View Full Version : 2nd Ever Inchie a Thon!

04-22-2009, 09:39 AM
It's our second ever INCHIE a Thon!!!
This is open to everyone!
We will be making inchies and rinchies all weekend long :jiggy:

Start time (in your time zone - when your clock says 5:00 pm Start) April 24, 2009 - 5:00 pm

End time (in your time zone) April 26, 2009 - 11:59 pm

__________________________________________________ ___________________

so post your inches and rinches to this thread - here is how to post from the photo hosting site http://www.atcsforall.com/forum/showthread.php?t=2115
www.photobucket.com is another photo hosting site that is easy to use. you may also use your gallery or upload from your computer.

to post a pic from your gallery

go to your pic in your gallery - left click on the pic to bring up the menu - click on properities - this brings up the info on your pic - copy the address - go to your post and hit the "insert image" button (looks like a postcard) paste the address into the window that pops up and and hit ok - that puts the code into your post for your pic to show up

To make a picture loaded from the gallery smaller, you can change the last piece of the coded address. Notice the end of the code "w=l" (for large); you can change this after you paste it into your message to w=m (for medium) or w=s (for small).

(leaving the last bracket off the above so you can see how the address will look)

this pic is just a sample

To post a picture from your computer - one that is NOT uploaded to your gallery:

1. click POST REPLY at the bottom of the messages screen. Above the message box, click the paperclip next to the smiley face. Then upload as usual. This will upload your pic as a thumbnail.

2. If you go into the Quick Reply box at the bottom of the messages screen, click GO ADVANCED and you will get the paperclip above the message box.

trading will go on thru out the weekend - please pm the artist you would like to trade with rather than posting to the thread to insure they see your request - also please remember this is not first come first serve

And have fun - these "a thons" are fast and furious - but they are soooo much fun!!!

This is our second inch a thon so here's the link to our first one so you can see how it ran.

04-22-2009, 11:12 AM
Yay! I should be able to play a bit this weekend.

04-22-2009, 11:47 AM
This is going to be fun!!

04-22-2009, 01:44 PM
I can't wait!
I asked a couple questions in the other (the poll for this a-thon) thread. But will re-ask the one question here.

I noticed in the first inch-a-thon a lot of people made a bunch of inches that were the same (example: 5 of the same dog but with different color backgrounds.). So do a lot of people trade just one for one? The reason I'm asking is because I hope to trade more than one (maybe 5) to each I trade with but I want the 5 I get back to be all different.

04-22-2009, 06:36 PM
I think last time I did do one trade for just two inchies, but all the other trades I did were for more than that. And for all of the trades the people I traded with requested certain inchies, so some people got 4 stars cause they wanted 4 stars, but other people wanted all different so they got all different.

04-22-2009, 06:49 PM
Yay! Looking forward to playing- although some of the ones I make might be for swaps as I owe around 50 still LOLOL

04-24-2009, 03:00 PM
Woot! I've been looking forward to this thon! And refering back to the first inchie-a-thon.. I'll be watching you Katie, seen some pretty awesome inchies coming from you. Yeah, I concur with NiteOwl in hoping to trade more then just one and having them being an assortment of different inchies. Now to go look for some fun inchie inspiration!

04-24-2009, 03:09 PM
I hope to join in over the weekend, just won't be able to do much tonight

That said, I have six to show:

04-24-2009, 03:20 PM
I just got a couple of atc trades in the mail today with no user name on them so it took me a while to search for who they were so I could give them there itrader.
Please put your user name on all your trades.

04-24-2009, 03:37 PM
Bright-Spark those are lovely! love the colors.

04-24-2009, 04:01 PM
I bought a new 1 inch punch and hope to play this weekend too! I punched out a whole pile of watercoloured squares to doodle on!!

04-24-2009, 04:23 PM
I bought a new 1 inch punch and hope to play this weekend too! I punched out a whole pile of watercoloured squares to doodle on!!

Sorry to show my ignorance, but what is an 1 inch punch? It punches out one inch squares? wow!

04-24-2009, 04:29 PM
I've never done inchies, but will give it a whirl! I'm always amazed when I see how much folks can fit in a 1x1 space!

Patti M
04-24-2009, 04:30 PM
I went to michael's and AC Moore to try and buy a 1" circle punch to try some "rinchies"- but they were all out!! Boo Hoo! I guess I'll just have to stick to squares today. My regular circle cutter messes up on the little ones too much to be trusted!

