some art work. I'd rather you had them early as I've got 3 cats and a rather naughty puppy that thinks everything has been put there for her to chew. WHAT WAS I THINKING OF? She's soo cute though.
Hope they're ok for you. I'm not very good at hand drawn but I've tried my hardest.
Kate x

02-13-2009, 10:03 AM
Wow - that's one fast lady!! Will you show them to us, Kate??

02-14-2009, 06:00 PM
Pages for crftyscrapper in process...

02-15-2009, 05:38 AM
Hi Nicky, I'm afraid I don't know how to get my work on to the site so perhaps Crftyscrapper can put them on for you when they arrive with her. I'm not sure how well they'll scan though.
kate x

02-15-2009, 06:59 PM
I posted my WIP pages in my critique group. I'm pretty proud of my hand drawn shells. They are some of the first hand drawn work I've traded (drew a cat once) and the first time I've used water color pencils.

I'm sure that the player you have done your pages for will show them to us, especially if you cannot upload them. Just drop a short message?

Hi craftyscrapper, I'm sorry I don't know how to scan things an to the site so I wondered if you can put the pages I've done for you on please? I'm not sure how they'll scan though.
Kate x

02-16-2009, 12:22 PM
Sure, no problem. If they wont scan I'll take a picture instead! (love that macro feature)

02-16-2009, 09:21 PM
Having problemos with my scanner at the mo' but hopefully I will be able to scan the pages for Nicky tomorrow...
I painted a Celtic Witch and her tools on the pages...I was thinking of adding a few words to the pages, but am not sure yet...however they will definately be going out before the 20th anyway...I hope you will like the pages Nicky, its my first time ever doing something like this...:)

02-18-2009, 11:37 PM
Ok I had major problems painting the witches face, so I had to redo it over and over again...now its drying, so it should be ready to go, once it is dry....I hope Nicky will like it :)

02-19-2009, 03:50 AM
I'm so anxious to see what they look like, Turquoise. I'm sure they are great and will be a marvellous contribution to my collection witches and wizards pages!

02-20-2009, 10:22 AM
I got my pages from micromummy!

Now I just have to figure out how to put them together when I have them all. What is everyone doing with their pages? I may have to get a Crop-a-dile.

02-20-2009, 10:53 AM
I've got an album for them... it has sheets and I can slide the pages in easily... they keep nice, clean and tidy and it looks great to have all these pages in one them (I already have 4 or 5 journal page spreads on Witches and Wizards from an earlier circle journal and a personal trade).... getting quite a collection!

02-20-2009, 11:43 AM
Do the pages have fibers attached? Do they still fit the album?

02-20-2009, 02:07 PM
I have not disappeared, promise!! Just horrible work stuff and then I managed to get away for two days unexpectedly.

I did not get Turquoise's pages in the mail today, sorry :embarrassed:

But, I will this weekend, and post pics to the thread!

02-20-2009, 03:03 PM
That depends on the album (size) - all my pages are flats so far so I don't know

02-20-2009, 04:26 PM
FYI, my pages went out in the mail today and they are in my gallery.

02-20-2009, 06:10 PM
They look great Norabear!!!! Lovely piece of work!

02-20-2009, 09:59 PM
I didn't get a chance to scan my pages I am sorry but will scan the next bunch thou...I got the pages in the mail to Nicky, hopefully they won't get ruined in the mail and that she will like them :)

02-21-2009, 09:53 AM
wow - can't wait to see them... unfortunately I cannot scan myself otherwise I would have loved to do it for you. Maybe when the situation improves here, I'll be able to buy my own scanner again.

02-24-2009, 06:44 PM
Turqouise pages arrived today - must have something to do with the witchcraft... if you look at the date she send them it's almost unbelievable that they are here already.
They look just great!!! Thanks soo much and it's such a shame that I cannot scan them to show them to all of you... One page holds a celtic witch and the other page pictures the witches attributes... a very original thought!

