How To Trade Your Art Supplies & Misc. Trades

How To Trade Your Art Supplies & Misc. Trades

    One-on-One Trades:

    - Start a new thread and make the Title of the thread very clear. For example: not "Let's Trade My Stuff", more like "I have Prismas to Trade!" This makes it easy for members to skim down the list in this Forum
    - In your 1st Post of the new thread, list the item(s) you have for trade
    - Be clear what you would like in return, it saves members asking "what do you want in return?"
    - As you complete the trade, edit your 1st Post, so that anyone new reading it will see what you have at all times, and won't waste time asking to trade for something that is already gone.
    - When you are finished, click the REPORT button, type in "You can close this thread now, trades completed" and one of the Moderators will close the thread for you.

Ideas on How To Host an Art Supply Swap (Thanks, Curbsidetreasure!)

    Pick-A-Theme:
    - It can be ephemera, decorative papers, or an assortment of things.
    - It can also be supplies swapped by their color, junk: like keys and game pieces, fabric scraps.
    - Anything that can be used in art.
    - Each person would list what they would like (ex: Bird themed supplies), everyone in a small group of 3-4 would send each person in their group the requested supply

    Pay-It-Forward
    - The first person lists 3-4 different things they would like to receive in a small package of goodies
(ex: Vintage children clipart, bird themes, etc.)
    - The next person to post under them would pick one of the things from the person above them's list, then start their own list of themes they would like to receive
    - It would continue and once your have sent your package, you may post another list
    - be specific about the minimum # of things to be sent
    - also (if needed) specify the size of paper or fabric

(right now my thoughts are if we can host art supply swaps, the host can receive the things, then swap the items out for a good assortment and then send out the returns. cuz every artist loves new supplies! it doesn't always have to work like this, but it should be fun.)

    Pass-Around (PAR)

    - Host stuffs an envelope or other package with goodies.
    - Each participant removes what they wish and replaces the items according to the swap terms of host and sends the package on to the next swapper.
    - The last participant adds her goodies and returns the package to the host.

Sure! That is a great idea.
PM me your ideas on 'how to run one' and I will include it in the Sticky Note. Bullets are easier to read, too.

Ideas have been posted to the 1st Post! Thank you!

Sorry for posting, but I wasn't completely sure on the answer. For the one-on-one trades, unlike the wish list (and a RAK), do you leave I-Trader points? Since you're still doing a trade. Even if it is dealing with supplies.

For example: I'm sending some supplies to someone, and she was going to send me an atc in return. I would still leave I-Trader for her; right?

    Forgive my stupidness.

Yes, if you arrange a one-on-one trade you do leave iTrader.

Can I add that we have done 2 (and plan to do another in the new year) GATs....Goodie-a-thon...

They work like any other a-thon, where people list (with pictures) their supplies to trade and people make offers. It goes from Friday afternoon to Sunday evening.

The two we have done so far have been successful and very fun!

Here is the link to the thread from the second one...gives you an idea of what it is like.

..what if there was an art supply I am actively trying to get and am willing to do an ATC or two for? Sort of a supply-for-art trade. Could I do that here?

Just saw your question, Seedlet! If someone agrees to trade supplies for art, that's fine! Go for it!

When a thread is complete I see that you need to click report and tell the admin that it is complete. Are those ones on the list with a padlock on them the ones that are complete? What does the padlock mean?

You are correct. Threads that have a padlock are ones that are closed. The padlock indicates that a thread is closed to any new posts and won't allow for new replies.

I am also thinking of sending out free envelopes of my gelli print papers. Can we post give aways here also or does it have to be some type of two way swap? I don't really want to get anything in return.
