Help, I have never done a "chunky", I know it is hanging embellishments...what types of stuff do you usually use?

Buttons, scrabble tiles, lace, beads, homemade charms, polyclay bits, shells, - there is more but that is all I can think of right off.

Wow -- sounds like Val is ready to get the page done. I'm impressed.

GG summed up the chunky hanging stuff, and it can also include just ribbons, twine, yarn, wire....anything goes...

Susie -- I assume you want left edge binding, but I'm waiting on that.

Now we are just waiting for Pippin's theme.

Oh, Pippin, Cats is great!!! Do you want 8x8 or some other size? Which size for binding?

I'm excited about the different themes and mixed media.

Excellent -- we have all the themes and sizes chosen.
    Here's the first mailing schedule:

    June 30, 2009
    SusieTex sends to NYJunkie
    NYJunkie sends to vwozniak
    Vwozniak sends to goatgoddess
    Goatgoddess sends to Pippin
    Pippin sends to Monarch
    Monarch sends to SusieTex

If at all possible, please mail the pages by June 30. It might be fun to scan and critique sketches, but that is optional.

I'm fairly new to Chunky pages, so this is going to be fun and a challenge for me. Also, using mixed media will be fun. I have to start thinking. Maybe I'll incorporate fabric with photos printed.

Just a quick note: I will have a sketch for my first page posted by the end of the weekend. I have a 'mental sketch' done and just have to get it onto paper.

We are into June now, so I'm sure everyone is beginning to plan their first 'chunkie-ish' page.

I am at the mental sketch stage, too. Also doing some dyeing so I have the materials I will need.

Here's my Working Sketch for Funky Fish. The background will be shades of blue wool felted in sections. The fish will be different fabrics (not chosen yet); fibers for seaweed, fabric borders with holes for hanging 'stuff', and I'll probably use shells on the sea floor. I might use something for fishnet -- don't want to get it too cluttered, so it's not in the sketch.

I welcome comments and suggestions -- I'll probably start the background on Monday and may even find time to make some sketches for future pages.

Hello all, sorry been away for a while. Just to confirm, my pages are to be bound on the left hand side, thanks.

As far as designer fish go, you can choose to do anything with them, there will never be another fish like it, they will all be part of a unique collection. So if your fish is 'dressed' in a tiara and high heels! or dressed in designer 'grunge' it will be very welcome on my 'catwalk' or is that 'catfish walk'?
Of course the fish could be just shaped like a handbag or purse with scales and fins, it's still 'designer'. Does this help at all, or are you even more confused? LOL