02-24-2009, 10:26 PM
Yes, they certainly arrived very quickly...the deities are definitely on your side! lol
I am happy you liked everything!!!
Now onto making Micromummys pages!!!! :)

02-26-2009, 09:24 AM
Finally, finally finished Turquoise's pages....

I hope this is what you were after. They are based on the story of the North Berwick witches of 1590 when the devil (Auld Clootie) was supposed to have preached from the Kirk of North Berwick to raise hurricanes off the coast to drown Priness Anne of Denmark who was to be the wife of King James VI.

I promise to get Nicky's pages off to her in time :embarrassed:

02-26-2009, 10:12 AM
Oh my goodness - great pages "Spark"!!

02-26-2009, 01:57 PM
OMG, these are absolutely beautiful Spark...you have a lot of talent!
I don't really know this story, but seeing these pages make me want to read up on it...

I cannot wait to get them now! Thank you so much!

02-26-2009, 05:24 PM
This is my WIP for Bright-Spark!

I know I am late, been working A LOT of extra hours at the hospital lately. Anyways, I want to add some hand lettered wording and then cut them apart and post away. Just wanted to let you know that I AM working on them!!!! :D

(BTW - You can thank Original Youth for my turquoise kick lately!!!! :P )

02-26-2009, 05:29 PM
WOW, that is absolutely beautiful!

02-27-2009, 10:28 PM
Absolutely stunning Bright-spark!!!!

03-02-2009, 09:30 AM
I got my beautiful pages from Bright-Spark in the mail this morning, thank you so much, I love them!!!!

03-02-2009, 09:39 AM
Yippeeee, I am glad they made it safe and sound!

I'll try to be on time in future boss.....:wubclub:

03-02-2009, 12:54 PM
Boss can't say anything, she is late too!!!! ;)

03-13-2009, 08:21 AM
crftyscrapper, did you ever get my pages? I sent them on 2/20. I'm really worried.

03-16-2009, 08:22 AM
Hi Bright Spark,
I'm about to start your pages. Would you like 'dangly' bits like ribbons, beads etc added to them?
Kate x

03-16-2009, 10:02 AM
Hi Kate, thanks for asking.

I haven't made up my mind on how I am going to present the pages, but I think they will probably go into an album, so no dangly bits.

Maybe we should check everyone's preferences and include on first post? Micromummy you were the only one who did specify 'dangly bits'. I didn't think to add any to Turquoise's pages, but if Nicky wants them then I can add them!

03-16-2009, 11:23 AM
I like dangly bits. I'm probably going to punch and ring mine.

03-17-2009, 06:33 AM
Oh no... no danglings for me... my pages go into a slide-in album with all other "witches and wizards" so I prefer them flat!

I'll be starting on the Stars for Norabear... so far the most difficult of the 5 ... hope to come up with some ideas over the weekend so they'll be ready for the mail any time soon! (Oh my goodness - the 20th is at the end of this week already... time is running out)

03-17-2009, 09:12 AM
Wow, I thought I would be the easiest! :)

03-17-2009, 09:25 AM
Not by far girl - all of a sudden 2 times 8x8 is a lot of "space" ;).... but I'm slowly getting there Nora, don't worry

03-17-2009, 09:33 AM
Well, you could put other stuff in there... horses, blue butterflies, polar bears... AND stars.

03-17-2009, 10:45 AM
I've put other stuff inthere... hehe... look at the pictures below and see what you think? Ít's supposed to be one large picture but the scans will not touch so you'll have to do that yourself once the originals get to you. They'll go in the mail at the end of the week (need to find a solid way to send them)

03-17-2009, 11:22 AM

03-19-2009, 06:38 PM
I am sorry Micromummy but I won't be able to send my pages to you until Monday, I have not been well lately and I haven't been able to finish them off. I am going to try and get them finished this weekend and get them mailed on Monday. I am so sorry for this delay, hopefully you are not too angry with me?

