Chunkies: Bird Shaped Chunky! Due Sept. 12th

Swap Due Date: Sept. 12 2009

    Withdraw Date: Sept. 12
Number of Pages: 4 for 4 or 8 for 8
    Number of Participants: 30

    Bird Shaped Chunky Pages!

My friend RocNic hosted this swap on another site and is graciously allowing me to host it here. This swap is for making bird shaped chunky pages.

To keep the pages uniform I require that you use this template: http://www.stampington.com/html/temp...e_fm08_02.html We are going to cut off the legs and just use the body for our pages. This will make the birds approximately 2 inches high and 7 3/4 inches long. It took me awhile to figure out how to make the template the right size, and here's how you do it: save the template to your computer--do no try to print it directly from the web page! Open the file in a photo software program, and click the little box that says size to fit on page. Print it out portrait style--do NOT use landscape--it will be too big! No cropping needed.

Like all chunkies they need to be on a thick substrate--watercolor paper, a couple of sheets of cardstock, cereal boxes etc. Be creative when adding chunky bits! Can you make legs and feet out of wire? Wanna add real feathers? The sky's the limit as long as everything is securely attached!

Please decorate the backsides as well and put your info in small print along the bottom so that both sides can be visible!

These pages can be used as a book by putting a hole in the top center of the body (so leave this part chunk free) or it can be made into a garland or a mobile!

    Nitty Gritty Details:

Both US and International participants must pay for their own return postage on this one because of the cost involved in shipping.

    US participants/International participants must include:

either well-concealed cash and/or US stamps or you can pay me by paypal--pm me for my paypal addy!

an address label (remember to include your ATA username) to return your chunky book pages.

No bubble envelopes needed please i plan on reusing yours.

Please, when sending money through paypal tell me your AFA username and any other pertinent info, + please send an extra .50 cents for covering paypal fees

Here are the estimated postage costs :
    US/Canada: $2 for 4 pages/$3 for 8
    everywhere else: $3 for 4 pages/$5 for 8

Once you have received your pages back PLEASE leave iTrader for me and rep points for the artists you got pages from!

The due date is EXTREMELY firm as I MUST mail back packages within a week from the due date. I ABSOLUTELY WILL NOT wait for anyone. NO EXCEPTIONS!

You KNOW I've GOT to get in on THIS!! So I noticed there is an eyelet at the bottom of the bird. Is that how you bind them?? If so I need to make sure I incorporate the eyelet. If not, how are you going to put yours together? This is going to be sooooooooooo FUN!!

nancyl i will reply to your pm in just a minute.

marla, these can be bound several ways. either as a book with an eyelet on the TOP, or as a mobile or as a garland. totally up to you. the reason mine has an eyelet on the bottom was i hung some charms there, they don't scan well however so i took them off.

Ok Kati, are you messin' with my study-addled brain???? I sucked the bird into my photoshop elements program and magically cutoff it's legs. I cropped it close to the top of the head and the bottom of the tail and sure enough it's about 2" tall. BUT if the proportions are kept in sinc the bird is only FIVE and 3/4" long, not 7 3/4. Would you please re-measure your birdies? A 2 x 7.75 birdie is such a lonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnng skinnnnnny bird and it doesn't look like your pics. A 2 x 5.75 birdie looks like the ones you have in the pic.

    Let me know! Thanks!!

    welcome sue!

nope, my birds are correct, i promise! i made 6 of them so i should know, lol.

to correctly size the template you must save to your computer, open in a photo software program, print it portrait orientation, and click the little box that says size to fit on page. no cropping needed.

they can face any way you want. since they can be made into more things than a book i am not going to be picky on this, and it won't look horrible to have the pages face differently in a book either.
