Title Etching Diving Down Deep 1
Description Limited edition etching (12) for a nautical swap.

Bay girl. Non-diver. That's me.

To put on a lifesaving shell of canned or piped in air, the claustrophobia of being totally encased. The weight of apparatus and the pressure of water. These are things best admired afar, while on a boat, watching others fall off the side and into the depths.

That said I am not repelled by the metal housings, the historic nature of diving history and aesthetics. There is great beauty in the forged metal suits of early underwater explorers and the personality of apparent man-made monster clothing the anonymity of it all.

Quick note about etching this is an intaglio printing process. I create the original drawings, transfer them onto printing plates, etch the plates using drypoint (scratching the surface with a sharp point), ink the plates and then use a press to make the actual prints.

The actual prints I use for trading are the etchings themselves not scans.

Love these, and enjoyed reading the description. I've not yet done etchings so small and intricate, so will add that to my list of personal challenges