03-19-2009, 07:02 PM
Bright Spark, thanks for letting me know about not wanting 'dangly' bits. I've now finished your first page.
kate x

03-20-2009, 12:51 PM
Okay - my space spread actually went in the mail today. I hope they have a fast and safe journey!

03-21-2009, 02:13 AM
Ok I felt a little better today, and was able to make Micromommy's page. Will be sending it to you tomorrow, so I guess I won't be "too" late after all! :)

http://www.atcsforall.com/forum/gallery/images/2834/1_Vintage_Love_Pages_I_created_for_Mystical_Mama_s _group.jpg

I hope you will like it :)

03-21-2009, 09:43 AM
I'm late. I'm sooooooo late. I'm hoping to get them completed for Bright-Spark in the next couple of days. I have no excuse.

A thousand lashes with a wet noodle!

03-22-2009, 01:11 AM
ok the pages were sent this morning (Sat) to you Micromummy, so you should get it within the next few days.

03-24-2009, 10:47 AM
Turquoise, my pages look fantastic, thank you. Can't wait for Mr Posty to come.
Kate x

03-27-2009, 03:01 PM
Okay, I'm finally done with Bright-Spark's pages. Sorry they are late! Once they finish drying, I'll scan then pack them up. I hope to get them mailed tomorrow, but if not, definitely Monday.

03-27-2009, 03:06 PM
Turquoise, what do you think about Baba Yaga?

03-27-2009, 03:54 PM
Baba Yaga sounds awesome, I heard about her before...She looks similar to the Bean Sidhe in Ireland. Except the Bean Sidhe just warns certain families of impending death by wailing loudly.

I would be happy with Baba Yaga pages, if you are interested in making them? :)

03-27-2009, 06:24 PM
Turq, I'll see what I can come up with. There is a lot of symbols and images associated with her, so it should give me enough to work on.

03-29-2009, 10:36 AM
Turquoise, thank you for my lovely pages.

kate x

03-29-2009, 10:37 AM
BrightSpark, your pages are done and I'm going to post them tomorrow. Hope you like them.
Kate x

03-29-2009, 11:29 AM
BrightSpark, guess what?

The post office closes at 11am on Saturday and not noon. So your pages will go out tomorrow! Could you do me a favor? I forgot to scan them and don't feel like ruining the envelope to get to them. Could you scan the pages and email them to me, pretty please?

03-30-2009, 07:04 AM
I am happy they arrived safely and I am glad that you liked them!

03-30-2009, 07:05 AM
Norabear, I am going to get a start on your pages this week. Can you PM me your address, since I was clearing out my inbox and very stupidly deleted all of your addresses. :(

04-03-2009, 08:08 AM
My wonderful pages arrived from Micromummy, so much to look at!!

Now the confession, my pages only went to Nicky this morning. :embarrassed: yet again!
I hope they get there quickly.

Just to show they are done:

04-03-2009, 08:09 AM
PS Micromummy, just to check, you would prefer collage rather than hand drawn/painted?

04-03-2009, 06:15 PM
Hi Bright-sparke they look just great, I can't wait to see them for real. Will let you know as soon as they arrive!

04-06-2009, 11:34 PM
ive never heard of a circle journal , how does it work and how do i find one to join?

04-07-2009, 06:23 AM
Hi Bright Sparke - your pages made it and they look just GREAT!! Thanks - off to leave iTrader Rating

04-07-2009, 03:46 PM
Thanks for letting me know they got there, and that you like them!

04-07-2009, 04:26 PM
Hi BrightSpark, I really don't mind what you do for me. I know it'll be good so do what you feel comfortable with. Thank you for asking.
Kate x

04-07-2009, 04:40 PM
I think you are going to get a bit of both! ;)

04-14-2009, 02:25 PM
Hi Turquoise, your pages for May are on their way to you. I know it's early but I was bored so got down to do some crafting. Hope you like them.
Kate x

04-15-2009, 12:33 PM
Wonderful pages received form Norabear, just beautiful, and, introduced me to a wonderful poem from Maya Angelou!!

