I just LOVE dragonflies and butterflies. Butterflies are so colorful and elegant, dragonflies mysterious. Do you love them too? Then join this swap and make 3 wonderful cards using collage and/or mixed media.

* Your cards must be 2.5" x 3.5". Original art only, no copies or prints. Each card must be different.
* Please keep your cards as flat as possible. No raised beads, buttons or other embellishments, please. FLAT embellishments are okay.
* NO stickers as the focal point of your cards!
* Each card should be send in it´s own plastic sleeve.
* Please include at least your username, real name and origin on the back of your cards. We can´t leave RepPoints if we don´t know who you are.

* I´ll provide the envelopes. Please sent a LARGE address label or piece of paper with your name and address typed on.
* A well concealed €, $ or LOOSE US-stamp to cover postage would be appreciated. I´ll cover postage for all other players.
* Please allow enough time for your cards to get to me. I am in the Netherlands and I recommend a mailing time of 2 weeks for overseas players and 1 week for European players.

The front page of this swap says collage/mixed media only... Usually I would paint my insects; but I thought "this sounds fun"... I am having a terrible time finding magazine/clip art images of either butterflies or dragonflies.

So... may I cut some outlines from handmade papers and draw/paint in the details? failing that (or along with that) Could you perhaps define what you think of as "mixed media" so I know what I'm aiming for?

Hi Silverseam, if you normally paint your insects, why not collage the background and paint the insects? Or use a painted background with images. I normally use all kinds of papers for the background (scrapbookpaper, bookpages, tissuepapers, etc. that I paint or color with ink and use images (found on the internet by Google, there are some groups on Flickr and Yahoo that share images, etc.). You do not have to use collage only. When in doubt, post the image to the gallery and pm me the link. Have fun :)


Louisezee; if you want to add a link; click on the Insert link button (the one with the globe) and paste the link. When you save it it will show the link twice, the last part is selected, you can type over it any title/text you like. The text will show in your message underlined and when you click on it, it will direct you to the link. Hope this helps?

Hi mamashawn; some height is ok. The main problem with height and embellishments is that the cards could get stuck in the mail machines and the envelop will rip. Just package the ATCs well. I cannot wait to see your cards!

so after loading all those cards, some of them are kinda chunky. Cause I love the latest collage technique that I learned from Lisa Isreal on a youtube tutorial. And the big yellow flower is kinda chunky, That was another technique I learned on youtube, but not sure who taught me how to make the flowers pop up.

Should I not send chunky cards? I could go back to the drawing board. I mean force me to ok? Twist my arm. Yes like it would be a punishment. I am so addicted to making butterfly cards.

Bead gel is okay as long as it sticks well to the ATC and is not too bulky (for the card eating post machines :)

I´m finally done with my cards and decided to do something different this time. I hope they will meet the mixed-media criteria; I´ve used stamping with Distress Inks and Perfect Pearls and some stitching on the edges. Sorry, Kitty . . . I didn't post them to the thread because I needed to figure out how to change the size of my scan. It took me awhile, but I finally figured it out. I am not a computer whiz. I need to invest in Photoshop or something so I don't have to load my printer's disk every time I need to change the dpi - it's a huge ordeal. I'm getting better though! :)

* Your cards must be 2.5" x 3.5". Original art only, no copies or prints. Each card must be different.
* Please keep your cards as flat as possible. No raised beads, buttons or other embellishments, please. FLAT embellishments are okay.

* Each card should be send in it´s own plastic sleeve.
* Please include at least your username, real name and origin on the back of your cards. We can´t leave RepPoints if we don´t know who you are.

* I´ll provide the envelopes. Please sent a LARGE address label or piece of paper with your name and address typed on.
* A well concealed €, $ or LOOSE US-stamp to cover postage would be appreciated. I´ll cover postage for all other players.
* Please allow enough time for your cards to get to me. I am in the Netherlands and I recommend a mailing time of 2 weeks for overseas players and 1 week for European players.
* It would be great if you posted your cards to the thread to inspire us

Hoi Kitty, ik lees telkens bij de verschillende swaps dat er zulke mooie kaarten binnenkomen. Is er een plek waar ik deze kaarten vast kan zien? In de swap gallery staan alleen maar swaps die al afgelopen zijn. Misschien kun jij me 'op weg' helpen? Ga je bij de itrader ook nog melden dat mijn kaarten binnen zijn? Ik zie dat andere hosts dat ook doen, dus vandaar mijn vraag. Daarnaast probeer ik nog steeds mijn mood aan te passen, maar het blokje is leeg en er staat alleen dat ik geen mood heb. Misschien ook een oplossing voor?

I´m finally done with my cards and decided to do something different this time. I hope they will meet the mixed-media criteria; I´ve used stamping with Distress Inks and Perfect Pearls and some stitching on the edges. I have your address Kitty, so they will go into mail as soon as I´ll get the backs ready.

I would have loved to have created a dragonfly, but the one I did fold was not easy to glue onto card. Perhaps another time, after more practises.