04-24-2009, 04:36 PM
I forgot about this. Hopefully i'll get to play tomorrow as I doubt I will on Sunday.

04-24-2009, 05:52 PM
Sheesh! Please pass the tweezers!

04-24-2009, 06:25 PM
Glad I stumbled in here this weekend.
Now I'm off to make inchies ...

04-24-2009, 07:25 PM
Sorry to show my ignorance, but what is an 1 inch punch? It punches out one inch squares? wow!

Exactly!!! And it was on sale when I bought it!!!! I snagged it really quickly I can tell you!

04-24-2009, 07:29 PM
I'm ready to start making inchies! What is everyone collecting in the line of inchies?
I'm looking for cats, dogs, cupcakes, monochromatics of any color, trees, hearts, houses, abstracts and anything else that captures my fancy.
Ideas, please!

04-24-2009, 07:31 PM
Hmmmmm...I've never made an inchie before. What does one do with them once they are finished?

04-24-2009, 08:07 PM
Check this out, hayward!

Patti M
04-24-2009, 11:32 PM
thanks- I hope to get some done I can trade tomorrow!

04-24-2009, 11:34 PM
How long does it take you to make them?

04-24-2009, 11:35 PM
Wow! Cool inchies everyone! I hope to get a few done tonight. I have to work tomorrow to fill in for one of my co-workers at the last minute, so not sure how much time I'll have to play until tomorrow evening. But play I will. :D

04-24-2009, 11:56 PM
I'm working on about 15 or so. I forgot how much I hate to make these, they are to dang tiny!

04-25-2009, 12:12 AM
Mine are drying, I'll add ink and oil pastels to them tomorrow, then come 'round to share. I may go DRAW some, for now. Maybe that won't hurt my neck so much!

Patti M
04-25-2009, 12:22 AM
The packing tape transfers are pretty quick to work with- the backgrounds take longer most times. Of course that's because I make the transfers ahead of time and keep them on acetate sheets so they're ready to be cut to use. Just glue them on your background and you're good to go. Sometimes I add embellishments to perk them up- but for a B&W swap they are great.

04-25-2009, 01:11 AM
Ooooo! I see some great inches! It has taken me a long time to make mine. Some of mine I have painted backgrounds and some are paper scraps but all the little pictures I cut out and glued on with rubber cement. That way you can put a thin layer on both and item to be glued and then rub off the excess once it's dried and they are nice and flat, wrinkle free and no glue shows.

I will trade all 5 inches for 5 collaged inches that are all different. The rinches I will trade 5 to two different people for collaged rinches that are all different.
Girl with shoe is traded and girl with phone is traded.

04-25-2009, 01:13 AM
I've been making inchies steady since 6 p.m. It is now just after midnight.
If you want anything presented let me know which set it/they are in and describe the inchie a tad. I will break up sets. I would rather trade for multiples if at possible. PM me if you're interested in something and we will work out the details.

I went to my sister's house for a bit and took the inchie blanks a few pens with me. Another of my sisters was there as well. You'll find a few inchies they did in these sets. They too are up for grabs if anyone is interested in them.

Leaves---gel pens on watercolor paper
#1, #4 traded
Flowers---gel pens and/or sharpies on watercolor paper
#1, #2, #3 traded
Blue Flowers---acrylics on watercolor paper
Stars---gel pens and/or sharpies on watercolor paper or white chipboard
#5 orange star traded
Random---gel pens and/or sharpies on watercolor paper or white chipboard
sailboat traded
mountains traded

04-25-2009, 01:20 AM
And the rest of the inchies from me tonight.

I'm heading to bed. If you PM me for a trade don't expect an answer from me till sometime in the evening. I am going to the City wide garage sales in Pburg in the morning and I doubt I'll get home early.

I'm still interested in what you all are looking for where these inchies are concerned. I'll make more tomorrow evening...probably not this many, but some.

You all are on fire with your creativity tonight. Wow!!!