04-15-2009, 04:55 PM
Hey, Bright, would you be able to scan them? I forgot to before I packaged them up.

04-16-2009, 05:38 AM
Here you go!

Let me know by PM if you want me to email these to you so you can upload to your gallery.

04-18-2009, 02:09 PM
I know this is going to come as a real shock, but Micromummy's pages are done. They will be in the mail on Monday (once I have added the dangly bits!).

For me, romance always includes roses....

04-19-2009, 10:27 AM
Turquoise, sorry but I haven't even had a chance to start yours and won't until after the 24th. I promise to work on them that weekend though!

04-19-2009, 03:53 PM
BrightSpark, my pages look gorgeous, thank you. Can't wait for them to arrive.
Kate x

04-20-2009, 11:03 AM
Well, they did go today!

I hope they arrive safely. I am a bit worried about the rose on one of them.

Fraid there wasn't so many dangly bits as I hoped. I couldnt find any suitable colours in my fibre stash....

04-21-2009, 03:05 AM
Hi crftyscrapper... Yesterday I should have mailed out your pages but due to the heavy workload here and the upcoming festival with the Band this weekend I didn't have time. I'll most certainly start on them this weekend so they will (hopefully) only be a little bit late!

04-21-2009, 09:38 AM
Can you all please post as to who has whose journals right now?

04-21-2009, 09:46 AM
Hi rkolig, we are mailing pages rather than posting journals around.

I have received pages from Norabear (mailing 2) and micromummy (mailing 3), but not crftyscrapper (mailing 1). I have PM'd crftyscrapper to check whether they were posted or just delayed. I appreciate she has not been well.

I am (finally) up to date with my pages. The next is due to go out on 20 May to Norabear.

I hope everything is okay?

04-21-2009, 09:47 AM
Oh ok. Thanks!!! Then if you can just let me know who has sent what, I can update the first post.

We're contacting Scrftyscraper. I hope she's ok. Will let you know as soon as we find out anything. For now, I just need to know where things are here so we can figure things out.

04-21-2009, 09:53 AM
Okay, thanks for helping out!

04-21-2009, 09:57 AM
I've sent to crftyscrapper and Bright-Spark. I'm behind with Turquoise's pages but will work on them this coming weekend.

I've received from micromummy and Nicky.

04-21-2009, 10:36 AM
Hi all, my life has been crazy along with my daughter having surgery unexpectedly. I "think" my life is about back to normal. (No longer sick, no more 13 hour extra shifts at work, etc.) So I am hoping to catch up with everything now.

04-21-2009, 12:07 PM
I've received from the first two mailings and sent out for the first two as well - I've had confirmation from both that my pages were received as well.

04-21-2009, 02:00 PM
Great to hear you are back crftyscrapper! Life just gets in the way sometimes....

Hope you and your daughter are fully recovered.

04-22-2009, 03:43 AM
Good to hear that things are getting back to normal on your end, crftyscrapper. Will start on your April pages as soon as life gets a bit more relaxed here - I expect to have some time this Sunday (the big festival we have to play is next Saturday so after that things should slow down).

04-22-2009, 01:39 PM
Bright-Spark, my pages arrived today and they are goooooorgeous. I love them, thank you.
My book is looking fantastic as I'm now in my third circle journal and have put all my pages together. It's lovely to look back at all the fantastic work that you ladies have done for me.
Kate x

04-22-2009, 04:03 PM
Glad to hear they got there safely, and that you like them!

04-23-2009, 10:53 AM
Hi All,

I am so sorry I have not been around. Everything has been topsy turvy lately.
Anyway, I recieved a wonderful set of pages from Micromummy, thank you.

My pages are going out to Norabear in the morning, thanks so much. I am sorry its a little late. Hope you all understand.

04-23-2009, 11:17 AM
CrftyScrapper and Bright-Spark can you PM me your addresses please? Thanks :)

04-23-2009, 07:37 PM
Turquoise, no worries. I haven't even gotten yours started yet!

