Title |
El Camino Real with Mission Bell |
Description |
Ancient Planter and I have been discussing early California history. Alta California was claimed by Spain in 1542. In the late 18th Century Spain built a series of 21 missions with the purpose to convert the native Americans to Catholicism. Building occurred from 1769 - 1833. The missions were a day's walk apart, extending from the San Diego area to the San Francisco area. The road connecting them was called El Camino Real and was marked by characteristic bells. I plan on making a series of the cards and perhaps making them into note cards. They are not available for trade at the present time. |