Trees--acrylics on watercolor paper
Ducks--sharpies and/or gel pens on watercolor paper or white chipboard
#3, #6 traded
Teddy Bears (pitiful teddy bears)-- gel pens and/or sharpies on watercolor paper or white chipboard
Abstracts--sharpies and/or gel pens on watercolor paper

Good Morning Everyone,
Morning for me at least...
Here are six butterflies for you to look at. If you want anything presented let me know which set it/they are in and describe the inchie a tad. I will break up sets. I would rather trade for multiples if at all possible. PM me if you're interested in something and we will work out the details.
I will mark them traded as they as they are traded.

You all have been busy little bees while I was sleeping! Such wonderful inchies!!!

I made these last night before I went to bed. There will be more coming from me later today. I am fixing to head over to Pburg for the city wide yard sales here in a few minutes. The early birds have already beat me to the starting point! lol

04-25-2009, 09:00 AM
I swore I would not do inchies, twinchies, rinchies, chunky books, art dolls, or any other "non" ATC art here, cause I KNOW I will get addicted! LOL....

BUT...now that I am looking through this thread...I am SOOOOO SOOOOO tempted to try them! LOL.

After I get home from work, do some errands, get some sleep...I may be back to see if I am still so tempted by all the eye candy!

Great artwork, everyone!

04-25-2009, 09:04 AM

04-25-2009, 10:42 AM
Lovely work so far you all! I'd like to try this out too! Do we just make any number and then post them to this thread?

Scrappy1: Yes, just make however many you want and post them. You'll note a few folks prefer to trade in "batches" of 5 or 6. The only thing to remember is that they are 1 inch square - or round. Have fun!

04-25-2009, 10:43 AM
Good morning everyone! What a fantastic bunch of inchies. I wish I could play this morning but am filling in at work so won't be back until later this afternoon. If we're not too busy, maybe I'll have time to make a few there.

04-25-2009, 12:02 PM
BrightSpark is right, this foolishness has gone on long enough! EVERYONE! STOP what you are doing and send me all your inchies. Now go do something productive (like make me MORE inchies!) :P

I post 2 more......post #24 of the thread.....I am done for the night................

04-25-2009, 11:02 PM
So, I have never made an inchie--and dreamed about them while I was sleeping! Since I was once a Creative Memories consultant...and was ALL about the punches...I have punches in every size and shape! LOL. In these 5 shapes, I have 4 sizes--these are all 1" punched shapes. They are not for trade, since I was just playing around...but, thought I would share my silliness! I was surprised that 1" was this small! I had in my head that it was one of my bigger size punches.

04-25-2009, 11:31 PM
Wow! All different shapes! Very clever and very nice!

04-25-2009, 11:50 PM
Here's Set 3

Set's 1&2 are on post 75 or see my gallery

04-26-2009, 12:29 AM
Wow lots of wonderful inchies have been posted while I was sleeping. Hopefull i'll get to do some more today so that I can trade more than one set.

04-26-2009, 12:55 AM
I've been playing a bit tonight and here's what I have to offer:

Groups are Sealife (6) TRADED; Vintage (4); Flowers (6)
http://www.atcsforall.com/forum/gallery/images/400/medium/1_inchies-sea_llife.jpg http://www.atcsforall.com/forum/gallery/images/400/small/1_inchies-vintage.jpg http://www.atcsforall.com/forum/gallery/images/400/medium/1_inchies-flowers.jpg

04-26-2009, 02:06 AM
Ok, I know that I don't have enough for a trade yet...but here are my first ones! I spent a long time finding and printing images...1 st sheet were much too small! 2nd sheet were too big! 3 rd sheet was mostly usable! LOL...

I am going to take some to work with me tonight, and if I have time I will cut them out. Then, in the morning, I will work on some backgrounds. Then, I will have time to make a few (maybe! LOL)

Eek--just saw the white specks on the images...those must be on the scanner, cause they are not on the inchies....seems like I have this problem all the time! Darn kiddos! LOL

Cool inchies and rinchies Niteowl and Tam

04-26-2009, 02:37 AM
My kid just ran out, said 'oh, wook! purdy!'
I said 'those are inchies'
he says 'no mama, it'sa stwamp' and then, picks it up and licks it.

So when are we going to get to see these lickable stamps? I mean inchies of course! :D

Some lovely inchies been posted overnight, I am going to devote some time today to making more so I can trade.

04-26-2009, 06:45 AM

I just woke up (work nights, so sleep during the day!). It is only 4:30 here, so time to make some art!

I did have a few questions....what information do you put on the back of these little guys? How do you pack them to mail them? Is there anything else I should know?