05-11-2009, 07:59 PM
Hi guys, I just wanted to update you. Crafter is working towards getting caught up. For now you all should go on with your pages without her. Once she gets caught up and starts posting to the thread she can give you an idea of when she might be completing her pages for you. But for now, go on without her.

If you guys need the first post updated or need anything else, you can PM me and I'll take care of it.

05-12-2009, 03:57 AM
Thanks again rkolig for looking after us....:D

I am already thinking of my pages for norabear, mainly becuase I am away from the 19th, so want to get them done this weekend and in the mail to her on Monday. However, I am still looking for some inspiration!

05-12-2009, 12:39 PM
I'm behind on my pages for Turquoise, but I have worked on them.

It will be this weekend at least though before I can get back to them as I have tonsillitis.

05-13-2009, 11:18 AM
I know it's very early but I've mailed your pages.
The reason being for my early finish is because: I get a new puppy next week, I start a new job in June and sometime soon I've to go into hospital. So I thought I'd try to get all my art work done now, so that's one worry out of the way.
Kate x

05-13-2009, 01:20 PM
New puppy?? I hope you are going to show pics micromummy!

05-16-2009, 01:38 PM
Wow - new puppy!!! That sounds exciting... your spread made it today and your troll is just awesome! That witch is a nasty thing - hope I never run into her! Thanks also for all the wonderful details on the back.
I just wish that my hands would allow me to work faster - I've started on the female body pages but they're coming slow. They will be a bit late but with a long weekend coming up (thursday till sunday) I'm sure they'll be finished and mailed out before the end of the month

05-18-2009, 10:59 AM
My pages for Norabear will be in the mail today.

Sorry I couldn't get a better pic!

05-18-2009, 04:34 PM
Wonderful! :)

05-23-2009, 06:24 PM
Bright Sparke - your female body pages are done and will go in the mail first thing tomorrow.

05-23-2009, 06:30 PM
Nicky, I haven't forgotten you, but my pages will be late. I'm just finishing up last month's set and then I get to "try to draw" yours!

05-24-2009, 07:59 AM
No problem Norabear - I'll see them when they get here. I'm on holiday from June 30 till Juli 20 so there's still plenty of time and if they don't make it before that time, I'll find them in my mailbox afterwards. Something to look forward too.

05-28-2009, 07:14 AM
Wonderful pages arrived from Nicky this morning, many thanks!!

05-31-2009, 09:05 AM
Finally got Turquoise's pages done. Will mail off on Monday.

06-12-2009, 10:09 AM
I got BrightSpark's pages. Thanks!

06-16-2009, 05:23 PM
Hope to have time to finish Turqoise's page before we leave for our 'exciting' holiday trip to Bali (Indonesia) on June 30.
We'll be back on July 22 so if journal pages are sent during this period - don't worry if you don't here from me. Mail will be held and we will not receive it until July 25th!

06-28-2009, 06:36 AM
I'm still working on Turqoise's pages but I'm afraid they will not be finished before we leave for our holidays... Sorry dear, but I'd rather send them late than do a rush job on them that will satisfy neither of us.
Expect them in the first week of August since we'll be gone for the largest part of July!

07-04-2009, 09:15 AM
I'm owed some pages, but I'm not going to complain because I still owe pages. I'll get to work on them.

Nicky, I'm not much of a drawer, so I'm hoping a wizard hat and witch's hat will work for you?

micromummy, I'll work on yours right after I finish Nicky's.

07-21-2009, 05:05 AM
Oh Nora - anything that fits within the theme is fine with me, dear!

07-22-2009, 11:24 AM
If you guys lemme know who got what, I'll update this list in the first post.
I'm lazy, and don't wanna go through all your posts. Me bad, I know....

