Black and White (and Grey) Postcard Swap

This is a swap for those who like to work in black and white, and something in between - grey. I love the look of black and white and the grey will give it depth.

Any theme is acceptable; however no nudity. The postcard size gives you lots of room to play, so while you can do large-scale portraits, you might also take the opportunity to do a whole scene. It's up to you! See examples below.

A note about host cards: No obligation. A postcard requires more time. Don’t feel guilty.

Rules of the Swap;
- All postcards are 4x6
- Use sturdy paper - as if your were going to mail it individually
- All cards must be original, and each card must be different.
- Show off your talents. Send work that you would like to receive.
- No bulky embellishments.

Mailing & Postage
- When you're ready to mail, please PM me for my address.
- Make sure your name and user name (at a minimum) appear on the back of the card.
- US Participants, include a SASE, business size, with enough postage to cover the mailing of your cards.
- I will cover the internationals, but please send a label with your address.
- Please mail your cards early so they arrive on time,

thanks topacelot I was kind of paranoid no one would sign up. It is the same if I host a party. I always worry no one will come. Although usually all I need for my friends is beer.

I did the Renaissance Faire for years and I will tell you those good old boys can drink. But never really drunk during the day......except after hours in the campground.

Are you referring to the SCA? Society for Creative Anachronims (spelling) I think that is what they are called. They like to battle each other

LOL well ok then. At least the SCA try to do costumes and such. But you never know. that park might be the sight of the first ever Ren Faire in your city just cuz those guys were out there whacking on each other. LOL. It would not surprise me. With Ren Faire nothing does.

I really really really enjoyed making these! I wanted to make something Disney like, so when I was google for references and found this adult girls with sexy princess costumes, so I went sort of that route.

Carol you need to pick 4! Because I went crazy ... except for snow white, I will use her for the PIF thread. I had ran out of India ink, and use a sepia color, so she is not black and white ...

OMGosh Suntrade they are awesome. I love to do black and white. It is a challenge; but oh my when it works it works. And these work. You can use some in your swap the all media swap.

4 hhmmmm. Belle is exquisite, Jasmine (right) above Snow is very exotic and to her left it looks like an abstract face. Love it. Those two for sure. Hard choice. Maybe Ariel and Pocahontas. Or you choose and surprise me. Great work

That is why I like it. I do printing also. the size of the post card lends itself to wood cuts more so than the ATC size. Nice job.

You can keep cutting for your other post cards and see what you end up with.

I almost didnt join this, 'cause I thought B&W would be limiting and (quite frankly) boring. BOY, was I wrong. the posts so far are just outstanding. the wild animals are fabulous, and the princesses too. And this is the 1st swap i have been in with a wood cut. Wow! Cant wait for the returns.

Funny quick story.., I did quick outlines of my cards and proceeded to search and search for my watercolor pencils... So many great things here! love this b/w idea. Here's mine. I did a theme of black and white animals with penguins, zebras, pandas, and a black leopard

Sheala those are amazing. great work. It is fun to work in b/w for a while and then go back.

Here is my big mistake of the day. although the day is still young. I was impatient and I grabbed a black pen to fill in my dark areas that was not permanent. When I went over it with a grey marker to darken it......... it bled purple. ARGHHHHH. Now I am off to make another card. Now if I had wanted that effect I could not have achieved it. :O)

:eek:Ahhhhrghhh!!! I just had abit of a mishap with the Butterflies card... gotta see if she's salvageable or not. :cry: Was putting a clear coat on her n things that've been "dry" for a week ran all over the place! Take note peeps, acrylic n copic ink doesnt play nicely with clear coat!!!

But thanks for the compliments yall... i'll work on her tonight and see if she can be saved then repost her pic...
