Each person will be responsible for choosing a theme and starting their book in some way. If you have altered books from before that are not finished, you might consider sending that around. Hi all, my life has been crazy along with my daughter having surgery unexpectedly. I "think" my life is about back to normal. (No longer sick, no more 13 hour extra shifts at work, etc.) So I am hoping to catch up with everything now.

The only book I have received from Lildebi is her own book that she mailed to me at the very end of February. She posted on MAW at the end of March that she was ready to send on Crftyscrapper's book as soon as I was ready, and I told her to send it on, but I never received it. I have only gotten to work on one book so far!

Hello everyone. Sorry I have been MIA. I am in SC. My grandfather was extremely ill and we were not sure if he would recover. Thank the Lord his condition greatly improved and he went home a couple weeks ago. My mother had returned to MI to see him and I recently drove her home to SC. Currently my grandfather is undergoing chemotherapy and is having a bit of a rough time with the side effects. He was hospitalized last night for an infection, and needs to have a blood transfusion. His white cell count is very low for a few weeks after each treatment and we all have to be very careful not to carry germs into his environment.

I am working on Crftyscrappers book as I write this. I will be online more frequently while I am here in SC, but please feel free to call me if you need to get in touch with me more quickly. My cell number is 269-209-1332.

I mailed Craftyscrapper's book today. I mailed it media mail for around 2.75, but if I had mailed it parcel post it would have been around 7.75 and priority was 7.82???:swoon: She said the rates had gone way up, but that just seemed crazy. The flat rate priority envelope would be cheaper.

I sent Craftyscrpper's book to Egg Studio almost 2 weeks ago, so I hope she got it by now.

I talked to Craftyscrpper at AFA last week and she had given Dana Surrealism's and Dana's books. I didn't get a chance to ask Dana about it, but we were hoping that Purple might get to work in Surrealism's book whle she was visiting Dana since it had feathers in it and usually such things can't be sent to Australia.

The two books I saw were absolutely gorgeous and I can't wait to work on them myself!

Id say not to write anything on the package to me about the feathers, coz theyd open it to look. Just write its an 'art book' and thats it. If they were real feathers the dogs would detect them, so if theyre not then they wont and it will all be good. :D

Personally, I don't think I would want to send anything to Australia that might be the least bit suspicious and risk having it confiscated.

Well the doggies are trained to smell animals (birds, lizards etc) as they are often sent into Aus via mail. So if they picked up a scent of a bird.......

But being craft shop feathers they would have to have been treated for commercial sale, so they will be fine. Ive had them sent to me before.

If they were feathers off of the ground, I would say NO dont send them to me.

But its up to you Surrealsm. Im not entirely sure what they would do if they were real ground found feathers.

LOL, that's what media mail is for! As long as I don't include a note in it, they say its ok :P

Make sure you don't send me a note! One thing I have noticed lately is that media mail is a lot slower than it was for a while. I think they are trying to discourage its use.

Yes, they are. Parcel post is no longer any cheaper either. They are trying to eliminate anything but priority mail :(. But those books were nearly $17 to ship priority, so they went $4 media mail :)

They arrived TODAY!! It is overwhelming to receive three wonderful books at the same time. I glued the pages together so I can work on them when I get the chance. The pages stuck together a little bit, so I am going to make sure and put more wax paper between the pages when I mail them. Temperatures over 100 are not kind to my mail.:(

Are the pages ok? I had wax in them, so I had hoped not to have that happen. I forget how hot it gets down there though. It hasn't gone above 80 degrees for like two weeks here. Absolutely beautiful!

Your page isn't that bad. It stuck along the center a little bit, but it didn't rip. The paint that came up could be touched up easily enough. I would do it myself, but i think it would be better to wait until it gets to Purple. The wax paper you put in it protected the outer parts of the page, so they are ok.

Who knows how hot it gets sitting in trucks along the way? I had some problems last summer when I was hosting a swap with things melting, too. I am so jealous of your weather!

Things tend to melt when they come over to me in our Summer. (Jan to March) So I know exactually how you feel Electa. I remember joining a encaustic swap and then thought about it and realised that my cards wouldnt even make it out of my city in one piece! LOL

I also wanted to say that I tried to very carefully open the pages! I think the problem is easily repairable.

I forgot to mention yesterday that there was a label on the package that said it had been opened for inspection!! It really didn't feel like it had books in it so I am sure that is what flagged it. Good thing they didn't decide our altered books were works of art and not books!:rolleyes:

Eggs, I mailed Dana's book first class yesterday, so it should be there by Saturday or Monday. In this case the book was so small that it only cost 30 cents or so more for first class than it did for media mail, so it was worth it.