Crftyscrapper - Norabear
Bright-Spark - Norabear, Micromummy
Turquoise - Micromummy
Nicky - Turquioise, Bright-Spark
Micromummy - Nicky, Bright-Spark
Norabear - Micromummy, Nicky

07-22-2009, 02:17 PM
Bright Sparke confirmed the receipt of my pages as well (thread #143)
I only have to finish Turquiose's pages - hope to do that over the weekend and send them out.
Any word from Crftyscrapper? Not sure if I should do her pages?
I've received from Turquioise, Bright-Spark and Micromummy

07-22-2009, 02:18 PM
Don't send her anything till she contacts you guys. Might as well hold off making anything for now.

I do know she's trying to catch up on things, but not sure where she's at just yet.

07-22-2009, 05:05 PM
I am still waiting for pages from Turquoise and Crftyscrapper.

I have done everyone's pages, and they have confirmed receipt, except Crftyscrapper. We PM'd each other and agreed to swap when she was caught up.

07-22-2009, 05:24 PM
I mailed to Turquoise but don't know if she received.

I have not received pages from Turquoise or crftyscrapper, nor have I heard from them.

I owe Nicky and micromummy. I'm starting Nicky's tomorrow. I've tried to stay in touch here so they know I haven't vaped on them. To be honest, I've had "artist's block" with Nicky's pages because I'm so uncertain of my drawing skills. But I just did my first hand-drawn PAT, it went well, and feel a bit more like I can handle something bigger.

07-23-2009, 07:01 AM
OK, so this is what I see so far. It looks like other than Crfty's pages, you guys are getting pretty close to finishing up.

Does this look right then?

Crftyscrapper - Norabear
Bright-Spark - Norabear, Nicky, Micromummy
Turquoise - Micromummy, Bright-Spark, NoraBear
Nicky - Turquioise, Bright-Spark, Micromummy
Micromummy - Nicky, Bright-Spark
Norabear - Micromummy, Nicky, Bright-Spark

07-31-2009, 04:31 PM
I'm almost done drawing the first of the two pages. Nicky, tell me what you think of what I've done so far. Is this okay?

Wizard's Room (http://www.atcsforall.com/forum/showthread.php?p=496092#post496092)

08-13-2009, 02:20 PM
Yeah - back from holidays and wow Norabear... it looks just great so far. Can't wait to see the final result.
I still owe Turquoise pages and I'm trying to finish them this month.. Is she still active around here? I've send messages to her telling her that the pages will be late but I never received a reply - nor have I seen her on the thread ...

08-25-2009, 06:18 PM

Here's the latest on the wizard page. It's coming along slowly. I didn't like just the watercolor so I splurged and got the 132 Prismacolor colored pencils and have started coloring in with them and I'm liking it a lot more. I got the wizard's hat and the first, second and fourth shelves of items completed. I can only spend about a hour a day at my table and I think it will take 4 to 6 hours more to finish. Then I'll start on the witch's hat. That one should be easier as I'm going to have the hat at the base of some trees. A lot less complicated!

08-26-2009, 01:58 AM
That's a great page Norabear, a lot of work!

08-26-2009, 09:27 AM
Wow girl - that page looks just great! I'm still struggling over Turqoise's pages... the first one is finished and I'm going to start on no. 2 this weekend but since we'll be gone saturday and sunday I have little hope to finish them this month. Oh well, as long as there's progresss uh?

08-26-2009, 04:47 PM
We won't talk about me having to sharpen all 132 pencils. Yikes! I did about 90 of them by hand before I broke so many points I went to the Prismacolor site and they recommended an electric sharpener. NOW they tell me!

08-27-2009, 02:16 AM
Haha - that sound familiar dear. I've got a box like that and they break easily.
They're a bit soft but the colors are just great and I love working with them. Use them for almost all my drawings.

08-27-2009, 02:59 AM

Only for a few seconds, but it works wonders. I haven't had broken prismacolours since.

BUT, do not overdo it! Otherwise you will have charcoal and a very burnt microwave. How do I know this? YUP, I've done it! :(

08-27-2009, 04:51 AM
Microwave ? Ah - I've got a few old ones on the table... will try it tomorrow.
And no - after one round in the microwave, they wouldn't dare to break again... probably afraid of another microwave trip uh? :twitcy:
