Chunky's: An AFRICAN ADVENTURE - Due June 12th 2012
Swap Due Date – June 12th
Signup/withdraw date - None, life happens, just let me know so I'm not waiting for something that will never arrive and you then don't get a neutral iTrader for not communicating!
Number of Cards - 3 for 3
Number of participants - Unlimited
Media – All
Special thanks especially to Joss, for allowing me to use her title! :)I've changed it because I kept on getting confused between the two ;)
Embark on an African adventure. Your limit is your imagination! Think animals, people, art, patterns, beads. I realise not everyone can draw so will accept stickers, clipart, stamped images etc, but PLEASE put some effort into your page, do an interesting background for your printed piece, if it's got a white (or other colour background) round the sticker, please cut that away, as it makes your work look unprofessional (imho!) and generally put a whole lot of effort into making something you are proud of!
How do I make a Chunky Page?
Check this out: http://www.atcsforall.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1294
Please Post Pics for us to oogle and ooh over while we create!
Mailing your Pages:
When you are ready to mail, PM me for my address.
1. ALL participants (UK & International) MUST pay for their own return postage on this one!! I will accept via Paypal if you wish. Estimated Postage: Basically, equivalent to what it cost you to mail it to me if you are in the UK. It costs me £2.60 to send chunkies to a swop in the States. This equals just over $4.00. If you cannot send that, please contact me and we can work something out. As I usually do, I will thank you in your private message part of your iTrader message, so that noone is embarrassed if they cannot send postage.
2. ALL Participants: Send well-concealed cash and/or UK Stamps and a LARGE address Label! I will supply the return envelopes.
3. Please allow plenty of time for the mailing process. Late pages will be returned to the original artist!
Hostess pages are always coveted and adored, but are NEVER required!
Returns:
Once you receive your Chunky's, please remember to leave iTrader for me as well as Rep Points (use the "you rock!" button) for members you received chunky's from and to post to the thread.
If you have any questions feel free to ask in the thread or by PM.

thanks for the invite Elizabeth, but I never did any chunky's before.
What is the size, I did not found it. Also, I will only be able to work on them
between May 15 and June 1st:mask: maybe that will not be enough time....
so I will be lurking for a while....

Lurking's fine :)
Chunkies are 4inches by 4 inches. They can be made with, or without danglies and charms, that's your preferance. There's a link in the first post that tells you how to make them.
As you're on the continent, posting at the beginning of June is fine.
Ceejay, Martha and Jaw, lurk away, hopefully you'll stay ;)
Of course I HAVE to do this, anything with an African theme has me hooked immediately. I have only done a few chunkies -without the danglies -as I prefer them that way- but will give this my very best shot and may even add some dingle dangles. Will ask you or Evie if I need help.

Welcome Joss! I hoped you'd sign up ;) Danglies are entirely optional, some people add them when they receive their chunkies (I've had people ask if I mind if they do so)
I would love to join in!:spinny:
Very glad to sign you up! ;)
Please add me...I will give chunkies a chance!
I hope you'll like them, they're not really that much bigger than an atc, only an inch or so! ;)

nice job Marilou. I don't think your dangle bits are too much. I have seen a lot more. and then I don't put any on at all. So your choice..
mariloupatch
04-18-2012, 01:48 PM
Thanks Carol!!! I am not sure I do like does dangles....
Marilou, it's gorgeous! And I love the wee snake on the back ;)
It works both ways, with or without danglies! Those I think are a matter of personal taste to be honest.
mariloupatch
04-18-2012, 04:54 PM
So what should I do for the other chunkies, put dangles on or not??????
mrubyjean
04-18-2012, 05:01 PM
I know I'm still lurking...but here's my two cents...
I love the danglies on your first card! But as you make your cards, see if they cry out for dangles or if you like them without. You can always put a bit of fiber in with the chunky and the person who gets it can add a dangly if they want.
Excellent idea Martha! :)
mariloupatch
04-19-2012, 02:48 AM
Thanks Martha, I will add some stuff, so the receiver can use it or not, maybe we
all can make the chunky's without the dangles and put some with the card?
Then everyone is free to use them or not. Just an idea :notworthy:
Here are 2 other cards I made yesterday

Aaaaaw, what a little sweetie pie. You have never known true love till you have a grandchild. Congratulations. xxx

Very true Joss, a grandchild is THE most love one can get.
And the best this is (LOL) if they get on your nerves you can send them home.
Well, not me though. Ana got her first certificate for the previous week, her very first week in an english school, does not speak the language yet, but unbelievable she
does understand what the teacher ask her to do. So she got a "very very very good first week" certificate. I am very proud.
I know, I have a two year old stepgranddaughter, but I'm "Aunty Liza" to her because her oldest uncle didn't want me to be called granny as that would've been his late mother. Now I'm granny whether he likes it or not! :D

my entries in the African chunky swap are just in need of maybe danglies and then posting to our lovely host.
Thank goodness for chunky pages and FABRIC, anything I have tried to make with paper/collage is causing great difficulties at the moment.. but my needle and thread still works okay.
The fabric is all painted with acrylics, and I really am happy with the brightness of the colours!
The Masai shield and spear uses a kebab skewer for the spear; the map of Africa is felt and beads; the Masai necklace is beaded, and the Zulu card is a representation of the Love Messages the young Zulu women sent their men while they were working away. Each colour bead symbolised an emotion, { I miss you, I hear you have another, I doubt you will ever earn my bride-price..etc.}
All were fun to make!.
I have all of your swaps ready to go, Ibus, so will pm you for details of Paypal..I have your address.
They're beautiful! Thanks for posting to the thread. :)
Another bit on the Zulu love notes ... only the women know what the messages mean, so "he's lazy" etc, will be giggled over by the women and falsely interpreted by the men!

{ I have 2 seemingly lost-in-the-mail things happening from US at the moment too, one should have arrived while I was in England! } Please don't hold your swap up too long for my wayward chunkies, its not fair to everyone else.
