Title Mixed media APCs for personal trade
Description Steampunk butterfly: I put down layers of drywall tape for the background, covered it with black gesso, then spritzed with bronze and silver Tim Holtz sprays. The gears were a Tim Holtz diecut that I also spritzed with bronze sprays. The tattered butterfly was an embossing technique that I learned from the Simon Says Stamp blog. Take a chipboard, cover it with embossing powders (peacock blue, teal and white), lay parchment paper over it, and heat emboss it. When you lift the paper, it makes a marbled look, but there's also a thin layer that is left on the top parchment paper. This is what I used. I added little watch gears to the butterfly's body.

Freedom: I gessoed, painted and stamped over Tim Holtz tissue paper. The heart is cut from a bookpage and colored with the Dylusions spray. I finally got to use a journaling tag, yay! The quote is from a Finnibair stamp set.

Imagination: I layered the tissue paper down and painted and stenciled over it. I drew and fussy-cut the book. I stamped the hot air balloon onto a bookpage and cut it out. I then shaded the edges with an inktense block. (I originally painted the stamped hot air balloon, but it was too garish and colorful. It just didn't look right.)
