Title 200th Anniversary of the Santa Fe Trail Commemorative Folio
Description I finally decided to do something with the hundred's of toilet paper rolls I have been saving. I ironed them flat and cut them down to 3.5" (they happened to be just 2.7" wide when flattened) and punched a 1" half hole at the top for easy removal of the cards. Then I applied a coat of black tempera paint and buffed them all over to set the paint and prevent rubbing off of paint. I decided on 12 "leaves" for my folio and made an accordion spine with 12 uprights. I cut three pieces of coordinating card stock for the cover, the longest 11.5" long and 2.7" wide, the second and third were each 1/8" smaller than the first and glued them together. When completely dry, I scored the fold lines to make the front, bottom, back, top and front flap and glued the spine in place. I fastened the closure ties and button and then hid the tie off area with patterned paper. Each of the toilet paper rolls were decorated with patterned paper and ephemera and glued in place on the spines. I made information cards with the history of the Santa Fe Trail to fill the folio leaves.
